Cm7 battery indicator problem - HTC Wildfire S

When I charged the phone it was showing 88% n after sometime I rebooted the phone and then battery indicator shows 99%
Sent from my HTC Wildfire S

Happens with most phones.
Use it for a short time then it will drop to correct percentage.
Then charge fully.

could help to clear your battery stats too.

Nope. This just out: Wiping battery stats is a pointless practice. Per the article sited in the thread,
Quoting Dianne Hackborn, Android Framework Engineer:
Deleting it is not going to do anything to make your more device more fantastic and wonderful...

So just instead of clearing battery stats, Charge it fully few times, and it will be gone

Same here.My battery lowing 1% per minute after flashing new rom

[Q] Battery stats reset every reboot

Hi,
Ever since I have cleared my battery stat using recovery to recalibrate my battery I notice now every time I reboot my phone all battery stats are automatically cleared and everything is set to 0 (Time since boot, total up time, time since unplugged).
Does anyone know why this might be happening or how to fix it?
Thanks in advance.
I believe those are supposed to reset after a reboot. I'm pretty sure mine does the same thing.

They do... and they are supposed to do that... at least mine do
So if battery stats are wiped on reboot, what's the point of having the wipe battery stats in the recovery console?

You're confusing two different things and worrying about nothing. The stats you are talking about are not the battery stats you are thinkng about.
Unless your system is jacked up, there is no reason battery stats get wiped every reboot and they shouldn't.
The stats you are thinking of are just the stats that relate to the time the phone is on.

to clarify that a little bit- the battery stats you see in android are just the battery stats since boot- what's using up the battery, etc. this should be resetting every time you boot.
now, wiping battery stats in recovery wipes the evo's memory of how it computes how much battery life you have left- for example, when you wipe the stats, for the 1st day, you may see the %left display drop from 65 to 55 in a matter of 30 minutes- that's because the evo is re-figuring out what x amount of power in your battery equates to. after a few days, the drop in %left will be much smoother.

Should I calibrate my battery?

Lately my phone will go through a massive drain until it hits around 55% then it will drain normally. I have not changed anything since this started. Any suggestions? I'm thinking I may need to calibrate my battery.

That sounds like a good idea for your situation.

Thanks for your input. I want to wait a few days before I do it. So it will give it time to see if that really is the problem. This only happened yesterday and today so maybe tomorrow will be better. Besides the only time I really have to do it is later this week.

How does one calibrate a battery? Is this the same thing as "conditioning?"

You charge your battery to 100%, wipe batterystats.bin, then run the battery down to 0%, then charge uninterrupted back up to 100%
Battery Calibration does it help ?
I have a similar situation and i followed the battery re-calibration method too but still didnt help.
Situation - The battery would charge till 88% but will show its fully charged. Recently put Vivokat so now its even more prominent. Every reboot drops the battery by steps, like i would reboot and the battery would go from 80 to 65 just like that, no gradual decline or anything. And even after a full charge (the green light indicator is on) still the battery would continue charging.
Tried - I tried resetting the batterystats.bin file as suggested, fully charged till 100% then removed batterystats.bin file then allowed to discharge all the way then charged continuously till 100%. No outcome
Anything else that can be done ?

Battery life and calibration

Hi!
I have a little question about calibration:
- After wipping battery stats, I have to do a discharge/charge cycle?
- When I made discharge/charge cycles, I have to wait 0% before charging?
I've to do this always? Or never charging at 0%? I've read it's bad for the battery...
Thanks!
I usually charge till 100% and drain it till 10-20% and charge it back up ive got decent battery life after 4 or 5 times doing this
charge your phone till current widget shows 0amp(dont rely on green LED)->switch off charge till green led is on->wipe battery stats & reboot->discharge till its 1% ->charge it till current widget shows 0amps,you are done.
this was what i had read somewhere and had worked for many
When it is necessary to calibrate, after flashing new rom? What about after new kernel?
Tia,
Sent from my HTC Desire HD
download current widget and battery calibration by damo software... put a current widget on the home screen.. when then the widget shows 0mA (dont discharge even if the battery shows 100%) once the widget shows 0mA(do not discharge) open battery calibration by damo software and delete battery thing.. i dont remember exactly.. once u delete... close the app and restart ur phone..
yes thats the way i do it too
why do i have to calibrate the battery?
I always calibrate my batterie after flashing

I always wanted to but never did
i always calibrate my battery after rom flash but i am not sure whether it really helps to improve the battery life..i do it just out of force of habit...
I really have to do it soon,to compare whether is it even worth doing it at all...

