My Incredible 2 is rooted, S-Off and running the stock ROM. If I use the HTC Unlocker will I lose or gain anything? I would like to get official OTA updates (which I do not accept now in fear of losing Root) rather than flash them from developers. Will Wireless Tether be affected if I use the HTC unlocker? Will programs like Superuser and Busybox and other Root-dependent programs still work? Will I need to re-Root?
Thanks.

That would be the case, as when you unlock it, it says **unlocked** at the top. Once relocked, it will say **relocked** showing it was unlocked before.

HTC unlock doesn't give you s-off so no I don't think there would be any benefit. I also read that people are having trouble installing custom roms.

you tried with FASTBOOT COMMANDER tool?
While you solve the problem with the sdk it can help you
edit::::::but IF YOU DONĀ“T HAVE (like Mr_JMM & me said to you) THE S-OFF AND ENG OFF THE PROBLEM IS NOT SDK, IS YOUR DEVICE
I've double checked and it is off. The thing is when I open ask manager the command prompt dialog flashes and nothing happens again. I downloaded the bootloader interface driver. Where can I get the fastboot commander from?

Sorry to labour this point, but what method did you check you have radio s-off?
Also, and again, I apologise for the simplistic question but sometimes it's easy to miss something, have you got the phone in Fastboot screen or HBOOT (Bootloader)?
Hi guys I'm terribly sorry. I didn't realise that eng s and radio s are two different things. My bootloader just says ace pvt s off. I tried the eng s off tool I successfully flashed the radio. I had radio s off due to rooting previously. Thanks for your help guys. And I would like to apologise for the inconvenience. Mods please close this thread.

When you run the RUU, it will not overwrite the hboot so you will still be s-off. Then just flash recovery and the revolutionary root zip.
Although why would you do all that? Why not just flash an existing rooted 2.3 Rom?
It appears to me that you don't know what you want
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda premium
Then Go with a custom ROM - Official is a piece of sh*t.
But if you want to go with the official, then flash the HBOOT Downgrader form alpharev.nl then flash official RUU, then use Revolutionary.io to get ROOT and S-OFF - but very soon you will flash a custom ROM
Why bother downgrade to RUU then s-off again when simply flashing the RUU will remain s-off? Pointless

Just like most of the questions here.
I've just renewed my contract with Verizon, I had a Droid incredible 1 running CM7 (love it btw), and just got a Droid incredible 2, but this new phone came with 2.3.4 and as far as I can see it cannot be rooted, right? Is there any successful way/guide to downgrade to 2.3.3?
thanks for the time.

I'm not in front of the computer I used for the downgrade but I remember you have to move all the tools you downloaded into the same folder as the adb tool. Once you do that you can type the adb commands exactly as they appear in the downgrade thread.
You shouldn't need any adb commands. If you are in windows just run the script. You just need to know how to run the script via command prompt.
It works, thanks a lot, had to do it twice though.
Now running i'm running CM7.

Really?I was stuck trying to get the fastboot work... It says "waiting for device"... I mean I've tested the commands adb reboot bootloader, and my phone reboots and I can see my hboot is 0.98, but when I try to test this command: Fastboot reboot it says <waiting for device>... So is my Fastboot not correctly installed?

Glad you got that sorted. It's not as easy as the Inc 1 one-click root.
Since you were on cm7 on your incredible, aeroevan's 7.2 kang might he worth checking out. Its what I'm running, along with his kernel, and I couldn't be happier.

nope; stock
My phone downloading the update but I was rooted, so apparently it failed to verify and the installation was aborted.
Stock and still nothing (Denver, Sprint 32Gb S3)
Updated: 2.6Mb update, had to force it, wasn't available at 1030am but at 1131am it was (MST)
Says security updates, however, if the baseband is updated, doesn't this mean the radio is being updated?
I got the same installation aborted message but then when I check if the system is up to date it says it is.
16gb on the sprint network...received the update around 1pm est
I just got the notice, its a few megs but unable to install since im rooted. it tries to do it through their stock recovery so it has issues with cmw lol
I want to know if root still will work after the update.... if so I will UN root then reroot

I think he is too conditioned on locked bootloaders after an OTA. Lol
I managed to grab the update from my cache partition. At any rate i'm about to unroot and apply it then reroot, grab a nandroid and update my upcoming ROM with it.
Mine went to install and it froze at cwm but now my data keeps cutting off. Some Sprint logging on issue pops up. Even with nandroid restore back.

You don't need a computer to get root, it's not a requirement.
You need to download an app from the play store called Mobile Odin, with that you
can odin flash the required file to get root as well as flash the required cwm zip file
which is required to get root in the galaxy S4.
Thank you.

Yes, i'm pretty sure you're gonna need a computer to root. I don't even think mobile odin is compatible with our phone yet. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.
The other guy is high, you need to be rooted to use mobile Odin, there is no way of rooting this phone without a computer, sucks I know.
