[Q] SuperOneClick keeps crashing? - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Phone: Xperia Play (R800i)
Android Version: 2.3.4 (Gingerbread)
Build Number: 4.0.1.A.0.283
Bootloader State: Locked
Rooted State: Not rooted
SuperOneClick Version: 2.3.3
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
SuperOneClick keeps crashing! Here is what I do:
1. Turn on USB debugging.
2. Plug phone into computer
3. Unmount micro SD.
4. Start SuperOneClick
5. Click 'ROOT'
Along the right side this is what I see:
* daemon not running. starting it no on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
and then it stops and says 'not responding' ?
Am I doing something wrong? Is there something I need to do to prevent this? Is it because I'm running 64-bit?

flashtool
Have you tried FLASHTOOL???if you navigate to xperia play android dev there's a sticky post download the flashtool and update use this to root and flash roms hope this helps

Do I not have to have an unlocked bootloader to load a different kernel? And if not, how would this be done? Any help/advice is greatly appreciated!

Have you unlocked bootloader?? Do you have cwm installed??

I had this problem with it to
Reason it didn't work is because the proper ADB driver wasn't installed
Install this when your phone is in debug mode

Tell me if it works.
Thanks

Yea you need an unlocked bootloader according to what you stated in your first post you've got an unlocked bootloader you can flash the kernel now with the latest flashtool too

@ Hogwarts : I tried installing them but it says they are up to date, but still doesn't work?
@thatsupnow : Sorry that was a typo, my bootloader is locked.
If I flashed 2.3.2, would I be able to update OTA without bricking phone? (Because bootloader is locked)

Yea you should be able to do that no problem. Have you tried doomlord's root kit that should work for you instead of going all the way back to 2.3.2

[SOLVED] R800at Root Questions

I have been reading around the forum and over at androidforums.com but am still confused on the process. So just to clairfy this for me, for the r800at do you have to unlock the bootloader to root. I have read you do and I have read you dont. I have tried superoneclick and doomlords zergrush script and neither work...so now im trying to figure out if it has to be unlocked or not. Thanks.
well I guess thats good to know that I dont have to unlock the boot loader to root, but like I said both superoneclick and doomlords zergrush script are not working for me. So I guess now I have to figure out why there not working.
superoneclick gets stuck on step #7 and doomlords goes through and when its trying to write/modify/mount stuff each thing says permission denied, then it says completed/phone reboots/still no root.
Are you sure you have the right drivers? And which firmware version are you using?
All our current root methods don't work on stock firmware newer than the .62 build.
I use flashtool to root mine. In the advanced menu there is root then force zergrush. Works great just make sure you have the drivers installed.

2.3.4 can't be rooted. You need to downgrade to 2.3.3, root it, and then upgrade to 2.3.4 . Search any of the numerous threads on here about the Verizon 2.3.4 update and you will find it.

Correct but he said he was stock, and the free way would be to downgrade and then update and upgrade
so to correct myself yes 2.3.4 can be rooted if you pay to unlock your bootloader.

sometimes when superoneclick gets stuck, just reset the usb connection
toggle usb debugging (turn it off then back on) or disconnect the usb cable

[Q] Help rooting my XPlay with superoneclick!

No. If your below .62 you don't need unlocked bootloader
Run as administrator and make sure drivers installed also try a different usb port

My laptop don't have any antivirus, but what are those drivers needed? I have Android SDK installed here but I just want to make sure if I missed anything. Still the root isn't working and my XPlay is .42
Also I tried the latest superoneclick on shortfuse.org. Still no good.
Oh finally. Rooted it successfully. Thanks to you guys, especially fma965. I just noticed that there is an advanced tab in superoneclick. Clicked Check Drivers button and installed a missing driver for my xplay. Then, voila! After clicking root button, it proceeds and now my xplay is rooted.

I'm not sure if superoneclick will work on a verizon xplay. But I think it might work just like this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1414594
He has a verizon xplay too, and his problem is just like mine --- Missing drivers. Go to Advanced tab and click Check Drivers. It auto-installs the missing SEMC-HSUSB driver if im not mistaken. When done, click Root. I hope this helps.

[Q] Can't root my Arc S !

Hi everyone !
I had a rooted xperia arc s with the last firmware. I have just updating it to 4.1.B.0.587, so it is no longer rooted. The problem is that when I try to root it (I have tried different ways) with Flashtool, it doesn't function. What is strange is that when I plug my Arc S to the computer, Flashtool says busybox version .....
if I try to unroot it, flashtool tell me the phone is not root. And if I begin root, Flashtool stops by saying click restore on your phone, and nothing appears on my phone.
I have tried to restore my phone and to root again but this is the same result...
Can someone help me please ?
Thank you in advance !

4.0.4 is unrootable. You need to downgrade the kernel so you can use the exploit found in that version of kernel.
