When setting the time and date, the device does not show the different time zone in the "Home" & "visiting" areas in spite of the fact that one is set GTM+1 and the other GTM+2
Both show the same time.
Any ideas/help how to set it correctly?
I have a Tilt 2 from AT&T running Windows Mobile 6.5. I got it in October.
Sometimes my phone's clock will get behind, displaying a time that is an hour or more off. This morning, for example, I had the phone's alarm set for 9am. I woke up at 10am. When I looked at my phone, the clock displayed 8:30am. I power cycled it and it displayed the correct time.
My apartment has lousy cell reception, and I often have no signal at all when inside. Does this phone/OS rely on the cellular network to know what time it is?
Has anyone experienced similar behavior? Does anyone know if there is a fix for this?
I don't think I can trust my phone to wake me up until I find a way to fix this.
Does this happens when syncing Rhodium with pc?
or it happens even without sync?
The phone does rely on the network to keep time updated.
You could always turn off the automatic updating of the time. That may help.
1. Go to: Settings > Personal > Phone > Time Zone
2. Uncheck: Automatic change time zone and clock.
See if that helps.

I don't sync my phone with PC, and I don't have any push notifications activated.

Turned off auto-updates as you suggested. Now we wait and see. Thanks for the suggestion.

Clock falls behind, can't find the automatic settings
For the second time now, I experienced the same problem, where my clock on the Tilt 2 was behind. This time it was during the night and it was off by about 3 hours, and even missed the date change. The first time it was something around an hour. I don't know what's worse, because with the long time you know it's wrong when it's light outside and the time says it shouldn't.
The phone wasn't hot either, so, as far as I know it wasn't busy doing something else. The cell reception was fine here, and I was not syncing. To correct the problem, I looked for the setting to automatically set the time, based on the network. It's not off by precisely one or more hours, so it doesn't look like a timezone itself. Note that I have TouchFlo disabled, and I use the Windows 6.5 Today screen, so it might be a bit different. I looked through several settings beside the clock, but can't find it. Unless it's one and the same of course.
Any idea what could be causing this? Thanks for the powercycle tip.
I disabled what prjkthack said, I needed also to disable the sync option from Sense. This works for 'My Location' but screws other world clocks. Looks like a sort of 'base' clock is set wrong...
i have this issue with the tp and the hd2 both with energyrom.
att tilt 2 clock and date off when updated to new stock rom
hi iam having the same problems with my time and date being wrong everytime i softreset. the minutes usually always seem to be right but a couple hours off always and then you have to go in and manually set the clock. i also had to set the date when i softreset. i tried the my location button, didnt work. also called htc and talked to someone who said the time did have to be set manually, but i really dont think he knew what he was talking about. and it should have exact time from network and sat/gpr connections or even wifi? stange
Interesting. It appears that we might be fighting two different problems then. One that is a timezone offset (i.e. the minutes are the same, but the hours are off), and a full stall of the clock (with the time being off a random amount of hours and minutes).
clock advances one hour every night
Hi,
I have a similar problem with my clock: every night the clock advances one hour. If I do not correct the time, it will be two hours in advance after two nights.
This is since the night, where the daylight saving time ended.
Can anyone help?
I've had my phone over 6 months and two days ago it started having issues with keeping the correct time...
Odd indeed.
Maybe it's ATT causing the problem?
Go into Settings/Personal/Phone, then click the GSM/UTMS services tab. Click on "Time Synchronization", then Get Settings. If the "automatic change time zone & clock" box is checked, uncheck it.
That turns off the synchronization of the Tilt2's clock with the cell network, so that you can synch the time yourself. There are some third-party programs that will let you synch off a NTP server or the phone's GPS receiver -- I use Julien Schapman's Time Synchronizer.
It's not a att thing. I have the same problem since last week. I'm in Argentina and a couple of years ago we had daylight saving time. And the last year we had it we must change it on december 27th (the day it started to change in my phone in 2010. Now everytime i activesync with my pc it advaces 1 hour.
It's really annoying. And fyi my setting have disable automatic change timezone and clock!!
I don't know what to do
Cheers and happy new year
Ignacio
I'm in Argentina too, and having the same problem as Ignacio. The only thing I can add is that my Tilt2 started having this problem right after returning from Uruguay, which by the way, they are one hour ahead of us. My girlfriend has the same phone but she did not activate it while in Uruguay and she is not having this problem.
I really doubt it is just a Sync problem. I've tried every possible configuration and nothing. I wish it would be that simple.
We need a good chef for this one...

