Hi guys,
I am looking for a case for a new Galaxy Nexus I bought..
I would like to request answers with advantages and disadvantages for the following cases:
* SGP Ultra Hybrid
* SGP Neo Hybrid
* Diztronic Matte Back Black / Smoke
I must say - I am working in a really rough place - this is why I need a slim and yet really though case
And I currently own a Galaxy S2 with SGP Neo Hybrid case - and I was pretty impressed by its greatness of protecting my phone
But I would like to acquire a case that is a one piece and not two pieces
BTW - please vote on my poll
Thanks in advanced,
Din.
I have the diztronic case and I can say that it does a good job of protecting the phone while still feeling slim in the hand. I can't speak for the SGP as I've never tried one.
I recommend either the ultra hybrid or ultra capsule. They're light , durable, and stylish. Had them both
Sent from my GNex
Diztronic case here also. Great slim case for the price. Nice fit also even with 2000mah extended battery.

Thanks for the comments so far,
One thing I didn't mention - the price isn't my concern..
Please - more comments..

The ultra hybrid or ultra capsule cases...anybody have a link I never hear of those??
here - ultra hybrid:
http://www.spigen.com/cell-phone/google/sgp-samsung-galaxy-nexus-case-ultra-hybrid-series.html
you can find the others in their website
I'm using a cruzerlite right now and love it. The colors they provide, the protection you get, and the soft case that doesn't make it that much bulkier. The only thing is that it's been pushing up on my screen protector..

thank you..looks good..i,m really liking the Mercury tpu cases..waiting for my yelow one to arrive
the diztronic has more lip on it so I would go that route for slightly better protection. the mercury TPU cases are also really nice but they only fit the GSM variants.
I have the Dizitronic case as well. I have some others that I use but that is my primary one. Provides a decent amount of protection and doesn't add much bulk - I like the lip on it as well because I can set the phone down on its face without any concern.
If you want something that is more 'tough' might want to check out the Incipio Silicrylic cases as well. Dual layer so will probably handle a drop better than these TPU style cases. I use that for days when I am being active (running, hiking, etc).

Yup..i know,thats what I have..GSM..the Future :]
i have the Ultra hybrid and while it doesnt provide that much protection you arent going to find a thin case that offers any true protection, If you want a protective case i would go with the Kraken or Otterbox or something of the like. Otherwise the fit and design of the Ultra Hybrid is absolutely perfect if you have a GSM phone it provides good protection for cosmetic damage and has a small lip which provides some level of protection when you place the phone screen side down.
the Ultrahybrid also does not attract lint nor does it stick in your pocket like some other TPU/silicon cases. I personally recommend the ultrahybrid if you are going for a minimalist case.
The Neohybrid is one i would definitely stay away from especially if you use multiple batteries and need to pull the phone out of the case alot. Over time the silicon sleeve will become loose and just wont fit your phone nice and snug as it had before.
hope this helps.
- Cheers
I have neo hybrid and kraken. Kraken is like wearing a suit of armor. Its huge and heavy but a great case. I have the neo on it now and love it. Light, grips well and looks nice.

I dont usually buy on ebay so i cant help much there. But i can tell you all the cases ive tried.
Otterbox Defender - did not fit well so i did not purchase at the store. Screen protector is lousy. Phone rattled in case.
Casemate Toughcase - again did not fit my gsm nexus well. Gaps in silicone and i do not like the larger than necessary gap between the usb and headphone plugs. Also was a dust magnet. Should have learned my lesson with the first toughcase i tried for my galaxy s.
Diztronic TPU - have two of these. Rev 1 both in matte black and matte smoke. Great cases except the volume rocker section but Rev 3 should address that. I recommend.
Rearth Ringke Slim - currently using this case. Color i have is matte black and it is a great case.
Case Mate POP! It is not too bulky, offers good protection, good grip without attracting lint. Fits the extended battery perfectly.

