I updated my bootloader and unlocked it with HTCDev. Tried to root with HTC Super Tool v3 and v2 but it failed.Than I tried "DooMLoRD's Easy Rooting Toolkit" it failed too. I don't want to root with root.zip stuff. Is there a root/unroot tool that i can use?
Did Supertool say it had rooted your phone? If so try installing Superuser and Busybox from the Android market. Worked for me.
Did you get any error messages which my help explain what went wrong?

SuperTool does't work by me either phone was rooted without root
Try UnlockRoot works great
About the kernel - works on 2.3.5 but my WFS allows only 786Mhz

Try to use this one here. It is the same one used to root the 3.6.360 update. Takes a few minutes to work so be patient. Might be more than a few cycles through it too. But it worked for me with the 3.6.360 update and for Froyo too.

Get the superoneclick files, but do it without superonclick.
Follow these steps, but change names accordingly.

z4root don't work on firmware 2.51.0 or later. It won't hurt trying though.

it's called windows
(but you can also search but the ADB method and see if it works)
Simple root!
Easiest way to root is to download an app called Z4root.
Its a one click root and best of all with another click you can "unroot" the device. Not compatible with all devices so it would pay to check the apps website but it works with motorola defy

On the computer must be installed NET.Framework, JDK, Android SDK, thus on the phone in USB Connection select Motorola Phone Portal, enable USB Debugging(settings/ application/ development) in settings. Old version do not work on froyo. After root it must be rebooting a phone. If you can not root, reboot your phone and computer and try again. If the proccess stop on "waiting for device", then until plug in the phone unselect USB Debugging, when you see "waiting for device", Select USB Debugging.
Last version of Superoneclick - is the best solution for rooting our Device, with any FW version. Try to use both exploits (sounds something like: "psneuter" and "reageistcach") - you can chose one of it in the up-right corner of Superoneclick window
Try to reboot your phone, keep it on the debug mode and then root it(SuperOneClick2.1 is recommended!).By the way, have you installed the drivers correctly?
update your SuperOneClick to 1.7
1.8 doesnt work for me

I assume you are using Windows: Do you have the drivers installed for the phone?
If not, install HTC Sync (that will install all the drivers needed) and remove it again. Then try again.

If I remember correctly, yes. Have you tried that?
I had hboot 1.01.001 when I got S-OFF with alpharevx.
Worked like a charm!

does it works for HBOOT 1.01.002?
There are different versions of 1.01.0002. AlphaRev X does not work with all of these .0002 versions. You might want to downgrade your HBoot to 1.01.0001, then it will work.
Guide to downgrade can be found here:

i have dhd with s-off
rom ver is 3.12 with sence 3.0
i want to root my device but DONOT want any custom recovery on my device ..
Why do you want root access without cm recovery?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Well if you already have S-off what do you mean by that you want to root your phone? Isn't is already rooted? Also Clockworkmod recovery is used to have root access so that we can flash Custom ROMs, if you don't want any custom ROM why at the first instant you want to root your device?
i do not want to use cm recovery or any option it offers so why to flash that area ...
just need root access over system for using softwares that require root access ..

If you have S-OFF then you probably should have root. Then you can overite system files!
no root is not there ....
even via adb commands root access is missing
Then how did you get S-OFF?

I replied to your question in modaco but I mentioned again here, do you do the bootloader unlock procedure first before you run the superboot ?
I'll make a simple tutorial later on how to unlock and root the htc one v.
^
hii, sorry i havent checked modaco yet. i just got the phone like 2 days, so i havent done to the bootloader. it's still s-off tho. so what am i supposed to do before flashing the boot.img ?
thanks

Continue discussion here as I seldom go to MoDaCo thread... I'll post "how to" later (say in next two hours when I'm at home).
EDIT: I made a simple tutorial on how to root your htc one v HERE
in htcdev, i have t pick "all supported devices" ?
because there's no htc one v option

If the phone is S-OFF then you don't need to unlock the bootloader. Just root it.

Right... if it is already s-off, just download the SuperSU from Play store and you are done.
@handisetyadi - is your bootloader written there s-off ? Please recheck.

S-OFF doesn't mean that the phone is rooted. He needs to do this first:
ckpv5 said:
Rooting with Superboot
1. Download r1-primo-superboot.zip to your computer and extract in any directory.
2. Download the modded boot.superboot.img
3. Replace the boot.superboot.img in the folder that you extracted just now (r1-primo-superboot).
4. Power off your phone by holding the power button down for 10 seconds
5. Power your phone on by holding power and volume down (going to Fastboot mode)
6. Highlight Fastboot With Volume+or- then press Power
7. Connect your phone to PC
8. Double click ‘install-superboot-windows.bat’
Once it complete, the phone will reboot on its own. In app drawer you will see a SuperSU icon, click on it and update SU binary then you are done with rooting your Htc One V.
You can try any app with root access to confirm it is working.

He needs to do that only to have root and full ADB root access, if he already s-off and needs only root, just download the SuperSU from Play Store but no ADB access.
But I guess his One V is S-On, that is why he failed to flash the boot.img the first time he tried.
I just s off it and root it. But it seems it doesnt have root access yet. But i already have SU app.
Everytime i go to root uninstaller app, it asks me for adb access which i dont know how.
And also, when o try to update SU binary, it always fails. Everything is ok except the busybox checking and Gaining root access

There's a sticky Tutorial on how to root and unlock the bootloader. I looked through it, and everything you need is right there. For the time being, I will be closing this thread, to avoid any conflict with the sticky.

Then use Nokia X Manager to fully unroot your device.
If you have SU installed, go to SU and try the 'Full Unroot' option. Some are suggesting to use Nokia X Manager, but it would not work. Because Nokia X Manager shows the same instruction I gave you as a message. It tells to go to SU and use the 'Full Unroot' option'.
I root my Nokia x using my pc and now I did a root check and it telling me "my device is not well rooted" and I can't do things a rooted device should do...then I try to root it using farmaroot but its giving me error #3 , try uprooting it and its giving me same error massage
