Hey guys!
So, I can clearly see this "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network" problem is quite common around here, so here we go.
After one year of normal use, I got my problem one day ago, no connection whatsoever since then.
Tried shutting it down, removing the battery and switching back on after 20 minutes.
Tried my sim card in another phone - Works fine.
Tried another sim card, from the same operator, in my phone - Works fine (WTF)
I then called my operator (it's a Brazilian operator so no matter mentioning it now) and of course, no solution. Payment is fine, everything normal.
So I wen't to my operator store and replaced the sim and... Still doesn't work!
I then borrowed a sim from another operator and... Nothing! No signal!
And just now, I realized that, when I change to "GSM Only" it works! The thing is I have an unlimited 3G plan, and use it a lot, this is not a solution for me.
I've always used my phone on "WCDMA Only" or "WCDMA Preffered", but when I switch to those, or to anything other than "GSM Only", it dies, no signal, even with GSM Auto...
I tried hard resetting, nothing helps here... I have no idea what to do next.
When on WCDMA Only:
Signal Strength: -71 dBm 21 asu
GSM Service: Emergency calls only
GPRS Service: Disconnected
Network Type : unknown
I bought the Phone brand new on eBay (or rather a brazilian version called Mercado Livre) and it's clearly from the UK (i can see from its plugs) but it's unbranded and unrooted, but unlocked.
Also. I heard this may happen with stolen phones, blacklisted IMEI's... How can I figure this out? And how does that explain the fact it works under GSM only?
Just searched my IMEI on different databases, doesn't seem to be stolen.
This is swelling my brain to the point I think it's gonna blow.
My Phone Sim Card (TIM Network) - Works on any phone, and works in my tablet, but not on my DHD.
My Tablet Sim Card (VIVO Network) - Works on my phone, and work on my tablet.
My friend's Sim Card (TIM Network) - Works on his and my phone fine.
So my DHD will work with ANY but my sim (which was replaced for a brand new today, with the same line)
And my sim will work with ANY device but my phone.
Oh my head....
Turn Aeroplane mode on, then off continuously until you get a 3G signal. If you still don't get connected, take your battery out, wait 15 minutes, put battery back in and it should connect.
If neither work then I know of nothing more you can do.

If other SIM card works fine and only have issue on 3g, then it must be an operator side error. Go in a TIM store and prove with different SIM cards, and Phone. They have to do someting.

Hello, I am new to xda so please go easy on me. I have been in the wireless industry for over 10 years. I was mostly a Blackberry guy, but recently had to make the switch to Android. I would rate my knowledge of Android as just above average. Anyway, I bought a T-mobile Galaxy S3 from a guy and when we met up the phone worked just fine. When I got back to the house, the phone would not make phone calls, text, get on the internet or anything. When you try to make calls, it says "Not registered on the network". I started to do some troubleshooting and found out that the phone will work fine when on UMTS, but not when on GSM. Examining the phone, I noticed that there was a scratch on the back housing where the GSM antenna is, so I ordered a new back housing. Even after installing the new back housing, the same problem exists. I thought maybe that the phone was possibly stolen and for some reason only blocked on GSM signal. So I called T-mobile and they said that the phone is not listed as blacklisted. Not sure what else could be the problem. The person that had the phone before me unlocked it and used it on att. Of course he says there were no problems before and will not refund. Please let me know if there is anything further I can do to try to fix this phone as I do not want an expensive paperweight. Thank you in advance for your help.

Can u check and see if you have an IMEI number showing when you dial the code *#06#? You should see a 15 digit number. I had a similar problem where I could only get 2g signal. When I checked my imei it had disappeared. Luckily I had a backup available.

