Any opinions on the Samsung Omnia W?
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_omnia_w_i8350-4200.php
It will be released in India at a price of Rs.19,999/- (Approx USD 400/-)
http://telecomtalk.info/samsung-intros-omnia-w-wave-3-and-galaxy-y-smartphones-in-india/78284/
I am tempted by this phone, waiting for official market release and feedback before taking the plunge.
This is aggressive pricing for Samsung in India, it should help in establishing Windows Phone 7 in India as long as there is proper advertising and marketing to let people know that it exists.
Hopefully Nokia will follow Samsung's lead and also price their WP7 offerings competitively?
It has only 8 GB of memory.. and with no zune pass service india it means you cant stream music.. only to download and store music to play it.. you cannot expand this memory using SD slot or anything.. think about it.. do you wanna get stuck with 8GB where my system memory has already taken like 6GB with a few apps and like Xbox 10 games...
I use omnia 7 16GB and i have now only 4.5 GB remaining and am constantly deleting old tracks to save space..
i have that one sure the space is a problem when you can jailbreak, but until now, i haven't get any solution. the space is not a problem since i sync all days.
i have focus also with more space, course, but not 4g no front cam no 1.4ghz
Hello guys,
ah another one waiting for the Omnia W I'm currently sporting my old but well-functioning HTC Elf. And I think I'll keep it as navigation system in my car when it gets replaced. And although it gets the job down I can feel it becoming older and slower from day to day. So i decided to jump to WP7. However I'm still waiting for affordable devices. As a student, my budget is limited and i want to spent around 300-400 € for my new mobile phone. At the moment there are the HTC Radar and the Omnia W more or less announced around this price. But the Radar seems ugly and I'm not really convinced by its specs. However I've heard quite some praise for the Omnia 7 so I'm assuming that the W will have a comparable build-quality. However 8GB is not much and I'm hoping that Nokia will announce their devices really soon. But at the moment I'm going for the Omnia W
Regards
Chris
Thought this might be interesting if I go by things I read on different threads.
This won't be the case but let's assume you can get any phone on any carrier and price isn't an issue.
How would you pick your next phone?
I allowed for multiple choice but try not to vote for 6 out of 8 or this won't teach us anything specific. And if you picked "Other", what did you have in mind?
Other: gyroscope support and > 1 GHz processor
My most important features: Screen size (less than 4"), Camera (high quality with dual led), and something not there build quality.
I am pretty much all in for the Nokia 800. Second choice is the Samsung Omnia W.
For me there has to be a hardware keyboard - I just hate capacitive touch keyboards.
Price, can't be more than $100 with no contract. And of course, significantly better than my LG Quantum, otherwise I have no reason to upgrade.
I LOVE massive phones, I went from my HD2, to an HD7, and if God would answer my prayers, the Titan would come to T-Mobile, though, soon enough it won't matter as I'm hoping we become AT&T. So, I voted for FFC since it's already a given to me that I'm going for a big phone. Screen type would probably be a close second for me, as I like the HD7 screen, but really wish it were a higher quality, but hey, I'm asking to be spoiled now, right?
It's odd to see one user out of two ready to buy a phone on its brand alone
I personally go for what I find better overall regardless of the OEM.

Yeah I guessed price would come up for many people as well as choice given by the carrier which is why I said in the first post regardless of price and availability

I personally love HTC, I know I'm probably in the current minority, for some odd reason as they're the only phones to consistently update without an issue, but Nokia is also winning over my heart.
I really want my Mozart to be my last HTC ever. But it's been my desire to abandon them since like 2005, and I still was forced to buy their stuff because others were mostly even worse.
In your list, it goes like this: screen less than 4", 16GB minimum (64 preferred), usable camera, 1500+ mAH battery. No pentile crap. Looks are also kind of important, but I can live with something less than stellar.
The leaks and announcements really make me sad, I don't see anything really attractive. SeaRay is almost there but it looks like it'll come with PenTile, so it's most probably a no go...
I'm with FiyaFleye, I like HTC and and have seen problems that would affect with other OEMS that I don't have with my Fuze. Nokia I have no idea on that but haven't had one in 4 yrs and it was a dumbphone. However not willing to wait another 3 months+ for them either. I would like a hardware keyboard with a smaller screen would be first choice, or go with a big screen so I can type well. Extra nick nacks are always a plus if they are usable, and 1 gig > processor for some future app usage is good too.
