Screenshot ability not working - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have used the power button with volume down to take a screenshot before but for some reason it doesn't seem to be working now.
I know the QMemo option is there but I don't like this option.
Any suggestions?

Its workijg fine

works for me, kind of a pain with my Otterbox Symmetry case, had to hit both buttons with one finger tho.

I'm glad it works for you guys. But I'm hoping you can help me sort my one out, rather than just rub it in

Am I the only one who hits the power button with the keyboard extended?

I've searched but I can't find any one else complaing of this problem and it's driving me nuts.
When I extend the hardware keyboard to type, my finger often rests on the power button turning the screen off. Does anybody else face this problem? Is there a registry hack to disable the power button with the keyboard is extended?
Thanks
jejeje
Same problem!!!! so frustating!!!
No you are not the only one; I also have this problem; when writing message I touch the power button accidentally a lot and the only solution I could come to was to be more delicate and careful when writing
Regards,
Yep, same problem here! A really silly thing to miss - there's not particular reason to not have the power button on the right at the top rather than the left.
all the time....
very frustrating,
..then I try to open it, wait a fraction of a second, click it again for fear of not having pushed it enough the first time, ... and I end with the sleep mode on the phone , .. so I click it firmly for a third time finally opening it..
timewaste...

Happens to a lot of people. Don't know how you search but:

same here
me too
Add me to the list.
Which makes me wonder, why didn't they place the power on the top right?
Well at least I know I'm not the only one. Still hoping someone smarter than I will find a way to disable it with keyboard extended
@vdKarel I would have found those post had I spelt button with two t's (#)
I wasnt having that problem until today actually. lol. funny you bring it up. After discovering this, i did find it a little inconvenient where the power button is placed
happens some times. probably the power button would be better in an other place
I do it all the time as well
I use it a lot (pages and pages of word documents written on it in the train) and it doesn't happen...
When I hold mine with keyboard extended, my left index (which is the one which could hit the power button) is folded, so it hits the left side of the keyboard "block" (no power button here) then goes under the screen "block" and holds the back of the keyboard "block", it doesn't press the left side of the screen "block" (which has the power button).
Do you guys have your left index extended for it to be along the left of both the keyboard "block" and the screen "block" ? I don't see how else you could be hitting the power button...
PS : On my TyTN, this allowed me to turn the PPC on and off with the left index tip with the keyboard out, this avoided waiting for the screen to rotate when I knew I'd wand it in landscape when I trun back on.
This only happens to me after ALMOST completing a 900 word e-mail . . .
You're not alone, and there are fixes for this:

For the Tilt 2, this doesn't happen. I don't know if it's because of WM 6.5 or something AT&T implemented or what, but the power button has no effect when the keyboard is out. I actually want to find a way to enable that because at times I want to put it in sleep mode while open.
Why do you have your fingers extended?? I never have this problem in my TP2!

