Hello, when I power up the phone it just gets stuck at the white "HTC EVO 4G" screen. The phone is not rooted or has ever had an attempt at being rooted. When holding down VOL UP + POWER, it displays the following:
SUPERSONIC EVT2-3 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.79.0000
MICROP-041f
TOUCH PANEL-ATMEL224_16ab
RADIO-1.39.00.4.26

and in the SD card there are no .zip files any where. Please help me, I am not trying to root the phone I just want it to be all stock from the store. Thanks
Have you not considered bringing it into a Sprint store, considering you have never modified it?
Sent from my froyo using the xda app
Its closed right now so I'm trying to get some help on here. Can anyone help me on how to try and do a full reset stock? I already cleared all cache and did clear storage. I believe I need the zip files so bootloader can flash? Help please
What about loading an official Sprint RUU?
Sent from my froyo using the xda app
the RUU doesn't work because the phone wont go beyond white screen.
First - Download the stock 3.30.651.3 RUU from the below link. That's the most recent one.
http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Supersonic
Second - Download and install HTC Sync on your PC if you do not already have it installed. You can do a google search for it but it was probably included on your sdcard in a folder named HTC.
Third - the screen you arrive at when you power on the phone while holding doewn the volume down button is called the Bootloader. Select "Fastboot" from the options and connect your phone to your PC.
Fourth - When the phone is in fastboot can run the RUU.exe file from your PC. All you need to do is double click on it and it will walk you through the rest. And, will completely reinstall the stock ROM which will take about 10 minutes.
If that doesn't work you have no choice but to go to a Sprint store because that is as factory reset as you can get.
WORKS!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!! I did not know fastboot would allow RUU to work. Thanks again! Mods please lock thread.

Bad Advice.
You needed to use the 3.29 RUU, 3.30 was never meant to be installed on older phones. It has an entirely different partition structure, hBoot, camera drivers, recovery, kernel. Everything.
It will probably work but it won't perform as well as it should and will most likely be buggy.
I've been running Warm 2.2 for a couple of months now, but lately I've been getting a lot of internet connection issues, today - I spent the entire day not being able to connect to 3G, don't know why so I figured I'd update the Radio,
Whatever that means..
managed to find updated versions on this website of the Radio, Wimax, Hboot and all those PIC, PICM, whatever it's called..
Rebooted to recovery, and flashed all the zip files, and now i'm STUCK there. Every time the phone restarts it just brings me back to the same old screen that says:
SUPERSONIC EVT2-2 SHIP S-ON

What do I do now? can I flash a new ROM using the USB cable? I don't think i have a micro sd card reader on me...
Anyway to fix this? I'd rather not wipe my device, but I can do it if I have to.
HELP
THANK YOU.
i might be wrong but i think your s-on means you lost root. but is you see the recovery option, i would go in there and try to restore a backup, hopefully you have one
Ahha.. a backup.. that would be nice :\
no backup here..

Go to the following site http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715485 and download the EVO_Radio, the WiMAX, PRI and NV "individually". Afterwards, connect your EVO to your computer and boot up. If you're taken to the bootloader screen like you stated in your post, select recovery from the list of options. Hopefully, you're using amon RA v2.3. Anyway, If you can get into recovery, select the MS-USB option. Your computer should detect your SD card shortly afterward. Copy the files you downloaded to your SD card. When complete, eject/unmount the SD card from your computer first and then push the power button on your EVO to unmount from within recovery. Now go to the wipe menu and wipe the cache & dalvik. After that, go to the flash menu and flash the PRI. You should reboot to the radio update screen. Be patient and DO NOT PULL THE BATTERY. When complete, you should reboot back into recovery. If you happen to reboot back to the bootloader, simply select recovery from the available options. Now flash the EVO_Radio. Like before, you will reboot to the radio update screen. Be patient and DO NOT PULL THE BATTERY. After some time, you should reboot back into recovery. If not, get to recovery from within the bootloader screen. Do the same thing for the NV and the WiMAX. You *may* have to reflash the HBOOT. Anyway, after you've updated your radios, reflash the recovery. I HIGHLY recommend RA v2.3 You can download the PC36IMG.zip file for it here: http://files.androidspin.com/downloads.php?dir=amon_ra/RECOVERY/&file=PC36IMG.zip
After that, see if you can boot to your homescreen. If you can, great. If you cannot, try reflashing the rom. Remember, after flashing the radios and preparing to boot to your homescreen, you will appear to hang at the white EVO screen. Be patient and DO NOT PULL THE BATTERY. It will eventually clear. Hopefully, this will help you. Take care.

