Is there anyway to disable or remap the hardware volume toggle on the Focus S, when I go workout with my Belkin armband the down rocker sometimes engages when I expand my arm. But the kicker is even when I take it out it does the same thing until I reset..... I don't know if anyone else is experiencing this or has a fix but I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or advice.

Not sure of a way to disable it but would one of the hard rubberized cases work? The one's that don't cover the volume controls so that they are actually in farther from the edge. Ebay has a lot of them if you want to try one for cheap.

I don't know about you, but I find the EVO's haptic feedback "buzziness" annoying. I prefer a distinctive "click" to a "buzz" when pressing keys.
I see that in settings using cm6, you can adjust haptic feedback. Does anyone know the correct combination to get a distinctive click? Thanks.
Sorry for the bump, but since it seems impossible to find something that can adjust the haptic feedback without rooting your phone.
I discovered that Better Keyboard has its own settings, where you can adjust the haptic feedback when pressing keys on the keyboard, so you will hear a distinctive click.
I myself have a HTC Desire HD, and as you say, all the vibrations are BUUZZZZ, not simple responses. I am still looking for a way to get "clicks" when pressing the Home, Menu, Back and Search buttons.

there might be a root app on the market to edit the ms of vibrations for certain actions like screen selecting, typing, ect...
Anybody else bugged by the fact that they put the on/off button, like, the least reachable place on the phone?
I always have to juggle the phone around in my hand to reach the button, and then I have to juggle it back to reach the unlock ring. I mean, the two things I do most, pressing the on button and then sliding the unlock ring, are placed as far apart as possible. It's oddly cumbersome for such an elegant device. It's just a matter of time until I drop the damn thing. (I guess that way HTC sells more replacement screens... )
The volume buttons are where my thumb is, but I never use them. They are mostly in the way and I press them more by accident than on purpose.
Any idea whether there's a way to switch the on and volume buttons? There's probably no mod that can currently do this, but is this technically possible?
That is where the purpose of volume button to wake comes in handy. And yes, it is possible to do that.
Naah... not with me..
Yes it was a little bit difficult... but now I've become used to it....
there's a a mod for that
volume buttons to wake up the phone
use rc 3.0 or else search its thread

ummm... try searching -apm+ volume to wake

I am using the volume wake thingie. But it will, you know, change my volume setting if I listen to any audio. Which I do a lot.
Also, you can't lock the phone with it. Which precludes my main use of the button: unlock phone, check clock or notifications, lock phone.
Anyways, I wondered about the technical possibility of just switching the buttons.

Well, then there is public interest in finding a way to mod the keys, right?
Try a two second timer.
I have somewhat large hands, and the placement doesn't bother me. I can reach the button with my index finger and reach the ring with my thumb.
I do really miss having an external camera button.
yeah its not too much of a problem for me. i can hit the power button, and then use the unlock ring, but it requires a bit of stretching. i dont have to move the placement of the phone in my hand though.
Hello,
my biggest annoyance with all recent Samsung phones (S3,S4, Note II) is whenever you pass the phone over to someone - to show a video/pic/website - the oversensitive hardware on/off button will be pressed accidentally 95% of the times. This holds also true for the sensible volume rocker, but having to turn on the phone again, unlocking it, going to the app and selecting your video or photo again is really obnoxious.
A solution like
- a widget
or
- a switch in the pull down menu
that turns the hardware buttons on and off would be perfect.
Appreciate any help or advice,
Andy
One possible solution for now, a bumper or a case
It helps, as it makes the buttons deeper.

Since i activated On-Screen buttons in Temaseks Rom and disabled the hardware buttons I will never miss them.
Further I don't wanna see the hardware home button anymore
Has anybody a link for a silicon case (preferred in white) that overlaps the Home, Menu und Back buttons? Searched a lot in internet, but found not that much. Perhaps someone knows a case for another phone that fits?
Thanks for answers!
Going off topic here but I'm curious
If you've disabled the buttons how do you wake up the phone? :s

lock key i guess?
ontopic: I doubt there'd be any case with such a weird form on the market, if it's silicone you'd still be able to push the home button through the case XD
I have used the power button with volume down to take a screenshot before but for some reason it doesn't seem to be working now.
I know the QMemo option is there but I don't like this option.
Any suggestions?
Its workijg fine
works for me, kind of a pain with my Otterbox Symmetry case, had to hit both buttons with one finger tho.
I'm glad it works for you guys. But I'm hoping you can help me sort my one out, rather than just rub it in
