Stuck in 2.3.4, need help to get root. - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

I've just renewed my contract with Verizon, I had a Droid incredible 1 running CM7 (love it btw), and just got a Droid incredible 2, but this new phone came with 2.3.4 and as far as I can see it cannot be rooted, right? Is there any successful way/guide to downgrade to 2.3.3?
thanks for the time.

There is a procedure to downgrade and root. Have a look here:
http://androidadvices.com/root-htc-droid-incredible-2-tutorial/

I've checked that manual but it only works on 2.3.3 it doesn't work on 2.3.4 any other link please?

this link doesn't work, any help? thanks

I'm not in front of the computer I used for the downgrade but I remember you have to move all the tools you downloaded into the same folder as the adb tool. Once you do that you can type the adb commands exactly as they appear in the downgrade thread.

You shouldn't need any adb commands. If you are in windows just run the script. You just need to know how to run the script via command prompt.

It works, thanks a lot, had to do it twice though.
Now running i'm running CM7.

Really?I was stuck trying to get the fastboot work... It says "waiting for device"... I mean I've tested the commands adb reboot bootloader, and my phone reboots and I can see my hboot is 0.98, but when I try to test this command: Fastboot reboot it says <waiting for device>... So is my Fastboot not correctly installed?

If you are using windows just run the script.

Glad you got that sorted. It's not as easy as the Inc 1 one-click root.

Since you were on cm7 on your incredible, aeroevan's 7.2 kang might he worth checking out. Its what I'm running, along with his kernel, and I couldn't be happier.

[Q] Already Rooted, Should I use the HTC unlocker?

My Incredible 2 is rooted, S-Off and running the stock ROM. If I use the HTC Unlocker will I lose or gain anything? I would like to get official OTA updates (which I do not accept now in fear of losing Root) rather than flash them from developers. Will Wireless Tether be affected if I use the HTC unlocker? Will programs like Superuser and Busybox and other Root-dependent programs still work? Will I need to re-Root?
Thanks.

That would be the case, as when you unlock it, it says **unlocked** at the top. Once relocked, it will say **relocked** showing it was unlocked before.

HTC unlock doesn't give you s-off so no I don't think there would be any benefit. I also read that people are having trouble installing custom roms.

Is there an Hboot guide? I haven't updated mine since I rooted. Still on 2.10.0001 I keep my radios, PRL and PRI up to date. Do the newer Hboots contain anything useful or something that I don't already get from a custom kernel? Currently running GB roms. Either Tommytomatoe's or SS_Ultra.

Sorry for the bump. I have been unable to find any type of change-log or recommendations. I saw a couple threads recommending updating the hboot for Anthrax or other kernel use. Basically, I am mostly on stock kernel 2.6.35.10.

You don't HAVE to update your radio to use the rom. And if you're on the 2.10 hboot, I'd strongly recommend to NOT change it; one of the most friendly bootloaders.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the ONLY reason to change hboot is from difficulty with rooting, or esn changes.
Other than that, I've been on 3 different hboot versions an can't tell a difference.
If its not broke, don't mess with it. You can really mess up your phone by playing with the hboot.

Today I had to backup my unlocked Razr M (XT905) using TWRP, wipe and then restore. I can confirm that it all worked.
I did have some issues with backing up to the external sdcard tho.

External SD really isn't well supported on the RAZR.. even in the os itself it doesn't really use it.
However that aside twrp works well on the Aussie hardware.

Thanks cellzealot.
Tried flashing it using "fastboot flash recovery twrp-recovery-scorpion_mini.img" in fastboot mode but still got stock recovery? My bootloader is unlocked.
Help? My phone's gone crazy and kept rebooting itself randomly.
Hmm...not sure what to say. That is the image I have on my dev XT907 and should work fine on XT905 with OEM unlock.
Have you tried the one originally posted here by P3Droid?
Either should work although the updated one has better support for JB.

Rooting P930

Ive had this phone for about a week and it came with software version bell 20e on ICS. My WiFi worked but was only able to get gsm data speed.(below 3g). I tried flashing many ROMs but my WiFi wouldn't work on any of them (only on the ICS Rom the phone came with). Then I tried 2 unbrick method to try and flash a new baseband/firmware (not sure which is which)... the first one gave me the original Korean ROM with all the Korean apps(I believe it was 18f kdz). The second one gave me the att ROM (10f kdz). The Korean one gave me WiFi and data but I could not root (tries superoneclick a million times and also tried manual cmd method). The att one gave no WiFi and I haven't tried the data.
My main goal is to be rooted so I can flash cm 10 or 10.1 with at least 3g data and WiFi. I actually really like this phone but all these road bumps are making me want to settle with my old phone optimus 2x. Can anyone help me please? The phone came from China I believe. My carrier is fido in Canada.

Thanks for the response. Did you get the root in one try using the TPSparky method?, becuase I'm on my 4th try now. My phone reboots two times, but the command window always says = 0 (root), And it needs to be id = 0 /root. But I'll keep trying..

FINALLY, I'm rooted. I had to change some things around in the Path Variable string, then i tried Superoneclick first try rooted. Now Installing CMW and flashing roms, I assume i just download Rom Manager from the play store and flash cmw like that right?
So.. Is my phone bricked completely? I tried using cmd to flash 2.3.5 ATT stock.. when i typed in the first code (dd if=/sdcard/boot.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p8) to put boot.img from sdcard to phone, it said that there was no space. However the other codes worked just fine. Then when i turned off the phone to try and put it in recovery mode as the guide instructed my phone screen remains off. Is my phone dead?
Ouch not a good sign. You will know by this hold down volume up and plug into the computer if it goes into download mode you are good but if the screen stays off and the computer gives you an error it is dead and will need to be sent off for repair. Good luck.

Thanks, I'll try it here in about an hour and see if it works. Can it cause a brick or boot loop if its incompatible or will it just say it failed to root with no harm to my phone?
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I'm not certain as I know very little about the 2E variant of the phone so its still doing it at ur own risk.
Rooting compared to everything else such as bootloader unlocking or xposed installation is fairly safe in comparison though. All you essentially are doing though is adding a few files and sideloading SuperSU as far as I'm aware.

I can't seem to get the drivers insatlled.
I downloaded the zip from Asus website, but it's not an .exe file, so I'm stumped on how to install the drivers.
When I launch that root method, it says ADB Server out of date, killing...Daemon started successfully but it doesn't go any further than that.
I'm on Windows 10.
For the drivers, I believe I have the default Google ones installed and that worked fine for me. Don't remember where I got the tutorial from or how I did it anymore.
As for the ADB server try this link. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979.
