[Q] Boot Loop - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a HTC Desire.
My problem is that while booting, the phone won't go beyond the second splash and will get stuck and loop that second splash. I can get to HBOOT/FASTBOOT but I'm not able to mount my SD Card to flash a different ROM or restore my previous ROM.
When I boot with SD Card in, I get a Leedroid second splash and without SD Card I get a different one, but it gets stuck either way.
The problem arose when in ROM Manager whilst running the phone, I downloaded a ROM and flashed it from ROM Manager.
This is the information displayed in HBOOT.

Any suggestions?

I've been trying to find a fix all afternoon guys, I need a hand from someone experienced.

you have a usb/sdbrick this is caused by flashing stuff using rom manager on desire. its not been good for desire pvt4 40000 devices
i fixed this for someone else a few days ago on androidforums
here it is
http://androidforums.com/desire-sup...s-help-stuck-cant-mount-sd-card-recovery.html

I've tried countless times to send the command "fastboot oem enableqxdm 0" using the sdk over usb and it hasn't worked. I just tried again after turning it on and for whatever reason it's worked.
Now I just have to see if I can flash a rom..

Okay, everything seems to be fine now. Cheers Rastaman-FB.

if it wasnt working then either you were not booted into the right area or fastboot wasnt set up correctly

I think my USB cable might have been dodgy because if I ran the "fastboot devices" command it would show up some times and not others. heh.

Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

[Q] Htc Desire Stuck at Htc Screen!

I recently followed the unrevoked guide to root my phone and put on the clockworkmod custom recovery image. On the second step, Unrevoked said 'waiting for phone reboot' but the phone got stuck in the white HTC screen. I can boot into HBOOT but not recovery mode, the phone gets stuck in the white HTC screen everytime I try. Anyone know where i go from here to trouble shoot this/reset the device.
Happened to me too when i tried to root. Just root it again with unrevoked and it should be fixed.
I cant ... Unrevoked says 'Waiting for device. Plug phone in now and enble USB debugging. Make sure HTC sync is *not* installed ! ... (its plugged to the phone while the phone is stuck on the white HTC screen)
Bump! ..
Try flashing an official RUU ROM.
You can find a list of ROMs here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667
I've similar problem. I think I can not use unrevoked because it need to enable debugging mode but my system is stuck at htc logo screen so I can not do that.
I can go to bootloader and here is the information on it.

the problem started after volume down key and touch ball stopped working and some update was installed.
I can not go to recovery mode as it will just reboot for ever when I chose it from HBoot. I tried to root again but I get
Code:
FAILED (remote: 43 main version check fail)
at some point. The phone is unbranded

Unrooting HTC Desire Hboot 0.8 Help

I've read several guides and I've tried several different RUU's
RUU_Bravo_Froy2_UK_2.14.207.1_Radio_32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_144166_signed.exe

RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed.exe
All of them do the same thing, they connect to the phone start loading and when the phone is showing the hTC logo they say waiting for bootloader and then say an error occurred.
Some of the guides say leave the phone on the htc screen and reload the bootloader. The moment I exit the RUU installation the phone reboots to cyanogen mod. I've tried restarting etc.. leaving the phone in and just re-running. No luck, I cannot get the phone to stay on the hTC screen, it always restarts when I exit the program.
Any ideas as the phone needs repairing as the cpu crashes continuously!
Thanks

Which error code occured? CID error? If yes, create a goldcard:
http://android.modaco.com/content/software/308798/pc-application-goldcardtool/
After this, pu this in your desire and flash ruu again:
RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00. 32U_5.11.05.27_release (If you want stock froyo)
RUU_Brav2_UK_1.20.207.1_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06 .00.02_2_release_124865.exe (If you want eclair rom with o2 rom (i guess that was your branding).
I get Error code 171 error connecting via usb. This is when it's just loaded the new bootloader and is sitting on the new htc logo. I then click exit and it throws me back to cyanogen mod.
I have the original gold card in from when I did the root.
Try the RUU on baadnwz.eu/search/label/addons
I've just them before i rooted my phone with Unrevoked

Sounds for me you could have an usb brick. Here is a guide how fix it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=691639
When done, try to flash ruu like before again.
Okay,
I tried the usb brick fix. Made no difference. It was still throwing the 171 error.
I had a look around online and found you can grap the rom.zip file from the temp directory of windows while the RUU is running. I renamed this to PB99IMG.zip and dropped it on the root of the sd card (gold card) and then booted to hboot. This then started to install the new hboot 0.93 and O2 UK Froyo from the
RUU_Bravo_Froy2_UK_2.14.207.1_Radio_32.44.00.32 U_5.09.05.30_2_release_144166_signed.exe RUU.
Hope this helps if anyone else is stuck.