Great catch!...... I totally missed seeing the "S-ON" in the OP's post and you're right, that usually means he is no longer rooted and need to re-root his device. OP, disregard my last post and RE-ROOT your device.

Well, if you can get to the bootloader, it's unlikely that you're bricked. You *should* be able to recover here. The other guy is correct, since you're now S on, you lost root. Do you still have recovery? When you select 'recovery' from the bootloader, what result are you left with? (do you successfully boot to custom recovery, does it bring you back to the bootloader, or does it show you a black screen with a red triangle in it? If you still have recovery (I doubt you do, for some reason), then you should be able to flash the Unrevoked Forever S off tool, to set you back to S off. From that point, you should be able to flash a new rom.
However, I'm guessing that you lost recovery (for whatever reason), and you'll probably need to run an RUU, to try to flash the phone back to stock. From that point, you could re root again.
You can find an RUU here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=884060&highlight=hboot-0.97+ruu. Download the newest one, i believe it's the first on the page (3.70 software).
Edit: And about wiping your device, it seems as though that's already happened, ha. I don't think your stuff is coming back. Your only hope to get it back would be a nandroid backup, but you said you don't have one. We don't even know if you have recovery or not. Once you find that out, we'll know a lot more. If you're lucky, and still have recovery, it will be quick and easy for you to get back up and running.
Double Edit: OP. What recovery were you using? Did the radio flash seem to be successful, and then you just couldn't boot up afterward? Did you recieve any error messages when flashing it or anything like that?
Bricked means it won't even turn on...you just lost root. Do what the other posters said and please, read and take your time. You don't seem to have a firm grip on the whole rooting process.
You probably upgraded your hboot which is why you lost s-off and your phone won't boot. You can flash a kernel to get it to boot but you will need to get s-off back before you will be able to flash the radios.

I purchased my son the Droid Inc on EBay and all was well for about a week and he said it would reboot randomly often and then a couple days ago it started the boot loop but it only goes to the white boot screen with the Droid Inc screen and reboots over and over.
I do not have the phone with me at the moment but it is fully stock with S-on and I tried recovery and everything I have read here but it just goes back to bootlooping. I have been lurking around XDA for quite some time trying to educate myself but have never rooted or installed any ROMs, I am a total noob and I really enjoy reading XDA and I am a android fanatic and keep up on all the news and equipment daily.
I currently have a Maxx which I received for a replacement for my Rezound which I went through 7 of them because of various issues such as the temperature reaching upwards of 138 degrees and bootloops and other issues and I eventually had enough and insisted on a comparable replacement and they sent me a droid inc 4g first and I was not happy just seeing how small the screen was and the internal storage being only 8gb so I had them give me something else so ended with the maxx.
Anyway, I really envy all the knowledge everyone here has and hope to learn how to do all this eventually.
Is there anyone who knows if there's a fix for the bootloop issue, and if so I would greatly appreciate the help and any direction which I may be lead. I am looking forward to any answers available.
Also this is my first post so I hope I put this in the correct place. Thank you in advance!!

You can try a factory reset from the hboot menu. To get to hboot pull the battery, reinsert, and hold vol down and power till a white screen appears (hboot). From there select factory reset. If that dosent solve the issue, you will need to do an ruu. Download this file http://dinc.does-it.net/Stock_Images/4.08.605.15/PB31IMG.zip, and place it on your sdcard in no folders. Then boot to hboot as described earlier. Hboot should automaticly find the file and prompt you to press vol up to install. When its done press vol up again to reboot. That should fix your issues. Note that either one of these options will wipe all the data on the phone.
Thanks a Bunch! I did try the factory reset from hboot and that did not work so I will be trying the alternative method later. I will let you know if it works and if i have any other questions. Once again Thanks for the help and it is greatly appreciated!