This list would have been so much easier in Aug before they started announcing phones, I'm just waiting for mine to come to the USA.
I'd love to get my hands on a Nokia WP7 phone, but that could take a while and the HTC Titan is kinda expensive over here.
I'll prolly just get a Samsung Omnia W if I get too impatient, really wanna see what the better CPU/GPU can do for my emulator.
Also I'd really like to see some 32GB storage phones, 8GB is just killing me on my Trophy.
1. Storage, it must be at least 32gb
2. Nokia
I will only consider getting a phone that isn't a nokia if the storage space is 32gb or above (and nokia only offer 16gb variants).
If storage space doesn't improve by the end of the year I will probably jump ship to android, even though I prefer Windows Phone my music collection is a must for me.
I'm hoping *fingers crossed* that the Nokia 800 will come in 16gb and 64gb variants like the N9 and thus will be my next phone (in blue )
Manufacturer is gonna come into play for my next WP7. IE i'm not having another Samsung phone.
I went with screen size. 3.5" ish would be good. Also, want good battery life. At least a 1500mah battery.
Funny how so few people picked FF Camera when it's supposed to be an epic fail not to have it since Apple "invented" video chat
I would have bought that Samsung Omnia 7 W like today if it came with 16 GB...
Sent from my OMNIA7 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
1. Storage...at least 32 GB
3. Camera quality
3. Screen quality
I don't know any one that actually uses the FFC...nothing but a gimmick.
I´m asking myself if I need a new WP in general...
My OMNIA 7 has all features I use daily (less DLNA and skype support).
So today I took a look at the new HTC devices:
1. HTC Omega is too small.
2. HTC Titan is too big for my taste.
The display is much better than the HD7 display but not even better than the OMNIA 7 display. Also the general quality of the phone is very good: less plastic parts and good working hardware buttons (compared with the HD7).
Do I need a HTC Titan 4.7" notebook in my pocket ? I don´t think so.
The upcoming OMNIA W will only have 8 GB, maybe 16GB... is this what I need ? I don´t think so either.
A general question is: Do I really need a FF cam ? How many videocalls I made in the past ? I only made normal voip calls...
I would say the only hope is that the NOKIA Empire strikes back... and I don´t think that the new devices will have more than 16 GB.
I hope that I´m wrong, but I think it´s better to wait 3 or 4 month before buying a new WP.
Regards

I never thought I'd say this, but camera is my #1. Since everyone seems to be pinching pennies these days and both of my old 5MP point-and-shoots are just crappy, my phone has become my #1 camera for both stills and video. I remember when cameras first came out on cell phones and I was thinking, "why?" All that, and baby is now 12 weeks old, so I'm taking pictures like crazy!
Screen size is a close second. I doubt I could ever go smaller than my 4" Focus screen at this point.
Just curious if any of the lower priced brands out there can match the G3 (or come close) to specs. I wasn't even thinking of the lower tier products until I was in a computer store yesterday and saw the BLU brand in person. I never heard of it before so I started looking into it.
Let me just say now that they have the WORST website design! I think they have about 30 different models and its so hard to differentiate between them. I have no idea what tier levels they have (high end, low end, speciality, feature...ect). Its a absolute mess. Not only that the the specs vary wildly, eg: "High end" LTE enable phone has 720p display, good display model has dual sim capability and 1080p display yet 4GB storage.
OK, well my search gets better from there. Next I looked at Huawei. Lot of nice phones but pricey, some coming close to the G3 price, and a lot of their LTE models aren't compatible with TMO USA.
Xiaomi look nice, but they have like 3 phones in their entire lineup (exact opposite problem of BLU) and none have LTE.
Finally I thought I found solace in the OnePlus until I got to the part about getting an invite.... WHY... WHY!
Sorry for ranting on. Is there anything else I am not counting.
Hello everyone,
Note 7 is one of the priciest mobile devices ever sold by Samsung where, there were already many dissatisfied customers because of its price point, however, in light of the recent events that surrounded the release and the recall of Note 7 series do you think that Samsung will cut the price when they re-release the Note 7 "expected in October" ?
