Baseband Version = I8150DXKL1
I want to use the following ROM :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1438452
Is it compatible guys? Please help me!
P/S : I have just rooted my Galaxy Wonder and then update from 2.3.5 to 2.3.6 using OTA. To use the above ROM, do i need to do anything else like flash recovery or backup anything?

You need flash a recovery like this.

You need to be rooted and have a recovery method installed , RZ or CWM.
Those are the only pre-requisites to installing a custom ROM.

Meaning, i just follow the instructions and i'm done?
Do i need to do a factory reset or backup or something? Hmmm.
One more thing, given my baseband version above, it is compatible right? Because i'm afraid i might brick my phone or alike.

P/S : I rooted my phone with Superoneclick, and if i ever want to unroot back my device, how will that be done?

[Q] How ROOT and change bootloader on a 2.3.6 Rom?

Hi,
Due a problem updating the bootloader, the phone had a soft brick.
The only ROM I was able to flash after that was a 2.3.6 Vodafone 4.5.1-134_DFP-139.
As I understand this ROM wasn't downgradeable and now I have a standard bootloader.
Can I install a new bootloader? How? Can I root this ROM? I wish to install a CM ROM.
Thanks in advance, and sorry for my bad english.

Yes,you can.But it's not necessary. You also can root the rom,and you must need the right tools.
Hi, what are these "right tools"?
Give me a link please
Help please
I have made an FAQ thread about it. To root use SuperOneClick. Rest of the info is here. In case of any doubts feel free to ask me.
The problem is that you can't root with SuperOneClick 2.1, the new one of SuperOneClick v2.3.3 seem work but now the problem is with Superuser....
I can't install 2ndinit
Ok, a cuple of reboots after SU worked now I have 2ndinit instaled.
Wich rom to install Over a non downgradeable 2.3.6 Rom?
CM7??
CM9??

Need some help before Rooting

Hi All,
I am new to this forum and I need some help before I root my phone.
Below is my phone details :
Android Version : 2.3.6
Baseband version : I8150XXKL3
Kernel Version : 2.6.35.7-perf-I8150XXLA2-CL869026 [email protected] #3
Build Number : GINGERBREAD.XXLA2
My questions are below :
1) Where can I get the above ROM ? In case if I want to unroot and revert back to my original rom.
2) if the best way to root is the 'recovery method' then any one explain that How it do rooting techically? Can I root through 'oem unlock' command?
3) can i execute the fastboot command on this phone ?
Thanks in Advance.
1) Get the stock ROM here. Yours would be the number 7. Since you seem to still have the original firmware, the kernel should be the same. Also, if you ever unroot your phone, flash the stock ROM first and only then unroot it. Since you won't be able to flash the stock ROM if you unroot it first.
2) I'm sorry but I don't understand your question. Try to phrase it better, please. Anyway, I assume you probably already read this, but here's what I find to be the best and simplest tutorial for rooting here: link
3) Yes, you can - but only if rooted. adb commands, on the other hand, will be usable even if the phone isn't rooted. (Thus you can root via adb too.)

First of all , much thanks for giving answers. here are some explanition/details/questions point wise.
1) i found the rom on the given links, you pointed out Rom No 7 but what about Rom no 13 : 13. I8150XXLA2_OXXKL4_XEU (2.3.6) : it seems to be closer than my current Rom.
2) Rooting is achieved by some hack or exploit left by manufactures, examples are HTC (revolutionary and unrevoked). I checked the 'root by recovery' files but didn't found any thing special except the Superuser and BusyBox apks. So where is the actual rooting thing that roots the I8150 ?
3) if i can execute fastboot commands on rooted phone then it will be fine for me as in the past i have been using fastboot command .
Thanks
Doomlords method?
Why dont you try "Rooting with the auto-method(DoomLord v.3) (for Windowsuser)" rooting method, it worked for me fine on "I8150XXLA2", i was really surprised because on SGS2 it wouldn't root my phone on GB 2.3.6

I think it depends whether you update via Kies or OverTheAir. Maybe even which LA2 firmware is used, but via recovery it should work anyway, regardless which firmware is being used (for now)
Sent from my GT-I8150 using XDA App

[Q] No root after last update (SuperSU binary not installed)

Hi there!,
I installed Cyanogen ROM, I tried it for a few days and I liked, but I loose a lot of sound quality using bluettoth audio.
I think the Aptx bluetooth codec, insatalled in stock rom really works.
I have all my music in my phone so I decided to come back to stock and get the aptx quality sound.
I tried to install xposed today but I get a message telling me that I have no root access.
My SuperSU tells me that binary SU is not installed.
Does the last ofifical update change this binary???
How can I restore it?.
Many thanks in advance.
How did u come back to stock??
Did u restore nandroid backup or did u flash a stock firmware through odin ??
Either way you need to give details of the baseband version of stock firmware you are using.

With newer kikat firmwares there is a problem in rooting process. Search in general section. You will find a thread with procedure to root newer firmwares. Also make sure you flash latest cwm 6.0.5.1 and latest supersu (2.45).

M8 rooted - flashing roms?!

Hello all! I badly need some help! Other forums have been unsuccessful. I currently have a rooted S-off M8 (Uk version) When i rooted my phone i used TWRP and did not create a stock recovery.
After delaying the OTA update due to being rooted id now like to upate my phone as im still running 4.4.4.
If it helps i have the TWRP manager app installed with the latest recovery 2.8.7.0 on. Im getting confused between RUU and flashing custom recovery. All id like to do is to update my phone to the new 5.0 lollypop. I dont mind how to do it or what i need to do just need someone to explain it in simple terms. I do apologize, i am a noob when it comes to this!
Any help would be much apperciated!

Stock recovery won't help on a rooted ROM. You need a clean ROM either a clean backup or RUU.
Post your fastboot getvar all result (minus serial & imei no.), someone may be able to help you

The 2 are not at all related.
Custom recovery (such as TWRP) is user created, and installed to the recovery partition of the phone, and allows you to make backups of the current ROM and data partition; and to flash custom ROMs and other flashable zips.
RUU = ROM Update Utility. Its an "official" HTC executable run from the PC that will return your phone to stock image, including stock ROM, recovery, firmware, and all other partitions. There are also RUUs that can be run from the phone. But that's mostly the exception.

Fire TV 2 Sloan Stock Rom (unroot)

Hello,
I got 2 Sloans from ebay that I had to do this procedure on https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/unbrick-root-twrp-fire-tv-2-sloane.3986303/ in order to get them up and running and they are, they are now running latest rooted rom from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/firetv-2-sloane-prerooted-stock-images-5-2-7-6_r1.3309783/ .
Which is great ! thank you XDA once again !
But I want to unroot and run latest stock rom which seems to be 5.2.8.0 (671761720). I tried all procedures to force it to update OTA, but it refuses and always says up to date.
Also reason for unrooting is some apps like peacock just refuse to work...
From what I understand I can just flash the stock unrooted rom via TWRP, but for the life of me I can not find the stock roms, or even a rooted latest ROM.
Any help is really appreciated ! TIA

Hi,
I would recommend you to use this procedure now that you have TWRP: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/unlock-root-twrp-unbrick-firetv-2-sloane.4222331/
After that, flash any of this ROMs through the NEW recovery: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/unlock-root-twrp-unbrick-firetv-2-sloane.4222331/#post-84353191
Regards.

Really appreciate the reply. I tried the first link, and that didnt help, but I see the links to the original firmware so i might just try to install it via recovery.
I was able to unroot by flushing one of those roms and recovery is gone now as well. But it still does not go to the latest firmware... weird.
