Anybody running a density other than 240 or stock 320? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

320 is too big and 240 is too small.
And I read using anything other than those will cause market compatibility issues ..correct?

I use 280, retains all the phone layouts. 240 was too small and made a few apps turn into tablet mode, which is more worse than better.
To fix market incompatibilities, buy:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.birdapi.android.dpipro
and apply the market fix, works great.

I feel quite comfortable with 246 (240 was causing some layout issues).
LCD Density Modder fix is great. I had some issues with previous releases, latest one fixed everything!

Do all your apps still show up in the market? Cause the market uses your density as part of the compatibility check to see what available for your phone.

Running 246 now. If the market works fine and shows me all apps im gonna keep bumping up.

Now some apps show up not compatible with this device.. I hate the market density check.

I like 260 myself. Market issues to deal with here as well... still, it's worth it if you ask me.

You can't modify your settings in stock launcher.
I'd recommend using Nova Launcher to change this (you can find it in the Themes & Apps section) change the Columns & Rows to your liking.
You can do this with any other launchers as well. Stock launcher has very limited options, so you can't change Columns & Rows.

ADWLauncher works great too. More options than nova as if now.

Anyone having problems with icons cropping in a wierd way?
On homescreen and dock. Using 260 DPI. Icons in drawer is perfect. Only homescreen and dock.
Any fixes?

To anyone who doesn't feel like buying an app to fix the Market, you might try this:
1. Set your DPI to something "normal" like 240 or 320.
2. Reboot.
3. Force close the Market app (if it's running) and clear its cache+data.
4. Using Titanium Backup, freeze the "Market Updater" application.
5. Set your DPI back to whatever you want.
6. Reboot.
7. Launch the Market.
I believe that will prevent the Market from seeing you have a non-standard DPI.

Using Go Launcher, 200 seems nice to me. It can affect apps, certain games look crappy. Most things seem to work well. The dialpad gets smaller as you increase density.

[Req] Swiftkey 3 Beta 240 dpi capable

I just downloaded the Swiftkey 3 Beta and it doesn't work properly with 240 dpi.
I want to know if anyone can patch the apk for 240dpi or if theres another way to get this working.
the galaxy nexus has 320 dpi not 240
I set it to 240 because it just looks better. That's why I want it to be patched (I'm sure I'm not the only one).
im in agreement with this. i tried going back to 320 but DAMN everything is huge.
It's working well for me at 241 dpi, if that's an option for you
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
what doesnt work at 240? Mine seems to look fine at 240
Don't forget you can change the key height in settings
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
I was having issues with dpi 240, do I went ahead and switched to 241 and it is working well. Tried to adjust the height in the options, but it still came up as a garbled mess.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
Are you using lcd density or the one built on the rom
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2 Beta-5
Works fine for me. I adjusted the keyboard height to large in it's settings menu. I'm running AOKP 30 at 240 dpi, changed the dpi using density modder app. Strange that it's not working for you.
Try using the tablet beta? That might work. The only difference should be the additional layout. I haven't installed it on my transformer yet but that should be it.
If I can get to a computer I can upload the apk for everyone.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA Premium App
The first time I launched it, it said something like "wrong version, try tablet version bla bla", but I set the key height to large and I am having absolutely no problems with it. I manually changed the LCD density in the build.prop to 240dpi, if that matters.
How do I downloaded the swiftkey 3 Beta? Thanks

If all he wants to do is add more slots, he should just use a 3rd party launcher instead of modding DPI and breaking Play Store downloads.
Adw launcher allows 10x10

That's misinformation. I have installed LCD Density Modder and have been running with dpi set for 241. My play store works normally as do all apps I have installed. It works and is easy. I'm on the latest build of AOKP.

Lower dpi?

I set my dpi on this phone to 240 and I LOVE it and the market still works fine so far! Just wondering how i can mod the dialer/camera to fit the 240 dpi. And also the stock keyboard dosent work but i dont care much about that i use swiftkey 3.
Shame the standard keyboard doesn't work, I really like it.
As to the dialer? hmm, probably need to get a replacement for that too, shame it doesn't scale either. Someone can probably hack the .apk to allow different dpi's perhaps?
What app did you use to change your density it would be cool to do that with this ginormous screen

Change the value for ro.sf.lcd_density in the build.prop. You can do this with apps like ROM Toolbox Pro.
I was running 240 as well, and loved it but the camera, dialer and Samsung keyboard issues bugged me enough to go back to 320.
I have mine set at 270 and everything, including dialer and camera works great.

use a different launcher. I use nova
So no suggestions for dialers or camera mods that fix the scaling issues. They are better at 270 but not perfect.
Check this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2001143
it's on the Sprint Note II forum but I flashed them and they all work well.
soapbox23, what rom are you using? I am on Jexi-X4 and it doesnt work...
Found this rom:

Works very well at 240 dpi, it has most of the system apps fixed that dont scale well. Need to flash keyboard zip in the QA page though for 240 dpi.

[Q] What dpi are you using ?

I'm running 240 dpi (stock is 320) the note 2 has a great screen but isn't utilised my 320 dpi.
To run in 240dpi mode I did this.
You must be rooted.
Download texdroider dpi from play store.
You also need exposed
Download app settings module from exposed.
Open app settings
Change the following
Calculator
camera
contacts
photo editor
radio
voice recorder
Gallery
Click the one you want to change
At the top of the screen slide the toggle switch to the right to activate it.
Enter 320 for the dpi
Form the drop down box for screen dp pick 800x1280
Click on save on the top right.
Do this for all apps in the list and for any other apps that fc or don't fit the screen in 240 dpi mode.
Download apex launcher and import your current launcher settings (so you keep all your folders / icons) (touchwiz launcher doesn't work in 240dpi but apex looks and acts the same)
Open texdroider and enter 240 for new dpi.
Hit apply then reboot phone.
Your phone is in 240 dpi mode.
You can now change the amount of icons you want on your home screen as well as other settings for apex launcher.
7 icons down and 6 across works best for me.
(the settings i changed in apex settings are
homescreen
portrait grid 7x6
icon size 110%
Dock settings
icon size 130%
Advanced settings
keep in memory ticked)
You can also download play store fixes for exposed to submit a normal density to google play store
I also have apex notifier and missed it for notifications
I think that's everything
