[Q] MMS Problem with Juggernaut - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1322642&highlight=sms
When using this rom i cant get pictures.. it says it failed to download attachment, ive tried this over wifi and 4g please help

Nevermind.

What?? So lost

You can't send or receive MMS through Wifi Calling. It is a bug on Juggernaut

Its not through wifi calling its just a normal picture message

Yea, but is wifi calling on?

I have about the same problem. I can send/receive Pics with my Data on but when I put on WiFi I can't send or receive pics.
This happens with Stock, CM7, GO Sms, Chomp, and Handcent, and yes I am making sure my WiFi calling is off. I have even tried going back to 3.7 and it does the same thing. Actually it does this with just about every Rom I have flashed.
This is my first android and smart phone and I would hate to have a bad experience my first time around lol.

I am NOT a troll. For those that know me, it's an inside joke by now. ONLY because you state you tried every ROM. Guarantee you, this works 100% of the Time. Use the Zombie Rom. Install per OP and then install Handcent. Trust me, Handcent with Zombie ROM and wifi calling ENABLED works!!!! Takes maybe 5 seconds to send a test 700Kb pix to yourself with Handcent. No other third party app works. Stock messageing app will work, but it compresses down to 25Kb on average.
Edit: That's 700Kb or so of the received size. I will typically use my own camera shots that are maybe 1.5MB to 3Mb sized. The final file received is in the multiple 100's KB size. And no video arrow looking file either with Handcent.

GO SMS Pro works for me but i keep wifi calling turned off as i have unlimited calling anyway. Decent cell coverage at the house but i use wifi for data at the house. to my knowledge MMS requires you to send over cell so it disconnects from the wifi to send then reconnects.

Zombie and Bombard are 2 I haven't tried yet.
Would be nice if anyone could post or send me PM with which ROMs will send MMS with WiFi on. I don't need to use WiFi calling since I have unlimited minutes so 2.3.5 ROMs will work too.
Also thanks the Zombie ROM will send MMS with WiFi calling enabled would you happen to know any Themes (Flashable) that work with Zombie 3.1? If so could you please send the link in a PM please.

No wifi calling is off... so what do i do.. and i tried handecent sms still does not work... maybe i should just go back to stock

I already stated an absolute bet my life and my first born guarantee that one ROM I know of will work and send MMS using WiFi calling enabled, and it DOES use wifi since an extremely large file that is compressed to around 750Kb in size will send successfully in around 3-5 seconds once you hit send. Yes it requi8res that said ROM. And yes, it absolutely requires Handcent. There are some themes becoming available or already are. Just look specifically in the themes threads. Please jsut look. No, I don't want to specifically name again here, since many users are convinced my sole purpose on XDA is to be a shill (poker term), aka Troll for said ROM. OK shoot,e. The ROM begins with the last letter of the Alphabet

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1420441 is specific for Zombie. Just look at the themes threads here. Already tested an earlier version, of this them on an earlier Z ROM and it worked fine. Downloading now and will confirm in a few minutes.
Edit: Installed by simply flashing with NO wiping anything. Just boot to clockwork recovery and flash the zip. Here'sd a screen shot. Also playing with the DX Home launcher which I have installed here using the IPhone4s theme. Lots of themes, BTW...just playing around. If one is familiar with MIUI, it's extremely close to that look, BTW.
Edit 2: Forgot the 14 toggle dropdown in notification has quick boot feature. Have to delete the app here and place something else on my desktop

ATT Voice and Data together Problem

Since I installed a custom ROM, I have not been able to use data and voice at the same time when on 3G. I made sure that my settings was set for ATT and have not changed from the stock radio.

You need one of the dialers that will allow this, either the ATT dialer ( have not seen a cab for it) or the 2g leo dialer.

huh, that's interesting. can anyone clarify why the rom needs a seperate dialer to accomplish this? I don't understand the mechanism or restriction. either way, i'll search for att dialer but in the meantime, anyone care to post?
thanks!

The reason being that the other networks do not allow voice and data at the same time so the dialers are set to cancel the data connection when a call comes in so you dont miss calls

i see...that simple huh....so if i install the dialer you mentioned, will it'll work in 3g right? because i thought you couldn't do both in edge. and is the dialer just working in the background or will it change anything noticable? thanks for your help!

Yes you need 3g to do both. The reason it is called a 2g dialer is due to no video calling in the dialer. it will change the look of the dialer due to being a different one. no prob
I'm also in ATT network, using NRG Phoenix Rom (Jan 15, Standard, v.21889) and using 4.49.25.88 radio. Did a quick test yesterday by starting a download from mediafire and then calling my own number from another line, and had no problem finishing the download. I couldn't notice if downloading was interrupted during the phone call, but I don't think Mediafire supports pausing a download.
So maybe the issue is something different than the dialer.

