Hi, everyone,
What is the root you would recommend: juggernaut, odin or... else? What version?

odin is what you use to root
juggernaut is the custom rom you can install after rooting
Just flash recovery in Odin. Then any rooted ROM in cwm.now your rooted.
From a glaxay better than yours.
My recommendation....ginger.
My setup is:
ROM - Juggernaut 4.1
Kernel - Faux .007u
OC - OC Deamon with -75000 UV Script
Deamon settings: Sleep 192MHz Min/540MHz Max - Conservative Gov
Wake 192MHz Min/1.566GHz Max - OnDemand Gov
ROM is smooth, fast and I get pretty good battery life.
Would you be THAT kind to post all detailed steps, from A to Z (including backing up the original rom before proceeding) on how you got it to that state?
Many thanks in advance!

Sorry, I will not post step by step instructions, you will have to use the search function but I will help point you in the right direction.
First go here and take head.
Second, go here (Read and Learn), here (to learn everything about rooting and flashing) and here (List of everything available on the forum).
Here is a list of what I have installed. DO NOT JUST GO AND FLASH. Read what I posted first so you don't mess your phone up.
ROM i'm using.
Kernel I'm using.
OC Daemon or overclocking.
Daemon Controler (in post 2 of this page)to set your frequencies. You can also use the app recommended in the OC Daemon thread.
Here is the undervolt script. Once everything else is finished place this in /system/ect/init.d folder and reboot.
Here's the biggest part, ready? MAKE SURE TO THANK EVERY SINGLE PERSON THAT HAS HELPED YOU IN EVERY WAY! I.E. THANK THE DEV'S AND PEOPLE WHO DID WRITE UP'S!!!
I just went through this, and as a noob I can offer my opinion on the choices to make.

The link above has you installing SU 3.0.5, but if have the latest Samsung update (2.3.6 and wi-fi calling), then you're supposed to install SU 3.0.7. If you don't have the latest Samsung update, I recommend that you get it before proceeding. I used this guide to root (includes download links):
http://androidforums.com/galaxy-s2-t-mobile-all-things-root/467128-telus-galaxy-s2-t989d-ultimate-root-optimization-guide-steps.html
Once you've installed recovery and you're rooted, you can play around with all the ROMs if you want. I was very conservative at first and I installed Mr. X's stock ROM that is basically just rooted and has Carrier IQ removed (which was my initial motivation to root). But once you get the bug, you gotta keep fiddling, so I looked into getting something that increased features and performance. I noticed the comments in the ROM threads either grumbling or praising developer about updates. Sometimes developers move on to other projects or have more important things in life to take care of. I noticed that people were praising the Juggernaut team for staying on top of things and quickly applying their developments to Samsung's recent 2.3.6 update, so that sold me on Juggernaut 4.1. Then in search of better performance and battery life I started reading the kernel threads, and decided on faux123's kernel and GideonX's overclocking/undervolting script (with a few tweaks). Now I'm pretty happy with my setup.

After doing a ton of reading to get myself up to speed, I would say that if you need your hand held to do this, it's not for you. If you're not willing to search and read tons of pages to start gaining a basic understanding of the various components and standard procedures, you're going to be skirting disaster (or finding it), and you will probably annoy people with your questions. It's not hard, you just need to read a well-written guide, and have good attention to detail. But beyond that, you should read as much of a ROM's thread as you can to understand the questions and issues that people have. I usually read the first page, then go to the end and work backwards. It can be a little tedious, but once you get your phone all tweaked out, it's very satisfying. Good luck.

this has nothing BOCA rom. just use the manual installation.
BOCA rom and not work on my gt-p1000n
You may want to go ahead and reword the installation process than, as it makes it appear you are using BOCA parts.
I also still don't understand if this a p1000 ROM or a p1000N ROM.
If it is a p1000N ROM you should put that in your title. The words [MOD] aren't really needed. Just some words of advice to help people find this.

