Okay, so i had the balck galaxy s 2 and it never had this problem, but i just got my white galaxy s 2 and every time i reboot, it freezes, and then comes up saying that power manager has crashed. Then nothing works, so i reboot and it does the same thing. I figured there was something wrong with the system, so i rooted and installed the Dewizzed rom, after 3-4 minutes of using it, it freezes, turns black, and then goes to the lock screen and it lost all conections to t-mobile/wifi. changed the rom to the juggernaut and the same thing happened.
Can anyone help? I don't know why this is happening. Never happened with my balck SGS2
probably just a faulty device dude.... return and get another is what I would do

Did you try factory reset? Wipe all data and cache before you flash a different rom?
I agree with the secobd person that posted an answer but theres another solution to it.... just get into download mode im sure you know how to do that... and use odin and flash back to stock... stock rom... that should fix everything.. thats what i do everytime something goes wrong with my fone...

There were problems on stock too. Plus for some reason, stock had a terrible lag. I gues if it doesnt resolve itself i will have to do another exchange (this is my 4th exchange) hopefully with mwc next month, t-mobile will get a few new phones and i will be able to get a working device . Anyways thanks for the help

Lately I've been really annoyed with phone, for some reason it just randomly reboots for God knows what reasons! Is this common or even a known issue ?
Are you running stock or a custom rom and kernel? I've never had a reboot with stock or on Starburst with lostkernel.

I dunno man, if that isn't happening without some 'aftermarket modifications', umm, I'd swap the damn phone. That isn't normal. I never get reboots unless I am overclocking on perf gov with everything maxed out...and that's pretty much it. If you are getting reboots just sitting there or dicking around on the internet that would be more than enough reason for me to take it in and swap it out...especially if you can reproduce the it for them.
Thanks for the replies guys, to answer your questions no I'm completely stock running stock kernel and it happens whenever I'm online or some apps will trigger it. I'd hate to restore but I think it's the only way
Ive had it a couple times.
It started after uploading app from market installing it while I was deleting one at same time
device crashed reboot took place.
From that point a had a couple reboots within days Touchwiz error displaying automatically going to phone keypad no escape from it.
I ended up doing factory reset fixed it all is well
did you by chance take an SD card out if another phone and pop it into that phone? if so, back up whatever data is on it, and try formatting it (if that cures the reboots, obviously something on the sd is corrupt and not cooperating with the system... dont restore anything from that backup you took after formatting) I would then try a facotry reset if the previous doesn't work. if the factory reset doesn't cure it, I'd swap the phone.

Thanks guys, I installed all the apps I could to the sd card. In other words all the apps were in the internal memory and that seems to fix the issue.
I'm not rooted and I'm getting random reboots.
Swyped from my Samsung Galaxy SII EPIC 4g Touch on XDA Premium!
So...does anyone else get this problem?
It is intermittent but very annoying when it happens. When I go to a contact and swipe there name to call them the phone will not call.. it freezes up and then 20 seconds or so later will call.
Anyone else get this?

it does it immediately for me
Thats not it. It does it with nothing running in the background. I've checked that before. I've killed everything then tried and still did it

I had that on complete stock kl1. I used tl swipe over and pver again and then like 20 seconds later it used register all the swipes at once and call like 5 times. Really annoying. I flashed stock deodexed and the problem hasn't happened since.

same here.. happens ALL the time for me.. was thinking about taking my phone in for it.
That's why I posted this.. if this is not a common problem and only a few people are experiencing it.. I'm gonna have my phone replaced

Don't think replacing the phone will solve it.
Try stock Deoxed or any one of the custom ROMS. I've been running smooth as butter with Vultures 4.1 + Synergy Kernel and getting better batt. life than stock.
Hope that helps.

Why wouldnt replacing the phone solve it? That doesnt make sense.. i never had that problem before rooting and hella-flashing.. it has to be an issue with the phone. (For the record, that doesnt mean i dont recommend flashing a custom rom and kernal!! )

My phone is completely stock (not even rooted) and it occasionally does the same thing you describe. I just reboot when it does it and it seems to stop.

Because sometimes odex files will mess up things if it was your phone. You would have problems swiping left to right for screens. Meaning the digitizer was damage. Just flash a Rom and the problem will go away.

I am on stock rom. It happened to me randomly.
I'm on ICS UVLE1 and it seems that I am suffering from a power off issue where the magenta T-Mobile box stays on and the phone never really shuts off. It says brightly lit and I have to force it to turn off by pressing the power button for 30 seconds. It just sucks. It happens whenever I want to reboot or power off my phone. It just never really shuts off or restarts.
I still can't seem to fix this problem and I'm just not enjoying my experience on ICS or maybe my Galaxy S2 is one of those bad apples. Sad to say, I guess my expectations were a little to high. :-/
I rooted and installed ICS mms gallery and calendar . I notice this issue you have l but it restart fine just lag on power off so I just hold power down no biggie

This issue has been addressed many times. Look for dark side cache wipe. Flash it. Then you should be good to go. It has to do with using cwm to flash roms. Don't use the wipe feature in it, flash either super wipe "everything" or cache wipe from TDJ.

