I just downloaded MIUI (newest version) from there site, edited the installer script so it would install on my CDMA Desire, tried Vork and Tiamat kernals and while I could get the device to boot consistantly and everything else work, wifi would error out upon enabling. Does anyone know if there is something I could do to get this working? Thanks!

Hi!
This is my first time posting, but I have been using MIUI for about 6 months now. Its phenomenal. I recently updated to MIUI 1.5.6 on My EVO 4G. Ever since I did it The battery drains extremely fast compared to the previous version of MIUI i was using which was 1.4.3, I think.
The camera is also not working, it just goes to a black screen and then force closes.
I tries to change the kernel to Tiamat 4.0.1 and 4.0.2 but it fails each time I try to do it. I have tried other kernels including 2.6.35.8-bcblend-CFS-sim_io-classRCU, which may not be for gingerbread. Nothing works. I currently have 2.6.37.6-cyanogenmod-01493-g70877de Kernel installed and I need help getting a new one on here.
The phone burns through so much power now its insane. I used to get at least 14 hours out of it. Now, I had it fully charged about 20 minutes ago and its already down to 88%. Can anyone help?
Sorry if this is the wrong format or whatever:
Specs:
EVO 4G
Model: PC36100
Android Version: 2.3.4
Baseband Version: 2.15.00.11.19
Build: MIUI 1.5.6
I am almost a complete novice when it comes to this, so any help would be appreciated but if you could give explicit instructions on how to do everything that would be amazing.
Thanks!
Are you wiping cache and dalvik before flashing the new kernal?
Yeah, I reloaded MIUI after doing a format all and nothing changed. It still wouldn't let me flash the new kernel.
Use juicedefender beta for battery, use the camera fix from the miui.us forums (camera is a known issue, I had it at first, applied fix and all was fine) and flash a tiamat kernel manually through recovery, not kernel manager as for some reason kernel manager seems to screw up for me when flashing tiamat kernels.
edit: heres a link to the fix.
http://forums.miui.us/showthread.php?236-If-you-re-having-issues-with-your-camera-on-1.5.6
Also, I could be wrong but I believe some of the recent updates came stock with cm kernel, so flashing tiamat could also greatly help with battery. Try Tiamat 3.3.7 if youre having problems with newer releases as 3.3.7 seems to be the most stable.
I am flashing the kernel through recovery. Thats the only way I know how to do it. It always worked fine before and only now is it being problematic. I will try the defender app and see if I can find the camera fix. Thanks!

Posted the link for the camera fix! and what do you mean your having a problem flashing kernels? Your still s-off correct? And make sure when you are transferring kernels to sdcard you unmount sdcard when done, some of the newer kernels have problems with transfering data to sdcard quickly, and when you unmount or eject your card it insures the transfer is successful instead off cutting it off half way through.
I noticed the link for the camera fix, Thank you so much! I an going into recovery and when I flash Tiamat 4.0.1 or 4.0.2 I get:
E:Wrong digest:
system/lib/modules/sequans_sdio.ko
E: Verification Failed
Zip Verification Failed!
Zip isn't signed correctly!
Installation aborted
I'll try 3.3.7 and see if that will install. Thanks again.
Try Kernal manager lite. It flashes the kernel for you. Battery drain is expected when switching Kernals. Wipe battery stats and give 3 days for Kernal to settle in.

Usually mismatched libs mean youre using the wrong kernel. Cayniarb puts out multiple versions of tiamat for multiple devices. Make sure you downloaded the one for the evo (should say evo in file name) and not the one for the incredible, xoom, etc.

