Almost every time I open the gallery app it takes what feels like forever to load my albums. I have TWO albums, camera pics and another of some backgrounds.
Less than 300 pics in camera, with a couple of videos, and about 20 in the other album.
I've disabled Google picture sync and instant upload so I don't see the picasa albums.
Does anyone else have this problem? It's been doing it for weeks, maybe longer, (had the phone since uk launch day). Pretty annoying when I go to show someone a pic on my big shiny phone only to hold it with the spinning loading circle for 30 seconds with them saying "nice new fast phone".
I'm on stock 4.0.1

Use Quickpic in the market...the stock 3d gallery has always been slow...
What if I prefer stock gallery app ? Would rather find out why gallery takes so long to list albums, if its like this for everyone then surely it's broken?

I have 22 albums. Most of them have at least 40 images the largest has 66. They load instantly.
Andoid 4.0.3 AOKP
Did UK not get the 402 update yet?
Maybe try dividing your albums.

Don't really want to split the albums, galley 3d worked fine on my rooted desire and I had 600+ pics in the camera folder on that.
Nope, I haven't had 4.0.2 yet, still on 4.0.1 with the volume bug fix
Will have to use quickpic for now until I get updates and see if they help I guess.

After having used QuickPic for a while, it blows my mind that anybody could prefer the stock gallery app. How in the world could you possibly prefer the stock gallery? QuickPic is so much better...
I used to use quickpic for a long time on my desire, I have nothing against it, it is quick and works well. I just like the look of the gallery app, along with side scrolling.
Different tastes and all that remember

The stock ICS gallery is perfectly fine.
Quickpic looks out dated and ugly, like something from HTC.

Form over function is idiotic.
Quickpic does what it should. Default Gallery never has.
I have lots of albums and photos, stock gallery app loads all of them instantly without any issues.
Am using AOKP 4.0.3 custom rom.

Stock Gallery works fine, until it doesn't!
Can you select which folders to include/exclude with the stock Gallery yet?
Something wrong with your phone. I have 2000+ pictures in 20 different albums. It loads instantly. This is along with another 1500+ pictures synced with Picasa.
I also have Quickpix but I only use it to do some batch operations. It looks really crappy and outdated.

I'm having the same issue. Stock gallery app loads super slow, takes close to a minute to show any images. I'm using quickpic until I figure out the issue, but I also prefer the stock gallery for normal image viewing. Any ideas?

OK here's my problem I have about 10 movies on my phone and probably 15 videos for my kids if they get bored. The question is they all have a black screen in the gallery and there just is no easy way to see what each video is. Is there a way of putting a title under each, like what you get for each of the apps in your app drawer. If not is there a way to put a pic on the file to see what it is in the gallery. Thanks for the help

Is there a ROM with 4.03 that has a Facebook contact sync enabled please??
Gummynex has it I believe a few others do too. Its in most of the changelogs
+1 for gummy. It also has the best battery life I have experienced and zero force closes

AOKP is a good one too.

Slightly related question..
How good is this sync feature? Are the pictures high resolution? This might make me root, I've been on the fence for ages.
Alternatively you could use the HaxSync app from the market, if you trust third party. I use it, seems OK for hi-res contact photos from Facebook.
EDIT: I am on stock ICS, unrooted, etc.

Photos are NOT high res, use HaxSync for that - very good app
Facebook sync works great with AOKP. The contact pics do not appear to be high res though :/
Since everybody knows that GS3 has quite a few problems with the stock application, i wonder what would you suggest being the best camera app available around?
I have to say that i tried so far quite a few:
Camera ICS+ - not impressed at all. Seems like the photos come out more blurry than they would using the default camera app
lgcamera pro - really buggy, but has a lot of potential in my view
camera360 - pretty good considering it is free, but not without it's issues
camera zoom fx - which i find the best, because it seems to take it's time to focus and the photos do come out a little bit better. Also, nice stabilization feature.
ProCapture - Camera & Panorama - produced a few good shots too
Try this one.. There is a free and paid edition... Worth the money.. Makes great pictures..

I have this same HDR app. Takes really cool pictures, especially for pictures outside in the daylight!

Remote Viewfinder is the best camera application for my galaxy s3. By using this app we will be able to control focus, geotagging, focus, timer, flash and photo size all from the app
Try "procapture" coupled with "photo gallery(fish bowl)" .
Buy "procapture" and take some pictures in different environment.then return it within the 15 min window.
Check the pictures u have taken and be amazed.
Photo gallery is free.
Been using "procapture" for 5 month and nothing comes close to this camera.
Fast burst and panorama supported.video not

As today Facebook app got a new update but I still feel that it's not quite good enough because of very slow speed, old UX& ... (as the app always was)
I'd like to know which app you use for Facebook recently.
I've tried Scope beta for few weeks, love the idea but still buggy and slow.
Thanks for sharing guys!

Same.. I haven't had an issue with it for ages.. It does what it's supposed to do.
I just go to facebook.com, looks just like PC version that way.
Facebook app is fine its smooth and fast no lag for me whatsoever
It takes 10-20 seconds of a black screen before it loads, but after that it works fine.
The problem i have is with its widget, i sometimes get a blank widget or it doesnt update.
Anyone with those issues??
I use flipboard for facebook, I really like the magazine format.
What's up with the Facebook website and Android? The input fields don't allow your dictionary to work and gets all screwy trying to type and backspace. It does this on any browser I've tried.
I just use Android Pro Widgets to use the Facebook and Twitter widgets for feeds, and click through to Facebook occasionally for notifications and IMs. I don't need instant notification about anything related to Facebook.

No issues here with the Facebook app. Loads in less than 2 seconds. Now on my phones it is a different story. They haven't ran it right in a year or so.
No problems here, more speed is needed with all apps to support Nexus 7 Quadcore CPU

There is a reason Facebook is working on a native app for Android and already did for iOS. Our current app is an HTML5 based slow piece of trash..,

I deleted facebook app ,using default cm10 browser is much faster..on a 20mbt internet i wait for 4-5 seconds and more for a 50kb picture to show, that app after 1000 updates is still bad joke.I left app only on my phone because of push notificafions but i dont use it.

Friend caster is pretty nice. Dual panel layout and everything. One problem with the official Facebook app is that it took so long for it to start up like 20 seconds for a black screen then another ten on the splash screen. Completely ridiculous. I heard they forced their employees to use android phones instead of I phones just to make them feel the crap they made for android.

Am I missing it or something because I cant figure out how to show my picasa pics in the gallery.
I also remember this feature from previous android phones, including all past Galaxy phones. I wonder why they took it out.
I remember back on another device, a certain asop ROM didnt have it and I had to use an alternative gallery from the play store. I think 3d gallery or something

Yeah I am thinking of going with Quickpic.
It's a shame Samsung took this feature out.