One point to consider is that IPhone 7 will be announced tomorrow and will be released at the same time as Note 7 if not sooner! and as we all know, one of the reasons that made Samsung advance the release date of the note series is to avoid direct competition with Apple.
What do you think? should we return our phones and get a refund and wait until Samsung re-release the note 7 so we can assess what would be their marketing strategy? or should we wait for Note 7 replacements?
I'm not returning it for refund. I just want a replacement. Price isn't important to me but I realise it is for some...but shouldn't those guys be looking at value brands Oneplus etc anyway without shouting Samsung is too expensives? For who? YOU?
I don't think Sammy could possibly afford to reduce the new price due to the recall but they may add extras as standard...for instance its cheaper to include a cost VR or SD card than knock £100 off!
There will also be an awful lot of remanufactured phones available shortly....no doubt going cheap!
Yes, absolutely.
Note 7 has a lot of issues: the unwanted curved screen, programmed obsolesce in form of the non-removable battery, fragile glass back, mediocre 4GB RAM, etc etc.
it is no longer a device that sets standards.
The fair price for Note 7 is about 500 EUR maximum.
850 EUR is just gross overpricing, it's to throw money away.
don't forget there are excellent devices like:
OnePlus 3 for 400 EUR (although the screen has low FHD resolution, and no QC3);
ZTE Axon 7 for 450 EUR (and it has amazing DACs, and dolby stereo speakers).
let's see how it goes.
you/those who bought it knew all of this but still bought it....
I'm sure they'll do another round of promotions because it makes sense - it'll almost be like relaunching the phone. As for a price drop, why? It's a premium phone already selling below the iPhone 7. It's no less premium because of the battery recall.
I like the curved screen and prefer it.
We have battery banks, no need for removable battery. I prefer IP67 over removable battery.
Glass back for wireless charging, check.
4GB is mediocre? There's still PC's that run with 4 or even 2GB ram.
The go and buy those OP3 or A7... I care about water resistance and wirelesses charging, s pen, I even like the new TouchWiz, I love the camera of N7 and for shure I will love the phone... U are not geting any of these features in those phones so I pay more... even the build of N7 is more epic, I like the edge saying that is unwanted is ur choise... this note7 is a full package and you don't need 6 gb RAM... OP3 is a proof of that
You dont even own the Note 7. Why are you here? If you like the other brands you mention buy those why keep knocking the Note 7 as you do whenever you have the chance?
No one is going to force you to purchase the Note 7 and to keep unwisely comparing an apple with an orange just highlights your total lack of knowledge in relation to the Note 7's specifications.
Ryland
I like the Note 7 no doubt it, but the question is should we get a refund on our phones and repurchase it when it is commercially available ?
NO! I want a straight exchange.
Well the price in HK has been slash a fair bit. Initial Release price was $6198HKD (800USD), this morning it was 5570HKD (718USD).
The price is bearable after if I trade in Note 5, it should cover 50% of the cost.
I agree it should be around 675USD would be a reasonable price range (600EURO). I don't think they would slash price by that much until at least 6 month later.
But...
Consider that a iPhone 7 Plus is about 770/870/970USD.
I think getting the Note 7 is still hell of a deal.
none of us know what R&D Samsung have put into the device and price generally reflects a large % that.
Those saying it should cost $300 less....why? There are plenty of cheaper alternatives - buy those if they are in your price bracket.
Its a bit like buying their top of the range curve screens costing upwards of £2000. Yes there are plenty of large UHD screens on the market, but its down to personal choice and what options you need If you can afford it and will pay it, there is no competition. I looked at the price of the IP7+ and at £900 for what THAT is, that is properly overpriced! Still no notification LED!
They may bundle freebies and tweak the price a bit. If there will be significant change in price, it will upset the pre-order owners which will later have impact in their future product launch.
If you are concerned about the price variation, Samsung is offering a refund. You can take that and stay on the safe side. Each has its own preference. Unless the purchase is just for the heck of having one, then price will eventually be a big deal. As for me, if another brand can offer a model with S-pen as good as the Note series, then I may reconsider. For now, I stay with Note 7 because it makes a part of my everyday work a bit easier - signing e-docs on the fly.
In my country, Cambodia, Note 7 is only $770 (Dual sim FD). But there is no VR bonus, GearS, or SD card. $850 is a good point if you get the bonus.
