Is there a version of the LG Nitro that comes factory unlocked (not software unlocked)? This ebay seller: link claims that the LG Nitro he/she is selling is factory unlocked and "you can always update it and it will never lock up". If so, why is there an AT&T branding on it?
Those software unlocked ones like the rest on ebay, do they lock up again and lose root access when updated (say, to ICS)?
I believe what your seller means is that it is carrier unlocked. That really doesn't add value to the phone the way it would to, say, an iphone, though. I unlocked my nitro for less than $3.

I used this guy from Ebay:
Unlock code
Less then 3 bucks and within an hour had an unlock code! Worked like a charm! =)
Just wanted to mention that regardless of your unlocking experience, once you flash your baseband/system partitions, there is a high probability it will lock it again. Beware!! keep your unlock code handy if you do.
I didn't have a problem when I restored my phone. Obviously, I had to flash my baseband when that happened, so it appears to persist. I'd keep my unlock code around regardless, though lol

I'm guessing it's safe to say that this should not be considered as Unlocking the Bootloader, correct? I hope people don't confuse this with Unlocking the bootloader.
No need, our bootloader is not locked

Wait, really?! I've been trying to figure out how we came to dat conclusion though?
Our bootloader is 100% beyond the shadow of a doubt unlocked. This was proven by Bytecode and his success with booting to an unsigned recovery partition AKA his CWM port.

Alejandrissimo is legit and he runs that site your referring to. (I got my bootloader unlocked from that site) Did you pay paypal already? Otherwise Alejandrissimo is attending to his clients that already paid and he is a very busy person and very difficullt to get a hold of. And I waited 2 days to get my bootloader unlocked and please be aware there is a waitlist.
I just got mine unlocked last night. Glad I did. Best choice I've made for this phone. He is patient and answered all my questions before we got started.

People have gotten their codes, but dunno if it works or not yet. I just submitted my IMEI. Let's hope it works!
They are legit. I got a free unlock code from them during a similar promotion a few years back.

Does anybody know if unlocking the phone would somehow interfere with the root/bootloader unlock methods that are found here? I haven't done that yet, but plan to in the near future.
Thanks.

Second question; are there any benefits for me to do this on a Sprint phone?

You can use the phone on another carrier that uses the same bands as Sprint. Although I am not going to change carriers, I did it anyways since it might come in handy due to some unforeseeable event
mine has been locked
They never emailed me a code. -1

I got my code after 3 days and it went into spam so I never found it until today. Unlocked using method 2 so I'm not sure if it worked or not as I don't have another sim to try Lol.

mine was in spam too. weird
Got mine... It was also filtered as spam by Gmail...
Got mine. After I entered it, it said network unlocked, reboot, and now I have got the LG security error. I just spent two weeks customising to my liking Oh well, since I started messing with my Galaxy S, I have gotten used to redoing things. Only problem is that I dont seem to have my Titanium backups on my PC anymore, must have moved instead of copied. That is the real suck. I didnt think this could happen from an unlock code, so I wasnt prepared when I entered it at work.
Sim unlocked my LG Optimus G! Lol procrastination but whatever!
So I purchased my Ion Lt28i from Wind the other day, and when I looked into the phone I found it to be "not unlockable" for the bootloader. Sonys site says otherwise.....
Any suggestions? It is the I version, not sure what i'm missing here....
Thanks in advance!
Just dial *#*#7378423#*#*, go to service info and then open configuration, if it says something about bootloader unlocking: yes then you can do it, if it says no then is not possible.
so.....maybe you misread my post, but i have already done that. Sonys site is showing that my model CAN in fact get a key, but you can't implement it without being able to get into fastboot....
Sony says it can, phone says it can't. Any other suggestions guys?
That's because its carrier locked. Carriers don't allow you to get into fastboot, and the ones Sony talks about are the sim free ones. So only stock for you, I'm afraid.

Well, if they are unlocking it, then yeah. But that would probably cost you the entire phone cost, at least from what I've heard.

