So, I rooted my device only a few days after getting it, and apparently there is an essential update for the Media Hub app. When I launch the app, it tries to redirect me to the market, but the market displays "No Results Found." I located the app on the desktop market it's named com.sdgtl.mediahub.tmo.vplus but it will not allow me to download it because it says none of my devices are compatible. The description of the app explicitly states that it is only for T-Mobile 4G devices and lists the Galaxy S II. I can only deduce that it does not recognize my device as compatible due to being rooted. I have searched the web but the only versions of Media Hub that I have found are those compatible with other carriers and devices. My device was rooted with Odin using the method detailed on this site, and I am not running a custom ROM. If someone knows of a way to get around downloading this from the market, another location I can download it from, or would be able to provide me with an option I haven't considered, it would be most appreciated.
Thanks

Does anybody know how to download apps that are restricted by the carrier ?
it seems some apps will only show up in the marketplace if you using a certain phone. for example, I am with Rogers in canada and need to download the Bell PVR app. when I browse the marketplace from my samsung focus, the app does not show up. If I use an HTC HD7 released by Bell, the app is there.
there must be a string somewhere in the software that identifies the phone so the app can be downloaded. I'm not sure why microsoft allows carriers to do this.
any help would be appreciated.
Hello... to do so you need to dev unlock your hd7...after that you should be able to install unpublished apps to your device.
You may be able to do this by editing the registry. I know you can download other OEM apps by doing this. There's a thread that describes how to do this. I believe the Carrier entry is in the same directory.
[HOW TO] Get any OEM's Apps direct from the Marketplace on your Phone
Code:
HKLM\System\Platform\DeviceTargetingInfo\OemName
HKLM\System\Platform\DeviceTargetingInfo\MobileOperator
Hello,
Apparently I am unable to reach any of HTC's download servers for HTC Sync 3.0.5617.
Does anyone have a link to where I can download this software as I would like to unlock my incredible through the official method
Thanks in advance.
I've been in the same boat for the last few days. I contacted HTC asking why the download link doesn't work and they said their web site is being upgraded and they can't give an ETA on when the software will be available for download (which leaves me completely stunned).
I found a couple of links to Russian versions which didn't fill me with confidence. I ended up downloading version 3.0.5551 from softonic at this page (I can't post external links as a new user so I hope this is legible) htc-sync dot en dot softonic dot com, and after I installing it offered to upgrade to the latest version, downloading version 3.0.5617.
You can install sync from the cdrom drive that pops up when you connect your phone to your pc as a disk drive. Then update to the newest version thru the sync app it self. Although now that i think about it the CDROM.iso file has probably been removed or dissabled in a lot of custom roms, so i may just be typing for nothing.
This morning after a file update my Kaspersky AVG reported and deleted 7 files as containing...
backdoor.androidos.ginmaster.a
...one of which was system/app/settings.apk - I restored this file and data from a Ti backup (full scan in progress at time of writing)
others were zip files from my external SD card including
Lite ROM 0.9
and a few blob files from my CWMR backup directory.
As I haven't installed anything since the previous clean scan except from google app store and have not browsed any 'risky' sites I was wondering if anyone else had had similar reports that they consider to be 'false positives'.
New scan identified the restored file and deleted it again. !
Do I need this file ?
Where can I get a clean copy ?
I would welcome advice as to....are any other steps I should take such as changing account passwords etc.
Happened to me too!
Actually I had the same warning few days back, as Kaspersky warned me of the same virus that the game I play a lot Pocket Frogs has it, I had this game for a very long time now and I wondered what it could be the cause, deleted and reinstalled several times the same problem, until I gave skip. I wrote to mobage (game dev.) and even posted on google playstore, but it seems and I hope, it does not harm the device, not sure, did not receive any explanation from anywhere so far as what causes it or if it is true!
Only I have one cocern as the mobage sign that appears in the game windows lower left corner, is ever presently very faintly on my phone everywhre, meaning the homescreen or any programs we open as such?
Really confused.

Challenge / Background:
I recently rooted my Sprint HTC 10 to Viper v10 3.5.0 with SuperUser v2.74-2. This was my second root and I had a couple hiccups along the way that required me to re-flash during the process to make sure I did it right....ended up being something different. Everything works though as expected with the exception that I noticed tonight that my Windows 7 laptop does not recognize my phone. After multiple tries trying to update drivers on my laptop (can see it in device manager, but error) and that type of thing, I gave up and tried to work the problem from my phone. But, the only solution I could find online was regarding ensuring that the USB tethering option was on. Additionally, when booted to TWRP v3.0.2-6 I also was unable to mount my phone as a USB storage device.
Temporary work around:
I will still be looking for a permanent solution, and if anyone has ideas please let me know, but if others have this problem, an option that worked for me was utilizing "USB Tethering" in lieu of "(USB) File Transfers". In order to do this, I downloaded the below app from Google Play and followed the instructions. Its a little slow moving from folder to folder, but works as a temporary solution for the moment, or until I try to reflash again in case I mistakenly selected the wrong option in Viper.
I utilized the MTP-Alternative USB Drive application by ClearEvo located in the store for free.
Hope this helps.
Hello all,
I'm trying to install the Aurora Store directly from https://auroraoss.com to my Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 (SM-T311) but I'm having some trouble with it.
Once the apk is downloaded I am unable to install it - I get the error message "Can't open file" - please see screenshots 1 and 2.
That's using the Android stock browser, but I tried with Firefox too and it gave the same error.
However, I am able to download the same version of Aurora store from an apk site like Apk Mirror and this will install ok - please see screenshot 3.
I am able to install an alternative equivalent App store e.g. Apptoide directly from their website without problem - see screenshot 4.
Finally, as shown in screenshot 5, the file downloaded from Auroraoss.com shows in File Manager as an unknown file type, but the same apk from an alternative source is recognised as an installable apk for Android, as shown by the icons displayed.
It seems to me that the file downloaded from Auroraoss.com is not triggering the Packet Installer (or being recognised by it), on this device for some reason.
I have already enabled/allowed installation of apps from unknown sources. But maybe I am missing something else, another setting??
Also FYI, my tablet is running Android Nougat 7.1.2 (Lineage OSS 14.1).
I tried running some other custom roms but got the same result.
Just to be clear: of course I know can install Aurora Store from alternate sources as I explained above, but I would much prefer and feel safer to download it direct from original source at Auroraoss.com. Apart from that it's just annoying and a little bit worrying that it mysteriously does not work for some strange weird reason.
Any ideas why this might be happening or what I can do to fix it?
Would appreciate any advice!
Cheers
Dave
