Galaxy S2 Cases - SGP Neo Hybrid vs Case-Mate Pop! - Galaxy S II Accessories

What you guys are saying?
What whould you take?
SGP Neo Hybrid vs Case-Mate Pop! ?
Thanks in advanced..
Din.

Currently have both. I use the SGP Neo Hybrid EX daily. The case-mate pop is way too bulky for my liking.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk

there's nothing to compare them,
the pop is very big, makes the phone twice its size.
it seems to protect rather well, and has the flip stand on its back
on the other hand, the sgp is very slim, keeps the phone's shape and doesnt make it any much thicker
I have both, but theres no way i'll change the sgp for my CM pop, i just cant get my phone in the pocket with it..

Yes. Neo Hybrid is much better.
Was thinking it maybe, i like the silke but seems a bit too slippy! Im guessing the neo hybrid wil cure this a bit with the plastic outing
I have both, Ultra Silke is full silicon case and it grips better than the Neo Hybrids. Look wise, I love my Neo Hybrids in Black!
Yeah, i like the Silke, but it feels a little too smooth sometimes.
Just ordered the Neo Hybrid, like the look o it.
Will see what i think when ive tried em both!
Have the hybrid and it looks just great. The grip is not as good as the Silke though, the silicone part of the hybrid is exactly the same as silke.
I have the silke on my iPod btw. But nothing beats the look of the Hybrid.
I like the silke but it gives the phone a really dull look!
The hybrid tempted me with the extra plastic bit, makes ti look a little more elegant
Tempted to keep both though, use one as backup etc. Although, will have cost me about £35 for the pair! :/
I'm going with the silke. The neo hybrid looks hot but is it true that the matte wears away and the top lip is a bit loose (gap)?

Yes the top lip is a little bit loose, perhaps by 0.5mm? But no i have not experienced the matte wearing away.
About the fit of the case, pieces of paper can solve the problem.
Yeah, or a bit of bluetack could sort it, im guessing?
The neo hybrid is great, the plastic bumper bit could do with being a bit tighter, but it's a great case.
Doesn't feel as solid as the case mate touch case, but the case mates silicon inner case flaps at the top and the bottem where the hard plastic outer part doesn't hold it in.

wouldn't the part of the neohybrid's plastic that gets in contact in surfaces when u place the phone face up eventually erode?
watch my video here;
can some mod make a sticky and put all the user reviews about the cases in one place?

Walnutt-like bumper without antenna cutout?

Good evening, dear forum readers!
I'm looking for a bumper case for my Galaxy S2, similar to that of the iPhone. (without covering the back) I know the Walnutt cases, which really looking great, but the antenna cutout is bothering me... I just think it is really unnecessary. So I was looking for a bumper case without that cutout, I searched eBay for this and only found fake walnutt-like cases. (Does anybody have experience with those cases, what quality do they have?) Do you know a seller who offers bumper cases without an antenna cutout?
Thanks for your help in advance!
Maybe go for the SGP Neo Hybrid EX. That is pretty minimal.
I have the Walnutt bumper case in 2 black and its awesome. I swapped to it from Neo Hybrid.
The cutout doesn't bother me at all ;-)

I strongly recommend the OP not to buy the SGP Neo Hybrid EX, I´ve had it for a month and half and the silicone is already loosde due to the heat.
I might get one of those TAURUS bumpers, I like more the Akiba ones but they are so expensive
I've considered both SGP Neo Hybrid EX and the Walnutt bumper, and I like the Walnutt ones more because of the colour combination and the Walnutt-tag. But I tend to drop my phones a lot, guess I'm a "bit" clumsy. I'm afraid that the upper right cutout will leave that corner unprotected. Maybe a full-silicone-case would be a better solution for me?

Eh? How does the EX become loose from heat? I thought only the regular neo hybrid was plagued by that.

Very good, quite tight. Much better fit than the neo hybrid.

Video Review: SGP Neo Hybrid for Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hey guys,
Got my hands on the Neo Hybrid from SGP, this is a 2-piece hybrid style case that is unique from others as it features a plastic bumper instead of a shell. This allows for a much thinner overall form factor and different look. This is one sleek and stylish case! Although it doesn't provide much protection, it is a pleasure to use and surely to attract some looks! You can check it out completely in the video below;
not a fan of the case but good review
not a bad case, wouldn't mind adding it to my collection of auxiliary cases. where can it be purchased?