I have the casemate pop and Love it, but I need to use my ebay bucks so I figured why not get another case.
Had 3 cases for my Nexus as my review for them are as follows:
Case-Mate Barely There - Price was too high considering the kind of case you were getting. As it's known for, it provides very little protection but was also very slim. I would have less issue with it if it covered the top and bottom of the phones fully but it oddly didn't. With it on, it looked more like a shell instead of a case. I would not recommend this as it seems like you are paying for brand name here. Might as well get a full body protector from Zagg or Ghost Armor instead of this IMO.
Otterbox Commuter - This was a good case. If you are looking for something that will protect your phone without being extreme (like using the Defender) then this is perfect. Adds bulk for protection but also looks great as well. Best of both worlds and recommended for those that want above average protection while not needing it to look like a beast. Fairly difficult to take off so don't get it if you get into opening up your phone a lot.
Diztronic TPU Matte Smoke Grey - This was the best of the bunch for me. Price wise, it can't be beat at $10.00 with a workable screen protector. Looks wise, smoke grey is beautiful on the Nexus as it looks natural (Nexus is grey to begin with). It adds only a little bulk so it doesn't look like a case swallowed your phone. Feel wise, matte is definitely the way to go. I've had glossy cases before and it always left grime, oil, and fingerprints. Matte feels and looks very clean and provides a little grip. Protection wise, I'd say it provides average protection. I've always used TPU cases and they can take drops from normal heights. TPU is fine for my rather un-extreme lifestyle. Finally, Diztronic's customer service is top notch. Had an issue with the volume keys and they are sending me out a replacement case with the keys cut out. No need to return the old one. Would definitely buy from them again because of that as I have high confidence that they can rectify any issues.
So there you have my mini-reviews. It is obvious that I favor Diztronic as they seem to hit the sweet spot for my preferences. Best of all words in all the things that are important to me.
Hope you guys find a case that works well for you too.

I don't know if they have one for nexus but case-mate barely there series of cases are cool because they are the thinnest but are still shatter proof. I have never liked adding bulk to my phone with a case so it works for me.

They may be shatter proof, but they only protect the better cover and rear sides of the phone. It's a half-solution at best. Waiting on Rearth and will report back.

Case-Mate Tough Case: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1420043 they're working on it.
I had bought a Case Mate Tough skin case for my phone, and it's had a lot of issues with the power button fit, it would turn off and on by touching the area anywhere near it. I looked around case-mate.com and noticed this case is not on their website, so I contacted Case Mate and they say it's a known issue, and are going to ship me a new one when they come in sometime during in the next 2-4 weeks.. Good customer relations.

Ghost Armor...
No added bulk, adds just enough extra grip, protects from scuffing/scratching. Obviously, not gonna give the same shock protection in a fall.. but then I've seen guys with TPU cases drop the phone and shatter a screen. (with gorilla glass)

Just got my Seidio Active today. As with all Seidio cases, it is awesome. I had the Incipio double case from Verizon, which is a similar concept. But the Active is a lot smoother and looks way better. Great amount of protection, minimal bulk. I actually prefer the way it feels with the case on compared to bare. It gives a nice feeling to the volume/power buttons.
As a bonus, I got the Royal Blue one, and the color perfectly matches the blue theme of ICS. I highly recommend it. There is also a version with a kickstand, too. Here is a link to what I got.
http://www.seidioonline.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=CSK3SSGNL-RB
I'm a bit of a Seidio fanboy, as all of my devices have Active cases on them. But you can't really beat the protection and style. No huge logos, and the color of the hard shell really gives it a nice look. Dropping the phone with the case on barely does anything to the case, let alone the phone.

I have the kickstand-ed version and I must agree that it is a really well designed enclosure system. Works really well with the extended battery/cover. My previous Seidio case was the Active Extended for the Thunderbolt and that setup was the main reason why I decided on Seidio.
This is my favorite case and its probably the best value.
http://www.myincipio.com/Samsung-Ga...CRYLIC-Hard-Shell-Case-with-Silicone-Core.asp
It features 3 layers including the screen protector and doesn't make the phone huge, yet keeps the phone well protected. $29.99 and I couldn't be happier.

Hi guys, I just got my GNex a couple of days ago, and coming from an SE X10, I feel like the X10 is a toy. I was browsing through eBay earlier and found two very similar cases, the SGP Neo Hybrid and SGP Ultra Hybrid (NOT Ultra Capsule!). These cases are very very similar, and like the name suggests, are both hybrid cases. The only difference I can spot from pictures are the colors available and the material finish. The Ultra Hybrid seems to have a more matte finish, which I generally prefer than the Glossy high quality look (but would wear off soon) of the Neo Hybrid series. The Ultra Hybrid is also about $5 cheaper, so I would be more inclined to getting this one. I'm wondering if anyone has tried both cases out and did a comparison, cuz if I have heard great things about the Neo Hybrid but can't really find anything on the Ultra Hybrid at all. Any suggestions??
Here are the eBay links:
Neo Hybrid: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Google-Samsu...ccessories&hash=item4ab30bf76f#ht_5140wt_1110
Ultra Hybrid: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Google-Samsu...ccessories&hash=item33714e1892#ht_5934wt_1110
I just ordered the Ultra Hybrid from Amazon, from the pictures i also think that other than the different colors, the only thing diferent between the two models is that the polycarbonate frame is matte on the Ultra and glossy on the Neo... Well, i guess that soon ill find out.
i dont think so, the ultra capsule a single tpu layer and the neo hybrid is a silicone layer with a polycarbonate layer

