Google Wallet and SSN - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I was adding 200+ to my Google wallet at the same time and on the second reload it asked me for my SSN. Anyone else get this before?

I haven't add that amount of money to my account but no.
The only time I was asked for my SSN was when I called money network to transfer balance from my previous phone to a new one, and it was only to prove my identity.
One question; what do you need $200 in your google wallet account? Doesn't it have a really low limit transaction limit? I know blinks has a $20 transaction limit.

I don't know the answer to your question. But how did you get the wallet working on the Galaxy Nexus? Is your phone a GSM version?

I'd be careful adding that amount. Supposedly the gift cards have been notorious for disappearing.
I've had a $10 free gift card from Google... and then it was gone. Weird thing was it allowed me to sign up again. I've heard several people who flashed another rom were able to get another $10.
Be careful.

Just install it. I've had it working on the Verizon version as well. Look in the Themes and Apps section.

Are you talking about Blink by Chase? I have definitely used it on $150+ purchases,

Everyone gets asked for their SSN the 3rd or 4th time they add funds/cross the 100 dollar mark. It's perfectly normal.

Check the terms and conditions for Google Wallet/Money Network. It states they do additional verification (SSN, etc) after the 3rd or 4th reload or $200 dollars total (something along these lines).

The Google Wallet accounts are tied to the device themselves which is why when installed on a new device, people's balances from their previous Google Wallet account does not show up. A simple call to Money Network clears all that up very easily, and you still get to keep the free $10 on the new device in addition to the previous balance. Money Network is a very reputable company as they do provide payroll solutions for many companies. His money isn't going anywhere.

That can't be right. When you reset Google Wallet, the amount disappears unless you sign back up again. The credit is stored in an account.
That said, I don't see a way to get Money Market to cough up your funds other than by using Google Wallet.

I had network issues restoring mine yesterday and it gave me a phone number. I had no reason to save it since it worked fine when I had connection, but if you start to restore the card then turn on airplane mode, it should pop out the same phone number

If the money you have left is money that you added to the google prepaid card, then:
Call money market, they will ask you for the prepaid card number, which I don't think you saved. But you can also give them the Order # from when you added funds funds (you can find it in the receipt that they emailed you).
I'm pretty sure they can refund it to you somehow.
Note: To identify yourself, they will ask you from your name to how many times a day you take a crap.
I know all this because this is how I transferred previous balance from a returned phone to the new one.
Good luck.
It makes sense you can't keep it. That 10 wasn't just for free, it was to use Google wallet, since you have a phone that cannot use Google wallet now, the terms of the promotion no longer applies to you and you don't get to keep the money. Seems fairly straight forward. Not trying to be an ass btw

I tried when I log into my Google wallet account on the computer the Google prepaid card is not there.
Well anyway I called Google wallet and they transferred me to money market I had to give them first 4 and last 4 digits of the card I used to load the prepaid than had to go thru identity check they need your full name, address and SSN#. They will send me a check in main with deducted 5$ fee for making the check I guess. The only thing it takes 45 to 65 days for it to come in mail. Now I can rest easy.

Provisioning of Google Wallet Prepaid Cards Restored

http://www.theverge.com/2012/2/15/2...ecurity?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
Good news. Google Wallet "fixed" and provisioning of cards restored.
My wifes GN is now working fine, my GN that I had reset my wallet is not. All I get is the "Try Again" or "Remove Card" options. I called Google they sent me to Money Network who was a overnight call taker, didnt know much of anything. He created a ticket for the issue. Thank for info OP, at least I know they are not planning to take over the world with my $20! LoL
I tried activating the card, but it still states that service not available....Contacted Google and they informed that the pre-paid card is temporarily unavailable now....am i missing something?
yea this is a serious tease.......ugh
sidenote
the really really odd thing, i just called them about a hour ago when I didnt see these articles yet and neither google wallet or money networks had any freaking idea. they basically said "we hope to have a fix by friday, if not monday"
wtf
That's weird. Mine's working and shows the card/bank info and everything.

From what I've found, the announcement about prepaid working again is for new users - those that haven't set up Wallet on their devices before.
Folks that have had Wallet and kept their data intact during the "outtage" *should* be able to continue to use Wallet as normal.
Those who wiped their data (as I did in preparation for a ROM upgrade) are still waiting on their prepaid cards to be made available. This is what I found out when I called Google and Money Network this morning; I'll call again tomorrow and see if there's any change.

