How can I get Sprint TV to work on CM7? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I'm currently on CM7 and am wanting to watch tv but it isn't wanting to.. It says no current subscription. Any suggestions?

Do you use Titanium BackUp? If not get the free version, nandroid into a TouchWiz rom and back up the sprint zone app along with the sprint TV app. Nandroid back to CM7 and use Titanium BackUp to restore both apps, along with DATA. I just did this and Sprint TV is working, it may be dependent on the sprint zone app so you can try to install that before all the nandroiding/touchwiz stuff, idk.

That did not work for me. I can get into the app but can not watch any content.

I can't get to a touchwiz ROM. Is there anyway you can upload those files for me?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium

I used root explorer to push to system/app then started the app after a reboot. it told me I can use 3G only, no wifi so i disabled the wifi. I then was getting subscription not avaliable for a few minutes. So I got in a better signal location, no free TV anymore! I was able to preview Dolphin Tale, and given the option to purchase it. I uploaded the apk but cant be sure it will work correctly, I know it used to on the OG Evo.
I just tried to view another preview and it told me not available, not sure if it is/was my connection or the app...
I went to a touchwiz rom and started sprint TV, it acts totally diff than while in CM. Its not looking good, I did a backup after the app got set up and am nandroiding back to CM to restore that back up.
edit...removed non working app

I too couldn't get Sprint TV to work on CM7, but no matter to me as I think it's a ****ty app to begin with
However Sprint Voicemail works just great on CM7 by backing up app+data on stock and restoring it in CM7. I do enjoy that app

What's a good app to watch espn for free?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium

so by going to touchwix and getting the app set up and using titanium backup to restore the app and data in CM the app acts like it did while in touchwiz, but fails to play. I am no longer getting errors on the subscription but a "content not available" ran a logcat and got some sort of java error, how about it devs?????
edit...from a little reading it seems it cant find the lib it needs

OK, Download this to your SD Card in CyanogenMod7, use EX File Explorer (or a file manager), find the APK and install like any normal APK. The version is a bit diff than what we have in TouchWiz, but this WORKS!!!

Tried it out because I was only on stock for a day and thought it was stupid and this really just confirmed it. First off, you can't use wifi, wtf?! My data on sprint is no god damn NEAR good enough to stream videos like that, unlimited data or not. Secondly, there is like 3 channels - abc, abc news and nascar. Ohhhhh, I see, another way for these crooks to charge you $10 more a month to view some halfway decent channels that I could NEVER view on 3g. Give me a break.
None of that is aimed at you btw, thank you for getting a working copy on CM7 for the community, I'm sure some who find this app useful will definitely appreciate it and I appreciate the chance to try it again, but damn, Sprint pisses me off :X

I agree with you 100%. Sprint KNOWS their DATA is slow, so they make you pay to use WiFi, WTF? Back when I had my Samsung Instinct (failed iphone killer, not android version) SprintTV was a bit better, subscriptions were a lot cheaper and 3G was fast enough to stream them almost anywhere. I dont use this app at all, I just knew it is possible and was bored, lol. Though I believe ESPN is also free, thats the reason OP was wanting this. If I can help keep one member on CyanogenMod than I have done a good service, LOL.

I dont know about apps but if you want to watch sports and espn there are some channels on the web that stream it for you. A quick search with the right words will pull it up for you. I watch nfl network like every morning on my way into work..

OP, did you ever come back to the thread to see the working version of Sprint TV?

There is most likely drm that sprint TV depends on and cm7 removes

[Q] Amazon Free Apps - What To Do With All Of Them?

Greets - With Amazon giving away an app a day, it is fairly easy to grab each one just in case. Of course, Talking TomCat gets very old after a while (10 minutes?) and PicSay may come in handy some day, but not now.
Any idea how one can claim the free app, and have it when/if you want it, but NOT have to have every single one of them on your phone, growing by the day?
Thanks!!
Download it, then uninstall it. You can reinstall it from Amazon any time you want.
It's amazing some of the apps that they are giving away. Saved me over twenty dollars so far
I wish they was done way to keep therm for side loading directly rather than going back to amazon.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I don't know if it would work but can you download it, save the .apk on your computer, uninstall it, then reinstall it at a later time?
Sent from my Incredible using XDA App
Amazon keeps a record of what you have "purchased". I have downloaded the free apps but have not installed them all. They are sitting there waiting.
Considering Amazon keeps your record and you can redownload all you want, in addition to the fact it only takes a matter of seconds...I would think that's a better route than trying to harbor the .apk because there might have been bug fixes, etc., in the meantime and you would have to check for updates after putting it back on, and so forth...
Just sounds like the potential for more headache than what its worth...I just go back to the store and get it if I need to.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I guess
Going to Amazon is just a Xth layer to restore ... nandroid then titanium then amazon then etc.
But if they keep doing things like giving away Wolfram Alpha (WOW) ... its hard to resist.
Just get the app, you don't have to keep the app. It may come in handy one day.
Just download them but don't install them or download them and the ones you want you can not install them but reinstall them later
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I downloaded and installed them then backed them up with titanium backup. Then if I have no use for them right now I uninstall them and can restore them through TB when needed.
On another note after cursiing the very existance of amazon.mp3 on my phone for the last year I know love it. I got 20 GB free space on amazon cloud for downloading a $4 album and I just got the new R.E.M. album for $4 too. I have 25 GB of my music stored on their cloud server now for free which has freed up a lot of space on my 32 GB card.
I only download the apps I like now, which really arent many. Whats Avinator!? lol