Like I said, I recommend not using kernel manager lite for flashing Tiamat as I've had some problems flashing tiamat through kernel manager, most other kernels seem to be fine for me? Odd but it is the case. Although kernel manager would be good for downloading the kernels since it automatically picks out your device and you can be sure you download the correct kernel.
Thank you! Kernel Manager Lite seems to have worked! I'll see how the battery problems go after this flash.
The camera is the only problem left, and I can't apply the fix, I can't seem to find the /system folder...
You need to use root explorer as astro file manager and other basic file managers dont have the elevated privileges to view /system. The app is a couple of dollars but I HIGHLY recommend it to any and every rooted phone user.
MIUI 1.5.6
I downloaded and redownloaded the rom twice and flashed it twice, did the wipe/factory data reset and calkulin wipe and both times it would install different things for the rom, like the first time it didn't install Gmail or market den the next time it only installed market and settings and 3 or 4 other apps and thats it, and when i try sending a text, i choose a person and type the message, when i hit send it says, no valid user, message can't be sent, will someone please respond and let me know whats wrong? I would really appreciate it, my brain is going in all different directions, i hope you can understand what im typing because im very confused right now
Thanks,
Tj
Hi All,
I have a question about cmw's recovery and the rom manager. In the dev forum, theres cmw 3.1.0.1, which i've downloaded. However, rom manager keeps telling me the latest is 2.5.0.7. So im curious which one i should actually be using?
Reason I ask is because i've been getting a few odd problems flashing rcmix on my phone. Generally it will work properly (coming from a stock 2.2 rom), though from any other rom it wont. I know that if i flash something like insertcoin, reboot to recovery, wipe/reset, install rcmix it never works. Same goes for when i come from rcmix 1.5 to 1.6 (and 1.7). I assume its got something to do with the a2sd partition, but im not sure what or why cmw recovery is not wiping that jumping between versions of rcmix end with a total failure (stuck at boot logo forever). Quite often this happens with other roms too (like going from rcmix -> insertcoin or oxygen).
Mines a desire lcd, often running stock 2.2 at the moment (rooted, s-off'd) and the standard hboot.
Officially the Desire had the latest recovery version of 2.5.0.7 or what ever it is. 3.1.0.1 is a build built from the source unofficially. V3 has a new type of script and so might help with your issues.
Tbh I hate rom manager because it doesn't work well. Try manually flashing roms. It might help even more.

Same here. RomManager doesn't offer 3.x.x.x versions. You'll habe to flash it manually via Fastboot (for S-OFF) or with Unrevoked (for S-ON).
I actually dont use rom manager for flashing roms and the only reason i went to it was cause I couldnt find a consistent way of finding the lastest clockworkmod recovery image (theres alot of conflicting info out there).
Thanks for the info though, was handy to know. Interestingly, the version rom manager booted me into (boots off update.zip from the sdcard?) was older then the one i had.

I have always stuck with CWM 2.5.0.7 - it seems to be the latest version that nobody reports problems with. I don't think there's any good reason to update to the newer versions.
Been trying this since last night/this morning...im running rooted epic of course....sfr 1.2 with stock kernel i believe <2.6.32.9> and i have tried trying acs updater to install genocide but....no go....i just booted in cwm and tried to flash it....no go....any suggestions please...Thanks...
Update: I just used acs updater to install the vision kernel from sd card and it worked..so im thinking its the genocide zip itself or the simple fact that i was trying to install the genocide version 1.1 not the newest one with srf 1.2...hmmm....
You should really modify the thread title saying your issue was ACS updater related. Leaving as-is can easily make people think there is an issue with the kernel itself.
Im still learning....thanks for the input..i just been on here for a few days...i tried to explain the best i could in the thread though...hopefully they would read the details and judge by title alone..i tried both methods <acs up and cwm>.... but can not succeed..so far...ill just stick with vision kernel for the moment because i just want to be able to under and over clock...for now!!
Evo 4g rooted with Kinged SHOOTER E3D ROM.
I downloaded and installed the kernel manager lite app. From the app, I downloaded and installed the kernel called tiamat. After it's completed, my phone reboots, but then it's stuck on the htc EVO 4G startup screen. I left it this way thinking it needed some time to load, but it's been this way for over 30 mins.
I have no clue what to do. Can someone pleaaaassse help??

Well if u don't have another kernel on your SD card to flash, then I'd say download one from your pc and use usb mass storage in recovery to get it to the phone and flash it, or restore a nand backup.
Edit...BTW I'm pretty sure tiamats kernel is just for aosp roms, look under the Android flavor column in kernel manager.

The TIAMAT Kernel is for AOSP, not Sense ROMs.
Use a Sense kernel and don't use friggin' kernel manager. Just use Recovery
I'm trying to flash my ROM from virtuous unity over to virtuous quattro. I have installed the most recent version of clockwork mod and ROM manager. However when I attempted to flash I've gotten this common error. I searched it on Google and seems to be on other incredible s/2 devices. Is there a way to fix this issue? I downloaded the most recent version of the ROM as well. I mounted the SD after booting into recovery, security is off, wiped with system factory restore, and tried just about everything else. Can anyone help ?
Because Quattro is for IncS only...
I'm so fresh you can suck my nits...
I know virtuous has there infinity rom on the inc2 but last I remember you have to flash the rom then fast boot the boot.img from ukb for it to not boot loop, I don't know about quattro if this trick would also work
