Hey guys need some help...
I downloaded the e4gauto root from the sticky. I followed the instructions, selected option a, the program did its thing and said its complete. I downloaded the rom manager from the market and downloaded Calkulins E4GT ROM v 2.8.1. I tried to install it through rom manager / sd card but I get an error message. I also tried to back up my current rom and got the same error.
Installing package...

E:failed to verify whole-file signature

Any suggestions?
Thanks

Then use the auto root and install the el29+cwm.
After that wipe wipe wipe install calks rom.
Edit: make sure to have ure phone in usb debbuging when using the auto root program.

lol. why is everyone doing auto root and all that. I would just odin a kernel with cwm infused. then go into recovery and flash your modems roms and kernels.
Make sure you are rooted. The "complete" message doesn't mean it gave you root access. You can look for super user in you apps . If you have it then download a program that requires root from the market to test and see if the root access is functioning properly. then download the ROM again. sometimes roms will have corrupt files when you download them. And to be safe and sure boot in to recovery and install from there instead of using ROM manager. Follow the standard procedure of flashing (wipping and etc...). Good luck.

this. and then you could a new ROM rather than just a kernel.

just realised that above message comes up when try to boot via ROM Manager. If i try to boot into recovery manually , no messages comes but it freezes and only option that works in 1st one - Reboot... Please advise , I just used Andriod Flasher reflashed the recovery image but still same issue...
Have you tried to redownload the zip? Maybe it's just corrupted.
2 questions - which zip and from where ??
The zip that you are trying to flash, also I think that this error comes up if you don't have enough space on "cache" partition in order to extract it.
Yeah I have tried more 1 zip files, also removed ROM manager but still freezing in recovery menu., can not choose any option other then reboot?

Have you tried going back to RA 1.7.5 or ClockworkMod 2.5.0.7, read something in the Leedroid thread about issues with the newer versions.
So if I need to try old version how do I do it, I mean do I need to remove v 2.0 someway or just flash over 2.0 straight away

Alright ive been trying now for a few days to flash a new cm7 nightly. Ive tried a few things, diffrent versions of cwm an tried via rom manager (install rom from sd card), tried fake flash a recovery and flashing .img recovery but i always get the same error.
Something like "finding package, opening package, cant open /sdcard/"romname", installation aborted"
Does anyone know of an easy way to fix this?
I want a new rom or atleast a newer nightly

In CWM it'll be "toggle signature verification" I had this problem once and that was the solution!

Anyone?
I had the same issue a while ago, re-downloading the ROM zip worked for me
Sent from my CM7.1 Desire using XDA Premium App
Yeah re-downloading the ROM was best fix for me, I remember it did it twice or three times before one actually worked.. alternatively you could always flash a different recovery (properly not fake flash) and see how that goes.
To make sure the download is complete, check the md5sum of the downloaded file in case you have one to compare. Otherwise, you could ask in the corresponding thread for it.
i flashed the newest cwm i found and still got the same problem, i've downloaded about 10 times but i always get the same error.
But i how do i find out the md5sum?
hmm.. try the recovery from my signature, flash it via fastboot.
Nothing worked so far.
Will try RA-Desire CM recovery when i get home ...
Looks like my noobness has got me a bit confused -- I tried manually installing EH06 on my Epic 4G, and later upgraded to E17. Here's what the phone reads:
Baseband version: S700.0.5S.EH17
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.EH06
- How's that possible?
- What's the best way to get to EI22?
Thank you in advance!

Flash Legendary or EI22 ROM of choice, Odin in the EC05 modem then flash the EC05 to EI22 modem updater found in the stickies in development forum modems thread.

Ok, back to EC05, but unable to flash to EI22

You don't apply update. You "install zip from sd card"

I don't see an "install zip from sd card". All I see are 4 options to:
- reboot system now
- apply update from sdcard
- wipe data/factory reset
- wipe cache partition
Sounds like someone does not have cwm

This message comes from using the Samsung recovery tool. Use ODIN to install CWM 3.1.0.1 then boot into CWM via the three button method. It'll work after this.

Hey noob, watch some qbking77 vids on youtube, or leave your phone alone. Why would you bother with a gingerbread leak when the ei22 official is dropped?

If you are using ROM Manager or something else to get to recovery DON'T! If you were able to get EH06 on your phone you should be able to do this. You should have CWM on your phone. Power off your phone. Now press and hold the camera button and volume down button. Now while still holding those press and hold the power button. Now you should see clockworkmod.

You weren't on the EC05 modem. It's getting confused by that. You'll have to flash in Odin. Put modem in phone slot, uncheck all but auto-reboot, run.
Well his issue was two fold. He didn't have CWM installed and did not ODIN the EC05 modem.
I just installed CM9 last night on my SPH-D710 and have CWM 6x. I know the reason I don't have Google Apps, I need to know how I can get them installed.
All the sources I've found lead me to goo.im to download an md5 file and then to have ROM Manager flash it. I've tried a few times to redownload and flash but in the recovery mode I get
E:failed to seek in /cache/update.zip (invalid argument)
E:signature verification failed
E:Can't open /cache/update.zip (bad)
Installation aborted
(and then my guy dies )
Is there another download/method to get the google apps back on my phone?

First off DO NOT use ROM manager on the E4gt it has been known to cause major issues from what I have read.
Second for Gapps all you need is the file here http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
Install from zip in CWM and you are good to go

Thank you for your response.
Are you saying I shouldn't have used ROM Manager to flash CM9?? If I recall, which I'm no expert and it took quite a few hours, I used ROM Manager to boot into recovery in order to add CM9. Is there a different way that's just as easy?
If you mean not to use it for flashing AFTERWARDS, what should I do in order to get the gapps link you posted to work? I downloaded that twice and tried ROM Manager and it didn't work. Should I use a different app?

From what I have read here ROM manager can cause bricked devices so it is safest not to use it at all ..easiest way is to boot into CWM recovery and flash from there .. if you need help youtube QBKING77 he has great instructional videos to walk you through it all with ease
lol.. why didnt you just read the op of the rom you were flashing? it gives clear instructions and links on flashing gapps

i second this.
why are people so afraid of reading ops nowadays. they give you everything you need to know to flash a rom without bricking your device.
but anyway. DO NOT USE ROM MANAGER!!!! never ever.
Yep. Follow the instructions in the OP, download Gapps and flash in recovery...
Phone: Samsung SGH-I317
Android Version: 4.1.2
I got my new note 2 last week and made it about 2 days before i had to root it and install CWM as i had on my Galaxy SII (which was on US Cellular). I rooted it without difficulty, installed rom manager and installed the newest version of CWM for the Note 2 v6.0.2.5. Here is where my first and only problem has come up.
I tried doing a small 8.45mb OTA AT&T update on the phone ( i did the 4.1.2 OTA update before i rooted it). It downloaded no problem then brought the prompt up that the phone must restart to install. It goes to CWM recovery no problem to install then i get this.

I have searched XDA, google, ect trying to find an answer but am at a loss to why i cant install the OTA updates. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks XDA for the help.
Generally if you have a custom recovery installed you can not install OTA`s
Same happened to with the S3. Any fix?
No fix...
Unless the device uses the stock 3e recovery. ..
The device can be returned to stock...then the OTA taken. ..then root and flash the custom recovery again. ..
Then back up the newer build for later use. ..g
