Was wondering if I need to exchange my Galaxy Nexus to Verizon, I must have a defective phone, because when I miss phone calls, the LED/Pulse notification light never blinks.
Anyone else have this issue ?
I had some notification light issues, but after setting up the app Light Flow, all my notification issues are gone. Try to play with that app a little. If notifications still don't work, then you definitely have a bad phone.
Thanks, will try that app. I do get notifications for missed texts or voicemails, just not missed calls.

Hello everyone,
I recently got a nexus and love it. Just one thing that I can't quite figure out is the notification light. Is it supposed to come on, when you have a text, email and notification from an app? I have it activated in settings but it doesn't seem to be coming on when I have a notification. Any ideas or special settings I should be aware of?
BIG THANKS IN ADVANCE!
When I'm charging my device, or if I receive a message my led lights up. I have light flow installed though. Didn't set up anything in my rom control settings.
Also when you receive a message do you check it right away or let it sit? If I check my message right away it doesn't come up if my phone is idle it flashes as a reminder.

Thanks, I can try that program. But isn't it supposed to show the notifications on its own? It did light up ONE time when I got an email. I'm on stock 4.0.2.
* Lightflow seemed to correct the problem. THANKS!
the built in notification is a fail. all the apps have their own settings which is why some pulse and some dont. Just download light flow..more control as to colour and pulse time and speed and such.
I dont use any app and my light works fine. Text blinks blue using handcent, google voice blinks green, gmail blinks white.
I believe the led can be configured by any app if the dev codes it in, but google did not give us control of it, instead letting devs handle it. Cyanogen surely will have built in controls.
I'm on 4.04 currently, 100% untouched. I always thought when you received a sms that the screen would turn on for a few seconds but I'm noticing this is not happening. Is this normal or have I got a problem??
Cheers

this is normal, if you want to control your notification led use this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...g.android.lightflowlite&feature=search_result
but if you want your display to turn on use this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.led.notify&feature=search_result
"Sms pop up" on the market will suit your needs.
good day.
You need a different SMS app to enable this. Handcent, chomp SMS, etc. Those will do what you're asking.
There is a reason we have a notification light...tbe sccreen turning on all the time consumes battery

Since Lightflow doesnt work... how are you guys handling LED notifications? Are they lighting up on missed calls and SMS.... cause I believe mine doesn't.
Thanks in advance.

Yeah, I'm just waiting until they fix it. I'm not sure why they don't have it built into the OS.
you should get notifications for SMS, gmail, email, google talk, google+ etc in as a white led which comes every 8-9 seconds. apps such as whatsapp you can choose your own color and twitter comes as green for me by default. i dont think missed calls show a notification unfortunately with stock. at least ICS didnt.
Light flow lite is working for me on stock 4.1.1

its NOT working complete. there is an issue that after some time these led notifications does not appear. its a compatibility issue with jelly bean.
the author of light flow already knows this issue:
Jelly Bean not yet clearing notifications
The accessibility service doesn't seem to be running in Jelly bean causing issues. I'm looking into it. Going into phone settings, accessibility and switching lightflow off and back on again sometimes helps.

Rooted JB,just go to accessibility settings and disable&enable liteflow, I found this workaround as effective.

Waiting for Light Flow to get updated.
LF doesn't work for me too.
I have problems with other Apps, like WhatsApp (LED notification doesn't work), but I don't know if it depends by LF.
I couldn't get built in LED notification or LF to work but I found out under display you need pulse notification light enabled and now they work fine.
FIXED -- SEE FIX BELOW
I have an odd problem. My TMo SIII receives text messages fine. However, the notification ringtone does not play until the phone is rebooted. I have notifications turned on, and it vibrates and gives a visual notification just fine. It's just the notification ringtone. All other notification ringtones work fine and notifications volume is turned up to full.
Any ideas how to fix this?
FIX: TURN OFF SMS IN GOOGLE HANGOUTS
Thanks!
Good to know! Thanks for updating with the solution!

I don't think I am searching for the correct phrase but I have been trying to find a solution for two days now.
When my phone is in the messaging app I do not get any notification sounds or vibration but if it is in any other app or at rest I do get notification sounds. How can I turn on sounds when I am in the messaging app?
Thanks,
Tom
No notification sounds for incoming text messages right? That is how it is. I just tested it with a friend and her G4.

Thanks for the support! To be clear, I do get notifications if I am not in the messaging app but if I am in the messaging app I do not.
Thanks!