Galaxy Nexus Battery Usage - Android OS

Hi
Not all the time but every so often my battery drains really quickly. It might be at 80% at night and at 20% the next morning and if I look at the battery usage stats the OS has used the majority of the OS. If I restart the phone it will usually be ok again.
Is there anyway of finding out what part of the OS is causing the issue or how can I stop it? Its not an issue if I am able to charge the device as soon as I relaise but sometimes I have to go out and then have a practically dead phone for the day. This can also happen at other times as well but I usually just check it periodically in case the OS is using the battery a lot.
Thanks
Brian
If you have CWM - charge the phone to 100%, then wipe the battery stats. Oddly enough, it did the trick for me. I've had about 20-25% overnight drain before. Now <5%.
Also check for apps that are waking your phone with BetterBatteryStats (you need to check for partial wakelocks). Maybe some app is not draining, but just wake your phone too often so it can't deep sleep.
if your android rooted, try "One Power Guard" download from onexuan.com,It can help you extend battery life .

I can 100% guarantee that wiping battery stats in CWM had absolutely nothing to do with it. It is literally impossible, as batterystats.bin, which is the file being wiped, has zero bearing on the battery fuel gauge. Wiping battery stats has the exact same effect as, say for instance, charging the phone hanging upside down only on even-numbered dates. It also bears mentioning that the file is wiped by Android anyways when the phone is unplugged after charging, making the misguided advice to wipe it even more pointless.
Any "benefit" imagined by those who advocate wiping battery stats is a textbook example of the logical fallacy known as post hoc ergo propter hoc.

/\ post above is 100% correct. Wiping your battery stats will have absolutely no effect. It is not needed AT ALL.

[Q] Battery Callibration

How to do this ?
I've installed an app called battery calliberation. Will it work ?
Coz my battery stats do not display correct percentage.

I did it with that app long ago, after rooting and first install of custom rom. It worked.

Αfaik, there are two ways to calibrate your phone. The first one is when it's fully charged, the second one when your battery is at 0% and your phone shuts down. Both ways worked for me. I always prefer the second one. Remember to calibrate your battery each time you flash a ROM.
I've never done it with an app though.
* When your battery is at 0% and your phones shuts down, boot into recovery and wipe battery stats. (Yes, there is enough battery to do this)
* Power off your phone again and let it charge for 3hours or even more, so you know that it is fully charged.
* Then click the power button and do not remove the charger untill you have access to all of your apps.
* Remove your charger.
* Use the phone untill it shuts down again when the battery is at 0%.
* Charge it fully again and your battery is calibrated in the best way.
At least, this is how I calibrate my battery for the past two years. I hope I helped.
In my eyes calibrating the battery is a myth, as batteries get old they will eventually wear and lose charge this cannot be helped by any apps, couple that with the endless amounts of complaints with regard to batteries not fully charging to 100% on some htc wildfires which was reported months and months ago as a motherboard fault by someone.
Wiping batterystats.bin from recovery is another myth as all it does is wipe the stats you see in the battery settings menu, this is wiped automagically every single time you fully charge the phone so that once you unplug it from the charger you get an accurate reading of how fast the battery is draining, so wiping it in recovery is pointless.
The best way to get every drop of juice from a battery is to stop apps running that you don't need to be running......

You seem to know what you are talking about. You maybe be right i'll give you an example of what happened to me.After flashing a rom, the battery dropped at 99% after one day of really hard use of the device. The next day, despite the fact that I did the half use of the phone battery dropped at 40% w/o a reason. I was browsing through my homescreens and the battery was redusing by 1 or 2 percent each minute. This kept happening for the next days till I calibrated my battery. Then everything was smooth again and the battery was dropping in reasonable amounts. I can't unsee this fact. Your opinion makes sense though.