The easiest way to test this is to make a call to say your voice mail and then try to connect to the internet or receive email

can you please try and post what happens when you dial someone, connect the call, then try and initiate a data connection such as opera? I think initiating is a problem. I've also had opera open, received a call, then been unable to use data. So in that case, the phone was already connected to data then added voice, and then lost data...so maybe still the dialer?
I'm going to likely flash to a new version of energy this weekend so maybe that'll take well and get rid of the issue. In the meantime, i'll try the dialer and post back if that helped.

does this dialer function the same, that is, does it still allow >2 party conference call feature? that's probably the most important feature of this for me as a business phone....i've got a 4 way conference call this evening and don't want to install the dialer today if I risk losing that function.

MMS Not Working on stock d118??? Solved!!!

Ok so, neither my phone or my dads phone will receive and download picture mail on 3g? We are on stock d118 noobnls kernal and it wont send or receive. Any ideas, im going to try flashing the d118 modem and see if that helps at all?
Found the problem apparently flashing deodexed themes on stock rom, leads to broken MMS. Guess ill have to look for an odex theme or whatever.
Updated: My mms broke again, just randomly? Could this be cause of poor 3g signal or is it have to do with my stock battery mod? it was working great yesterday after i took off my theme.. Any ideas??
Thanks
Edit Update!!: Turns out there is no working battery mod for stock odexed d118 roms?
If there is can anyone point me in the direction of a battery mod or theme that works with stock odexed please?
Thanks
Final update ok here is the verdict with any themes or battery mods on stock odexed d118 rom is that mms wont seem to work on 3g but will work through wifi.. I can't test 4g but I bet it works!
Any ideas why this decided to inky break mms messages on 3g?
Would greatly appreciate dome insight? Thanks

One thing to note, you cannot add most themes or a battery mod to am odex rom. You must be on a deodex rom. A battery mod or theme should not break any data be it txt or 3g. Themes arent applied to the radio. That being said on the Epic I get it random my mms just quits for a day. Every txt sent said failed BUT they actually send. And it takes hours to receive one. I'd lean towards it being on Sprints end and give it a day or two enough that sucks.

Thanks for this so mms is on sprint's side then I don't even get a do not sent msg it just sits in the msg with the envelope and the red timer and can't download any msgs I receive? Also when I was on stock totally it might of been a coincidence that sprint mms was working but seemed to work I do t know what's up with it

Im not promising you its sprint in your case just saying I deleted handcent off my phone thinking it messed everything up and the stock one was doing the same thing after. About a day and a half later they were working again. In about 6 months it happened 3 times that I remember. If its been this long re flash your rom

The problem was that i deleted either sprint android extension or sprint app updater and one of those broke my prl and profile and firmware updates. Now i have a theme on stock d118 mobile ap and mms working yay!!!

I am running cm7 final but I have been having the opposite problem, I can send but there are some I can't receive. When I have this issue the mms is usually coming from a person not on the Sprint network ...
If you're having issues sending/receiving mms, try the following.
Using adv launcher, create a shortcut to custom activity.
Specifically, settings/*apn*. I can't remember the exact name, but you'll have to navigate the list of junction points when you do the settings pull down.
Once created, go ahead and tap on the shortcut. You'll see 2 apn settings. One will have sprintpcs.com in the MMSC field, the other wont.
For the one that does not, scroll down to APN type. Change the parameter in that field to 'default' (small letters without the quotes).
For the other one, change it to 'mms'
Reboot. You should be good to go.

Well......is kind of like comparing peanuts to apples here BUT take Windows for example! Windows gets released right?! Well is suppose to be BUG FREE and completely sable correct? WELL it isn't! Not every rom on here is 100% BUG FREE and it needs updates/little things fix from time to time because not every phone acts the same way to every rom! CM7 works flawlessly on my phone but as you can see, dude has issues with his MMS! Not trying to start an argument or anything on here BUT don't act all high and mighty because you're using a sense rom where things happen to work a bit better!
It takes bigger balls to do something completely different like an AOSP rom then just play around with .PNGs and call it a ROM! I could take a sense rom and use it as a base and change a couple of things, add some wallpaper and upload it but am I going to?...NO!!...because that's just stupid!
I'm not acting all high and mighty. I just happen to be using a sense ROM now. I've ran CM, too. And Miui, et al.... Like I told someone yesterday, when I buy a new car, I don't need to add things to make the lights go on, or do some fanangling to make the wipers work. MMS is a basic feature of the phone. The basics, like GPS, etc, should work by default, not because you have to type some weird code into you dialer, oh, and do it on another type of mod first, then flash back to CM......

exactly! im not sure why cm7 was finaled, too many bugs yet compared to the deck rom or salvage-mod rom which both are 100% functional.
I'm not getting what you guys are saying about bugs. I have experienced none. Mms, GPS, wimax all work out the box.

