N7100 almost here, and I see that the native dialer has a video dialer function that allows you to make video calls over your cellular network. I am in the US on AT&T, and was wondering if anyone with International Samsung phones have attempted to make a video call over AT&T using the native dialer, or if AT&T still blocks this global function?
This would be between 2 N7100's in the US over AT&T or a N7100 and an International SGIII. I am not talking about the AT&T flavor, only International Unlocked Sammy's.
I have searched but there is little info on this, and the ones who say it work never tell what country they are in or the carrier they are using it on.
Re: [Q] Does the video calling feature in the native dialer work in the US over AT&T
Video calling on native dialer definitely works in India in almost all the networks. I am using a national service provider called bsnl and it's dirt cheap. They charge me around 4 cents per minute. However video calling doesn't work all the time even if I'm on 3g network if the 2nd party doesn't get 3g signal properly.

NOTE: For Rogers customers ONLY!!!
Hi guys,
I just wanted to let you guys know you can make and receive phone calls and text messages on your Note 8 GT-N5110 without buying the LTE version of the tablet if you are a Rogers Wireless Customer!
I discovered this option today, it works great and Best of all it's FREE to register for Rogers wireless customers.
The incoming calls and texts show up your tablet at the same time and you get to choose on
which device you wish to answer.
Bonus:
It allows you to make unlimited Canadian long distance calling from your tablet and it doesn't use up your
day time minutes.
Free text messaging too.
This is a great solution if you want to save some money instead of buying the LTE version and having to
activate a new Data plan line. Besides, holding a huge 8" tablet to your head or even using it as your daily phone
would be awkward.
Enjoy and let me know of this was a good option for you!
What you need:
1. Be a Rogers Wireless customer
2. Download the Rogers One Number (app from Google Play Store).
3. Access to an internet connection
Rogers One Number™ lets you use your Rogers wireless number for unlimited talk, sent texts and video calling Canada-wide from your Android Tablet, as long as you have access to the internet.
Enjoy unlimited Canadian long distance calling from your Android tablet.
Get the FREE Rogers One Number app for your iPad or Android tablet and take your conversations with you while you are on the go.

Sounds a lot like Google Voice+GrooVe IP. By the way the AT&T Note 8 LTE is not a voice phone it's data only.
Why am I not able to surf when I talk? Advanced calling us enabled, it's set for hd voice and video. But when I'm on a call, it days data not available?
It was never a problem on my old note 5. Am I missing a setting somewhere?
Has anyone been able to use HD calling & native phone dialer video calling? I have both features turned on through the verizon website/app & also on settings/networks & also on the phone dialer settings but I don't see it when I make calls.

I've had the hd voice calling activate on its own when I call a friend with an S6 on Verizon. There were no prompts but my dialer showed "HD" during the call and the audio was much improved.

I think the "much improved" is very subjective. The person on the other end sounds unnatural to me... Maybe its the years of ****ty audio quality that Verizon has forced on me.... But I'm not a fan. Besides it is fairly worthless as the other party has to be a compatible verizon phone. Most of my calls, other than my wife, are on other networks or land lines, where the HD does not come into play...

HD calling works for me (Shows the HD icon when Codec is AMR-WB). However video calling does not. If I force Video calling provisioning. It turns off after reboot. Works on my buddies Pixel XL however...
I'm on Verizon also and HD calling works for me. I haven't tried video calling but it shows up for some contacts.

I'm in the same boat. All settings and provisioning activated, but don't see the "HD" icon on calls, or anything related to video calling.
Let me know if you figure anything out.

Both work for me. Video calling icon comes up when on call and hd voice icon as well.
I haven't been able to test HD Voice, but I'm finally seeing options for video calls in the dialer.
*I think* this is what fixed it:
-Dial *#*#4636#*#*
-Select Phone Info
-Make sure provision boxes are checked for VOLTE, Video and Wi-Fi Calling
-Reboot, just to be safe
-Go to Wireless & networks settings and select Network settings reset
-Turn off Advanced Calling and turn it back on
-Reboot

When people with Verizon call me, I get HD Voice but when I call them, it's standard quality. Wtf Verizon/Google...

Video calling and HD work for me. I have the Google version, not the Verizon one. It's nice to be able to switch during a call but the quality is often bad even with a good connection. Google Duo seems to work better and works with iPhones and all Android phones.

Dangit!
I thought I was all good, but I have the same thing. Incoming calls are HD, outgoing are not. Or if they are, there's no icon indicating it.
Still can't get Wi-Fi calling to activate, also.

I'm on Google's support chat right now regarding the HD voice with outgoing calls issue on Verizon. I'll post what I find.
Edit: they kept trying to tell me it was Verizon's fault. They said I either didn't have HD voice enabled on my account or I had a service issue both of which are wrong. I've triple checked my account and it wouldn't work when someone called me if it weren't enabled. Also, it doesn't matter where I am, the issue always behaves the same. Outbound calls give no HD voice but inbound do.

HD outgoing and video works for me. Gs pixel on 7.1.1 but it worked on 7.1 too. Works on both wifi and LTE. Wifi calling is switchable also.
I'd say get a new sim card. Sometimes vzw tech can reprovision the card properly. Sometimes it's easier to just get a new one. I've had weird stuff happen where only one side of the conversation can hear the other and only a new card would fix it.

Thanks. Good to know there are some Pixels on Verizon out there without issues.
I'll try the new sim. Mine is at least three years old--maybe four!

Can anyone explain why when I try to Facebook call, video, etc data drops instantly? It happens every time. I have unlocked Google PIXEL xl.
I have the international unlocked Note 10+. I need the features that ATT offer, like WIFI Calling, Visual Voicemail and Mobile Hotspot. I flashed the Note to ATT firmware and have all the features but the only feature that worked was the Mobile Hotspot. WiFi calling does not work, as well as visual voicemail.
Someone recommended that I use an old iphone IMEI and "trick" the system, which I did. Now WIFI calling WORKS, AS WELL AS VISUAL VOICEMAIL. But now the Mobile Hotspot doesnt work.
When I call ATT they tell me that i have to have the IMEI for the android phone on my account to get Mobile Hotspot working. When they change it, Mobile Hotspot starts working, but then WIFI calling and Visual Voicemail stops working..
this is driving me crazy. Any ideas?
As far as I know, and from my past with unlocked phones, the carrier native tools don't usually work or work inconsistently. I didn't even have VZW visual voicemail with my unlocked Note 9. I used the Samsung version. Wifi calling never worked, nor did HD video calling. As a matter of fact, I couldn't get my Galaxy Watch LTE to work at all until I switched to a Note 10+ from VZW. Then everything worked - VOLTE, wifi calling, HD voice and video, etc. On the unlocked phone I made a dozen calls to support and they could never get it to work correctly. And it sucks, because I love unlocked phones, as I like the Samsung toolset better than the VZW garbage.