You're confusing the Ultra Capsule and the Ultra Hybrid.
From SGP's website:
http://www.spigen.com/cell-phone/google/galaxy-nexus/sgp-samsung-galaxy-nexus-case-ultra-hybrid-series.html said:
SGP Ultra Hybrid Case is combination of a Poly-Carbonate hard case and a Poly-Urethane soft cover. The soft Poly-Urethane is designed to protect the Galaxy Nexus from scratches and the hard Poly-Carbonate frame prevents dirt and dust from entering the case as well as protects your phone from damage.
The Ultra Hybrid Case for the Galaxy Nexus features a slim and simplistic design for easy installation and removal. In addition, the Poly-Urethane frame is slightly higher than the device's screen so that when placed face down, the LCD does not come in contact with the surface.

Let us know what the actual case is like! ...from what I understand from the other Ultra Hybrid case videos, its a one piece case so you snap the phone on, rather than a two piece case of the Neo Hybrid. But I can't confirm this either. Anyway, I'm probably gonna end up ordering the White Neo Hybrid, I don't really like the glossy finish, but I still think the case is pretty awesome thanks for all the replies!
just boght a white ultra hybrid case. I'm hoping it's smaller than neo hybrid. I'll update when I receive it.

Somehow I doubt it will be thinner than a pure TPU case like Ultra Capsule. There doesn't seem to be any functional advantages to the Hybrid over the Capsule. Only thing new here is the color combinations.

With longer lips of neo I can better use dry screen protectors and neo works well with extended battery.

SGP Ultra Hybrid Case
I ordered the white/gray Ultra Hybrid case by SGP on January 30 and just received it in the mail today. Here are my thoughts, which are admittedly made after less than an hour of use:
- The matte white part on the back is very nice to the touch and feels pretty durable, but I'm worried about it staining because there is no glossy coating. Don't get me wrong; I prefer that it's matte. I just don't want it to stain. So far it's squeaky clean, though!
- The gray parts on the sides (the TPU portion) are a little loose on the sides (it's very minute, only really noticeable on the left side near the volume buttons).
- The power button triggers much more easily and is prone to accidental presses with this case on. I wish they would have just provided cutouts like on the Diztronic Rev. 3.
- The cutouts for the ports on the bottom are symmetric and fit well with plenty of room for bigger plugs.
- There was minimal "flash" (the little strands of extraneous plastic). Just pulled a loose piece off next to the camera cutout and it was just about perfect besides that.
- I like that it does provide a bit of a lip around the bezel of the phone, for setting it down face-down.
Overall I'm pretty happy with this case, though I do wish the fit was a little bit better near the volume buttons. If I had to predict a potential dealbreaker for this phone, it might be the power button issue, as I could see it triggering a lot in a person's pocket and reducing their battery life as a result of the screen being on more often. I'll probably end up keeping it on my Galaxy Nexus for awhile, but I am admittedly already looking into cases with cutouts for the side buttons. Hope this short review helps anyone that is interested; feel free to message me or reply if you have questions.
FYI I'm using a GSM Galaxy Nexus with the stock battery.

Seems like many people are still confused between Ultra Hybrid and Ultra Capsule - people, just to clarify, these two cases totally different. The "Ultra Capsule" is, from what I understand, a TPU soft case, while the "Ultra Hybrid", like the name suggests, is a mix between soft and hard case but its ONE piece case with matte back, unlike the "Neo Hybrid" which is a TWO piece hybrid case with glossy back and super rad colors.
So, in summary:
Ultra Capsule: Soft TPU, One piece
Ultra Hybrid: Soft interior, hard exterior, One piece, Matte colors
Neo Hybrid: Soft interior, hard exterior, Two piece, Glossy rad colors
Hopefully now we're all clear. And thanks for the Ultra Hybrid review and pictures, its hard to find any reviews of this case. Once I receive my Neo Hybrid, I'll do a quick review too. Hopefully it looks as good as your case

