It's easy.. Just tie the phone to your front door and, using a sharpie (permanent ink marker), write "UPDATE" on the screen. Leave for a few hours, and see if it's still there. If it is, is was LOCKED for UPDATE.

You are not very descriptive and it was hard to understand what your problem is, that (and the fact that your english is not on high level) lead to such a behavior of some senior members here. Please provide more details if you wish to get some help from others. You should at least tell them:
What is the version of bootloader (SPL) you are using,
What OS you use - which version (WM5, WM6), or version number
What Radio you are using,
And what did you try to upgrade and what was the error, when did it happen and so on.
People here have lots of knowledge of Hermes, but they are not mind-readers. Try to be as descriptive as possible and there is high possibility someone will help you. If you are afraid you can not express what is your problem in english ask some of people here that are from your country to translate your questions to english. Good luck!

First you should upgrade your bootloader according to this guide:

Then you can try to flash either radio or rom or both - have a look at this guides I mentioned before.
But as english is not your mother tongue I guess its better to find somebody here in the Forums who is speaking your language and ask him/her for help.

If you want to eliminate potential communiaction problems and misunderstanding you can edit your signature to provide details about your device. What you are using will be clearly visible so troubleshooting of any potential problems will be easier. Most important info is: device name (TyTn, Trinity...), OS version/name, Radio version and Bootloader (SPL) version. Good luck flashing!

You can edit your homepage in menu>>tools>>options>>general tab in Pocket Internet Explorer.

How to help: Installing T-Mobile WM Upgrade on non-branded S620

Can anyone post a step by step how to on installing the T-Mobile WM6 ROM on the non-branded Euro version of the Excalibur?
I've tried a couple of times following pieces of info, but unsuccessfully.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Second that....keep getting "invalid vendor id" even though it is sim/cid unlocked. Won't even run the bootoader! Help!

sounds to me that the CID unlocking might not have been done properly
let's just say that the ROM/bootloader in question isn't the problem ... YOU SHOULDN'T encounter the "invalid vendor ID" message whatsoever ... because that's what CID unlocking does !!!

As far as I know there is no way to CID unlock the HTC S620 yet. However IMEI check have a work around to get the t-mobile WM6 Rom on there. The instructions are on the forum somewhere but I can't seem to see them right now.

not a workaround ... very straight forward and works !!!
I paid & followed their instructions here and it works straight up:

and then followed this particular post ( not others workaround ) ... and now I can upgrade/downgrade WM5 <<--->> WM6 whenever I pleased:

Ok..I used GSM Liberty to unlock the HTCs620. It is definitely SIM unlocked as I can use any SIM I want to. I have seen the IMEI-check work-around & am hesitant to try it because the work-around includes changing part of the ROM code to read IMEI-Check. Not sure how that would work with a GSM Liberty unlocked phone. Does it matter? Anyone know for sure? Anybody else used GSM Liberty to unlock their phone?

So UnicornKaz, you have a Tmobile Dash then? I'm pretty sure the first post in this thread is talking about the HTC S620, although he uses the word "unbranded" which is weird.

I have the HTC S621 (Rogers Canada ) ... which is the same machine as S620/Dash/Dopod C720W ...etc
They are the same beast ... just market brand in different part of the world.
It came originally locked with Rogers carrier ..etc ... then I went to the above link and paid for the CID/SIM unlocking service .. plus I went on to do the AppZ unlocking myself ... Now I can upgrade/downgrade as I wish ... no problems whatsoever.
...except for the bugs of each indivual OS .. LOL
Non-branded meaning the phone having HTC's logo instead of the carrier's branded logo
mine is also non-branded.

All I can think of is that imei-check have updated their software and now it is a real CID unlock. When I first flashed the WM6 imei check sent those hex editing instructions in an email (your first link) and that worked for me. So people should probably ensure they unlock with IMEI checks latest version and try that second link with the instructions if your phone really is super cid. If you still get invalid vendor then give the first link a try.

I've figured it out. The instructions you are suggesting involve downgrading the bootloader from 1.19 to 1.11. Where as the instructions that imei supplied don't require the downgrade but do involve the hex editing.
I just tried UnicornKaz's suggested technique on a Rodgers HTC-S620 and they worked fine, so that way seems easier to me. It seems when you flash to WM6 it updates the bootlooader to a newer one again which doesnt show the red text on black background at startup.

don't forget to use it again when you do the downgrading to WM5
makes for easier/error free ... to run it everytime !
and keep in mind that after each ROM upgrade/downgrade ... your phone needs to be "app unlocked" again

do you even need to pay imei-check? Perhaps it works withthat boot loader without even needing a cid unlock!!