EDIT/UPDATE:
this is not "cm7"
this rom is labeled wrong!!
it is a 2.3_r4 XWJPA release.
who actually made this rom is still up for grabs, but the one quoted in my responce is in no way aosp or based off of Cyanogen. In other words, not related to BOCA or cyanogen.
please rename away from the phrase CM7
i apologize for entering your thread, but i am sure you, and everyone else, can see where the concern comes from
The OP:
Who made the battery and system notifications?
Is this just a copy of overcome?
isnt it available on teamovercomes website?
Is that Humburos' kernel?
Did you port?
Where is the full credits or features?

or permissions?

ORIGINAL POST:
Is this a repackaged unofficial beta cm7 port from tek?
Or is it a repackaged BOCA?
(Since BOCA is the only one that works currently on p1000l/n. teks older unavailable version did, but no available anymore, I am sure this is VERY important information)
We would be VERY interested to know details
Did you port?

I have received multiple questions regarding this thread.
And can see the concern written publicly in this thread.
People are concerned BOCA has been violated and parts of it are in your work.
I am downloading it now, and will open to take a look.
Just to ease my mind, so to speak.
Totally agree with diz
Your rom really looks like a themed overcome kratos, bad boy.
I have some scripts that I wrote for LG Optimus S to do a fully automated root/unroot of the stock ROM.
I adapted them to work with the Samsung Epic 4G Touch.
This would root the phone using your EXISTING stock ROM. No need to use ODIN or mess with custom recoveries, kernels, or ROMs.
Everything would be your existing stock (ROM, zImage-kernel+initramfs, etc), except you'd have ROOT, so it shouldn't suffer from LOS (unless you had LOS with stock to start with)
Looking for feedback. If there is any interest I can clean it up and post the package.
EDIT:
Here you go:

Let me know if there are any problems and I will try and fix them quickly.

I could see interest in something like this.
I recall multiple threads asking "will the epic touch ever get a more conventional root?" so if you can pull it off I could definitely see the demand.
I remember reading about this root method on the AC forums. I wouldn't be interested myself, as I want more from a rooted device, but I'd imagine there would be a reasonable number of people who only want root for wifi tethering and certain apps that require it and don't care about custom recovery and kernels/ROMs.
Ill be the first to test it.

I don't think it's too confusing, I just don't want to have to flash ANYTHING to get root. I have had ZERO problems with my phone. Not a single LOS, no random game closes, nothing. I don't want to risk flashing a kernel, even the stock pulled, and potentially stirring something up and having to deal with LOS and whatever else. Not worth it to me.

Assuming you install "adb" on Mac, you can use the (included) manual rooting instructions (see Reference Section B)
It should be much simpler than other manual instructions as you still are getting 95% of the automation through scripts. Just a little typing to kick things off.
I would test it.

Probably not a big deal for many folks on XDA, but this method will NOT trigger the Yellow Triangle nor will it increase your ODIN flash count.
There are, of course, ways to address those annoyances when using other methods.
There is a software fix for yellow triangle which should account for most sprint stores but I always welcome more solutions

I found a conventional root. Google "doomlord root" or http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...-anything-try-doomlords-easy-rooting-toolkit/
It works perfectly for the epic touch. No flashing required. I used it because i wanted full control but loved stock.

https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=317349
I'll post more info later (I'm short on time but said I'd get this uploaded today.)
all you really need to know to make it work is in the original thread. Just use these Optimus V files instead of the ones in Tasssadar's post.
I'll edit this and the second post later with more specific instructions.
FYI: This is not a ROM. This is a recovery, and flashable overlay for your boot.img which allow booting from roms on sd-ext or from internal memory.
Please read the original thread before using.
More later! Enjoy.
Oh, yeah.
Standard disclaimer: Flashing your phone may cause bricking.
Don't blame me, or Tasssadar... Just take proper precautions. As the original thread says, BACKUP! Also, never flash a ROM and recovery at the same time, make sure the first works before you flash the second.
extra info:
you can't mix froyo and gingerbread ROMS unless you flash a Xionia or Xionia Redux anykernel over your boot.img first.
The multiROM uses the boot.img kernel for all the installed ROMs, and most kernels are made for either froyo or gingerbread but not both. Xionia kernels are the only exception to that rule I'm aware of.
I'll link to the xionia kernels later, for now it's just a short warning.
Yay, my old login still works! Downloading now, will test and report on both forums.
Edit:: Just saw my post count. Wowsers! I knew I was a lurker but two and half years and this is my first post here!?
Thanks alot for porting this over to the OV! I'm going to test it out as soon as I have an hour or two. Should make things easier when debugging new builds.

