So I dropped my epic at work today and everything works, but now my display is tinted green. I'm on legendary. I know it's probably hardware issue and needs to be returned. Haven't reflashed or anything yet. Any advice?

Odin phone back to ec05 stock , pull ur sd card out and take phone to sprint to check out. Do not show them ur sd card (because it will have clockworkmod). Don't even tell them ur phone was rooted. Just show them the problem and that's it. As long as u have total equipment protection, u should be fine.

Sounds like you knocked the ribbon cable to the LCD loose if you have TEP let Sprint fix that for you.
Clockworkmod isn't on the SD card... it has its own partition on the onenand. I'm sure they wont care if you are rooted but just in case follow the restore the epic from the brink guide in the development section.

The store near me acts like they've been covered in acid. The tech won't go near them. I asked him why and he said that his training never covered the differences between rooted and non-rooted phones so he doesn't want to brick them and end up owing the store the money for a new phone to give to the customer. These are the same people who think it's alright and normal for my mother's phone to drop every other call. YMMV with Sprint stores, there are really good ones and really bad ones. Remember that if they treat you poorly there is no requirement for you ever to give them your business again.
Hey guys, I just want to thank everyone for all the advice! I Odin'd back to stock ec05 went to stock EI22 and brought it back to the sprint store. I was convinced it was a loose ribbon and that I dropped it, obviously, and told the rep. He responded we won't tell [the tech] them that. They said they needed it for 1 hour and a half.
I was hoping they would fix the phone and tell me what the problem was. They just replaced it with a new one (maybe refurbished :\ ). So I didn't get to find out the problem.
Judging by the way they handled it they probably weren't concerned if it was rooted

Exactly, it's a hardware screen issue rooting won't cause that. And that's why they wouldn't care.

My wife recently dropped her phone and has to send it in to get replaced, so now we need to unroot it. I went through all the steps of unrooting to get s-on which it now is. The only problem was when I tried to reinstall the PC36IMG.zip file it says the version is to old and cannot install. I was wondering if anyone has the link to the NON ROOTED OTA PC36IMG.zip. Or I am wondering if she downloads and flashes the update.zip file if it would it delete the superuser app??
Please help
From what I've seen on here, when it comes to physical damage to your phone, Sprint no longer cares if you're rooted, only if you brick the phone will they not honor the warranty.

I would go to a different Sprint store, your phone being rooted has nothing to do with your USB port being crappy, same thing happened to my USB port, I took my phone in, explained my phone wouldn't charge (by then my battery was drained) they went to the back and brought me out a replacement. The USB is a known issue with the evo they should have replaced your phone

Yeah the fat b**** in the back of the store that repairs the phones wouldn't even touch my phone when she heard it was rooted... and when I did unroot she gave a time of 2 hours just to clear storage on the phone even though I said I already did that. On top of that they said a replacement would be available over night... two days ago. Now I'm stuck waiting

Is there a way to unroot the phone?
no there is not....thats why i dont root till there is an unroot method
lol, nope. i looked and looked everywhere. could not find it anywhere on the net. my device was stuck in bootloop. after waiting for a while for stock rom to come out, and not seeing any advancement. i decided to purposely brick the device and go exchange it, worked like a charm.
u can wait 2 c if a stock rom comes out within ur 14 day period.

Although I was thinking the same thing, that's a big gamble to take. Since some people is reporting that Sprint doesn't care if the phone is rooted or not, I'm gonna just go to the sprint store to see if i can just exchange mine even though it's rooted.

yup...they did...lol. They told me I had to return it to stock. Then went on to tell me that they're sure the issues I'm having in regards to losing data etc...is because sprint is updating their towers where I live...I thought this was bs.
But anyway, I left the store, turned on 4g to see if that service was available in my area yet...and boom...it connected.
So maybe he was telling the truth, because just a month ago there was no 4g at all here where I live.
But nevertheless, the stock tar/kernel should be posted today or within the next few days. Apparently bubby..is just about to release it
OK, so i dropped my phone and the screen cracked and im getting a replacement phone sent. No big deal. But my phone is rooted and clearly has a new rom on it. For people who have gone through the process do you usually unroot and revert to stock before sending it back or do you just send it back rooted and let them worry about it?
I just dont want them to take away insurance because I rooted when this isnt even a software problem since im just replacing it because of a cracked screen.
What I did with my evo when I needed a new one was just put a stock rom on it and that was it I still had S-off to

Ok, thanks. The process isnt anything huge it would have been no problem. But didnt feel like doing it if I didnt have to. Looks like ill just send it back to em the way it is. Porbebly just full wipe and a fresh rom install so none of my info is on it and call it a day
When I warranteed out my phone, I just odined stock eg30 and used a jig. The jig isn't really necessary, but I would flash a stock to be safe, it takes only 5 minutes.

you are good
I've got a friend that works for a Sprint repair center. He said that as long as the insurance claim is for something other than software, you should be good.
I called today and made an appointment to see a sprint technician I go in and the manager stops me at the door and says can I help you with anything now any rooting veteran kn rows when u go into a repair center to play dumb so I said hum I have an appointment and he's like okay well come here and I'll look at the phone. That right there got me worried because and untrained cashier jockey was about to take a look at my phones sub port. The first mistake he made as I watched him carefully was he jammed his fingernail in the sub port and pryed the back cover off backwards and forcefully and almost throws my phone across the room. I wanted to say something but I did not want to spark him as he seemed to have attitude as it is. Well he outs a sub cable in ( first upsidedown) and he closely compares mine to the store cable I guess he doesn't know what micro sub looks like. And he says it charges just fine and decides to finally bring it to a technician and they ran a detailed test on my sub cable and determined it was frayed on the inside so I said to myself no buggy I then decided to ask if he cud do something about this crack in the screen bezel just about the volume rocker. And he employees and talks to me as if I'm 5 years old. The worst part is because he wasn't a technician I never got the survey call from sprint to rate his poor performance
Edit pleasebignor the subs* I opined back time stock today and you all know how shifty Samsung's spell check is

I have a good relationship with the tech supervisor at the local repair center. The thing that kicked it off was when I brought my OG Epic in back when I was trying to get MIUI on it (before MIUI was release for it), he thought it was pretty cool that I was tweaking the phone like that and asked me if I could do anything with his Evo......free service/repairs ever since, no questions asked.

Yes, it's not illegal. But it does void your claim on the warranty, and if the rep was having a bad day, he could have easily turned you away for rooting.
What I have found is that although it is not " illegal " . It does not necessarily mean that you will not get a hard time about it. I have had very different experiences even in the same store. Both negative, and positive. So I've learned it's better to remove as many reasons for people to give you a hard time as possible.

Well I don't think being rooted would have any affect on a cracked screen. However I would restore and unroot to be safe. Never know if some pissed of employee wants to take is anger out on you and flag something on your account. Or put notes that could hurt future insurance issues.
