Grn1 vs Gen2 - Acer Iconia Tab A100

I've seen several comments about gen1 being faster or more responsive after updates. Gen2 having improved quality after downgrading roms.
I really haven't figured out what the difference really is between gen1 and gen2. Is it hardware or is it just the rom makes the difference?

I have wondered this as well. Especially since I just did the manual update and it changed me from Gen2 to Gen1. Grateful for any help in this

gen2 gets updates first than gen1 (so far i think gen1 doesn't even get them), my a100 updated just after i changed from gen2 to gen 1

Its actually the opposite because Gen 1 gets updates faster which is why Gen1 runs on 3.2.1 vs Gen 2 3.2 only. The latest Gen1 has the headphone fix too which Gen 2 rom doesn't. I updated to Gen1 from Gen 2 and man my tab is smoother and the browser never hangs up any more

helikido; I have gen2 and its 3.2.1 I don't have any browser problems or headphone problems... but been wondering if I should "upgrade" to GEN1

i updated my tab from Gen2 to gen1 and its a lot faster, no problems whatsoever

From what I can tell the only difference is updates go to Gen1 devices first. Gen1 beinggb faster isn't true. The reason gen1 is faster is because it is now 3.2.1 compared to most gen2 still on 3.2. The update is faster, not the gen. I think if you have a gen2 tab that's on 3.2.1, the only upside of going to gen1 will be to get the next updates sooner. Performance should be the same.

2.007.04, it should get to your a100 by-air (WiFi) if you already have gen1

Don't fall for the "Gen 2" name of the build it means nothing. Now if u do some research on the forum u will find out that Gen 1 receives updates faster than Gen 2. I've been on Gen 2 forever and never got on update..... vice versa for Gen 1

Be warned though, some that switched to 2.007.01 Gen1 are NOT receiving the update to 2.007.04

maybe switching from an earlier version could work

I switched from 1.xxx.xx gen2 to 1.xxx.xx gen1 (don't remember the numbers). I went back to the first gen1 so I could ota to 3.2.1 instead of flash the available 3.2.1, I heard ttyhe actual ota runs a bit smoother than the manual flash.

Thank you. Nice to be on the latest and greatest. And Gen one

Has anyone on any of the latest updated roms tried to plug a usb device in to see it is recognized? thanks

P1000XXJI2 is online at samfirmware

From last firmware of P1000 i have extract all component for "Ready Hub" and it work very well on galaxy s.
From the P1000 firmware we can take important information and precompiled software for playng 1080p video and for hdmi output.
If the galaxy s is able to output to hdmi we just have a "Portable Google Tv"
Freakin nice.

i guess not out of the box but his point was just to use (port) some of the new software/apps/framework ...
Would be helpful to share the apks...
But I'll have a shot at extracting them myself
EDIT: First task, navigating their site to find it T_T
EDIT2: Found it and downloading, but will I be able to extract the firmware -_^
EDIT3: Extracting (well actually converting..) using the ruby script. But it's taking like forever.... been 2hrs already and its still going lol. I guess cause the factoryfs.rfs is ~300 megs!!!
I hope that Tab`s firmwares will help devs to make 435mb RAM visible for OS in Froyo.
It's strange, but JIT is disabled in this firmware... Just like in all previous ones (JH8, JHA, etc.).
This is so cool, awesome work dudes, lets have those APK's
No JIT yet? So strange.
I'm dying to try this FW on my Galaxy... just have to learn how to cook it up!
---
I got it.
I can see all the APK's and so. I'll try installing later... should I worry about the .odx file? (OK, I don't really remember the extension...)
Anyway, gonna backup everything.. just in case.
---
A simple install of Reader Hub didn't work. :/
open factoryfs.rfs
for open factoryfs.rfs in linux you can probe with this command:
mount -o loop factoryfs.rfs /some_dir
"Ready Hub work very well in galaxy s"
I hope for hdmi output and 1080p video playback on galaxy s.
memoria aumentata lag fix e altro le svilupperà samsung, ma queste due potenzialità che il nostro processore già supporta samsung ce le regalerà solo con i prossimi telefoni "a pagamento" se non le estraiamo noi dal galaxy tab

OH!! good find! Seems SC-02B is the Japanese Galaxy S!?
http://memn0ck.com/blog/2010/08/nttdocomosamsunggalaxyssc02bwifi.html
It has flash too!!! (from the picture).
If anyone wants to request it...
http://www.modaco.com/content/i8000...41/samsung-mobile-firmware-queries-downloads/
Although I wouldn't be surprised if it spread soon via samfirmware etc...
(I might be jumping to conclusions here guys, zulu99 has got me excited ^_^)
EDIT: Although I found some specs which list 2.1 for SC-02B. Might be old though.
Docomo SC-02B roms have been Froyo since JH6 buid.
The newest build is JI2.
They get more updates than we do for I9000
Thats really weird... I know japan is close to korea but even samsung korea hasn't released any froyo firmwares yet (right?).
Japan gets more updates than the rest of the world (international i9000), thats crazy.
Richthofen: do you know if the roms are compatible though?

Means:
Increased memory, lag fix and other things will be developed by Samsung. But these two features, already supported by our processor, will be gifted to us by Samsung only on new devices that they are going to market next, unless we will extract them from Galaxy TAB by ourselves.
More or less.
The prospect of a Japanese Galaxy S (or at least, the firmware from one) excites me. With Galaxy on Docomo, and Desire on Softbank, perhaps we'll finally see Android-native input methods for Japanese that can be ported to other devices. Plus more developers from that area.

Samsung will work on memory and lag fix, but 1080p and HDMI only for new devices??
:/
A good thing Galaxy Tab is so close to Galaxy S.

As for SC-02B of Japan, the specifications are more different than international versions.
For docomo's FOMA plus area(UMTS800) frequency
The setting menu changes clause several for docomo.
There is no FM radio.
There is no MobileAP.
The application program of the career adds it. Game and digital book, etc.
The shutter tone of the camera cannot be erased.
etc...

Should I let it update to 5.1.1?

I just picked up a great used 10.1 2014 and it d/led the 5.1.1 update, but I stopped it from installing. I have been thru this with my rooted Droid and wanted to ask, will I be ok to install, or should I do something else?
Is Lollipop better, and can it be rooted if I choose to later?
Thanks,
Dennis
Samsung never provided a Lollipop update for the Tab Pro 10.1, so I am not sure how your tablet downloaded a 5.1.1 update.

From his description I see he has a Note 10.1 2014, which indeed received 5.1.1. He's in the wrong forum for this, though.

Someone have the contact from oficial center of samsung? I want to write an email to show that I am not happy with their "assistance" .. For sure this is my last device from Samsung. Thank you in advance

Oh, forgot to mention its a 10.1 2014 Note.
I have received it, but not installed. Just wanted to make sure its worth it first.
Not sure about lag on my stock 10.1 2014 as I have been a Asus TF700 user for years and its a POS compared to this Samsung.
EDIT: Sorry, I guess I am sposed to be here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-10-1

Moto 360 6.0 Update.

hi, i saw on youtube Moto 360 1st Gen getting 6.0 update. i have tried everything but mine is still 5.1.1 if anyone have any idea how to update it to 6.0 please show me how to. i am using Note 4 5.1.1 and Android Wear version 1.1.1.1956917
I believe it is a roll out and I heard some people were having some problems with it so they stopped it to fish for bugs. It has since restarted but it is still a roll out so it may take a bit.
