Hi everybody, first post on xda.
I have this problem on my GNex: when i listen to the music with headphones (through poweramp mainly) and i get a notification, the sound of the notification clips a little and after that the audio volume get lower for one or two secs... as far as i know this doesn't seem to happen w/o headphones and happens with all the roms i've tried, even with the stock, all tried with various kernel.
The same problem happens to any of you?
i am unlocked, rooted, but with stock 4.0.2 rom and kernel.
don't use Poweramp, but listen to Google Music throughout the day, and have no problem with notifications using headphones.

I just received my Epic 4G Touch on Friday, and I'm experiencing an issue where notification sounds will always be played through the phone speaker even though I have headphones plugged in. I am using the stock ROM, and this behavior is happening rooted or unrooted (I just rooted this morning).
Here are the different scenarios where I always have this happen now.
- Listening to a podcast through Pocketcasts with my phone directly connected to my car stereo system via headphone jack. Podcast is playing through the car speakers just fine. I will receive a gtalk chat, and the podcast is silenced briefly to play the notification sound, however the notification sound will be played from the phone speaker.
- Listening to music through the Google Music app with headphones at the gym. I'll be using the C25K app to send a verbal notification for when to run or walk. It plays through the phone speaker and alerts the whole gym. =\
- And then I just tested it right now. With literally NOTHING playing in the background but with a pair of headphones plugged in. I sent myself a gtalk message from an alternate account, and it plays the gtalk notification sound through the phone speaker.
I upgraded from an HTC EVO 4G, so this is obviously bizarre behavior and not a problem I experienced with my previous phone. It worked properly.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Does anyone know how to fix this?
Not sure what is kosher behavior here on the forums, but since this thread hadn't gotten a response yet and had fallen to the second page, I just wanted to give it a little bump back up.
Hopefully others can at least confirm whether or not they are also experiencing this problem.
I actually used to experience this with my Epic 4G
and I literally just tested it (the way you did, with just the headphones in) on my ET4G and yup, I get the same thing
Also, on my Epic 4G, my music would stop playing if 1. my ringer volume was NOT on silent/vibrate and 2. when I got a notification
so I'm more than sure my ET4G does it as well
I have not utilized the new voice features on the ET4G, so I can't comment on that
I don't know if this is a flawed or purposed design, but you are not alone, lol
*I don't know if there are any fixes for it. only thing I could imagine would be some kind of custom rom
has there been any fix for this?
Music + Headphone + Notification = Angry Coworkers
I need to bump this question up (instead of reposting the question). This has annoyed me for a while, but today I was blasting my music with my headphones on, then suddenly I got a meeting reminder. Playing the notification over the speakerphone is one thing, but when the notification is played via the phone's speaker, it also blasts my music via the phone speaker throughout the duration of the notification too!
The only resolution I see for now is to put the phone on silent whenever you want to listen to music via your headset, otherwise if you get a notification, people will get a loud blast of Lenny Kravitz.
Does anyone know if this happens with the more popular custom roms? I'm currently stock. Thanks!
I have this issue also, the silent mode only works sometimes for some reason
Hi All.
I have problem with any headphones, stock from htc, creative etc. When i'm using internet via wifi in left ear i have some quiet noise. Od wifi is turned off everything is fine. I have stock 2.3.3. Someone could check this at own Desire? Any ideas to fix this problem? Thx.
is your headphone working fine with other devices with wifi? (another phone etc)
Yes, and i tested 4 headphones with my Desire, always little noises in left ear.
The same problem here with my desire stock rom 2.3
might be something wrong in hardware. Have you flashed any custom from yet?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Hi, thx for reply. No, didn't flashed, always stock 2.3.3
What rom do You have? Could You test this problem on your Desire?
I've found this on all ROMS I've tried; LeeDroid, MildWild, the various ICS builds (CM9/Sandvold/MIUI-AU) and stock Sense. I also find that I get a very slight popping noise.
To test - in a silent room, play a music track, but turn media volume right down. Pause, and wait for the audio to deactivate; you'll hear the slight hiss stop. Press play, and it'll hiss, then start regular little clicks/ticks/pops.
Happens on all headphones that I've tried, obviously the more sound insulating, the more annoying it is. It's not a problem 90% of the time, but if I'm listening to classical music (most of the time) and there's a pause or a particularly quiet passage, then I can hear it. A disappointment, having come from an iPhone which is just invisible as a music player. Oh well, the Desire has other benefits...
I've asked this question before but there were no replies.... I hope this time I'll get some pointers and re-phrase my question better.
I'm using the GSM Galaxy Nexus 4.1.1
Sometimes my music stops playing when switching apps or pressing the home button to return to the home screen, it doesn't happen all the time, but very troublesome when it does. It happens usually just right after unlocking the phone from sleep. I'm using the stock music player
I've noticed that this issued happened to Android phones as well, I tried to update the stock music app, and switched kernels. I don't know what else I can do. I don't recall encountering this problem back in 4.0.4.
Any help would be appreciated