Downloading apks.

My evo is rooted and I want to try some apps before I buy them. I know Google doesn't want you to download apks from the internet so they try to block them. Sometimes I can get them to download and sometimes I cant. Is their any way you can get your evo to bypass this? I don't want an app from the market. Maybe a file I can delete using root explorer or something?

No that's not the problem. All that does is let you install them. I need help downloading them. It downloads them sometimes but most of the time it doesn't.
Downloading them from where? If you are downloading them from a 3rd party site, then the problem is with the site itself. Unless you are having problems downloading everything. If you are only having difficulties downloading apk files, then try getting them from another source.
I've noticed certain apps do not install, unless installed from the market.
One such app is google maps. After switching to cm7, gapps wanted to install maps 5.31 (current version). I wanted 5.0. Manually installing 5.0 would fail right at the end with a "unable to install" or "installation unsuccessful" message.
Pushing said app to /system/app, adjusting permissions, then rebooting yielded success.
I can install them I just can't download them.

Why don't you download them using a computer then transfer them to your phone via USB?

I think of if as a free trial, then I always buy them to get the updates. I have a few that I paid for and never use because I went over the 15 minute limit. I also have a few paid ones that are junk, FC a lot and the dev abandoned.

If you're using 3g/4g to download, make sure you have the Sprint proxy disabled. It may or may not cause problems.
I kind of understand "trying before you buy"... as long as you buy. I just hate how people feel like these apps should be handed to them, like they're entitled.
I can't say much since I pirate music, but I always make sure to purchase from the bands I really appreciate, especially the lesser known & local bands. That's kind of how I view app/rom developers, they're local to the community... so I always either purchase the apps or use a free alternative.

EL29 Update/Media Hub and new "Samsung Accounts" app

Ok, I purchased a few movies on Media Hub when I had my Epic. (The Godfather and Scarface..had to have them). They always worked fine on this phone. When I went to EL29, it showed Media Hub having a mandatory update. Well, the update installs an app called "Samsung Accounts" and it made my paid Media Hub movies show unpaid. I spent hours on the phone with Sprint, then tech support, then Samsung and couldn't even get a credit for movies. I restored my EL26 nandroid and...they work fine. I even froze market updater on EL29 and it didn't work. Hopefully others don't have this experience but if you do, please call and complain! I paid $10 a movie!
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium

Well, it failed on EL26 now too. The update pops up in the middle of watching my paid movie then says update necessary. If you say no, it closes app...this is some B.S.!!!! At least I can get my purchase date, from EL26 before update pops,up to fight this garbage. Hope they don't figure, out Hotspot

Only thing I can think of making a backup of MediaHub without the update, install the update, open the MediaHub apk, find the config or similar file, find a Version variable or something to the like of that, copy it and paste it somewhere. Then, revert to the pre-update MediaHub backup, open, find config, and paste the Version of the updated MediaHub there (along with any other version-defining variables. Then re-create the apk and try again.
Only thing I can think of, which is to try to trick it into thinking it's been updated. I'm an experienced programmer, but I'm now getting into Android Dev'ing, so I don't know the exact process for Android APK's.... yet!
Just a thought. Might not work since the updater might actually scan the contents of all files go see if they aren't the updated files which would force the update regardless of changing a few config values.
This is the reason I don't purchase any sort of media through my phone.
That, and nothing fills me with more dread that watching a 90 minute movie on a 4" screen with tinny sound. But that's just me... I realize others don't have such qualms.
No complaints on my Epic 4G Touch. This 4.5" AMOLED screen is the chit fool!

being disruptive to others is not ideal nor should it be looked upon as a warranted action.