unfortunately I'm even wordier than Tasssadar, so when i eventually get time to rewrite the directions and add them to post 2, they probably won't be much more user-friendly.

just run the roms like you usually would, and post anything that doesn't work right (unless, of course that item is broken in the rom itself)

FAQ
Q Where can I download and How do I install?
A You can find the links to download and Installation instructions here. Pay close attention to this post, everything required for a successful flash is listed right here. If you fail to follow the instructions or meet the requirements for installation, you could run into some problems.
Q What are the known issues with this ROM?
A Right now there doesn’t appear to be any specific to this ROM. List will be updated as issues are found.
Q Are there any mods/tweaks available for this ROM?
A Yes, Just about any tweak pack will work. I recommend Comadose by Goddly. Grab it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2188416
Q How’s battery life?
A I see this question asked repeatedly across all ROMS. Honestly there is no way to give you an answer based on a ROM. There are too many variables in question and results vary from user to user and device to device. Battery life is going to depend on age and condition of your battery, your use habits with your device, installed apps, tweaks, settings, etc...
Q How do I make a nand recovery?
A There is a very informative thread created by Timmetal6669 found here

I had no custom recovery so i used mobile odin (i don't have a pc) to flash garwynn's custom kernel ( http://www.sxtpdevelopers.com/showthread.php?t=119 ) so i can run agat's cr. Well now i have random power downs and gps failure. I have not been able to play ingress in over a week and its driving me nuts!!!
I just wanted to run this by more knowledgeable individuals. In theroy (until confirmed), since the kernel is a safe kernel, i can jump straight outta ICS. I am wanting to load ProjectX ROM ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2320041 ). It requires a clean flash. [q] Since mobile odin can flash from internal SD and i lack computer, can i not move all my pics, vids, personal files (etc...) to my external SD, remove it, then flash clean?
noob alert: everything i have ever done in the root world is in this post
5min between posts?!?!? I just wanna edit this one!!! grr
What gives? Do i need to put "[q]" in the title?
I drive a cab and kinda rely on my gps. I can manage, with just my map; but i miss my navi!
Can you put a custom recovery?

It is running agat's custom recovery from kernel targeted by first link on op.
If you have access to a computer I would highly recommend starting with this-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2216606

More stock stuff? Sheeesh, why am i rooting? This beautiful sounding ROM was developed by your team! Why the discouragement? And, as i said before, i do not have a computer. How come no one will just answer the question? I am a strong person and can take criticism, if that is what i needed. Is your projectX ROM not safe/ideal?!?!? Sorry man, Im just baffled you would discourage use of your own products. Am i missing something? Confused
Sorry for sounding stubborn but, i really wanna try that ROM. Im just saying, if i wanted to stay stock, i would have never researched my way to xda. All the op details were so i can be thorough. The actual question was about the internal (clean) flash. I mean, should i not try your ROM?
If you read the first post in the thread you would see the instructions on how to install... and the first step is upgrading to the official upgrade because this creates the Preload partition, it is a necessary step. Not discouraging you from using Project X at all, I am about to release an update soon. I just want you to be aware of the proper procedure so things don't go wrong. The first post in the Project X thread has all the steps you need along with links to all the files you need.
Oh my god! I am sooo sorry i read that the wrong way! I feel like anass now! My apologies.
Yeah, i read about the partition change from ICS. So, using your link to upgrade and fix partitions would make for a smooth projectX installation? Does that mean i don't have to clean flash, since Im not coming from ICS?

Thank you for all your help. This, in particular, helped me out the most. Without knowing what to expect, I got a bit worried when there was no boot after el29 kernel flash. Limited computer access kinda snailed the process. Once i was up, i had to do the "clear data" on play store and its framework, in order to download anything. I lost your custom store but, I'm running! I am really enjoying all the green! I love the Pandora lock screen and the starry boot animation and the....... I'm sure I'll find tons more, in due time!