I pulled my sd card before bed and let it do it's thing at 2 am. That fixed it for me. Never did it again after that night. Worked for some other people as well. My phone had been booting every night for weeks before I tried this. Not since. Just put sd card back in in the morning and should be good to go.

I did the ruu as your instructions stated and it went through the install and all seemed well, after it installed it asked if I wanted to reboot and i said yes and it went right back to the bootloop, going through just the white Droid incredible screen over and over. at the top of Hboot it says:

Not sure if this helps but if there is something else that might work it would be greatly appreciated. Do I need to root the phone for this to work and if so where could I find those instructions? Thank you for your time and I hope there is a possible fix.
One more question, I added it to the card which it had other files on. would it matter if I re formated the card and had just hat file in it?

I would backup the sdcard to your pc, format it fat32, and try again with just the PB31IMG.zip file on there. It really shouldnt matter but its worth a try.
If it still dosent work, your next step would be to try to root. You will need to go to http://htcdev.com/bootloader and unlock the bootloader skipping the ruu/hboot update part as you are already on the newest ublockable one. You can use this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1506258, following steps 1 thru 21. Or this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1600904 following steps 1 thru 3. Both do the same thing just wrote up a little differently. Once you get that, post back and i will tell you what to do from there unless you already know.
Sounds good, I will be doing that later and I will keep you posted!

I have not had time to attempt the root up until now and I totally forgot to backup the memory card before formatting it. Is that a problem? There is no important personal information that I needed on it but was there anything else which I needed to save? I hope not! I registered on htcdev and I am ready to unlock the bootloader but before going any farther I just want to make sure there is nothing else I need that may have been on the memory card prior to reformatting?

Hi,
Had same problem.... HTC Incredible
Found this....
youtube /watch?v=sCdTmE-OpAs
worked for me....
Hold volume button, then press power button quickly.
Displays Menu.
Select Clear Storage.
Reboot phone.
As far as I could decipher.... and I'm probably wrong...
It has something to do with email attachments and an errant update. They also indicated it was a Verizon issue.
Since I use Verizon I could not chase that info down for validity.
Hope this helps...

Hello,
I know this thread is old, but I still use my droidinc as an ip camera at home and it is still my backup phone if my current phone fails. The other night it went into an endless rebooting cycle where it never gets past the first HTC screen. This is what my hboot screen has:

I've tried removing the batter, the sd card, clearing storage, and factory reset with none of them working.
Then I tried formatting the sdcard in the fat 32 and then putting just the PB31IMG.zip file there and the booting hboot, but nothing happened. So I tried to begin the process of rooting my phone by following the instructions above. I wasn't sure if I needed the ruu/hboot update since I believe my phone is up-to-date before it crashed. I followed the first guide you listed, but when I get to this page: http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/windows_hboot_driver_install, I am unable to complete the steps. The Android device briefly shows under the Other tab, but then windows finds the driver software for it and it becomes listed as HTC Serial Interface (COM3) under the Ports (COM & LPT) tab which is not what the instructions show. So I'm lost on what to do. I'm also a noob so I apologize for that in advance.

I decided to try to PB31IMG.zip file one more time. This time it actually tried to load the file when I went into HBOOT, then I got this message:

The ruu i posted above should still work if your s-on, as it is an official signed image. Place it on your sdcard in no folders named exactly PB31IMG.zip. Boot to hboot and wait a few secs, hboot should find the file and prompt you to press vol up to update.
I put the file in the root of my sd card but when i boot into hboot, I am not prompted with anything. I made sure that the file name is correct as well. Could there be something else I am doing wrong?