Well mate, here in Britain we have O2 ****ers, that are not going to unlock your bootloader until your warranty is out,and when it's out,you will have to pay for changing bootloader status.Isn't that beautiful... (sarcasm)

Any word on this? I hate to keep asking, but I guess I'm overly hopeful at this happening sometime sooner than later
Imagine......you can't Rom your phone besides MIUI.
Its.....frankly really irritating, I love trying out all the cool sh*t people come u with for Roms, and I'm not "allowed to" because my carrier says so.....
Doesn't make much sense.

There's a petition going on over in the General section I think. I honestly don't think they're gonna listen, but its worth a try.
I'm happy we have only non branded phones here.

Title
The variants of the phones Lt28i, Lt28h, Lt28at... are not just in the software. The Lt28i was specifically created by Sony for the use of network operators (I presume the boot loader exists on a physically separate partition, which would make sense since bios of motherboards are constructed in the same way).
If the boot loader was unlocked and Rogers fully simlocked phone so that no cellunlocker could help you, you could still wipe the phone and undo all the locking (afterwards terminate Roger's contract and run away with the 400 dollar phone). I think that even the network operators do not have access to the Lt28i bootloader.
However, with the Lt28i:
You can unlock the network, even if hardlocked.
You can flash and root Lt28h firmware on to it.
but you can never rape that sweet, sweet virgin boot loader goodness ...it will remain unmolested through the life and death of the phone.
(unless you get someone like a Sony developer to help you out)
Disclaimer: I haven't the slightest idea of what I am talking about, so don't ask me anything.
Hi I just bought an S3 from someone. However the android version is 4.1.9... I dont think its rooted either. Is it a fake? I hope not... Or is there any other way to tell?

Damn Got scammed. Is there a way to root this and unlock it, like this version? If so, can you link me?
How do I unlock it
forget unlocking. i'd be contacting the seller...
Its a fake phone man , contact the seller and demand a refund. Unlocking it and stuff is impossible as these Chinese phones have no development at all , try finding a phone with similar hardware z maybe that will help. .
ah right, I have seen methods to unlock these phones though. I have a giffgaff (O2) sim and it doesnt pick up any bars, I tried my EE sim and it picked it up. I dont think my phone is unlocked, is there a way to unlock it. Iv heard of SRSRoot is that the correct method?

Rooting and unlocking are two different things SRSRoot will probably root it but it won't unlock it.

Get your money back, if you paid with paypal contact the seller first and if he refuses do a charge back. Knock off phone's hardware is almost always terrible, which is why the price is so low. Even if you manage to root and install a custom ROM it will never be the same experience as having the actual S3 :\. Sorry to hear all this man.

Hi, I have the international version H815 and I want to unlock the bootloader.
Ok so my question is if you had or you have a h815 would you unlock it even if you will loose your warrenty?
I'm asking because I really want root but no sure if I'm ok with warrenty void so I wanted your opinion

First off almost everyone wants to unlock the bootloader on these forums. Now, you can only unlock you bootloader if you have a Eastern Europian phone.
Rooting versus warranty depends on you, no-one can make that desion for you. It all depends on what you want to do with the phone.
Ive always rooted my phones and never had to send any back for warranty.. Ussually change to the next new phone that comes out before the warranty even expires... But, I guess that's just me..

Yes, it's expensive to keep up with new technology. Hopefully the bootloader will be allowed to be unlocked by LG. Or, one of the many talented devs get it first.

Man, You don't know how many people wish to be in your position just to unlock it in front of the UPS guy. However, as you say, you're doing fine with it locked. Considering that, I would wait a few weeks or a moth or even 2 just to make sure that no hardware fault or unfixable issues are present or about to happen. Again, I would unlock it and root it right away.
I'm in the same situation as you, but I live in the United States. I bought the H815 of eBay so does the warranty even apply to me?

LG in the states will not service a international phone purcased thru 3rd party resellers, unless its a carrier branded phone from T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon etc.
