hi xda members,
i installed the cyanogen mod following all instructions on my gio gt s5660v (australian model) and wifi connectivity does not work.
i have tested with all open/secure networks, rebooted, cleared all with CWM, etc.
wifi shows as connected but no data can be downloaded
what would you suggest as the best recovery option ?
[ROM][2.3.7]CyanogenMod 7.1 KANG & ClockworkMod 5.x for Galaxy Gio (RC-3.0)

Problably because it is not compitable with the V version of the gio.. Try to get into download mode and flash back to stock rom

i downloaded the stock 2.3.4 via odin but wifi is still not downloading
there is no mention of the s5660v being incompatible with the cyanogen 7.2
i can't even update stock FW using kies
can you suggest anything else ?

Hi Everyone
I unlocked my bootloader a few months ago, rooted, and I flashed a version of ICS, which I think is stock. I dont have receovery installed, I tried to sort that out last night, but I got lost amongst and couldnt work out what to install and how.
Its 4.0.4 - 6.1.A.2.45 - and I am having a few issues with it. It seems to be laggy, the camera freezes when recording video and often crashes and doesn't save the video and the WIFI is just hopeless!
Does anyone know how to fix this? Is there a better .ftp for me to flash? Please leave links if possible because this issue is just driving me insane!
thanks!
Amanda
hi, try to locked your bootloader then repair via pc companion.
and also, for your other question click my signature "Read ME".
If it's unlocked the bootloader then fastboot a custom kernel. Advanced stock is great. Then flash a custom rom. May as I flash a Jellybean rom

I just installed ROM manager and found out clockwork recovery doesn't work for us why does everything have to be so hard with this phone?
Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk 2
Just have a look at the custom kernels and chose one then fast boot or use the flash tool, cwm works for us

The only problem with this is, you need to flash the doomkernal, which requires flashing back to GB? Then you need to install a host of other apps to get it too work. Just so I can flash a custom rom, wow, nothing is easy is it,
This phone is just so damned hard to do anything with, I am considering going to the new Samsung when it comes out in a few months!
No just flash advanced stock kernel instead from development forum. It's ridiculously easy once you're unlocked and have a cwm kernel flashed
Download a custom rom to the phone (i recommend pac rom)
Download advanced stock kernel to pc. Fastboot using that guide.
Then boot into recovery and install zip from sd and pick pac rom (follow the guidelines in pac rom thread for flashing)

First of all, I'm a bit new to the whole rooting/custom ROM thing. I rooted my Galaxy s3 i747m using odin and have cwm recovery installed. I flashed a custom stock jelly bean ROM with gapps. Everything works fine except the camera crashes upon startup even using third party camera apps, and there is no default music player installed. The music player is no big deal but I really need the camera to work. I have been searching around for camera apk's and i tried installing one and moving it to samsung/app using root explorer and changing the permissions as instructed. It still doesn't work and I am currently using a mac so it's hard to work with.
Should I try to go back to stock Touchwiz or does anyone have any suggestions on what to do to fix the camera problem? The camera doesnt even show when I search under all applications but it is present in the app folder and as a shortcut.
What ROM did you flash?

boot into recovery and see what version it says at the top. if it's not at least 6.0.2.3 or higher, your going to get a status 7 error.
here is the link to cwm 6.0.2.3: http://d-h.st/8qP
place the zip on your sd card and flash this in recovery. reboot recovery and see if its updated. if so, flash the rom/gapps
You can also download rom manager and update your cwm recovery from there.

That's what I did, and now everything works perfect, thanks! The only thing that bothers me is that the apollo music player won't go to the previous song.. but that's not a big deal.

Are you running the latest recovery? 4.4 ROMs require the latest TWRP or CWM.

Hello,
I'm having problem with my ACE 2. Found bunch of tutorials how to root I8160XXLD8. Mine is I8160XXLL2 original. Is it safe to do with I8160XXLD8 tutorial and files? What should I do, friends?
Found a topic with my question, but the links are dead, so it was useless.
Thank you very much, for your help.

One more question. I installed ROM manager and it says that CWM recovery is not supported for I8160. What should I do? Because when I launched the Rom manager and tried to install CWM, the program showed me samsung galaxyS i9000 as my model. And I remember when I tried to flash with another model's name I bricked my other Samsung phone.

Just installed antsm kernel with CWM. And other question:
When I install CM10.2 will that kernel disappear? Because as I understand with custom ROM comes and a new kernel. So I will need to install kernel again, if I would like to recover old ROM?
If yes, what kernel install with CM10.2?
Thanks a lot

To be able to install any custom rom like CM , AOKP or whatever else you must install stock JB before that. Otherwise you will get no servise. All roms are coming with CWM recovery by default.
Also, assuming you want to stay on Gingerbread, CWM and TWRP kernels cause filesystem corruption if you use their format functions.
As already said you must flash a 3-part firmware (like MB4.zip) before running cwm6.zip and using it to install your fav 4.x ROM.
