[Q] Line Out Mod - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hey guys is their anyway we can get a line out mod in any of the custom roms. There isn't a way to use this feature currently that I'm aware. Any help would be great and I think that this is a much needed feature for audiophiles and/or people looking to listen to their music via aux input in their automobiles.

how specifically are you trying to mod the line-out? Make it output via FM Radio? Or make it output louder audio from the AUX port? If so, I know you can use an auxilary ampifier to make it louder, but software wise I no of no such thing. There probably is something out there, I'm just too lazy to look

Where would I find a aux amplifier at?

Can't say I understand what you are trying to achieve. Could you elaborate it a little more?

When you try to hook up your GN to a aux input or say a pair of speakers, the volume is unlistenable to say the least. Their is no way that I know of to improve this sound or quality that I have found. For info more see this link http://www.head-fi.org/t/582179/samsung-galaxy-nexus/60

Use Volume+ 1.8 . It will boost the headset volume to whatever level u need. Search for it in the forums. That should solve ur problem!

Get one from Dealextreme. I use the FiiO E5 to take the audio signal from my Xbox 360 cable straight into my headphones. You just connect the E5 inline with the two 3.5mm connectors and it has a volume control independent of the source!

Bluetooth Mic With Aux Out for Car

So I tried searching but I feel like this is a pretty specific item that I'm looking for so sifting through pages and pages of bluetooth headsets and separate car audio setups was frustrating me.
What I'm looking for is a small mic that I can mount near my sun visor that is wired to a bluetooth receiver that connects to the aux input in my car. This would allow my phone to connect via bluetooth and have a handsfree setup that would play through the car stereo without any wires to my phone and without using the phone speaker or mic. Can anybody tell me if such a system exists? I've been googling different terms trying to find things but the best things I can find are proprietary connections for stereos and I would like to stick with my OEM radio.
Thanks for the help, and I do apologize if I overlooked a topic discussing this.
This any help?
ptp.net.au/comfort_9060smart_ANZ.html
That is close to what I'm looking for but I can't find any that just hook in directly through a stereo aux cable, I don't want to have to hook into the back of my head unit. It looks like some of their products may possibly do this, but it seems like they are more complicated so the price is significantly higher. Still looking. Thanks for the help though.
There are a number of units out there that will transmit over FM frequency. This isn't exactly what you're looking for, but it will do the trick. Instead of running the cable to your Stereo AUX port, just tune your radio to the specific station and you'll hear the audio through you car speakers.
This is what I have:
http://direct.motorola.com/hellomoto/t505/
It also has a loud speaker right in it so you can even use it without the FM radio if you desire. You press a button on the back and it'll search for an "open" FM channel and then it speaks the channel number for you to tune into.
Has the added benefit of allowing you to listen to music if you have it on your phone. Includes buttons on the side to allow you to change tracks backward and forward.
Dunno if your still in search for one but Scosche just came out with THIS. It also does Bluetooth Stereo which is a plus!
Hope this helps
I've been hunting for a solution as well (at least one that doesn't require me to buy a new headunit).
I'd love to get an fm transmitter or direct fm line input that supports a2dp with RDS, and has decent transmit power. The soundfly BT ultimate does most of this, but doesn't have RDS via bluetooth. It's a small detail, but it'd be cool to have. Any ideas?

[Q] Aux Input

Hi All,
I'm a bit lost with this one and cant quite seem to find\word what I am looking for in my searches.
I basically just want to connect an audio input into my Desire. I assume this is possible as the headphone jack has a Mic input functionality. Any ideas? I am thinking of a short cable that plugs into the headphone socket and has a female 3.5mm jack on the other end into which a standard microphone\aux input can be plugged?
I guess its possible but you would only get mono input for recording, afaik the kernel controls how the headset input is operated and all 3 contacts need to have contact.
Yes, it will definitely be a mono input... But I doubt the quality of the recording from such input...
Sent from my HTC Desire
Thanks guys. Mono only is not a problem as I only want to record spoken word for a podcast. Would be interesting to see how good the quality is (voice recording works well using the supplied headset)

3.5mm for CDMA

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/android-tp2/145568-3-5mm-headset-test-kernel.html
you're welcome
Hey ACL,
Did you build this test kernel off Kernel 1336 (the latest FRX07 test kernel) or is it from a prior kernel that doesn't incorporate the changes? Will this be in FRX07?

Wait, what? There's no "FRX07 test kernel"... This is based off of 1333 - if you look at the autobuild service, there's a new kernel now 1337 - this has the 3.5mm code in it.