This is a very well known issue. If you are unrooted, do a factory reset. If you are rooted, flash TDJs cache wipe.

Also, the Dark something super wipe works wonders. Wipe, reinstall ROM, and you're ready to go.
In the Q& A forum, I posted the instructions. In the development section, you can find the Super Wipe.

I was having this exact issue during shutdown and reboots. It went away after flashing TDJ's Darkside.Cache.Wipe.

Hi all!
A few days ago I rooted my stock T989(ICS) using the galaxys2root method and everything went well. The only issue I ran into though, when I turn off my phone normally (hold power then shutdown), it will get stuck at the pink goodbye screen (as did about 3 others in the comment section of the GS2Root website). When I was unrooted, turning off the device normally, it would hangup a bit at the pink goodbye screen as well, only for about 30 seconds at the most though. In this current state, I've ran this over 5 minutes and it still stays at the pink goodbye screen.
I didn't see this to be too much of an issue since I use notification toggle, which has a a restart and power off toggle that I can access in the notification bar for rooted users. But last night I didn't charge my phone so it was dead when I woke up. The thing is, it was hot. So I'm thinking it got hung up on the pink goodbye screen until the very last drop of battery left. So it just worry's me in the long run if it happens again here and there of affecting the battery. It showed 0% when I plugged in to charge and did take a while to go past that number.
Some background:
-Completely stock rom and kernels (know nothing about flashing/intimidating to do for me as I don't want to ruin anything)-slowly looking into it though
-Only rooted because I wanted to save some game data.
-I've already done factory reset but it didn't fix the issue.
Hopefully any input will help out others with the same problem as well!

Darkside Cache Wipe always fixes my issues. It's said not to use CWM fix permissions or cache wipes. Using the Darkside also aligns your card.

Thanks guys! So DarkSide it is then.
So in order to do this, it's essentially just like rooting, right?
This is how I'm thinking of it based on GS2Root's video:
-Boot into clockwork mod recovery
-Install zip from sd card
-Choose zip from sd card
-Find DarkSide Cache Wipe in where ever folder I put it in (which I finally found the download link and hoping this is the right one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1477955)
-Choose the zip and apply.
-Done?
Are these the right steps? Or is there anything special after and/or before that I need to do? Don't have to install the DarkSide rom beforehand?
Also, would I ever need to uninstall this for an update? I just read somewhere on my drippler app that t mobile or samsung will provide a future update for bug fixes, but not jelly bean.
That's correct steps then just reboot. It's a script that does what cwm should do plus more. It will wipe both cache partitions then properly fix permissions. It's not installing anything so it won't effect any future updates. Also doesn't matter what Rom your on, it's not specific. Just a fix for cwm not working correctly.

same thing happened to me and the darkside program works perfectly

darkside wipe deleted your rom and its data... thats what its designed to do.... do you cant go past the start screen because there is nothing to boot too... reflash your rom or get a different rom.

Did you run the superwipe as you are directed to do? it is a pretty simple process and it will not wipe your ROM.

Superwipe will in fact wipe your ROM. Cache wipe will not wipe your ROM, and will probably help with the reboot hangs.
Superwipe is for before you flash a ROM.
Cache wipe is for problems after an install.

To start, my GS3 was rooted, had a custom recovery, but was still on stock Rom. I followed QBKing77 video today on manually installing the JB rom. I put stock recovery back on, then applied the update. It flashed just fine. I was still rooted after the flash (wasnt sure if I was supposed to be still rooted). Anyway, phone worked for a good 4 hours, checked everything out and everything worked just fine. Suddenly, the phone is frozen now. It is not responding to touch and is vibrating as if it is having a problem. Cant even unlock it. If I slide my finger on it, this green box highlights things on my homescreen. Everytime I slide my finger on it, it toggles through some of the items on my homescreen (sprint, then the clock/weather widget, then each of the short cuts on the lock screen) then starts over again. Each time it vibrates as well. Cant unlock the phone and I am just stuck...HELP PLEASE???

I was going to try to unroot and odin back to stock ICS using the tar file... Thoughts? I figured regardless of what I am on, I can always go back to true stock by odin-ing back using the stock tar... right?
ya that works too
I figured it out now, for some reason, in settings, accessibility, "talk back" was on, this caused the entire phone to not respond act semi frozen... I somehow got into settings by trying all sorts of things (swiping, double tapping, pinch to zooming, etc), and was able to turn it off...now the phone is fine. I am not sure why talk back would completely change everything and freeze the entire phone up. But I would not select that feature and turn it on...the phone literally felt unusable. I was 5 min away from odin-ing back to stock tar before I found this issue...
I would say skip the bs and just Odin back to stock. If this doesn't fix it, it's beyond software.