(Help) Has anyone made a FingerPrint Locking Screen

I was watchin 2012 last night, and i saw a phone that had a fingerprint locking screen.
i know the screen can not read fingerprints, but maybe just by holding the screen for 3 seconds could unlock a primary lock then you can have a pull down tab for the secondry..
I think it would look so cool if anyone had the skills to maybe do something....
Sorry if this is in the wrong place - i presume it is part of the development
Agreed. Would be fun!
Particularly if it looked all cool like it scanned and then had a thumb print image.
Something like it only working if for example you held down the volume button so others who tried it would fail for.
Please somebody run with this!
yer like the idea of the volume button...
i need to learn to code.....
Volume up gives accept screen
Volume down gives fail screen
that would be SOO UBER COOL!!!willing to bet ppl would pay for an app or theme like that...would be nice if u could tweak the unlock though so that even if ppl did know of the app wouldnt know what to press
Agreed, that would be awesome with the volume-key idea.
And yes, people WOULD pay for that.
I had something like this on my old iPhone (yes unfortunately i used to own one )...
On the lock screen it had a finger print scanner and pressing your finger on it used to unlock the phone... it didn't reconise different finger prints but was purely a part of the screen that when touched unlocked the phone.
I think the volume idea was initially and also should be
Press volume button (either) along with touching the screen to get accepted.
or
have it fail after a short time lapse with no buttons being pressed.
That way if someone else picks up your phone and has the "wrong finger" they won't know to press volume as well so will always fail
There's also something similar for symbian, when you place your finger on the screen the display tells you it is scanning, but it also emits little beeps or clicks, you have to release your finger on at the user specified right time to unlock it, i.e after 3rd click or 4th click or whatever.
Using that along with the volume idea would be good.
There is already a couple of finger print unlock apps on the Android market last time i looked.
Something like this:
Search for the package: innerfour.fingersecurity
finger security
theres no package like finger security on my market but i know it exist
so glad it was not just me then that thought this was a great idea - My plan of action is to track it down.......
Lets all have a easter hunt for it....First person to find it gets a kiss or a thank you - which ever they want.....

On/Off Button Placement

Anybody else bugged by the fact that they put the on/off button, like, the least reachable place on the phone?
I always have to juggle the phone around in my hand to reach the button, and then I have to juggle it back to reach the unlock ring. I mean, the two things I do most, pressing the on button and then sliding the unlock ring, are placed as far apart as possible. It's oddly cumbersome for such an elegant device. It's just a matter of time until I drop the damn thing. (I guess that way HTC sells more replacement screens... )
The volume buttons are where my thumb is, but I never use them. They are mostly in the way and I press them more by accident than on purpose.
Any idea whether there's a way to switch the on and volume buttons? There's probably no mod that can currently do this, but is this technically possible?
That is where the purpose of volume button to wake comes in handy. And yes, it is possible to do that.
Naah... not with me..
Yes it was a little bit difficult... but now I've become used to it....
there's a a mod for that
volume buttons to wake up the phone
use rc 3.0 or else search its thread
ckpv5 posted a long time ago
ummm... try searching -apm+ volume to wake
Sent from my HTC One V
I am using the volume wake thingie. But it will, you know, change my volume setting if I listen to any audio. Which I do a lot.
Also, you can't lock the phone with it. Which precludes my main use of the button: unlock phone, check clock or notifications, lock phone.
Anyways, I wondered about the technical possibility of just switching the buttons.

Well, then there is public interest in finding a way to mod the keys, right?
Try a two second timer.
I have somewhat large hands, and the placement doesn't bother me. I can reach the button with my index finger and reach the ring with my thumb.
I do really miss having an external camera button.
yeah its not too much of a problem for me. i can hit the power button, and then use the unlock ring, but it requires a bit of stretching. i dont have to move the placement of the phone in my hand though.

[Q] Silicon case that overlaps Home and Touch buttons

Since i activated On-Screen buttons in Temaseks Rom and disabled the hardware buttons I will never miss them.
Further I don't wanna see the hardware home button anymore
Has anybody a link for a silicon case (preferred in white) that overlaps the Home, Menu und Back buttons? Searched a lot in internet, but found not that much. Perhaps someone knows a case for another phone that fits?
Thanks for answers!
Going off topic here but I'm curious
If you've disabled the buttons how do you wake up the phone? :s

lock key i guess?
ontopic: I doubt there'd be any case with such a weird form on the market, if it's silicone you'd still be able to push the home button through the case XD

Issues With Button Placement??

I am interested in getting this phone, but my only concern is the button placement on the Right side of the phone, when you make a call don't the buttons accidentally get clicked like the Camera button whole holding it?
This is one thing that seems to be deterring me from getting it, what do you guys think?
I usually use the space free on the other side on the buttons to place the fat finger. I never had that problem. I think it is comfortable to use with a call
No issues. You have to actually give it a good click to use the buttons.

No issue at all