Thanks! You can buy it at http://www.sgpstore.com
Not the most protective but the only case that keeps the beautiful shape of the galaxy nexus. I would dare say it makes it look better. Don't know how they came up with it but its amazing. Someone noted that the silicone can sag after a bit but I don't think it will be as big of a problem with the design of it for this case. The rim will be snug... only chance of sagging could be the camera hole in the back.
My only regret after getting the matte silver is not also getting the black and reventon yellow as well!

It most definitely is! As I stated, it is aimed at quality and style over protection
Just went to the site and the only one I see is the Ultra Hybrid and an Ultra capsule. Wonder if they sold out or something. Anyone know the difference between the Neo and the Ultra Hybrid??

I just noticed that, weird. With regards to the Neo and Ultra Hybrids, the Neo Hybrid has a silicone inner layer and a polycarbonate bumper (comes in 2 pieces). Whereas the Ultra Hybrid has a TPU rim with a polycarbonate backing and is a 1 piece case.

[Poll] Which case is better?

Hi guys,
I am looking for a case for a new Galaxy Nexus I bought..
I would like to request answers with advantages and disadvantages for the following cases:
* SGP Ultra Hybrid
* SGP Neo Hybrid
* Diztronic Matte Back Black / Smoke
I must say - I am working in a really rough place - this is why I need a slim and yet really though case
And I currently own a Galaxy S2 with SGP Neo Hybrid case - and I was pretty impressed by its greatness of protecting my phone
But I would like to acquire a case that is a one piece and not two pieces
BTW - please vote on my poll
Thanks in advanced,
Din.
I have the diztronic case and I can say that it does a good job of protecting the phone while still feeling slim in the hand. I can't speak for the SGP as I've never tried one.
I recommend either the ultra hybrid or ultra capsule. They're light , durable, and stylish. Had them both
Sent from my GNex
Diztronic case here also. Great slim case for the price. Nice fit also even with 2000mah extended battery.

Thanks for the comments so far,
One thing I didn't mention - the price isn't my concern..
Please - more comments..

The ultra hybrid or ultra capsule cases...anybody have a link I never hear of those??
here - ultra hybrid:
http://www.spigen.com/cell-phone/google/sgp-samsung-galaxy-nexus-case-ultra-hybrid-series.html
you can find the others in their website
I'm using a cruzerlite right now and love it. The colors they provide, the protection you get, and the soft case that doesn't make it that much bulkier. The only thing is that it's been pushing up on my screen protector..

thank you..looks good..i,m really liking the Mercury tpu cases..waiting for my yelow one to arrive
the diztronic has more lip on it so I would go that route for slightly better protection. the mercury TPU cases are also really nice but they only fit the GSM variants.
I have the Dizitronic case as well. I have some others that I use but that is my primary one. Provides a decent amount of protection and doesn't add much bulk - I like the lip on it as well because I can set the phone down on its face without any concern.
If you want something that is more 'tough' might want to check out the Incipio Silicrylic cases as well. Dual layer so will probably handle a drop better than these TPU style cases. I use that for days when I am being active (running, hiking, etc).

Yup..i know,thats what I have..GSM..the Future :]
i have the Ultra hybrid and while it doesnt provide that much protection you arent going to find a thin case that offers any true protection, If you want a protective case i would go with the Kraken or Otterbox or something of the like. Otherwise the fit and design of the Ultra Hybrid is absolutely perfect if you have a GSM phone it provides good protection for cosmetic damage and has a small lip which provides some level of protection when you place the phone screen side down.
the Ultrahybrid also does not attract lint nor does it stick in your pocket like some other TPU/silicon cases. I personally recommend the ultrahybrid if you are going for a minimalist case.
The Neohybrid is one i would definitely stay away from especially if you use multiple batteries and need to pull the phone out of the case alot. Over time the silicon sleeve will become loose and just wont fit your phone nice and snug as it had before.
hope this helps.
- Cheers
I have neo hybrid and kraken. Kraken is like wearing a suit of armor. Its huge and heavy but a great case. I have the neo on it now and love it. Light, grips well and looks nice.

[Q] Best case?