i'm pretty sure it doesnt, according to the website it says its not compatible with the LTE version, in big red flashy description.
Yep, it does work on the VZW Nexus. You cannot use the extended battery in it but it does fit the standard.
So...I just got my Soul Black Neo Hybrid case today on the mail and I'm pretty freakin' happy with it! Like I said, this is a two part case which comes with a soft plastic interior and hard plastic exterior case and I got to say, this stuff feels premium! I wish the case would fit my GNex a little tighter but I think thats my opinion cuz once the case is on, it's pretty hard to take it off. That being said, the case adds pretty much no bulk to my GNex, doesn't make it bigger or heavier by much at all. It has a 'lip' which will keep your screen of any surface if you're putting the phone face down which is a pretty nice feature. ONE MAJOR COMPLAIN I have with this case is, I couldn't fit my damn charger cable! the cutout hole on the harder case was too small and it kept pushing out my cable when I want to charge it. I was pretty upset at first but I tried scraping the sides of the hole with an X-Acto knife and in the end I was able to fit the charger in the MicroUSB port. I was disappointed by this, coming from SGP, but it could be that my case is flawed as well.
All in all, I would recommend this case to anyone. I got the Soul Black color, and I don't usually like glossy finish but I gotta say, my GNex looks pretty sweet. If you are handy with tools, you'll have no problem fixing this case up. I am very pleased with it and I'm sure most of you will be too! If you're interested in getting this case on eBay, I really recommend this guy:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/320830298236?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
I got mine in two weeks when it's suppose to take 3-6 weeks. Great communication and shipping is paid for as well, what more can you ask for?
Hope this was helpful!
Anyone else noticing the charger issue..?

I recommend either one of these. The Ultra Hybrid may look thick, but it's actually thinner than the Cruzer Lite one as much to my surprise.

I like the cruzer lite, it adds a thick enough "lip" over the face of the phone that setting it down doesn't allow your screen to contact the surface you set it on. Plus it's only $9.

thinnest and uber cheap case
Hi there,
I'm not quite sure how thin you would like your case to be, but I recently discovered a couple of cases on ebay that may fit your description.
LINK: I'm sorry, I am a relatively new user on XDA and I can't post link just yet. However, you can ebay a seller called "smokydiscount" and keywords: 0.2mm Ultra thin case for galaxy nexus prime. Otherwise, just PM me.
MY OPINION: I really like these cases and they're great for scratch protection. As for drops and bumps, these cases are negligible; your phone will probably be just as damaged as compared to without a case.
PROS:
- Incredibly thin. It's as if your phone doesn't have a case on it
- WILL protect the back from any scratches. You can leave your phone on a rough surface without any concerns
- Very cheap
CONS:
- There is no front lip, meaning if you put your phone face down on a rough surface, beware. However, the case does come with a screen protector which is fairly decent (ALMOST to the same standard as Brando screen protectors)
- For some reason it does make the phone more slippery. The plastic doesn't provide any grip
- The case is very fragile when it is not applied on your phone. I had to get a replacement sent out because the case came to my house cracked, most probably due to the postage and handling.
Despite the cons, this is definitely one of my favourite cases. Check them out.
TPU rubber case with stand on amazon only 3 bucks and it covers everything , just need a screen protector

First is the Spigen Slim Armour as alot of people here pointed. It offers good all round protection with a slight increase in bulk. Build quality is very good and looks damn sleek. Only cons are the back portion is very very slippery so you have to be careful, and it's also kinda expensive.
Second is the Imak air jacket. Very slim transparent case, allows you to retain the ergonomics and design of the phone. Build quality is excellent but doesn't offer as much protection.
I've used both a Spigen Slim Armor and an Ultra Hybrid and while I can recommend both, I'd go with the Slim. Both are a both slippery though.
Just for reference the black slim armor is a soft touch rubber feel which isn't as slippery as the colour options

Best case I've ever owned:
1. Completely transparent
2. Hard, but flexible
3. Thinner than 90% of other cases out there - doesn't add more bulk than needed
4. Envelopes the whole phone (all edges and corners, laps over the face and ridges out a good 2mm)
The only 2 negatives:
1. It could be slippery if your hands are oily/moist
2. Missing the fuzzy soft touch rubber feel
I have the Spigen slim armor and it seems ok, although the fit isn't as snug as i would like. I just got the LG quick circle case which has apps that you can use with the circle, although it's not much for protecting the phone. Still... It's something different than other devices.
Slim Armor
I have the black Spigen Slim Armor and I like it. It offers good protection, isn't too slick although could be stickier, and doesn't add much bulk.
I bought the Nexus 5 and it's amazing. I've already got a screen protector but now I'm still looking for the right case. My first choice was the official bumper case but that isn't an option anymore because it isn't only unavailable at the moment, but most of the people also say it starts to peel off very quickly. So I kept looking for a case that could satisfy my needs. I want to have a good-looking case that delivers the protection the N5 needs, but doesn't add too much bulk so it wouldn't look like some kind of dragon. I also want to mention that I'm not looking for any kind of flip cover because a phone is a phone and not a book.
So after some research I've come down to 2 cases that both give a good impression. Spigen Case Slim Armor and Spigen Case Neo Hybrid. They both have a fairly good reputation so I really can't decide which one to get. I also don't really know the difference. I guess they are the same in thickness. The Slim Armor one probably has better protection and from what I've read isn't as slippery as the Neo Hybrid one, but that case probably also has nice features.
Which one should I get? Or are there better cases available? Thanks in advance!