Or just install a ROM that doesn't have this issue (included this fix).
Hey guys,
I just flashed my T-Mobile Dash Black with EVO's latest WM 6.5 ROM
However, I can't get the time and date to sync automatically via the network
Can someone help me out?
Did this work before with the old ROM? I have never seen this happen actually on any of my devices. Usually they are time-synced from the PC via the AS connection - which only happens if you establish a partnership and not in guest mode.
I've seen this happen on other phone models after flashing to a rom not provided by your carrier. For example, I once flashed an old Samsung phone that had Tmobile ROM to a generic Samsung ROM that had more features. The old ROM would sync the time with Tmobile whenever phone was reset or at regular intervals (I have no idea what intervals, 24 hrs, 1 week?). The new ROM, in spite of having entered all the correct settings for GPRS/WAP and selecting 'automatically update date/time' couldn't synchronize.
I suspect there's some 'magic code' carriers have in their ROMs to enable this but I haven't been able to find any info regarding this since I flashed that phone back in 2003! I purchased a Samsung SGH-720, a tri-band GSM carrier unlocked phone that also couldn't sync the date/time in spite of enabling the option.
Since you're running a modded ROM you'll have to rely on a third-party time sync app. There's a freeware one by SKTools called TSync. It's nothing fancy and won't automatically sync - you have to manually run the app but it works! I changed my date and time to incorrect values and TSync corrected both. Maybe someone else can recommend a good time sync app, preferably free
Two caveats - First, it doesn't know how to initiate an internet connection on EDGE/GPRS - it will give you a 'resource not found' error. Use IE or whatever just to establish a web connection, exit, then run TSync and it will sync with various NIST time servers. They can be edited with the included TSynccfg. Second, you obviously need to have a data plan. With the carrier provided roms no data plan is need to sync date/time.
I would really like to know how the carrier roms time sync - I used to have a Moto Razor V3 that would automatically sync and this was before I had a data plan!
Actually, my problem was fixed after I rebooted the phone.
I've noticed that with 3VO's 6.5 ROM you almost need to reboot the phone everytime you change certain phone settings and/or certain UI settings.
Which is nothing more than an inconvenience, buts it fixed now.
Thanks for the replies.
I am surprised that after months and fifteen pages of Galaxy Tab S discussion no one has asked this question yet. On a 16GB wifi-only T800 model running the stock 4.4.2 Kit Kat OS, where is the option for the automatic network time synchronization?
I am looking under Settings > General > Date and Time
There is no option for automatic or network time sync. There is only a possibility to set time manually. I could post a screenshot if you wish.

Ya I noticed this too on my sm-t700 I just set the time and forgot about it
Well afaik network time sync refers to synchronising the time with a local network cell tower. If you only have wifi you cant possibly sync with the network.
However i do agree that it could easily be achieved via an internet ntp server, but that would be a different option to select and seeing as you can do this by simply installing an app, i guess the choice is left to the user.
Just got my 8.4 wifi yesterday. Opened it up, booted up, and once I connected to my home wifi the time & date auto set. I didn't have to do anything.
ingenious247, perhaps the 8.4 model comes without this issue.
ashyx,
I am personally think that the lack of option for NTP time setting should be treated like a bug. A lot of network protocols and applications rely on time being set accurately. I think nearly every network connected OS for the last 20 years had an NTP client (don't know about Win 95, but NT4 should have certainly had it). Installing a third party app does not correct this issue because you still need to root the device to make this work. I will try to break through Samsung technical support in order to report this as a bug.
Moved to Q&A
Please post questions in the correct section.
After having a few quick searches, it seems like Android does now use NTP for time synchronization, and so this is not a Samsung specific issue. Supposedly the models with GPS receivers can query the NTP servers, but I don't know if they use that information for setting time or something else. Oh well. I guess I might root my device to install a third party app for NTP support.
Hi,
I am in the UK. I have a Philips 48PFT5500 tv. For the last few years it has been displaying the correct time. But a few weeks ago started displaying the time as one hour ahead of the actual time (currently British Summer Time). Also the tv guide shows all the correct programmes but the timings are one hour ahead. I don't know what happened to cause this problem.
I checked the settings under "Settings/Region and Language/Auto Clock Mode", and it is set to "Automatic". I tried changing it to "Country Dependent" but it made no difference. Also I tried changing the tv guide data setting ("Settings/General Settings/Advanced/TV Guide") from "From the Broadcaster" to "From the Internet" but that made no difference to the displayed programme timings.
Does anybody know how I can get it to display the correct time?
a
What time shows teletext, if any in this model?
It does have teletext. I tried it but unfortunately it is not working. The teletext page just shows a black screen with the page number at the top. I can change the page number but it doesn't show any text. I haven't tried the teletext for a long time so I don't know when it stopped working.
You can manually set the time. There is a manual about it. Site 72.
Thanks. I have manually set the time. Hopefully it will remain fairly accurate.
Strangely, in the manual it mentions that under "Auto Clock Mode > Country Dependent", there is a Daylight Saving option. However my TV does not have this option. Also the manual mentions that under "Region and Language > Clock", there is a Time Zone option. Again, my TV does not have this option.
This does not surprise me at all. Manufacturers sell different versions of the same model depending on the market. The manual is standard and/or often does not keep up with firmware changes.
Strangely, even if I manually set the time, it reverts to "Auto Clock Mode > Automatic".
I manually set the time a couple of days ago, but now it has re-set itself to Automatic, and is again one hour ahead of the actual time.

Hi, my philips has been doing the same since i purchased it, i set the time and the next day its changed to 1 or 2 hours depending on the time zone, my hunch is that i have an iptv app that keeps changing the time itself, have you installed any apps since this time issue started?
I had a bit of a similar problem with my TCL smart tv before.
My auto sync date and time is always incorrect which blocks my Youtube app and if I set my date and time manually it will always reset to automatic after a power cycle.
In the end it fixed itself and my auto sync date and time became correct. I encountered the problem after I switched ISP so I think it originated and was also fixed in their system.

The only app I installed before this problem started was the Google Play Services app. (I still have the issue with the time on my TV.)

The problem may also be created by the device from which you get Internet on TV.
