Hello, I have a rooted stock s2 and was wondering if there is any way to make phone read a ntfs format storage instead of fat32. Thanks.

I don't know much about ntfs other than improves performance, but the memory card on the sgII is only used for media like music and other files and you can't move apps to it. Unless you want to format the internal memory which I wouldn't recommend doing.
Actually I was trying to put videos on it but the 4GB cap kinda screws for any type of hd movie files.

Ntfs is a proprietary Microsoft file type so I doubt it

What are you using your 6gb of internal storage for? Very little used so far, not using it for video or photos at all. So what are most people using it for?

I don't actually, I leave it alone. I have a 16GB SD card for everything I need.
Pretty much not using it at the moment. Hoping that 2.3 will change that though.
i use it for my camera to save to. thats it.
I use it for all my music. Which is about 4Gb. I have one or two videos on it as well.

I have a few things that I use the internal storage for:
Apps.
Image Icons for Desktop Visualizer and LauncherPro.
Movies.
Everything else goes on the 16GB SD card.
Mine is mostly filled with MP3s.
Thanks

There's an app in the market called GL to SD (root). Based on the reviews it appears to work fine.

Works great. Just remember to unmount it when you are done. If not you are going to have apps storing to the external SD. BTW requires root.
i found this very helpful, i was looking for something like this, i have a 32 gb card and i don't really want the big downloads of gameloft to go on phones storage. exactly what i was looking for thanks
I just installed cm9 and my sd card is mounted but showing 16 gb available on the card out of 16 when I know it's atleast 14 gb full with Music and games.. How do I bring it back to show as an external sd properly like in gingerbread.. Thank you
You can't... you will have to access external through system/emmc.. hope this answered your question...

Deleted....
OK not as bad but the games I have downloaded and have game files on the sd, well the game itself from back up doesn't recognize it being any files, so how would I reroute it over

You would have to wait for a fix... unfortunately there is none at the moment on CM9... I believe the latest calk rom has the ability to do so if you don't mind touchwiz ...

So I have a 64gb card and I rather not format as FAT32 due to the 4gb max limitation (my movie rips tend to be a lot larger than 4gb). Is there anything for CWM that I would need an external memory card for? Installing custom ROMs perhaps?
No. You can use your intrrnal for that

It is very strange that I can not make any media player play media files that stores on external SD card. I tried XBMC and stock music player and mobo player and found none of them can.....any suggestions?

Is your external SD card accessible for anything else? You didn't format it to NTFS, did you?
If all failes, check out the Jet audio music player from the play store and abandon the stock player.
I'm an avid music listener and found it the best player all-round...use the plus version now!
(I have tried a lot of them)
All my music and videos are stored on sd card I don't hav to make any changes to it shows by default in my stock player.

Reformat it again, in a PC. Use ExFAT.
any chance you may have a hidden file called .nomedia or folders starting with a period on your memory card?
folders starting with a period are hidden, and any folder containing a file named .nomedia is skipped when looking for media.
if you only just added those files to your memory card you might need to manually run the media scanner.

You need not have formatted the External SD Card....
Just go to Settings>Storage and click on Unmount SD card and then click on Mount SD card again.
No need to format...not need to take out SD card.
Quick and easy.....