Might want to also check Settings>More>Mobile Networks>Network Mode and tick it to GSM/WCDMA Preferred.
And finally, since he was using it on AT&T, you might need to check the APNs and make sure they are on TMobile's and not AT&T. If not, then you can manually put them in there (don't forget to hit save when done).
The APN settings are correct, the network mode settings are set to gsm, wcdma, lte. If I go to network operators and search, ATT will be the only network that pops up when I am in GSM area. I have hard reset the phone several times. I don't know anyone with ATT or I would try their sim card in there. My sim card works in other phones. I have reset the APN settings as well. Is there a possibility that they messed something up when they unlocked the phone to be used on ATT? The IMEI does display when I do the *#06# thing. I do appreciate you guys helping me out.
Thank you,

same issue
I'm having the same issue with my tmobile phone. I bought an s3 a few weeks ago and it had been working fine up until a few days ago when the signal dropped entirely. The same error appears - "not registered on network." At first I thought it was a rom I had installd but after flashing several roms I know this isn't the problem. I've tried searching for network operators, etc but still get the same error.
Any suggestions?
I'm in the UK on the Three network.
I recently purchased a Xiaomi Mi 6 (my current phone is an Mi 4) from Hong Kong Goldway. On booting it for the first time my sim does not seem to work with it. It shows 0 bars of signal, and says Emergency Calls Only.
I've not made any changes, and my sim works fine in other phones.
It's fresh out of the box, so no changes to MIUI, or to anything else. MIUI is at version 8.2 Stable, 8.2.2.0 (NCAMIEC). Android at 7.1.1 NMF26X.
I'd like it to work, but I also don't want to mess around with it too much if I need to return it!
Can anyone offer me help or advice?
How do I even return something to Hong Kong Goldway?!?
Have you tried it in the other sim slot?
Grab yourself a EE pay as you go for £1 and see if that picks up.
I have tried the other slot. Same problem.
Cheap sim is a great shout.
Updated to Global 8.5. Three sim still doesn't work.
Got a cheap EE sim, and it works in the phone. So I have a working Three sim (works in my Mi 4), a working phone (works with EE sim), but they will not work together. I've ordered a replacement Three sim just in case there's a strange issue.
Now the EE sim doesn't work anymore. It connected to EE, I received a welcome SMS and then it stopped working. I cannot make calls, or anything.
This is some odd behaviour I see:

Check out the top bar.
Between 1st and 2nd image I tuned on wifi/connected to my home wifi. It appears as if I am connected to a mobile network too. But I'm not. Still no calls/SMS/internet. Is this phone just broken?
Hiya, I'm using the Mi6 on ID mobile, they piggy back on Three, and I've not had any issues.
My phone came with the global ROM as well, and I've since gone onto the global beta. No probs.
I would say that the last few days there have been some network issues on Three around South West London, I'm having to turn mobile data off and on occasionally for it to actually connect. Though there's always been a 2G signal, so it doesn't sound related.
To be fair, once you've tried the replacement Three SIM, I can't see that it's anything other than the phone.
Fingers crossed!
Hello,
I just purchased an unlocked Note10+ N9750 Dual Sim in Taiwan, and I am currently located in Taiwan. The phone is on the latest SOFTWARE update from September 1st. ...ASI3.
When I put 2 Taiwanese SIM cards in the phone, the mobile internet works flawlessly and is extremely fast (About 200/50 on each network) when selecting SIM1 or SIM2 for mobile internet, with WiFi disabled. I can switch the cards and it works as expected.
The icons usually show 4G+, although it can sometimes slip into 4G for 10-20 seconds or so.
However, when putting my Tmobile SIM card into SIM1 or SIM2 along with a Taiwanese SIM card, and selecting the Taiwanese SIM card for mobile DATA (The goal here is to use the Taiwanese SIM card for data when in Taiwan), the mobile data is extremely slow (Around 2/0.5).
Furthermore, most of the time, when trying to access the internet, it appears that the phone is trying to connect for the first 5-10 seconds before actually bringing back internet data.
This can be with an app, like Whatsapp, or a simple Google search, or a speed test.
The icons will show 4G+ or 4G, not sure there is a pattern here.
I have tried everything I could think of with roaming ON/OFF, moving the SIM cards around, etc.
APN for Tmobile is correct and setup for IPV4/6 for normal, and IPV4 for roaming.
Again, if I simply replace the Tmobile SIM card with another Taiwanese provider (2 Taiwanese SIM cards installed), the internet is super fast and instantaneous on either SIM card.
The Tmobile SIM is working as expected in a Note9 TMobile Single SIM.
Not sure if anybody has some insight on what may be going on here...
Coming from a Note9 and the Tmobile SIM is less than 1 year old if I recall.
Thank you.
I forgot to mention that if I go into the SIM DEVICE MANAGER with both a Taiwanese SIM card and the TMOBILE SIM card installed and disable the TMOBILE SIM, the internet works fast as expected on the Taiwanese SIM.
As soon as I re-enable the TMOBILE SIM card, the internet is slow again and takes 5-10 seconds before bringing data back from a Google search, etc...
That's because if you are overseas with T-Mobile it caps data speeds I believe at 256kpbs.
I'm guessing the order of the Sim somehow maybe coming into play . Also generally second sim position will give you Lower speeds
Hello Joogle,
I should have mentioned that I have the 15GB pass from Tmobile, so 4G speeds while roaming up to 15GB. The speed when on the Tmobile card is very fast, 50/10 or so.
This is not the issue I believe.
Does 2nd position really give slower speeds? I did not know that.
Interestingly, I am in China at the moment and put a Hong Kong SIM card in slot #2 with my TMOBILE SIM in slot#1. Selected sim#2 for data, and everything works great and is always fast.
Not sure what to make out of that.
Preferred Network is set to: LET/TD-SCDMA/UMTS.
A bit confused by all the options of 4G SWITCHER.
Well, I found out that if I put my TMOBILE SIM in 3G/2G mode only, and leave the Taiwan SIM card at 4G/3G/2G, everything works great and fast with no delay...
This is fine since 3G is good enough for phone calls and text messages.
I have my Vodafone esim in my 6pro and the signal is fine on that no problems at all 4/5g pickup is good etc.
But my physical 02 work SIM (not on a 5g plan) - the signal sometimes disappears to the point it says no service and won't come back until I eventually reboot.
Any one else with this issue? Happens even in decent signal areas where I am used to using 02 a lot. And indeed post reboot the signal is good. Never has issues with the same combination of esim/physical SIM on my P5.
My Vodafone esim doesn't have this problem seemingly.
It could be a dodgy connection or the SIM was damaged on moving from one device to another? If it stops responding or crashes (SIM cards have a little CPU and operating system in them) then the phone will drop the mobile connection.
I think all you can do is try cleaning the contacts with something (Isopropyl is a good thing to use) and seeing if that improves things, otherwise try a new SIM.

