Updated Clockwork, now can't use old backups, need help

So I was using Nandroid to backup everything, but then I switched to clockwork and upgraded it to the newest version in ROM Manager.
I want to flash the recovery I made yesterday with nandroid. Ive switched back to Nandroid in the rom manager but it still wont flash the recovery.
How do i get my nandroid backups installed again?
Clockwork wont be able.to restore nandroid backup. You must switch back.to RA recovery to do.this. Clockwork makes a different type of backup format n its located under clockwork folder.
You can use Rom Manager to switch back to RA Recovery

I have switched back to RA recovery via ROM Manager.
I get part way through the recovery and it says "oops, something went wrong".
RA Recovery is at v2.2.2, when I was in the process of recovering before I got the oops message it says RA Recovery v2.3.
Is it possible I am using a version of RA to restore than the version I made the backup with, causing me problems?
Really appreciate it.
Still can't get this recovery installed.
Read the attached article:

In order for you to flash your recoveries you need to go back to Clockwork Mod recovery v. 2.6.0.1. It's at the bottom of the article by Koush. Flash it, reboot, turn off your phone, and then do a manual restore of your backup from recovery using v. 2.6.0.1.
Here is a PC36IMG.zip if you want to go that route instead.
I got the 'oops' error before....I solved it by wiping all, flashing a rom.zip then once booted back up I was able to use my backups with no issues

Failure to restore image from clockword mod

This seems to keep happening to me but if i backup a rom after setting it up how i like, i can see the files in the clockword mod folder but when i go to restore it it complains to me that the boot image is missing and fails constantly. I am using clockwork mod acsrecovery v1.0.0.5. and running thunderhawk 3.3 currently. What i do is choose (pre-rom wipe) then go to backup and restore, choose my restore image and go. From there it does some file checking and errors out about the boot img. file.
Thanks for any help.
Bml or Mtd?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
This should be in Q&A. He must be on BML because MTD installs CWM 5.027MTD.
OP I would switch to CWM 5.027 and try it again. Don't rename the backups.

im still fairly new so i dont know the difference between BML and MTD, sorry. I DID however read some issues with acs recovery and backups from here and qbkings video and how you should upgrade to 5.0.2.7 which i just did. Im backing up the rom through rom manager now and will give another go. Thanks.
edit: question, before restoring a backup does cache and dalvik need to be wiped?
looks like acs recovery was the problem. i just restored(with rom manager) a clean gb rom backup i made a little while back and it worked and right now the thunderhawk restore backup is moving along just fine with no errors. Thanks guys.

You are welcome. And no you don't have to wipe before restoring backups, it should overwrite everything.

[Q] Restoring From A Different Recovery

Hi all. I'm coming from a HTC Evo so some things on the touch are a little different to me. My question is this: I have noticed that some roms require a specific recovery be used. I am running AGAT recovery now but the rom I am wanting to install requires CWM. If I flash this rom and recovery, how do I get my AGAT backups if needed. Do I just reflash AGAT and use them? Like I said coming from an EVO, I only had one recovery (AMON) for all my needs. Switching back and forth between recoveries and how to do it is new to me.
Thanks,
LJ
CWM backups done in CWM or CWM based recovery should work in any CWM recovery of compatible version. TWRP, being a different case.
This phones recovery is packed in the kernel which you might have found out by now. You can flash kernels in recovery if they have a zip or you can use mobile odin (desktop odin as well) to flash tar's.
You can flash the kernel you used for the backup and then restore the backup if you want. If AGAT's recovery is CWM based (many are) you can flash most roms with it. Thats the entire point of it. But once you flash the rom you will have whatever kernel/recovery that rom has until you flash another one so it will change on you. If your going AOSP (cm9 etc) then stock cwm is of course recommended.
Thanks for the info.

There is not 4ext recovery for the epic touch. And no cwm wont restore backups from any other recovery except cwm or a cwm variant

Ok, if I understand correctly you have a rooted phone, and you have tried a CWM recovery, then made a nandroid backup. Then decided to flash TWRP Recovery, and with this recovery you are unable to restore your first nandroid backup, correct?
So you used to have cwm recovery then? Backups made in cwm are not compatible with twrp so you'll need to flash cwm again before you restore your backup. You can find cwm in the Original Android Development section.

[Q] Any modified CWM recovery or alternate to it?

I've CWM 6.0.2.3 installed. But i think it needs some kind of improvement. To select an option, we need to double touch that option. One for selecting and second for confirmation. This is because there would be less chance u select any other option rather that u want.Example is PhilZ recovery is the best recovery i used on my GNote..
Also, i want to know that which recovery (CWM or TWRP) is the best recovery for Gnex ?I heard TWRP is best alternative for CWM.
Thirdly, I used to restore my call logs and sms through Titanium Backup from CWM backup earlier. But the CWM backup format has now been changed.Instead of creating "backup" folder, contents are now saved in several folders called "blobs".So m left with no option to restore sms from newer CWM backup.
Any solutions or ideas??
CWM 6.0.2.3 reverted back to the old TAR format so doesn't use blobs any more unless you tell it to

what about TWRP recovery?and have u used PhilZ recovery?did u noticed any change?
I am rather new at all things android development but keeping that in mind I have easily backed up, wiped, flashed, installed, and restored no problem using twrp. Tremendously simple to download, install, and use with no hiccups along the way
I would check some videos out on twrp you might find it useful in your decision making on which recovery to use

As far that I know of PhilZ only makes recovery for Exynos-based device, like the original Note, there's no PhilZ for the Gnex. TWRP has all the thing that you've said earlier (And IMHO, more user friendly), but backups aren't interchangeable between the two. So you'll have to get rid of those blobs.
