[Q] E-mail Combine View as default? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hello,
Is there a way to make the combined view default in the stock e-mail app? Or do I have to use another e-mail app?
Thanks

Download Desktop Visualizer from the Market. Open and you can define a new shortcut (if you prefer with a custom icon) for your homescreens. Choose other, Email and then combined. It will make that shortcut to your homescreen....
Voila.., all done...

It shouldn't be that hard to figure out but it is. Why is there no clear cut way to show the combined inbox? Luckily another thread explained it...You have to create a widget and the widget can be selected to show the combined view, this will give you consistent combined view when you click on it. I just upgraded to CyanogenMod 4.2.2 Jellybean and it has the same deficiency. You'd think that there would be an option somewhere. Find a Google developer to fix this please.

[Q] Xperia Arc Calendar Default View

hi people,
Coming from HTC Sense background, I have been able to set my default calendar to open in month's view. However I cant seem to find this option from the xperia. Any of you guys and gals able to help me with a tweak or a 3rd party apps? Ive been looking around the market but mostly are widgets.
Thx for any help
I use Jorte. You can open it to a month view.
As in view the whole month? Jusy opened mine and thats what it opened with... Dont think ive opened it before now
Sent from my LT15i using XDA App
Mine opens in Month View by default in the beginning.
Then I put the calendar widget (the one that came with the set).. when i press that widget it goes to agenda view.
Now if I press the Calendar app, it goes straight to agenda view even if there are no events. I can't get it to open with default Month view anymore.
Yea, i would like to know too... how to fix it to always open in Month View when using the Calendar app.

this is wat i'm facing...whenever i click the widget or the calender, it opens agenda view. since i can see my appointment via the widget, i would love to see my month view whenever i press the widget.
I remember with HTC, there's an option to select which view as default. Can it be that SE hide the function (the same like they hide the auto brightness toggle)?

I came from Desire HD.... Guess we have the same problems that weren't present in Sense... i want the Month View back and I also want the option to disable autobrighness (it's causing my screen to flicker when set to abt 50% brighness)
easy way to change default calendar view
have you tried this:
- run a task killer
- open calendar and change the view to your desired default view
- use task killer to kill the calendar app
from now on, that last view used before the kill should be the one to open by default

[Q] [APP REQUEST] Gmail Notifications

Hey Guys and Gals of XDA,
Kinda wondering if anyone has come across an app that will change how android handles when we get a new gmail email.
Currently when you get a new email you get a notification in the drawer.. Im looking for an app to change that. I dont want any notification in the drawer. I just want an unread email number to show up on the icon on the home screen. SMS message app does this when you get a new message.
If anyone has any known apps or wants to develop one id be full game..
Thanks
That is not possible for the time being. It used to be, but then GMail removed the API that allowed this (for security reasons)
http://www.launcherpro.com/2011/07/09/upcoming-changes-to-gmail-app/
We will have to wait until GMail offers this through some other type of functionality.

Use the plug in for Go Launcher (Go Notifications), of course, implies that you have to use Go Launcher, but it's a very good launcher.

The same problem I mention affects Go Launcher too (as well as any other apps that used to provide unread count)
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.gau.golauncherex.notification&hl=en
-------Important--------
The Gmail app has updated to new version and the API we uses to access your Gmail in our Notification app is being removed in Gmail.
We will continue support Gmail notification if your Gmail app doesn’t update to the newest version. But once your Gmail is updated, the notification option will be removed from GO Launcher.

So, this is a gmail thing, don't upgrade to the latest version or downgrade to the previous version. I haven't upgraded to the latest version, my notifications show up.

[Q] How to set default view in Email app

I have two accounts in the stock email app and I want the combined view to be the default but it keeps coming back to the main email account. How do you set it to default to combined view instead?
You need to use the email widget. There is a 1x1 icon and when you select it it will ask which accounts you want to use.
I see, it was a shortcut to create the icon for it. Thanks!

Is it possible to do these things on the Galaxy Nexus?

I'm a new GNex owner, and having used other Android overlays such as HTC's Sense, I was wondering if it's possible (if there are any mods possibly?) to do:
- Link Facebook status updates with contacts
- Link Facebook pictures with contacts
If the two above are not possible:
- When setting a 256x256 picture that is good quality as a contact picture, is there a way to have it remain good quality? Every picture I assign contacts looks like crap and pixelated
Adding on:
- Is it possible to create folders in the app drawer?
- Is it possible to change the color of a new message in the text messaging application? When you get a new text it's white instead of light grey, and it's hardly noticeable which conversation is the new one.. is there a way to set the new conversation (in the message inbox overview) to say a light blue that matches the rest of the UI? Or even have a notification beside the message (where it displays all the messages) to let you know which one if the new message?
Thanks.

**I believe there is an app called hacksync or haxsync (not sure on the spelling) that lets you link up contact pics through facebook. having never used it I can't tell you if it is in the store or here on XDA. I would do a search and I'm sure you'll find it.

**Unfortunately this is a problem on Google's end. The servers they use to store contact information on have very low picture resolution. like 96x96 low. Solution: in the account settings, turn off sync google pics or use hacksync

**Neither one of these options are possible unless your rooted. even then I haven't seen a mod for adding folders to the app drawer. It could be out there but I doubt it. There are mods for changing the apperance of the stock msg app but you are limited to whatever the themer wants it to look. (I actually feel the same way about the calender ut so far I haven't seen a good replacement theme for it yet). however, if you want full control to customize your SMS the way you want, you can either download GO SMS or Handcent SMS from the store. Both offer full customization for all aspects of the application.
I hope this helps

Not to my knowledge. Definitely not in stock.

Alternate SMS apps can surely configure colors.
Thanks for the responses.
I downloaded HaxSync and it's awesome! The pictures are good quality and it shows recent activity from my contacts.
I'm going to try an alternative messaging application. If I have two messaging applications open though at the same time (does the stock messaging app run as a background process all the time?), will it slow my phone down?

It will run, and is required to fetch the messages. It won't slow anything down.
Go launcher EX allows you to make folders in the app drawer i believe.
I havent used it for a while but its a really good replacement launcher and has tons of features.
You might like that.

It'll be fine mate, just remember to turn off the notifications in the stock messaging app.

Not at all. Just disable notifications in the stock app and you're good to go with the replacement.
I'm on stock yakju 4.04 and yes, I'm able to create a folder and drag it to my app tray.

[Q] Email Widget

I am able to place a gmail widget on my home screen, but there does not seem to be a standalone widget for exchange email accounts. Am I looking in the wrong place, or has that option been removed? If it has been removed, does anyone have suggestions for a good widget to download for the purpose of being able to readily see microsoft exchange emails on my homescreen (without having to open an app)?
Thanks.

The exchange widget seems to only be on the magazine ux side (swipe to the right).

Thanks. I wasn't for sure what that page was called, but did see that it included the exchange widget as an option. I'm just used to having all of my email and Google Voice accounts shown in one place. It will be inconvenient to have to switch between pages or to open the email app each time.