I'll try getting a new SIM. It hasn't happened on my previous phone with same SIM. But as you say might have damaged SIM during swap.
It's weird it does work for a bit though. But seemingly if I lose signal it doesn't reconnect.
My voda esim behaves as you'd expect.
Someone I know on giff gaf (also 02 network) is having exactly the same issue. Wonder if it's a network thing....
Hope my phone's not knackard
Hi everyone!
I've surfed all I've found here about Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite and the bands/carrier problems here in the USA, but I can't solve my problem. Here are the facts:
I have a Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite Global Version, Android 10 updated, not flashed, not root, works perfect and I love it.
I moved to USA from Spain 1 month ago, I got a new SIM from T-Mobile and the first two days worked, but suddenly lost the connection, not only data but calls and messages.
If I change that SIM with another one, (also T-Mobile, my boyfriend bought it the same day, same plan), then it works again but after some hours not signal again.
I've been doing this SIM change over the last 2 weeks, but it is really uncomfortable, I've tried to get a pattern but it doesn't depend on the time that the SIM is on the phone (it can be operative 2 hours or 2 days) nor in the data used or in the area.
When I lost the signal, the SIM is recognized but is like I was inside a deep cave with no coverage.
There is no way to recover the signal, I've tried airplane mode, rebooting several times, reinserting SIM, port change, even changing the SIM and changing it back, but nothing.
When I have signal I get T-Mobile 4G LTE and runs smoothly.
My SIM ports are fine because both read my Spanish SIM card, and the SIMs cards work perfectly because my bf can use both.
I don't know if is a network compatibility problem, he has a POCO X3 that supports the same bands and he gets signal all the time.
I bought a new SIM card from Mint just to check if it was about the carrier, and It does not work either, even when the phone compatibility says that should work.
I'm stuck now
Any advice? Should I buy a new phone to live in the states? (I'm going to be here for a year and I'm spending so much money on moving in that I would prefer not)
Thank you in advance!