Try backing up and then reformating your sdcard fat32 with a pc. Then try again with only the PB31IMG.zip om the sd.
I can’t delete apps and I can’t reset my phone
For Gizmoe first time post, thanks for your info I found it with a google search, I was trying to follow your suggestion to FiFa_JockeR, but HTC does not have my phone on their web site. Can you please try to help me reset my phone somehow?
I have a HTC Incredible (ADR6300) and I just want to start over with this phone. Verizon stores no help, HTC customer service no help. They try to do what I’ve done already, “a factory reset”. But it just does not reset! with or without the SD card. This all started with the force closes on a few apps. Then I thought I would delete allot of apps just for the heck of it, then I ran into another problem. I can delete an app(s) while the phone is on but when the phone is rebooted or turned off then on again the deleted app(s) reappears. So I can’t delete apps and I can’t reset my phone. It’s exactly the same as FiFa_JockeR (just like the pictures) only we have different phones from HTC. PS phone has never been rooted.

Then I tried this

anyway
now it takes about 4 minutes to get past the eye portion of the bootup, then I get “sorry the application bla bla bla has stopped unexpectedly.
please try again. this happens to what must be every app on my phone.
even if I go to settings I get the same thing “sorry the application.........
I just don’t know what to do.
I think the post by cmlusco on Re: [Q] Return to stock might be what I need but I really don’t understand it. I only downloaded the last file because I thought it was all I needed.

sorry if I’m not posting in the right place.

I am stuck with a rather expensive HTC paperweight and I hope to get some guidelines from a kind soul here.
I had this phone (functioning perfectly) for a while and recently I tried selling it to someone. Just one day later, the guy comes back to me asking for his money back and claiming that he "tried to do some updates and it failed".
Now the phone is stuck in a white background and colour text menu state. This is what I get on the screen :
*** Software status: Modified ***
*** UNLOCKED ***
*** S-ON ***
<VOL UP> to previous item
<VOL DOWN> to next item
<POWER> to select item
REBOOT
REBOOT TO BOOTLOADER
BOOT TO DOWNLOAD MODE
BOOT TO RECOVERY MODE
POWER DOWN
Now, if I choose REBOOT TO BOOTLOADER, it does a restart and gets back to the same menu
If I choose BOOT TO DOWNLOAD, it goes to a red-blue-yellow text on black background menu with this text:
hTC download mode
*** UNLOCKED ***
htc_himauhl PVT S-ON
LK-1.0.0.0000
RADIO-01.01_U11440061_52a.01.50225G_2
OpenDSP-v20.2.6-00452-M8994_0216
OS-1 .32.401.3
Feb 27 2015, 15:11:23(493992)
system info
show barcode
reboot to bootloader
reboot to download mode
reboot
power down

If I choose BOOT TO RECOVERY MODE I get to something called Team Win Recovery Project v2.8.7.0 and 8 main tiles , each leading to a sub-menu.
Given all the info so far, could you, please, point me towards a procedure/tutorial to get the phone back running. I am not/never was interested in tuning/upgrading the phone in any way other than stock. All I want is a normal, usable HTC M9.
Thanks in advance and I hope for a positive answer!
I guess it wasn't you who changed the phone. So I assume the buyer of the phone did at least the following:
1. unlock bootloader per HTCDev
2. flash custom TWRP recovery
I'd guess he tried to flash a custom ROM as well, but maybe didn't know what he was about to do and how to revert back to stock.
So he took the easiest way to bring it back to you without telling you what he did.
The best way would be to flash an RUU of version 1.32.401.3. You could try find it within the Stock Backups and RUU thread. If you need any help flashing it, quote me here.

Hi 5m4r7ph0n36uru,
Thank you for the reply, it's been very helpful. First things first, I think I might have solved it. I downloaded the first RUU from docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15K6xhb6wtosp9j8yu4xHBZ6n9v5OaFSW6ZVWxC4u_qc/pubhtml#
because I couldn't find 1.32.401.3 anywhere. I put the zip on a 4GB sdcard and rebooted to download mode. A few restarts later and the phone was back in Android setup wizard. I also tried a SIM card and it works.
the problem now is that I cannot get rid of the annoying DEMO app that keeps popping up.
Is there a way to delete it permanently?
Could it be that the RUU I installed was a demo one?
Any advices on this?
Otherwise, I am perfectly happy so far. One more thing: I seem to have deleted or unninstalled that TWRP thing since I cannot access it by rebooting the phone to recovery. Not complaining, just noticed it.
Thanks again, good people!

Nevermind, I just disabled the notifications for that app and it doesn't bother me now! Have a great day!