I have tried finding a breakdown of all this info and had no such luck. If someone does not feel like explaining all that can u just tell me the latest tmobile released rom and if its safe to flash with s off and eng bootloader? Thank u.

WWE = World Wide English (?), means about as much as "global release". A version of a ROM which is released to one could say "unbranded" devices coming from HTC directly, intended for worldwide use. No G2, no Vodafone, just pure HTC.
RUU = Rom Update Utility, a Windows OS executable file which flashes a ROM onto your device, partially or fully. A so called "official RUU" is usually a ROM updater coming from HTC, still in it's untouched state, unmodified, means no root pre-included, no locks removed, no traps defused, just pure HTC.
TMOUS = T-Mobile USA. Questions?

Technically quite incorret but it will do as an explanation: we all have the same devices, they are just distinguishable by the software put on them. Since the hardware is the same, all devices worldwide will run every "Vision" ROM there is. So basically, as normal in IT, take the one with the highest number and youre good to go 1.34 is older than 1.72 is older than 1.84 is older than (...). The stuff after 1.34.xxx is for the "release/sales region" a ROM is intended for. 405 for example is more or less western europe, so ROMs released for the german/austrian/swiss/whatever market are 1.xx.405.z ROMs.

Doesn't matter, a Vision is a Vision. A "provider ROM" just means it will have some provider specific junk loaded as opposed to a "clean" HTC ROM. Exception: G2 vs DesireZ. G2 is "pure" Android (with T-Mo junk) where as DesireZ get Sense from HTC.

Semi brick? If you got a semi brick unbrick it by flasing something which works. Beauty of flashing HTC devices. Ever heard of locked Motorola bootloaders? A pain in the hole, and very much at that...

S-OFF and ENG Bootloader means your device is basically (very stupid things to do excluded) bomb proof. In this combination there is almost always a way to get it back to a working state. One thing I would consider: I'd take a modified, pre-rooted ROM, an "official" ROM might close a loophole used to root and crack and hack the device.

You'd need a custom recovery for that. And without ROOT you can't load a custom recovery. Hmm... you could temp-root, put recovery on, factory reset (wipe temp root stuff off device), pull a backup, and then perm-root. This way you'd get a quite clean backup. Anyone disagree?

How many of you are waiting for next version of MAGLDR? I am one of them. But in the meantime, how many of you want to make your device work like a native android device? And again, i am one of them. I had been using cLK on my HD2 just because MAGLDR shows a big ass GO GO GO! screen before booting the kernel which kinda annoys me. It was going all fine, until i started having connection problems on 3g network with cLK. I wanted to switch back to MAGLDR just for the network connection but again, i didnt feel like doing it. So i finally decided to do some hex editing to change all the MAGLDR Branded text to something else so that it looks like its officially from HTC and share with you guys. Here are some major changes in text:
MAGLDR => Loader
aMAGLDR => Loader
By Cotulla 2011 => HTC Boot Menu
WPH Boot => Windows
AD Boot SD => Android SD
AD Boot NAND => Android Boot NAND
GO GO GO! => Starting!

This is based on the latest 1.13 MAGLDR by Cotulla. I didn't make this and all the credits for the bootloader goes to Cotulla and DFT. Interesting.... now only if we could charge while the phone is off, hopefully Cotulla and DFT are working on it, as well as increasing the 445MB partition limit to take full advantage of the tmoblie version of our phone 1024mb , so we dont have to make EXT partition on our SD card on the large roms like the doubleshot!!!!

I would do it if i had the source code, but as it is all hex code, it will be really tough to embed the code without messing up MAGLDR. But i will try

I don't understand changes between this one and magldr???

It only changes the text you see when magldr boots. There is no change or improvements. Its purpose is to give magldr more of an HTC look.

Hey this looks super cool, do you think you could change the text colors too?
I always thought the MAG menu would look alot better if the text was mostly blue with maybe some white somewhere, instead of all white. Looks really nice already though

i hope cotulla and team dft don't get pissed by this. yes it's only hexediting but mgdlr is closed source and the software copyright and right for redistribution lies completely in the hands of cotulla. have you asked him for permission to change his work and release it publicly on the interwebs? don't get me wrong. i like the idea you had but it would simply be respectful to ask and not release it if he doesn't want it to be released or simply post some kind of tutorial.