I bought the Nexus 5 and it's amazing. I've already got a screen protector but now I'm still looking for the right case. My first choice was the official bumper case but that isn't an option anymore because it isn't only unavailable at the moment, but most of the people also say it starts to peel off very quickly. So I kept looking for a case that could satisfy my needs. I want to have a good-looking case that delivers the protection the N5 needs, but doesn't add too much bulk so it wouldn't look like some kind of dragon. I also want to mention that I'm not looking for any kind of flip cover because a phone is a phone and not a book.
So after some research I've come down to 2 cases that both give a good impression. Spigen Case Slim Armor and Spigen Case Neo Hybrid. They both have a fairly good reputation so I really can't decide which one to get. I also don't really know the difference. I guess they are the same in thickness. The Slim Armor one probably has better protection and from what I've read isn't as slippery as the Neo Hybrid one, but that case probably also has nice features.
Which one should I get? Or are there better cases available? Thanks in advance!

I have bought like a whole load of cases and found that my favorite case is a simple TPU case like Distronic's cases (I like the black one, the white/clear/frosted design gets discolored over time) they don't make the phone overly bulky, provide pretty good drop protection and are pretty cheap. I have owned Spigen's slim armor and the slim armor with the flip cover and while they are great cases they made the phone a little more chunky than I liked.

Also came here to recommend the Diztronic TPU... I have the black one and its my favorite. Have tried quite a few cases as well, although never had a spigen

+1 for diztronic
It adds fairly good protection but less bulk than most cases(not counting hard shells). Buttons are easy to press and it looks and feels good. It's cheap too!
I've also had spigen neo hybrid but found it too bulky and slippery. Buttons and looks were nice tho.
Btw clear diztronic is out of stock and they dont sell it anymore.
I'd stay away from hard cases such as the ringke slim or spigen hard crystal shell as they scratched up my phone
+1 for soft
Go with the slim armor. One of the best cases I've had, and I've had A LOT of cases. Its a lot more comfortable to hold over the neo hybrid.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
My favorite case by far is the Magpul Field. https://store.magpul.com/product/MAG474/cases
Magpul looks awesome dude. Not those clear backs. My ringke got scratched up real bad. Neo hybrid looks decent, in fact I'm getting it. Considering a diztronic as well. I-blason is decent too.
I haven't got the specific Spigen cases you're interested in but I do have the Spigen ultra fit and ultra hybrid. I have been using both cases for the past year (the ultra fit mostly because it doesn't add as much bulk as the ultra hybrid) and both are very good cases that I like. However, I recently ordered the Diztronic case and I'm waiting for it to arrive. The reason is I recently used my previous phone with a Diztronic case and it reminded me that I generally prefer good quality TPU cases more. So I decided I may as well get a Diztronic case for my Nexus 5. As you may see, I agree with the others in recommending the Diztronic case.
I have the Spigen Case Slim Armor, a Tech21 case, and a TPU case, I prefer the Tech21, as a matter of fact I dropped my phone just the other day, and it landed flat on it's back, I thought for sure the screen would be shattered, but nope, all is well.
The Tech21 seems to have more of an "Air cushion" between the case and back of the phone.

Well, I have a pretty cheap one at the moment, this one (it's indeed not a very pretty one). The case barely adds any bulk but it doesn't give the safest feeling. I'm protected for any scratches but I don't think these kind of cases absorb impact very well, so I'll probably still go for something chunkier but then I'll at least know I'm pretty safe.

From what I've read the Neo Hybrid is a bit overrated and doesn't feel very good in the hand. So yeah, I'll probably get the Slim Armor one.

These cases are probably really well-made but I don't think they protect that good if you compare it to the bulkier cases, definitely not against drops.

My favorite case after trying out several:
Bugdroid by Cruzerlite

I love them too. Very good feel in hand. I don't know it until I bought one. I know the Official one now unavailable but still we have a lots high quality one in eBay. Not OEM, but still very good (even similar if you ask me)
I'm using spigen case
i get it for free from Nexus gift pack
It's nice, and it feels like the original back of nexus
Had both the Neo Hybrid and the Slim Armor and prefer the Neo Hybrid.
I found that in comparison to the Neo Hybrid, the Slim Armor added too much bulk to the phone. The back of the NH feels better (rubber, a bit like the original back of the phone) while the back of the SA is more slippery (metal). The buttons on the SA required too much force to press and you don't really feel any feedback while pressing.
The only reason I would choose the SA over the NH is for the extra protection, but for me the NH offers more than enough protection (dropped it a few of times indoor and outdoor, only some minor scruffs on the corners of the case).
Didn't Spigen used to sell just the outer band for the neo hybrid? That way you can have a few different colors if you like
