I've heard many people say its possible to make the stock headphones of the galaxy nexus sound like Beat's or even better using just the stock Music equalizer. So Im wondering what setting's do you use in the equlaizer? i mainly listen to hiphop music and rap but sometimes rock/country.
Screenshots would be helpful
I'd like to find out how is that possible too?...

Try Volume+. It has settings for "Beats Emulation" and will work in all applications without fiddling with their own EQs. It's good for "overclocking" the output of your headphones and speaker as well.

Anyone know of any roms that are good for listening to music? I don't mind if its gb or ics... just need a good listening experience as I will be on a long journey tomorrow! Thanks

Any if them. Power amp is a great app for music, I like it a lot.

It's not the rom that made sound quality, but the phone and the headset. What do you use as earphone ?
Get any sense 3.5 rom, make sure it has beats plugin in the stock music player. Choose srs enhancement and play the song...nothing can beat that quality.

So true. Rom or music player won't do anything much, except for some which have dspmod in it. The point is a good headset is the key for a good music. Plus an amp if you could afford one. :hehe:
if you have a long journey than sure you need better battery life install cm7 and with power amo or player pro or winamp or even the stock one with dsp manager should work fine
Thanks for all the posts guys! Know beats aren't loved here but I've got a pair of studios (I got them cheap off a friend not stupid enough to pay more than they are worth). I went with a sense 3.5 rom in the end with power amp and it was great! The only thing is...on quite a few roms, I experience this annoying thing!! Sometimes while listening to music...I'll unlock the screen and this weird noise interrupts the song...sometimes it happens when I lock the phone aswell. Its not the headphones coz it happens with all my headphones :/ I thought it may be rom related but its not

Trying that now...will report back although I've switched to primo s sense 4.0 Rom and the problem seems to be gone :/

Try different Sense 3.5 Rom if you are enabling beats audio. I've noticed that each some Roms don't give the fill Beats experience. It also could just be me. Also flash the xperia xLoud engine found on the Rom that combines rc mix and virtuous. I can't post links cause I'm considered a new member. I find that funny since I have been using this site for 1.5 years yet never signed up till now.
I'm on a sense 4.0 Rom and the problem seems to be gone been on this Rom for 2 days now and haven't experienced the problem! I know what Rom ur talking about....from xxxpachaxxx. That's the Rom I just switched from because of the problem

Finally on the 3.5 Rom you were talking about I didn't have any fuzziness but I did experience increased battery drainage while listening to music compared to other Roms.

power amp
i have tested a lot of music apps on a few phones and need to say that first of all the phone is responsible for the sound quality. Off course the headset is important parallelly ( i use denons plugs which i think are good enough). There is no doubt though that players quality differs. In my opinion power amp is the best ever app to play music on the android phone. You can adjust the sound as much as possible. PLayer pro seems to be good too but there is a kind of whisle noise in the background playing continously and it's disqualifying the app completelly. Other apps are not worth even trying
Amazon MP3?
I know some groan at the thought, but Amazon MP3 is also pretty decent. It's got a built-in EQ with some preset settings, and if you buy music from them at all, it's nice because it will interface directly with your Cloud account. You could d/l a bunch of stuff from your Cloud to your phone (if you have the room) before you go on your journey.
It's not the only music app I use, but it's not bad.
Hello community.
I've recently installed the ICS MIUIv4_2.7.27]v.6.0[AROMA] [Android 4.0.4] ROM on my PLAY. I am loving it so far but there is one(and only)thing that bothers me, I tend to listen to music from the speakers but since I've updated the ROM the volume is very low and quality not the best as I used to have. No option for xLoud not any other loudness manager. Could anybody direct me somewehre I could get it to play music louder and better??
thanks
The play store has a bunch of apps that do.this
Personally, I use Equalizer, just mess with the EQ sliders until.you find something.that works.

There don't seem to be any controls for the synthesizer under Sound. The only app I can access one is from Music Hub which is another stupid, pre-installed subscription service (one day left). I can turn it on there, then use TuneIn/iHeart Radio to stream music. Is there any other way to access the controls?
If your phone is rooted, I suggest DSP Manager. It is an excellent equalizer, which is what I assume you are looking for.