You can edit it for your personal use, put post it in a public forum is totally another thing.
The worst thing is: magldr wouldn't get update anymore, cause authers were not respected.
Even you did make all credit to cotulla & DFT, copyright is still copyright(especially for those free cakes)...
All efforts to make improuvement should be appreciated, but please keep in the rule.

The bootloader can't be unlock at the moment. Asus is known for giving the tools to unlock the bootloader. So its matter of time to have the tools to unlock it.

Asus just released the unlock tool for the ZenFone 3 so the tool for the Deluxe can't be far off. Maybe this tool will work for the Deluxe??

Hey there I posted this under "rooted":
Hey, just went onto ASUS global & US website and saw that there is an unlock bootloader utility for the ZS550KL (updated 11-Nov-2016) but not one for the ZS570KL. Does this matter, since both phones are "Deluxe"? If not, any assistance to unlock bootloader and root the ZS570KL. Thanks!
Any help or feedback, greatly appreciated.

i wish i could do a test run, but sadly it's not on 5.7 yet and i asked asus about it, and haven't gone back to me yet on the issue.

Fairly new to rooting phones and this question is due to my inexperience, but if the phones are both considered "Zenfone 3 Deluxe" what does the size have to do with it? Thanks for explaining.

however this link here https://www.asus.com/Phone/ZenFone-3-Deluxe-ZS550KL/HelpDesk_Download/ (shows a bootloader unlock for the 5.5 version)
We need developers to jump on this darn phone and get it going somehow, if there is anyway possible to get their attention on it. I was able to tweak my phone a bit more with the startup manger (free) from google play to get more ram space.

5.5 has SD820 cpu, 5.7 has SD821... Would you try and use the other, untried method of unlocking if it may destroy your expensive little toy?

This is untrue. The 5.5 has the SD625, and the 64GB 5.7 has the SD820 and the 256GB 5.7" Special Edition has the SD821.
While it could be possible that a bootloader unlock tool for the SD820 could be used on the SD821 (but maybe not) because the architecture is essentially the same, an unlock tool for the SD625 most certainly would not be as it is a completely different processor.

I emailed Asus support and got this as a response:
Me: "When can the bootloader unlock utility be expected to be released?"
Them: "Unfortunately ASUS does not actually asssit with unlocking of the Android Bootloader. I must advise that you do so at your own risk, as once the boot loader is unloked it will void your warranty. But we will transfer customers' wishes to the related department for further development."
Edit: I prodded them further and received this in response:
"I have transferred your wish to our Product department, but temporary the accurate time the unlock tool for this Zenfone 3 Deluxe model would be released couldn't be ensured."
Which I believe means: 'We can't give an official release time yet.'

There is a "petition" in Asus 's Taiwan forum requesting an official bootloader unlocked tool and the thread is marked "under active review" by representative of Asus. No ETA is given though and the thread is in Chinese. If you are also interested and want to give it a little more push you could leave English message there.

Hey, thanks for the explanation. I did not even consider looking at the specs (chipset) to see if there was a difference between the 2 models. I just thought they were the same phone just size of screen difference and/or less storage. Forgot they also release a 820 model.

At least you can get to the heart of the menu of the recovery, just can't do much there either. Thanks to a lucky source right here.... been trying find out how to do this...

1.) Turn off phone completely
2.) press power button and volume down at same time and hold it untill you see an android logo with an "!" with the android logo that says "no command". when you see the logo release all buttons.
3.) Now, press and hold power button first and then quickly press volume Up. You will then see the options including wipe cache.

my zs550kl is two days new, I am upgraded to android 7.0 nougat it automaticly updated as soon as i got threw initial set up. so my problem is that it was no problem at all unlocking it useing the unlock tool from thread xda-developers Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & Other Development [DEV][ZS550KL][ZS570KL][ZS570KLPRO] Bootloader Unlock, Root & Busybox by adwinp First shot no problem unlocked my problem comes from the bootroot.img i think because i am 7.0 all ready. so is there a boot.img available for android 7.0? and if not can i downgrade back to the firmware specified in that post? any help would be awesome i suck at this stuff but i just cant help myself and i cant stand all the bloatware and asus is the worst one ive come across so far, such a nice device completely bogged down by a crappy UI.
