Nope, only thing wht I stopped using it. Try K9 mail. If you have Hotmail, write down the port settings from the stock app, as other e-mail apps can't detect the port settings automatically, or pm me for the port numbers.

I use exchange for my googlemail as it allows reply where as the normal gmail application doesnt .. i have googlemail unticked in the syn settings but when i get an email the email goes into both the exchange folder which i have on my home screen and also gmail folder which is in the menu
i only have googlemail auto sync on calendar and contacts so i cant understand why the emails come through on both any idea's ??

chris
Thats weird, I have tha same settings like you (google set to exchange, google mail sync turned off) and I get mail only to htc mail application.
think ive managed to stop it but cant understand why .. ive disabled pop and imap forwarding on my googlemail settings (through website) I now just get email through my exchange ? very strange but at least sorted

OT, but what do you mean by "allows reply"?
Regards,

Hi Dave
If someone sends me an email and I want to reply back I cant find any reply button on the googlemail email system ... unless of course im missing it !
the only way that I have got around this is to set up via exchange which has a reply / reply all and forward button
I would prefer to use just one system ie googlemail as my contacts and calendar sync through this but without the reply button its useless
if the facility is there how do you do it ???
thanks chris
I thought that was what you meant, but it seemed odd to me because the Gmail client is fully featured.
However, it's not a button per se - scroll down to the end of an email, and you'll see three clickable links:

Dave
Doo what dime bar I am thanks Dave now back on googlemail app !

You don't have an icon that's the white folder with a yellow thing sticking out? Can you set a widget for the email application (essentially getting at if the app is somehow uninstalled)?

I can find the email app (White folder with yellow as you say) if I search the phone, and it works fine. But I have no icon for it anywhere so I cannot access it without searching the phone. Very weird.
Edit: Being a muppet here and hadn't found the app page! I am coming from an iphone so go easy on me, lol. Although now I have another problem it seems. When I use the sync button, any emails in my in box disappear.
I've set-up my Hotmail. When I receive an email it doesn't push it to my handset immediately. I've had a look in the settings but I don't understand what I need to change to that the emails are pushed as soon as they're received.
Please can anyone help?

Are you using the Hotmail app or the default Mail app?

Use the Hotmail app instead then, this support push notifications.
I use and would recommend "Touch down for smart phones" it is almost instant push notifications and seems to work very well i have been using it for 18 months now. The other option is to set up your hotmail to forward masks to your gmail account, this also works well.

Thanks for the replies. I will take a look at the other options you suggested although I would prefer to use the default app. I'm not keen on the Hotmail app.
Scotty mate, i had the same problem, the Hotmail app sorts it, and now I prefer it to the stock mail app.

I'll try it out for a bit, see how it goes.
In order to get true push email + IMAP for HOTMAIL use this settings:
Incoming settings:
Enter your email account and password Do no hit next, instead click Manual Setup Chose Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync
In the Domain\Username field: delete everything and enter your email address In the Server field: enter m.hotmail.com Keep the box ticked for 'Use secure connection (SSL)' and keep the box unticked for 'Accept all SSL certificates'
Should do it.

Yes that worked a treat. Cheers mate!
I set-up my push email (hotmail) with the settings mentioned earlier in the thread. I thought it was working because I was receiving my mail. The thing is, I only get my emails when I click 'refresh' in the app. I sent myself an email from the PC and it wasn't pushed to the phone. Not sure were I'm going wrong. In the settings I have 'push mail' selected on peak & off peak. I have the data connection on. Does anyone have any idea what I need to change in the settings?
Anyone?
Using the email app or the Hotmail account in Account & Sync?
The email app wouldn't update for me either, and i've read a few posts from people with the same problem.
I just use the Hotmail Account to auto sync

Thanks for the reply. I managed to sort it out (with help from wnp_79). I downloaded the stock Android app and set up my account. The emails are pushed to the handset now.
Nae bother. So you can download the stock app from the Market? I'm guessing its just called Mail? It would be better to have that working than Mail and Hotmail both trying to sync, for battery life.
No the app is not on the market.
Here is the application.
Guide on how to set-up Hotmail manually on it. (Just in case)
Hope this helps.
Cheers dude
I get my work emails through the stock email app.
All I want is the inbox as standard, but every so often it returns to all messages.
Is there any way to stop this please?
Cheers

Did you ever get any answer for this?.
It's so annoying , to delete an unread email in the 'inbox', only for it to reappear as an unread email in the 'all messages' view.
I didn't, but I haven't had the problem for a while.
Maybe an update sorted it out.

How do I setup an email account (that supports it, like outlook.com) as push instead of "sync every xx minutes" ?
I just got the GPro today and am setting everything up, however I've been unable to see a way to create an outlook, com email account
and have it push.

Have you tried just using the Outlook.com App for this which has Push Notifications?
calmly ntsNuro
I've tried several times.
Outlook.com just keeps saying "Outlook has stopped" when I try to setup an account.
When I get to the permissions screen and press "OK" to accept is when I get that message.
Any idea ?
Thanks,
Fred

Have you tried to clear the App Cache and Data from the App Manager then try to add an account again? I can say that it does work once the Outlook app is setup. I get my new emails as they arrive.

Yup, no change.
The stupid stock android email app allows me to set that up as an exchange account with "push" however I have to physically open the app to get notifications of new emails and actually get the email !! What good is that. I have to open the app up ever 15 mins or whenever I want to see if I have new email
Arrrggggg
Coming from the Blackberry line trying to move to Andriod but soooo crazy.
Blackberry is a snap to set email up on.
Android is making it as difficult as possible
Fred
EDIT :
The stock app appears to work now, with push, after a phone reboot.
Reminds me Microsoft stuff lol