I have bought like a whole load of cases and found that my favorite case is a simple TPU case like Distronic's cases (I like the black one, the white/clear/frosted design gets discolored over time) they don't make the phone overly bulky, provide pretty good drop protection and are pretty cheap. I have owned Spigen's slim armor and the slim armor with the flip cover and while they are great cases they made the phone a little more chunky than I liked.

Also came here to recommend the Diztronic TPU... I have the black one and its my favorite. Have tried quite a few cases as well, although never had a spigen

+1 for diztronic
It adds fairly good protection but less bulk than most cases(not counting hard shells). Buttons are easy to press and it looks and feels good. It's cheap too!
I've also had spigen neo hybrid but found it too bulky and slippery. Buttons and looks were nice tho.
Btw clear diztronic is out of stock and they dont sell it anymore.
I'd stay away from hard cases such as the ringke slim or spigen hard crystal shell as they scratched up my phone
+1 for soft
Go with the slim armor. One of the best cases I've had, and I've had A LOT of cases. Its a lot more comfortable to hold over the neo hybrid.

My favorite case by far is the Magpul Field. https://store.magpul.com/product/MAG474/cases
Magpul looks awesome dude. Not those clear backs. My ringke got scratched up real bad. Neo hybrid looks decent, in fact I'm getting it. Considering a diztronic as well. I-blason is decent too.
I haven't got the specific Spigen cases you're interested in but I do have the Spigen ultra fit and ultra hybrid. I have been using both cases for the past year (the ultra fit mostly because it doesn't add as much bulk as the ultra hybrid) and both are very good cases that I like. However, I recently ordered the Diztronic case and I'm waiting for it to arrive. The reason is I recently used my previous phone with a Diztronic case and it reminded me that I generally prefer good quality TPU cases more. So I decided I may as well get a Diztronic case for my Nexus 5. As you may see, I agree with the others in recommending the Diztronic case.
I have the Spigen Case Slim Armor, a Tech21 case, and a TPU case, I prefer the Tech21, as a matter of fact I dropped my phone just the other day, and it landed flat on it's back, I thought for sure the screen would be shattered, but nope, all is well.
The Tech21 seems to have more of an "Air cushion" between the case and back of the phone.

Well, I have a pretty cheap one at the moment, this one (it's indeed not a very pretty one). The case barely adds any bulk but it doesn't give the safest feeling. I'm protected for any scratches but I don't think these kind of cases absorb impact very well, so I'll probably still go for something chunkier but then I'll at least know I'm pretty safe.

From what I've read the Neo Hybrid is a bit overrated and doesn't feel very good in the hand. So yeah, I'll probably get the Slim Armor one.

These cases are probably really well-made but I don't think they protect that good if you compare it to the bulkier cases, definitely not against drops.

I thought the Spigen Slim Armor also has these air cushions?
I felt like that too until this convinced me that a TPU case is good enough.

The Cruzerlite cases are pretty similar to the Diztronic ones.

The Tech21 has a little more cushion
My favorite case after trying out several:
Bugdroid by Cruzerlite

I love the Google Bumper Case.
Magpul then diztronic. Slim armor I hated I had zero button feedback

I love them too. Very good feel in hand. I don't know it until I bought one. I know the Official one now unavailable but still we have a lots high quality one in eBay. Not OEM, but still very good (even similar if you ask me)
I'm using spigen case
i get it for free from Nexus gift pack
It's nice, and it feels like the original back of nexus
Had both the Neo Hybrid and the Slim Armor and prefer the Neo Hybrid.
I found that in comparison to the Neo Hybrid, the Slim Armor added too much bulk to the phone. The back of the NH feels better (rubber, a bit like the original back of the phone) while the back of the SA is more slippery (metal). The buttons on the SA required too much force to press and you don't really feel any feedback while pressing.
The only reason I would choose the SA over the NH is for the extra protection, but for me the NH offers more than enough protection (dropped it a few of times indoor and outdoor, only some minor scruffs on the corners of the case).
Didn't Spigen used to sell just the outer band for the neo hybrid? That way you can have a few different colors if you like
