With HTC sense roms, when u sign into Google, it automatically downloads all ur apps from last time my device synced.
When I log into cm7 or miui, it doesn't automatically download any apps.
Is there something that HTC sense rom have that makes the apps download automatically?? If so, is it possible to have that implentes into cm7 or miui?, possibly on ICS as well?

I'm not 100 on this but I do believe the reason for this awesome feature is 'HTC setup wizard'.
And if it is, I'm guessing just like everything else Sense, it wont be able to be ported/used since the framework is different.

I've flashed 4 different ice roms and only one of them has restored my apparently and also pretty sure its due to that one being the only one with a setup wizard. Wasn't a HTC one though so it is possible if incorporated in the rom

i wish this feature can be implemented into other roms. that is one part about why I dislike AOSP roms. I hate freshly reinstalling all my 50+ apps.

Well Titatium backup has the feature where you can really install all your apps with no prompts.
Its what I always use anyways. I feel the market way is too slow.

Speed fix for Froyo Roms on MARKET
After playing with alot of Roms one thing i noticed is the incredible slow speed of market loads and searching. LeeDROID rom has excellent market speeds. The attached file is a grab of Market files from the LeeDROID rom and then packaged up to flash.
This has been tried on multiple roms and gives EXCELLENT SPEED WITH LOADING, SEARCHING and even DOWNLOADING. It is also know to give you back that illusive PAID TAB in some instances (has worked for me every time)
Give it a go and let us know what you think. Countrys with no paid apps may not add the paid tab.
Also once rebooted it may take half hour to sync up with Google before you notice the speed. But once its going it is alot faster
ENJOY!!
Install - Flash zip from Recovery or ROM Manager
of course always nandroid first before flashing anything.
I take no responsability for bricks
Big thanks to LeeDroid (and congrats on the new baby) and also dancedreamfly for helping with packaging

any feedback if people are noticing the speed difference here
Does it actually remove the Market or can it work alongside (for comaprison purposes it would be useful to download the same app within each)

it replaces it, could nandroid and compare your two different roms, but if you was suffering from slow market you will notice the speed anyway

I did, LeeDroid 1.6 ROM. It is fast but I honestly don't remember if old market was slow, sorry. But I don't see Paid Apps Tab.

It's actually a lot faster I'm using defrost 2.5a, and just updated the market to this, and its really good, even when I'm updating apps its quicker

i couldnt tell you, i have only ever tried on Sense Roms, Previous users have told me it worked on non sense roms such as Defrost so I should imagine it would work fine as it doesnt edit any of the framework of the rom.
Ill try it tonight and see but if you wanna have a go nandroid it first and let me know the results
what's the MACOSX folder?
No paid apps on djdroid.UK network..but its super fast and is now giving me the option to auto update my apps

How do i get titanim backup to work?
I already have perm root and granted it permissions, but it doesn't load any of the apps on the phone. I was gonna use it toget rid of the bloadtware on my bell desire z.
I just switched from a galaxy s so i'm still learning the ropes of htc's implementation.

U remove the apps? Did it stay after reboot?
Sent from HTC Desire Z using XDA App
nope, they are long gone. i used titanium to remove bloatware from my sgs before i switched to the desire. it's also really useful when flashing a full firmware coz you can back up and restore apps + app data in batches.

Titanium was fixed the other week to allow removal of system apps on the Desire Z and HD (before we had S-Off).
@jark99: yup. Just be sure to know exactly what you want to remove, and be careful not to remove important sys apps. One rule: if you're not sure the app should be removed or not, don't remove it.

Mostly this just a feature on their gerrit that is queued up for 7.1 that I really like.
The author of this mod was gracious enough to submit it to the CM gerrit, so I have pulled those changes (http://review.cyanogenmod.com/#change,4055 and http://review.cyanogenmod.com/#change,4056) into my own builds.
I have tested this with several apps that use ads, and it works flawlessly.
builds can be found at http://xdafiles.net/rhcp/
Will that work with higher than RC2? Pardon the stupid question but I know some other stuff refuses to work on different nightly's. Once flashed where is it at? This is very interesting to me
Yes, you can flash it over any normal CM build, nightly or RC. To access the permission revoking options, you go the "Manage Applications" menu, where you can view all installed apps. In the page for any particular app, it lists the permissions at the bottom, just tap the ones you want to disable and it will strike them through.
awesome, Thanks. I shall do that
So forgive my ignorance but what does it do

Can we expect update based on CM7 Final?
I was a complete idiot, and i wasn't pulling the change appropriately, so the build was broken for a while, pffmod build has been updated for cm7 final. get it at http://www.xdafiles.net/rhcp/
Sorry another stupid question...
Why is the file so big? Is it a standalone cm7 (I could wipe and install like regular cm zip?)
Do I need ti wipe cache and davilk cache before install?
Yes, it is a full rom . flash it like a normal cyanogenmod rom , no need to wipe.

Cyanogen is afraid of the amount of problems this may cause for people that don't know what they are doing. There is an effort right now to put a toggle in place for the feature and I am hoping that the feature makes it in. I am pulling and building with the feature tonight, but I don't know how much longer thats going to be possible. Please tweet @cyanogen if you want this feature in CM going forward.
i was just wondering if anyone knows why google play store doesnt restore any of my apps after i do a clean wipe and and flash a new rom. it used to start re-downloading them immediately on the first boot up after i signed in on my G2X when using a CM based ROM. and does any know of a free and reliable way to batch restore apps???
I wonder this my self... But I use titanium backup it has its bugs sometimes but it works fine for me

Well I was hoping there was a free legal way to get it.... like taking a offer or a survey. Kinda like how akinator lite offer akinator pro to people who like their Facebook page or tell a certain amount of people about the app.... free doesn't always mean steal. Remember that

Did you leave the box checked that said sync with Google (OE something like that on the first boot)
And as far as tb goes give app to zip a try. Its a great app, and there is a free version that will do all you need. And the pro version is less than three dollars

Saving my apps to an sd card works for me. I also tend to modify roms via the android kitchen and while at it, place a few apps I need accessible prior to flashing (root explorer, etc).
Well, I've noticed that they don't restore all the time unless you use the same ROM. But even a stock rim misses the occasional app. Titanium Backup works great for me.

Remove your Google account, and just add it back for auto restore to work again.

Just a kick because if your apps don't start to auto restore and you want them to, simply go to Settings, Remove your Google account, and just add it back. Worked for me.
I'm sure everyone's went through switching ROMs before. I want to know the most efficient way of restoring everything on switching, whilst still keeping data and small info like data usage. Titanium Backup is annoying without the pro version. Any alternative methods. I'm all ears .
Thanks

Okay, but is it easy switching between AOSP and Sense for example. I've always had problems with that.
Secondly I hate when I restore backup that I have to press 'okay' to install every app. Is that problem sorted?

Buy pro you don't need to hit ok or install for every app. Just once and done. Takes about 10-20 minutes to go from one ROM to another with my apps. Maybe little longer with tweaking the ROM to my needs.
Nice I'll be getting it
