"Download unsuccessful" - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Whenever I download something with the browswr, it always goes to 99% then instead of saying download complete.
It shows download unsuccessful.
This has happened on wifi, 4g lte, and 3g. I always had signal when I downloaded the files. I've had this problem on stock 4.0.2 and CM9 kang (current rom).
Is this a known issue that all galaxy nexus owners experience? Or is it just me? Please help... can't download anything with my phone...

Not very helpful, but I've never had any trouble downloading in browser. Are you using stock browser?

Yes. I feel in ics, there's no real need for third party browser so I always use the stock browser.

Probably, maybe it would be worth it if the problem is fixed though?

I have this problem and i agree it shouldn't happen but, as a work-around, what i do is go to the download folder in App drawer and "retry" the download. I would say i get over a 95% success rate by "retrying" downloads.

Yeah, sometimes I have to retry like 5 times.

I have this problem as well. I just keep retrying till it succeeds. Not a huge deal since 4G is decent in my area.

All this talk is useless without posting whether or not you've installed a custom rom or kernel.
I had the issue on some old franco/aokp versions. seems to have gone away now.

OK...
I was running Franco/cm9 kang when I had my problems.
Now that I'm on gummy and the included kernel, the problems have yet to surface.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium

Thanks for all the info guys.
I really like cm9 kang so I do not want to flash other roms.
But clearing the browser data has helped!
Until now it has successfully downloaded everything on the first try . So thanks again

I have this problem on stock nexus. I sometimes have to hit retry 3 or 4 times.

When will people realize we can not see a hardware problem in a screenshot?
We cannot see what you are talking about. Unless you mean the letters on the app names.
If so I'd say reflash from scratch

Couple other threads on this. Its something with the launcher getting corrupted.
Please forgive my ignorance but how do I reflash my 4.0.4 firmware?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
Try clearing the launcher data first before flashing the stock images
settings>apps>all>launcher
OK El Daddy I have done that.
I shall monitor the situation and see if that sorts it.

I've had something similar happen a couple times except some of the characters were black.
Non rooted locked VZW LTE with Apex pro.
I would attach a screen shot but don't have enough posts.
Umm.... actually if it was a hardware problem it wouldn't be displayed in a screenshot, did you change the font?
And, cool!! You use bump!
Inviato dal mio GT-S5660 con XDA Premium
No I didn't change the font.
I don't get to use bump often but I feel it is a handy app to have.
So far what El suggested has worked. But will keep you updated.

This issue is still apparent. Anyone have any other ideas?

what are the widgets you have running? I read a while back people were having this issue due to widgets based on old API's and not scaling properly.

What does everyone's etc/gps.config look like? Please copy and paste gps.config folder here. I might have screwed something up.

do you want GPS.config from Jelly Bean 4.1.1 or from ICS 4.0 - 4.0.4?
Download the ROMs and check the gps.cofig file and if you screwed it up then you can replace it if your Nexus is rooted..

What ROM you are using? try to flash it again if it is custom ROM!
and if it is not helping then flash another ROM..
for me the GPS works fine on Jelly Bean 4.1.1 "takju", I'm using XXLF1 radio baseband, are you using custom kernel?
I think I fixed it. It locks on now after rebooting the phone. I'll delete this thread. Now I'm having issues with the booting lol. It takes like 2-3 minutes to move past the Google logo to the Nexus logo. Is that normal?

No it's not normal!
Google logo shows after 1-2 seconds when you boot it, then google logo shows something 2-3 seconds and then booting something 20-45 seconds usually.
Yeah I thought so. I don't know what to do about it.

What could it be?

My phone phone has shut down twice today for not apparent reason.
Once I had it sitting on my desk and the second time it was in my pocket.
I saw a video that it might be the battery connectors but in my case I was not able to replicate it.
So what else could it be?

As stated by another user, occasional reboots are "normal" on 4.2.1 but twice a day is a bit ridiculous.
If I may suggest a substitute ROM in which I don't really experience any reboots, it is pretty much stock with tweaks, no AOKP, CM10, PA, eye candy, just a fast stable ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1821673
Yeah I really wouldn't mind a soft reboot or even a reboot once in a while but I have had 3 shut-offs in the last 2 days it wasn't even a reboot, which makes me wonder if it's hardware rather than software.
Thanks for the suggestion but at this point I really don't want to flash a ROM, I will most likely end up coming back to stock at some point if I do.

I found that uninstalling the last couple apps I installed stopped the sleep of deaths.

Double check that your kernel settings are stock and you haven't done any tweaks that could cause kernel panic