Seending MMMS/Uploading Photos

Has anyone noticed problems doing these two things?
Sending MMS and uploading pics to Twitter take FOREVER and just fail a TON.
Doesn't matter the rom, kernal or modem. It always acts the same. I understand it taking a while, but not failing. It just sits there and even with a good signal the bars arrows don't pop up......
it's really annoying. I understand it takes a while because the pictures are big (usually screenshots go right away) but isn't that the point of compression? And shouldn't it eventually go?
EDIT: And it's def an android thing. I used an iPhone as well as Blackberry and had no problems with this.....also have experienced it a bit with other android phones and never said anything. I just wanna send damn pictures! lol.
I can't speak for twitter uploads, but I have, on occasion, run into mms sending problems. A profile and PRL update followed by a reboot fixes it for me. I'm not sure if it will send if you have a pending one, you may need to delete it and send again. Hope this helps

Usually playing around fixes the MMS....but I just want it to work all the time lol...Twitter is always the Twitter for Android app....other apps work...but I don't like them.
Also, I only asked the questions bc my MMS have been failing all day....but I'm on CM9 and am guessing it is an issue specific to that.
On 3g mms does fail a lot for me but that's cause sprint 3g used to suck a lot back when I used mms
On my kick ass wifi I get no failures
I'm guessing data speeds play a large factor in failing or passing

That used to happen to me untill I started playing with different prl's I haven't seen it happen lately. But the data speed does play a big part at least for me it did

Ugh, I stick with Sprint because they are cheap but I really get tempted to pay $20 more and not have to deal with the crapiness. I don't have WIFI everywhere, especially not at work...
EDIT: Just realized I'm retarded my post title says "MMMS" lmao.

All of a sudden MMS will not download or send when wifi is on?! Wtf.

Hey folks. So, I was running Calkulins EL 29 2.9.2 Gingerbread ROM. I have never had any problems sending and receiving MMS when Wifi is on. However, all of a sudden, it now fails to download or send when WiFi is turned on. I have to shut off Wifi to receive or send. This is a major inconvenience as everyone knows the Epic 4G Touch can tend to have a lazy 3g radio and will give up on big MMS pictures too easily, unlike some other smartphones i have owned.
I have wiped, flashed other ROMS and am having the same issue. Please note I did NOTHING, just woke up one morning and it completely stopped working. I didn't mess with dialer codes, ect. Can anyone point me in the direction of what I need to do? Do I need to do some dialer data resets? I have tried ##3282# however cannot find an option to do a restore settings or anything like that like I could on my Evo 3D. Any help would be greatly appreciated..
Hey Paul. Gotta love Sprint .
I just had to do this because my phone calls kept going to voicemail. Reflash the modem and update your profile & prl. If that doesn't work, try reprovisioning the phone. I wrote this method up, follow it very closely... :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26131653&postcount=4244
I appreciate this info, but unfortunately it did not let me send MMS with Wifi on. I wonder if Sprint did something behind the scenes that I cannot do anything about..

Not that I am aware, just tried the open hotspot across the yard and still no go. I wasnt able to do the MSID walkthrough, I am using PhantomHackers ICS rom, the code just didnt do anything in the dialer, but ##72876# or whatever it was did work.
I thought you were still on GB . Since you just flashed the phone anyway, why not just one click back to stock rooted to see what happens. I'm running out of suggestions btw LOL.

Regular SMS is groovy. Weird, huh?
Check out this page in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527041&page=423
There are some suggestions there as well. I knew I had seen this but it's been a while since anyone has had this particular problem.
You are not alone my friend. Same annoying hiccup here. Mms send also acting shotty. Could be network. Not sure if sprints website/system going down earlier today has something to do with it. I went with my bro to local sprint store for upgrade earlier today, thats how I found out about sprints problems today.
Weird. It seems to be working again after like 200 reboots... That is, it's working on my stock rooted Photon. I'll check my wife's SGS2E4GT tomorrow AM and report back.
Something that strikes me as super weird: The proxy for MMS (##DATA#) is mms.sprintpcs.com. But it looks like Network Solutions has parked a temp site there as if the domain is expired. The whois looks fine. The port for the proxy is 80, the same as what my browser would try.
You guys arent alone....just happened to me to today...after 3 days of VERY weird/weak reception. My signal on EL29 modem would go up and down.. from full bars to absolutely NONE, and come back again. I dont know if its the freakin 'solar flares' that we have been experiencing.....cuz i remember sometime last year i had horrible reception when we had those solar flares again........
i'm having the same issues too but only noticed after flashing the wicked sensations & phantom ICS roms. reverted/restored back to calk's 2.9.1 el29 and it still doesn't work over wifi. i've tried rebooting & updating profile/prl with no luck. how do i fix this?
Same thing here and I changed nothing on my phone. Has to be a Sprint issue.

There are a bunch of reports of Sprint issues. I've had multiple denied sms and had to retry. My partner has a rooted Evo and he's having trouble placing phone calls. Someone else here reported a quirk in reported dns for the Sprint messaging server(s) and someone else reported using the SetDNS app to make changes and that seemed to improve their problem. Of course, the Sprint helpdesk is denying everything. Guess we'll have to wait it out.
This must be a Sprint issue for sure, mms is sending over wifi for me again.
mine still doesn't work of wifi