Sorry Arrrghhh, I misspoke, I meant that 1336 added some things for the upcoming FRX07 release. I was just wondering what kernel ACl built the patches off of so I could figure out what was included and not included in his testing kernel, but I had not had the chance to check the site to see there was a new kernel available that included his patches. So I will just use 1337.
Sorry for the confusion.
yes

Pretty sure god had nothing to do with it. Unless you're putting ACL on that high of a pedestal... don't let him get too big of a head now
Enjoy.
Dev of the day
Works great, I've been using the auto build kernal all day and I'm very happy that I no longer get any system panic issues after unplugging like I did when using the extusb. Good job! Thanks ACL
when using the extusb reboot the phone sometime

Do you have an issue with just the 3.5mm jack? I haven't had a single reboot yet. Please tell us what build, phone, etc...
Apparently the code to check for headset button isn't there. From a quick look at dmesg it thinks that the TRRS headset is a plain headphone, and pressing the call/answer button doesn't seem to do anything.

Correct, I guess ACL or I should've mentioned this is only the jack that is functional and the audio that routes out of it - there are no advanced features that work (yet).
Give 'em an inch and they'll take a mile - fix it then!
Alarms don't seem to play over either the jack or the speaker when the 3.5mm jack is plugged in.
I tend to keep my TP2 in a cradle overnight, with a speaker. It plays white noise at night over the cradle speakers, charges, and then, in winmo, plays the morning alarms over the device speaker (can't remember if that routing is optional or automatic, but it's comforting since my cradle doesn't have battery backup).
Not trying to take a mile, just thought the mention might be helpful

hehe..
Well i dont have a headset with any advance features so i can't continue at this point until i get my hands on one. And i'm not sure of what the rhod can do even on winmo since i've never used those features.
I guess if we have an outlined goal as to what needs to be added then we can start. Right now its just plain audio
what's an "advanced" feature anyway? are they referring to button-event handling? (as in, during music playback, 1 button press on the headphone is pause, double press is skip to next song, etc...)

Yes. I believe you can also mute calls, answer calls, etc if you have a fancy headset/mic. Some have volume controls as well. All sorts of in-line goodness.
Hey ACL this is really great work on the 3.5 jack. thank you so much for getting that working i have been using it the past few days and it is great!
I will point out one thing i know there is no advanced features as of yet but i will point out that when you get a phone call and the jack is plugged in you can answer thru the phone but the mic is not active. Like my wife uses her phone in her car thru the 3.5 jack and that is how she talks hands-free but the mic does not activate when the headset is plugged in when you receive a phone call. if you unplug it the other party can hear you but as soon as you plug it in they cant. I don't think that is really an advanced feature but just thought i would point it out!
Thanks again this stuff is really awesome!
oh and we are both on rhods400 and rhod500 she being the rhod 500 but its the same on mine cuz i tried it.

Is this the same for extUSB? I guess I could try it, but I would assume "yes".

Yeah the mic should not work. What we did was actually trick the system to route sound to the headset based on a trigger. We aren't detecting the type of headset which has to be done later along with the advanced functions.

Is there any way to make it work - maybe an option to force it? The ability to use the headphone jack to drive the car audio (while leaving the mic active) is crucial to many of us. I don't care whether or not the phone detects the type of headset - I'd just like to be able to have it default to having the mic turned on rather than off.

[Q] Line-in recording

Does anybody know of a way one can record sound from the headphone jack on the DHD? I want to record something from a line out and I figured to connect it to my phone using the 2xRCA-3.5mm cable, but couldn't find an app for it... Anyone found a way?

any sound recording app will do it, u just have to feed the audio into the mic ring on the connector. cant just feed audio backwards into an amplifier and record it. you will only get mono recording ability though.
Got a scheme/picture which ring is the mic ring? And can it take line-out/record-out loudness, or do I have to cut it down? Also, I'm pretty sure that when I plug in normal headphones which don't have a microphone the DHD uses its own, how exactly does it recognize a plugged in mic?
Im not sure offhand which it is. id dig around in google, any of the standard headsets work as its a standard for which ring is the mic. im just at work and dont have the moment to search it out. line out volume sohuld work fine, but any amplified or even headphone outputs could be too much for it.
i had an adapter i made for hooking my guitar to my ipad a while ago but dont know where i put it lol.
Nice, guess I'll get into researching, one more thing for me to play with...
Thank you for your time...

[Q] djay 2

so I just downloaded djay2 and I was playing around with it. there doesn't seem to be a way to dual output audio. I want to get the que signal to play through the headphones while the mixed music plays through the main speakers. Obviously I know this won't work with the stock configuration, but does anyone know if there's a root solution out there? Has anyone seen a mod for this? By the way if you're interested in spinning or just music in general, djay 2 is pretty awesome

That won't be possible due to the hardware.
So check out this thread: http://stackoverflow.com/a/12018786
This guy seems to indicate that there is a way to do it. It's WAY above my skill level, but maybe someone else would take an interest. Xposed module perhaps?
Also its possible to play separate audio tracks through the headphone jack, as in the app supports sending the cue signal through a mono channel and the music through the stereo channel with a mono/stereo adapter. Does the headphone jack physically interrupt the same signal from getting to the internal speakers?