Meanwhile, iPhone 7 32GB price is going to be $900-$1100, which originally is only $650 in the US. No bonus except the cheap-azz screen protector.
Hello,
5570HKD?, I am seeing this price only on Price (price.com.hk), I didnt see any update on "official" resseller (Fortress, netwrok carrier...).
Do you have more infos about that?
I have the Xperia 1 since day one and I love the phone. I was thinking about upgrading to the The Xperia 1 II but the only noticeable changes are the cameras, wireless charging and the headphones jack. The display is the same as far as I know. So do you think I should wait for the 2021 xperia flagship?
more internal space 256 GB 0_o
but no i'll wait couple monthe and see how the price drops
I'm waiting for one to be available and I will be buying. Wanted PRO 5G but looks like that may be still in development.

I don't know if the price will drop in the beginning. Judging from Xperia 1 the price started to drop after 6 months. And about the internal space I have an SD card on mine it was easier that way to transfer the large clips recorded with the cinema Pro app so I will just move the SD card over to the new phone.

I think that the Xperia 1 II is 5G it depends on the region. On the UK Sony site it says that the phone is 5G.
It is but not on ATT in US
Pre-ordered with B&H
@tonev
i need Dual SIM but its a hybrid Dual SIM
1 SIM with an SD or 2 SIM without an SD
i loved my Z3+ full dual SIM 2 SIM's and SD same time
Definitely looking at it (feeling the flat edges), but the Xperia 1 is serving me very well. Any frustration I have with this device is so minor that I can't justify a new purchase now.
I will wait until I crack the screen or lose the phone to justify such consumerist behavior, I have to think of being sustainable now, both financially and environmentally.
Sony aren't making it easy for us to buy this thing. I'm keen because it will have wireless charging and more internal storage. I don't give a stuff about the headphone jack as I moved to wireless a few years ago and won't go back.
If I could get it in white tomorrow I'd place an order straight away but as usual, Sony do this crap thing they always do with colours and there is no sign of it coming anywhere near UK. For the Xperia 1 I had to order a whitey from Amazon Germany.
I'm disappointed to read however that the brightness levels are still not good, the Xperia 1 is poor in this respect in direct sunlight and got rightly slated for this and it doesn't seem that Sony has taken heed.
The flat edges though.....at last, no more of this curved ****e.....hoorah. Just pulled out my original Xperia Z with it's wonderful block like build....ahhhh, that feels good.
No i am happy with my x1 and x1 mark 2 is just a small improvement not so much and only because the headphone jack, wireless charging and more internal space ? Still no, 128gb is enough with a 400gb sd card ??
Screen color is 1billion this is a big step and 90ghz refresh rate and snapdragon 865 performance is high and the management is improve thanks to hs power control
Had the X1 since December and love it! From what I've seen the X1 ii is an incremental improvement in some ways and additional features if you need them. If it didn't have the X1 now, coming from an XZ Premium I'd seriously consider the X 1 ii. For now, I'll wait see what the Xperia Pro offers as I hear is will support US 5G. Honestly, I"m very happy with the X1 I"ll probably wait regardless.
While I would love the change in camera from the mark I (80mm focal rather than 50mm), the mark I doesn't have anything that make me want to change it for now and for anything else, I will see what will be on the market in one or two years I guess. But Mark II is a good improvement, I hope they will keep this direction with next ones.
I just hope the photopro app will be ported to the mark I.
No, will keep my Xperia 1 for a year or so, maybe more, until I see a major hardware upgrade (like periscope zoom)
I already have!! For £818 with headphones is a no brainer! I will sell the headphones for at least £200, my old Xperia 1 for £300 so in the end I'll pay only £318 for an upgrade Cant wait for it
I am happy with the xperia 1, I wait for the Xperia mark 3 Next year.
This year play PS5 and sony oled a8
Enviado desde mi J9110 mediante Tapatalk
It looks to be an awesome phone, but I'm happy with my Xperia 1 and I'll wait for more upgrades. A mark III or mark IV will not only have more significant hardware upgrades, but also more refined and advanced software like newer versions of Cinema and Photo Pro and Android 11 or 12.
I have an Xperia 1 right now. As much as I liked the design of mark II. The price is not worth it since I can't use any 5g band of T-Mobile. Hopefully, the Xperia next year support more bands.