Give us a bit more info:
1. What music app are you using? If it's an app that can both play local media files and stream, which are you doing?
2. Are you playing your music through headphones, the internal speaker, or Bluetooth?
3. If headphones, have you tried other headphones? If Bluetooth, how far away are the devices?
4. Which ROM and Kernel are you using?

I said I'm using the stock music player, Play Music.
I'm playing music through headphones.
I am sure that this problem is not because of the headphones
I'm using the stock 4.1.1 ROM JRO03C. This problem happend on both the stock kernel and Franco Milestone 5
Are you running any other memory hungry apps? Sounds like your music player is getting killed because the memory is needed for something else.
I've had this happen in two instances, so hopefully my personal experience will help you.
The first time, it ended up being a faulty cord in my Nokia Purity HD headphones, I bought a new cord and that fixed my issues.
The second time it was because I was attempting to play music, that I had downloaded in Spotify, but since I was in a crappy coverage area, it would pause the music every time I lost a data connection, even though the music was stored locally. Switching Spotify to offline mode fixed it, so you might try switching to offline only mode in Play Music.
Even if you don't think it's your headphones (for example, you tried them on a PC and they worked), you have to remember that phones have many more contacts inside the headphone jack, used for the media controls in headsets (headphones with buttons and mics), so if there is a short in your headphones that makes the phone think you're pressing the "Play/Pause" button, it wouldn't show in your PC, because most if not all PCs lack this functionality.
Hey guys,
Ever since I upgraded to JB, whenever I have 2 different sources trying to play audio at the same time, one of them ends up garbled (as in 'a computerized, static sound resembling the original sound - still understandable, but quite frustrating). This ONLY happens if Beats Audio is running!
For example, when listening to music (PowerAmp) and using Waze (GPS), mostly the sounds of the directions sound garbled, though it can happen to the music playing. When turning off Beats Audio, the problem is solved.
This reproduces with normal notifications as well, and been happening ever since I upgraded my HBOOT to 1.28 and then (just yesterday) to 1.31, on both AHRD and OrDroid (just yesterday).
Please note - It did NOT reproduce on various AOSP and AOKP builds (probably because no Beats Audio there), and did not happen on ICS (was on ViperX for quite a long time...)
Any solution to this matter?
Don't use beats.
I have a problem with my gnex. After using a bluetooth headset, I lost almost all sounds.
What is not working
Media sounds like game sounds or music playback, Mic, Earpiece
Whats working
Alarms, Phonecalls through speakerphone.
Also I noticed that when I raise the media volume, I get the warning for destroying my ears that I used to got only through a headset.
What I tried
Flash stock rom down to 4.1, Flash a stock radio, Flash a lot of different kernels.
The only solution I got is through a 3rd party application (SoundAbout) that lets you choose how to redirect sound.

But this hasn't solve my problem, is just a workaround. I can not understand how is it possible to be a software problem but not be solved by an installation of a different rom+radio+kernel
Any comments ?
