hello
ive got a little question, it's not a problem but it disturbs me a little bit.. ive tweaked my xperia arc to the max.. doomkernel, supercharger v6 etc. but when scrolling down or up in settings theres not shadow animation, like the names like Security & Locations bluring a little bit like on the arc S of my friend.. anyone has those animations on the arc? because it seems to lag without them..
thanks =) !!
You mean overscroll?
I have them on my Arc.
Sent from my iPad 2 using Tapatalk
no no thats when it touches the edge and glows up i have that yes but on the arc S there is an animation that creates a shadow on the icons while scrolling down the list, with red design the icons turn red in settings and with blue into blue etc.. this looks very cool.. and my settings just lag.. :S
I don't have that kind of animation on my Arc.
But the settings don't lag.

doesn't it stutter a lil bit? especially when you've only got ~100 mb of free ram?
Well, I think it's smooth and I have ~60MB RAM free
Use a task killer or something like System Info Widget to get the free RAM.
Under settings cached apps aren't counted in and you have more free, but you have much less in real.
Sent from my iPad 2 using Tapatalk
okay lol but then it seems to run out of memory very fast doesnt it?
It "just" has 512MB, 60MB free RAM are normal for these kind of phones.
Sent from my iPad 2 using Tapatalk
okay with widgetsoid it shows 67mb to me is that okay then?
Yeah, that's normal

I've always about 130-170 MB free RAM. But I'm using a auto kill task manager.

Hello everyone,
While using my arc s, my free RAM memory is often displayed as 70/80 MBs. (which is shown by using equipment's default information - if i use airdroid app it shows a lower value).
Is there a way to maximize free RAM or, in other words, minimize RAM usage?

Thanks pal,
However, It gets lower than that! Besides, are these values really reliable? Why do I get like 50% less while using AirDroid App? (Device - Ram Usage)
Thank you!

If your phone works fine...no lags. Then don't matter how much you had free ram....right. Android itself manages all like he need.

Yes I understand it, however, if I use an application for quite long time, I get white icons (for 2 or 3 seconds) when I get back to the default screen.

I can recommend you "ram manager pro"

i think u shouldnt worry about that, all the other ram space is used to cache your application for fast opening, doesnt effect your performance if im correct..try task killer if u really want to free it..
In Android, you should only worry about free RAM when some tall dark stranger approaches you and says: "I'll give you a thousand bucks for each MB of free RAM on your phone".
Other than that, free RAM is wasted RAM, under normal circumstances.

Hey guys, is it possible to create an exception list for the ICS Task Manager. My problem is that whenever I "clear memory" it will close my Widget Locker and I have to go in and restart it. As much as I clear memory in a day thats alot of restarting. Any help would be appreciated.
Also, I don't need recommendations for other task managers, I would like to keep it native.
You shouldn't be frequently clearing memory as is. Android isn't like a Windows Mobile phone. You're supposed to use the task manager in the event of a misbehaving app and thats pretty much it.
So it isn't necessarily a bad thing if the memory bar is full?

No its not. Those apps are just being stored in cache. They aren't actively using battery (unless its a poorly programmed app). Android should automatically remove the ones that are idle on its own, though. Just let Android do its thing.
If you're really worried about runaway apps, use this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sMSwxLDEwOSwiY29tLnpvbXV0LndhdGNoZG9nbGl0ZSJd
Its a different kind of task manager. All it does is monitor what apps are using the most CPU. ONLY kill the stuff it alerts you that are using crazy high CPU processing.
I need a good task killer, my phone is freezing and locking up.... other people i know use them and say they work great, i know some dont like them but i dont like pulling my battery several times a day!
I use active apps.

Its just not especially Ram Level 2.
Just hit clear memory on the Ram Tab. And kill any unnecessary apps on the active apps tab

I wish I could like the same post multiple times. So many people ask me how my Epic runs so smooth even after days of uptime and constant use. I answer "with good settings, choosing good apps, and otherwise letting Android do what it's built to do and not changing things assuming I know better".
Sent from my SPH-D700 CM9 4.0.4
so r u saying keep letting it run like poo? because what it is doing is pissing off right now
Try Memory Booster lite or the built in task killer. Just don't keep killing system apps that are going to reload anyway because that will drain your battery. Android on the miniscule amount of memory the Epic has, does not always handle memory correctly and some apps are poorly written and do not release memory and resources.

If it makes you feeel any better, mine is always between 300 and 315, even from boot it is at least 250 and soon ramps up as all my apps are loaded
Oh thanks for the info man. I guess its just normal then . But are you feeling a little lag in that condition of ram?

What ROM are you using? Maybe you can try another ROM, or maybe you can try to disable some apps's background processes, it may help a little bit
i usually use go powermaster to know what app are runnig in background, i sometimes i uninstall, usually maps, facebook, email, that kind of stuffs are always runing and wasting ram
you can try to install v6supercharge and use the script to clear ram, time by time...
I'm using indroid remics when I feel the lag, now I'm using biohazard it's smoother though
I already installed v6 supercharger on the indroid but no result still laggy

lags are just normal, since its android. its a bit complicated but here http://www.appleinsider.com/article...ag_occurs_more_often_in_android_than_ios.html
with v6 supercharger you have less ram I guess, because it holds launcher always in ram, so restarts are disabled, and it makes multitasking better. I dont know what exactly is meant by "better multitasking" but I guess it keeps apps longer in ram, so they dont need to re load. but i'm not sure about it.
maybe you can try a lighter launcher like launcherpro (it needs 9-15mb ram).

Yes sometimes, it really annoys the pants off me when i'm in a hurry but I came to SGW from a Nokia N95 8Gb which was stuffed to the point of bursting (not literally) with software - so the lag on my droid is still far less than I had got used to.
From a fresh flash of a new ROM it amazes me how 225 - 250mb is all thats needed, but all the apps I install are pretty much essential to me in one way or another (otherwise i'd have a dumb phone instead ) so I just put up with it, and save toward a new droid with RAM measured in Gig not Meg :fingers-crossed:
My phone usually use up to 210mb of ram and that's all, sometimes 180mb

I'm at 1.15 right now, but you got to realize that in Android unused RAM is really just a waste. With these modern phones it will keep apps in RAM to speed up launch times, response time, etc. As long as your RAM isn't so full it lags to launch new apps you're good. Android will clear space when it's needed.