Yeah, that sounds like what I might be looking for. But I'm reading that people are having problems with it on the Note 2 and there are a number of versions of DSP Manager. You wouldn't know which one works, would you?
If not, no biggie. Looks like Music Hub's Equalizer is still functional even though my trial has expired and I have no intentions on renewing it.
Im using noozxoide app. Its free in the market. Fully customizable, and its so far the best sounding one that I've come accross yet. Ive tried the dsp manager with the beats and the acid mods, but most of those just make the sound louder and not so much better. Noozxoide actually makes my music sound full bodied and realistic. Bass can be boosted as well and makes my stock truck stereo sound like I have a subwoofer. The best part is it works with all my music apps, not just the installed music player. I stream pandora exclusively (havent used the radio or cd player in my truck for about two years now) so this really makes listening to music even better. Give it a shot. I dont think you'll be dissapointed. If you don't like it, its easilly uninstalled unlike some of the other mods.

Yes I am. I have a samsung something3000 I got for $30 on Amazon. It has the latest bluetooth audio codecs, so about, if not better than cd quality. It also has a mic for taking phone calls. Sounds awesome.

Hmm pretty sure I have the same Bluetooth. I hear the difference when plugged in to headphones but not on Bluetooth. Any ideas?

Thanks for the recommendation, nuc noob! I downloaded and tried it out -- a very confusing app -- and I wasn't able to get it to sound better with my headphones than the Equalizer in Media Hub (which still functions even if you don't subscribe, thank goodness). So I uninstalled it.
Speaking of headphones, I'm surprised to find out the ones that came with the Note II are actually pretty good as far as bass goes. I tried on a pair of Sony over-the-hear headphones and the volume nor the quality was nearly as good. So I'm fairly happy with everything so far.

Not sure. I went thru all three and set them up my way. I know the blue tooth changes work because I use it the most. I just plug it into the aux in of my truck or into my computer speakers in my room. I adjust the equalizer and room size in the app based on my speaker size and I can tell the difference. My only suggestion is to verify under sytem settings/sound/sound effects, that noozxoide is selected. Ibalso played with every possible setting one by one while listening to music and adjusted to my taste for the wired output, built in speaker, and the wireless output. It may take a while to figure out all the settings, but when you get it all set up, it will be totally worth it.

I have research the problem with fuzzy noise on many songs on my s3 even using power amp, I found many folks that have the same problem. The fuzzy static drives me nuts I'm using klipsch x10 ear buds so they are descent quality. I though maybe a rom change might do it,
Thanks for any advice.
-David
but I tried
well I guess I should have checked this first. The Stock music player seems to fix it. It fixes the songs with fuzzy static but the songs that were clear don't sound as good in the stock player. I'm surprised, power amp has served me well for a long time. I don't know if its the equalizer in power amp or what but power amp (when there's no static") does a song good. Real good. I guess I'll be waiting for an update.
Try neutron music player, it doesn't use the android drivers for audio it had it's own and has no fuzz.

Don't know if this will help but you can try out the AC!D mod
Sent From My AOKP Galaxy S III From Sprint
Weird, I end up with the opposite. Poweramp sounds clear as day and Google music gets fuzzy.
You could use dsp manager, etc, to tweak the eq to improve sounds quality to a degree. The quality and source of your music also is a factor.
Due to the death of my ipod recently I'm having to use my N7100 for music during my daily commute. This has had the effect of me investigating music players and general audio type things.
Kernels have audio settings, and some music players (i.e. gonemad, poweramp) have equalizers built in. If I have audio presets set in the kernel (i.e. eargasm in Neak) and then I play with the equalizer in a player .... is the player tweaking the audio post kernel-tweaking, or does it somehow start with the same input as the kernel? I guess I'm asking if the player overrides the settings in the kernel, or tweaks the tweaked sound?
Hopefully I made sense to someone...
Hmm. The app creates the audio, and hands it to the kernel. The kernel may be processing it further. So I think the overall effect might be of both combined, except if the kernel finds a way to disable the equalizer API of Jelly Bean.
Try playing with the equalizer in the app, make huge changes, and see if it sounds any different. If not, it's likely the kernel having the effect, otherwise it's both combined.
If it's combined, the best way is to disable one and use the other, I'd recommend the kernel equalizer.
