Gallery is soooooo slllllooooooow [Why?] - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

When I open the gallery app, it takes 10+ seconds to display my albums. Is this just how it is and I need to get used to it, or is something going on?

Do you have a million pictures?

I guess I do have a lot of pictures. I didn't think it would take that long every time I open the Gallery app, though. Would pinning all the albums for offline help?

the more albums you have the slower it loads, if most of your albums are online, and judging by your second post they are, then it'll take even longer, depending on your connection, to load.
making them offline would help, but still if you have a lot of pictures it's just going to take time.
i have 16 albums, with 6 being online, and my app loads in maybe 2-5 seconds.

[Q] Camera app on G2 often won't show pictures taken

Not sure if this is a common problem. I couldn't find anything on the interwebs indicating that others are having this issue frequently.
It seems like my Camera application will almost never allow me to see the pictures that I've taken. When I tap on the picture preview it just goes to a blank screen. If I hit slideshow, it momentarily tries to take me to the slideshow and then bounces me right back.
Sometimes after force closing it with the system monitor app a few times will eventually let me see previews.
It's pretty infuriating that it does this and I have no idea what would cause it. I'm thinking about buying Vignette, but in my opinion the stock camera should work.
Any ideas?
You know what I just noticed - it appears to be the gallery app and not the camera app. Anyone else have this problem with Gallery?
It is most likely a media scan issue with the gallery (sometimes my pictures take a long time to show up on their own as well).
You can either reboot the phone or use an app to rescan media. There are a bunch out there (search market for rescan or scan media). Or if you are running CM6, you can choose the function in the built-in Dev Tools app. Tasker also has this function built in if you wanted to set up something like forcing a rescan every time you exit the Camera app.

Gallery/Camera problem ..

I take a picture, and then select the photo at the bottom of the camera screen.. it opens the gallery, then is VERY slow.. often I can't pinch & zoom, or select a sharing icon.. then suddenly the multi screen sometimes turns on. I though maybe it's because the tv icon at the top of the photo is showing 9+ meaning that's it's found 9 devices to share my photo too.. I thought maybe that is slowing it down. I tried turning off allshare cast, but can't seem to keep it off. I don't even know if that is even what it is. Frustrating. Not sure if that even made sense?
Anyone else having a gallery bog down like this?
thanks.

What is the Android version that you're using? 4.1.1? I'm using 4.1.2 and I have the same issue, but it feels more like a bug than an actual issue. I hope Samsung fixes this in the next 4.1.2 release.
I noticed the gallery lags terribly if I have photos that sync to it (Dropbox or FB sync to gallery) so I turned those off and it was lagless.
Other than that, I have no idea what could be the issue.

I know this is an old thread, but I was suddenly having the same issue. Turning off Dropbox sync seems to have solved it. Thanks for the tip.

Gallery freeze when selecting pic from camera

anyone else get this randomly? I'll take a pic, then I'll hit the little icon in the bottom left to go into gallery, and sometimes it just hangs for like 15 seconds. can't do anything, can't even hit back, can only hit home. eventually it unsticks and will do every command you did while it was frozen (like if you hit the 3 dot menu button 4 times while frozen, when it unfreezes it'll do it 4 times etc.)
pretty annoying. didn't do this when I first got the phone but started happening a lot lately, 2 months in.

Same issue here. Usually takes anywhere from 10-20 seconds to open the pic in gallery from the camera.
Edit: Just cleaned up my DCIM folder (Move photos to month divided folders on the sdcard) and now it takes only 1-2 seconds to open photo from camera into gallery. See if that helps resolve your issue.
Ditto. Same here.

Camera weirdness

My 5x will take pictures on it's own in the middle of the night. They are dark, blank as the room is dark. sometimes 10-15 pics and videos of a very short length- 5-15 seconds. I am not rooted, store pictures in stock Google Photos, back up to Picasa and also have Moments installed. Any ideas? Thanks.
Move out of your house immediately!

Sacrifice your sleep for a night and stay up watching your phone, and doing something fun ofc, and you will see if its a demon, system bug, or your little bro/kid.
This happened to me too

Hello, the exact same thing happened to me to at night when my phone's flash was used while taking pictures. It happened a lot of times. Then i figured that if i take snaps from my phone while my phone's battery is <20% it results in darker images but no that wasn't the case. I don't know why it happened. Sometimes i can't see a thing on my phone after taking a picture and sometimes the image is darker and sometimes it's normal.
And one more thing....what if i told you i take picture from my Nexus 5X and the picture gets instantly deleted without doing anything
I even made a video of it

Which one are you talking about?
Hi! I have the exact same problem with any custom rom (nitrogen os and purenexus). Could you find a solution?

Problems with Gallery, GPS, slow SD card reading, Video recording, home not loading

after using this phone for 3 months, here are the problems I have found.
After every reboot, sorting of images in my gallery change. Most recent pictures and on top. they just get mixed and match. I use a SanDisk SD card. nothing is in order, I mean nothing. This is the thing I hate the most.
Gallery app updates itself pretty slowly, after taking a photo, it takes about 4 minutes to find that pic. in twitter app.

GPS is not a mess, it is mostly a punishment by a higher being. cursor flips other sides, it requires calibration all the time, when I turn right, it turns to left or doesn't even move. Sometimes it works, sometimes it works backward. This GPS losing me time every single day. Shame on you Xiaomi

it takes I'm not kidding, 10 minutes for my phone to load 200GB SanDisk card with 60gb data in it.
To boot the phone back from a reboot, I need to take the sim tray off, otherwise, the home-screen doesn't show up, I just see my wallpaper for 5 minutes. Even though the app I'm going to lunch is stored internally (let's say twitter) I cannot launch it before the sd card loads completely.
-
video recording option on the main camera app makes the phone freeze and brick. Yeah, just wanting to record a video bricked my one once. it was awesome. Had to format everything and start over.
-
Backspace key lags, sometimes doesn't recognize when typing fast. Not sure why, it is very odd.
Rooted with magist, TWRP using the stock ROM.
running Android 9, 128gb lavender