[Q] Stock Gingerbread Update results in Bootloop

Hi there!
Maybe this question was asked 100 times but I really searched and searched but dont found any solution for my problem.
I got a HTC Desire with stock froyo on it - no root - no CFW - just stock.
Phone sometimes doesnt boot. Just come to green HTC logo 1x vibrate and reboot. If this happens I pulled out the battery leave it alone for a hour pulled it back and it boots fine.
Because of this error I tried to fix it with latest dev update to gingerbread. Install went fine - succesful - reboot...
Since then im not able to acces the OS. It ALWAYS stucks at green HTC vibrate on time and reboot.
Damned. Tried to flash again via RUU - same ****. Tried to flash via SD - same ****.
I have acces to Hboot and fastboot but i think this doesnt help me anyway.
So please - if anyone has a solution how to fix my bootcycle problem - give me a hint.
---EDIT---
I dont know how but i have succesfully boot into GB. Immediatly I used revolutionary to get S-OFF. Done.
Now Phone looks like it boots normally. Strange thing if I enable WIFI and connect to some network it reboot and is not able to boot again. Always reboot at Welcome screen. Battery out - wait some time - battery in - booting - extremly fast disable wifi and it works normally.
SO... is my WIFI bricked? Is anything known about that matter. If yes - are there solutions???
Thanks
CRC
really - no one can help me
damned i think my desire has a heating problem. everytime i do something little bit intesiver work - like syncing, or inet surfing - my desire does a restart and could only be reachable after 20 min without plugged in battery.
strange
Throughout reading your problems, I immediately thought it was a hardware issue. Talk to HTC and see what they say.
Punched in..
oke i allready thought about something like that
just wanted it to confirm by someone else...
thank u

Hi all,
I have a rooted HTC Desire that is stuck in a bootloop. It gets to the HTC screen and that’s it. I tried to upgrade from a cyanogen MOD 7 to gingerbread 2.3 with the RUU I got from the HTC DEV site. Well actually the upgrade looked to be succesfull but when my phone rebooted I got this bootloop.
So now I tried to do a recovery but I only get the “apply update from sdcard” instead of “apply sdcard:update.zip”. When I try to do this update I get a “invalid operation” and the phone reboots. I also did a wipe of the cache and data.
When I try and connect with usb I can only see a driver being loaded after I switch to fastboot.
I tried “adb devices” but no device is seen. When I do the “fastboot devices” I get a serial.
I also tried the Revolutionary software to S-OFF but again I get the “waiting for device”. I tried with the HTC sync drivers, bootloader drivers with several laptops and pc’s.

I also tried with an other sdcard from a working Desire but I cannot get on the sdcard.
I tried to “mount” the sdcard again with 'fastboot oem enableqxdm 0' but no luck.
Please ask if more info is needed.

[Q]Completely unresponsive Desire

Hi everyone. My friends Desire seems to be completely dead. What we did:
- we s-offed desire with revolutionary
- we tried several ROMs with no problem
- the last ROM was the Sandvold ICS ROM
- in one day desire doesn't response - whatever you do it ends up in bootloader. Problem is, that we cannot use volume up and down to enter recovery or fastboot. We also wanted to reflash hboot by renaming it to PMG... with no success. It recognized the file in SD card and showed only - "PARSING" for more than half an hour. And nothing else. After taking battery out and power on again it shows only following:

It seems that the phone has broken navigation arrows (hardware) or something, because you cannot do nothing - if you want to power off the phone, you must take the battery out.
Do you have any idea what we can try? (I also made a golcard and I have working ADB - if necessary).
Many thanks for any reply.
It would seem the phone is hanging in bootloader which is not a very good sign. Some suggestions:-
- Let the phone cool down and try booting.
- Pull battery, start phone with back+power to go directly to fastboot. If it enters fastboot mode this way then there is hope.
- What hboot was in PB99IMG.zip? Was the md5 ok ? With hboot and radio there are no second chances. Did the problems occur after this procedure or before.

Thanks for quick answer. Unfortunately, phone didn't boot into fastboot after pressing BACK+POWER ... Yes, it was PB99IMG.zip. MD5 was for sure correct because I flashed this exact file several times before with success.
This problem occured before trying update hboot.
It looks like R.I.P. for Desire - isn't it?
The phone first boots the radio (modem processor) and thereafter the bootloader(hboot) (application pocessor). They both are the starting points. Without them booting successfully there is no easy access to the phone. Maybe somebody has got better suggestions.

To make a long story short, the Dinc is stuck at the Hboot screen. How it got there, not quite sure. Wasn't my phone and am trying to fix it for a friend.
I have a tested working SD card, and tested working USB cable. The phone, when power is pressed - boots to the white HTC screen, then goes blank/black. The phone can get to the bootloader by vol+&power, but when accessing recovery choice, again, white HTC screen then blank/black. I've tried flashing stock with pg32img.zip, but it hangs on recovery (30+ min).
I've tried connecting to PC, and the drivers are properly installed, HTC sync is removed and the device is seen by fastboot; but not adb. In fastboot, regardless of the command, I get an error. Again, any ideas and assistance are welcome.
Thank you,