I suggest getting and setting up "Llama", I LOVE that app! Switches your profiles based on whatever rules you set. IE It puts my phone in Quiet and enables WiFi when at the office M-F between certain times, goes into Car mode on the way to/from the office, back into quiet if i work at my night job based on if i'm in the area designated, then silent mode to sleep and launches Lightning Bug app to help wife and I sleep.
DesktopVizualizer is another sweet App to customize any icon
LauncherPro and Nova Launcher are GREAT
Dropbox and AwesomeDrop are other favorites to make life easier
Get some game emulators -N64oid, Genisoid, etc -can use PS3 and XBox360 controllers with USB OTG cable
Robin is a sweet "assistant" for car use with 100% hands free aside from swiping your hand above the phone to get "Robin's" attention
Ok after stumbling accross this post, I have managed to do absolutely nothing at all work related today. wifikill is awesome. You dont know who has what ip but looking around you see people going like wtf happened. Great find thanks

Phone locking up

It's been a little while since I've been on the forum, so I apologize in advance if I say anything wrong or miss anything here.
I haven't needed to root in about a year, since getting my note 4,but all of a sudden, about 2 weeks ago, the phone starts freezing up seemingly randomly. Sometimes it will reboot randomly as well. Figured that it needed a wipe, so I rooted but kept stock rom and went with it. I rooted with the method here for the latest sprint update, and for a day everything was fine. So, I decided to swap Rom for the Sprint Hybrid 3.0 rom, and for a few days, again, everything was fine. Now, it's doing it again. This makes me wonder if it's an app issue. I installed alogcat and am waiting on it to happen again. Last time it happened, lots of "D/ViewRootImpl( 6623): ViewPostImeInputStage ACTION_DOWN" shows up.
Any help is appreciated. Thank you all in advance.
Attached is the logcat

ViewPostImeInputStage ACTION_DOWN is usually an app problem. It occurs (intermittently and unpredictably) when an app's view layout doesn't work and starts rejecting touch input events.
So it's possible some app is failing. You might want to disable apps that start up automatically and see if you can pin down a misbehaving app. Of course, if it's not a misbehaving app, that won't do you any good. But that's all I can think of.
I can't tell from your log which app might be triggering the problem.
Same exact issue here. It just popped up middle of last week. I was running Alliance v4 with bob7 baseband. I wiped and went to 5.1.1 with the new OG5 baseband using the tx_dbs_tx method. I have clean flashed 5 different times since. The trouble persisted. Phone will react slow, crash to the desktop (nova launcher) or just reboot. Sometimes it won't even reboot, it gets stuck and I have to pull the battery. Very annoying. Maybe we should compare installed apps?
Well, is there a way to quickly generate a list of apps, and which ones start up at boot?

I believe I've narrowed it down to these apps. Used a start up program that prevent some programs from starting.

Does your phone reboot normally when you do a reboot? Half the time mine won't and I have to pull the battery. I got tired of dealing with it and I think it's hardware so I spent my 2 hours at the sprint store while the tech blew canned air in my phone and said it was fine. Then I tried to reboot it right in front of him and it hung until I pulled the battery. Replacement phone is now ordered.

Normally, it does reboot fine. Sometimes it doesn't, like the 14 in a row mine did, but since I stopping the apps, I haven't had an issue

I odined mine to bare bones stock 5.1.1 og5 official. Installed no apps. Random reboot happened in no time flat. Phone still wouldn't reboot half the time, or it would go to a random error screen in download mode for no reason. I think my hardware is junk, bad flash memory.

Ouch. Yeah, might be the same issue, just worse. It might not be an app, jut a full memory issue. And if yours just happens to me worse, then Nothing we do will have much affect. I hope more people start experiencing this.

Looks like this was a bandaid. It still locks up, but it happens less frequently, especially if I reboot a few times.
So, it's not an app. I almost want to buy an app to make my SD card ram...

If you have the esrp sprint insurance just take it to the sprint store and make them replace it. Sounds like the same junk hardware issue I have. I'm still waiting on the replacement.
I don't. But I did add the upgrade early option. Maybe I'll just swap into another 4. I'll have to ask though. No contracts mean I'm having to finance this junk.

It sounds like a bad SD card to me. Remove your SD card and reboot and see if you still have problems.

Was having the same issue, I factory reset my phone, then the next day the same thing started happening. I barely had any extra apps. Sometimes after restarting, my phone would go into downloading mode, at one point it rebooted into a screen that said kernel panic mode. Took it to the Sprint store, it froze up as the tech was using it thankfully, so he ordered me a replacement through my TEP coverage. The entire time I did not have an SD card inserted either.