Thanks for the update. Plz update us tomorrow after your findings?
Just went and tried to buy batteries at Rite Aid with my phone. Payment came up I held it on the terminal, then entered my PIN and put it back on the terminal. After a couple seconds it said "sent" but the merchant never got confirmation. I took it off the terminal and it gave an error saying to have the merchant reset it or whatever. Tried about 4-5 times it did the same thing every time.
Anyone else have this experience?
Also, looking at my transaction record it looks like the first one actually went through... but my balance doesn't reflect that, and it never gave me the merchant name or $ total. Thinking maybe they messed something up on their end? And after the first one didn't get accepted it blocked me from accidentally making multiple purchases?
edit: In the notes area, I wrote that. It was blank.
You most likely needed to hit "ok" on the physical terminal. Some stores you don't, some you do.
My wallet isn't working either. I had data in it (showed $3.XX balance), but it kept failing when I tried to add funds. I reinstalled and now I get the "Prepaid is unavailable" when I try to add the prepaid card.

No prompt on the terminal at all. It just sat blank. Never got prompted to choose credit/debit either as the Google Wallet tutorials say you may have to select "credit" if possible. The terminal was blank the whole time : /
I know it may be having issues now but this experience isn't making me confident about Google Wallet. I really really want to be able to use this.

It opens the app for your PIN when you set the phone on the terminal, you enter the PIN and place it back down, and it makes the sale. It initializes with NFC to know to accept the payment.
Slightly off topic, but did anyone receive a $10 credit after activating a Google Prepaid card on Google Wallet?
Imagine a credit/debit/giftcard that doesn't physically exist in your wallet but you can use it at certain stores to pay for things. That is what the big deal is.

Yeah, gift cards or prepaid credit cards are probably the least unwieldy solutions.
Another option: temporarily attach your CC to her Google account, buy the apps, and then remove the CC from her account. This way she should be able to get updates in the future but won't be able to initiate in-app purchases.

Q1. Which prepaid credit card do you advice? That's a good idea, I'll give her this for xMas. Is there any expiry in this system? (Must spend all funds before X days?)
Q2. In the mean time, I would like to take advantage of the 75% discount of the 25 billions campaign in Google Market which is running currently. Can you describe how to attach my CC to her Google account? Did you mean my existing Google Wallet or should I sign up her own Google Wallet but using my CC card? Afterward, how to remove?
EDIT: Please forget. I just tried to buy with her Google account, the Google Wallet form pops up, I signed up with my CC. I see in Google Wallet that it is possible to delete the CC info any time. So I think Q2 is now fully answered.
Sorry for all these silly questions. Hope you don't mind to explain a little bit more. Thanks
Just noticed you're in Canada. We have a more limited selection of prepaid credit cards here - most come with extra fees.
Another thought - now that VISA debit is available in Canada, you may be able to attach a debit card of her own to her Google Wallet. Then it's her responsibility to not overspend her own money Just be wary of overdraft fees.

AHA, I knew there was a setting something like that but I'd forgotten where.
Nonetheless, I think if you attach your CC to her Google account, it still means that she can use her password to spend money with your card on the web Play Store in a browser. So that is not a perfect option.
You can attach a card to the play store, then secure it with a pin. This is what I do with my son. If he wants to get a game or purchase any add ons for his games he has to come to me and or mom in order to proceed. It works great. I also get and email notification for any purchases he makes so I'm always in the loop.

No any purchases in that play store account requires the use of the pin, if child doesn't have pin child can't purchase. If child finds work around and a way to crack it then parent has bigger problem than child buying apps.

Just tried it. I assigned a Play Store PIN to my GNex and checked that it must be used for purchases. Then I logged in from my laptop in the web browser, and purchased a 25 cent app to be sent to the same GNex. The purchase went through.
It would seem they need to implement PINs on the *server* end of the Play Store, not client.
Heck I went into settings and cleared Play Store data and that removed the purchase PIN too. This is clearly an honour system.
Pay for an app for someone as a gift. Or kids devices
You get two choices when you accept to buy an app on the device you want to install app on. You can pay or there is an option to send URL for payment to whoever via email. So send URL to yourself or whoever is going to pay via email which will auto pop up when you select... Send URL... .. I send to my Gmail account then click link on pc or phone and follow instructions to pay . Easy
