i used to get this ALOT if i just use my standard headphones directly into the socket. even if it doesn't "pop out", the slightest movement of the headphone jack would cause it to "disconnect" and stop playing music.....VERY annoying.
I managed to "fix" it by simply buying, a cheap as chips headset adapter on amazon. I have no idea why this works, as the plug on the end looks identicle to the one on my headphones, but for some reason, if i use my headphones i get disconnects.....if i use the wired headset adapter then plug my headphones into that it works. no more disconnects.
like i said, no idea WHY this is the case, but it worked for me. i juse bought the cheapest one i could find, i think it was around £2 on amazon.

if your using the original headset, i would do as stated above or:
go back to the shop and ask a refund or repair.
if your using your own headphones:
try using your headphones in other devices (pc, mp3 player) and see if it does the same, if not contact the company where you bought your wfs if you still have warrenty, i would not accept this kind of hardware failure.

just ordered this. according to the listing there are 3 in the pack, and that's only around £2.70. So if it works out well, and anyone in the uk wants one I should have 2 spare when they arrive, just let me know if you want one and you can have it. I'll try it out first when they get here though. From the description, it sounds like it takes the 3.5mm 4 pin (with headset) and converts it to 3.5mm 3 pin (normal headphones). So it should be perfect if you don't want use of a mic/headset.
My headset cable adapter works well to be fair, but the extra cable does make thigns a bit unmanageable, so hopefully this adapter will work out a bit better
I had the same problem. After trying different headphones, I decided to take a small slotted screw driver.
Just stick it into the slot and turn it a few times without too heavy pressure and now everything works nice!

those plugs for headphones 'felt' cheap the first time i plugged my headphones... they rly have little something that stops you from plugging propperly so you just roll it few times, i did it with my hp-s...just roll and push a bit... and i smiled just how u did it with screwdriver xD
but the main thing is, that it works... you guys decide: screwdriver or headphones jack xD

EDIT: I had that problem with a pair of Creative EP630 in-ear headphones (cheap eBay copy).
Since I bought my Sony MDREX-50LP (guaranteed original) never had that issue.
The sound with Poweramp is absolutely FANTASTIC.
Was so Angry when I first found this problam, I listen to a lot of music. I twisted the Headphone jack a couple of times and Voila!

Expansys will ship the adapter on the 8th of December (http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?i=138247) . I haven't found this adapter anywhere else and I don't know of anyone who has it (except one guy in this very forum???) so I can't let you know if it's acceptable and working as promised or not.
One thing that should be VERY interesting is if the radio reception is good with this adapter and a pair of standard headphones attached to it (and using the FM radio registry hack). Has anybody (who has the adapter of course...) tried it?
well if it's the same as the spv m3100 socket then this should work, not that i have any confidence in my ability to successfully do it

it makes no sence to use the 'hack', cause all You will get is broadband noise without an antenna connected.
if you are familar with soldering, you can open the mic-housing (carefully with your fingernails), unsolder the headphones, and replace it with an 3.5mm female jack. So you can use Your own headphones, and the antenna is still connected.

No it doesnt, although i have this adapter in my car so i can run the mp3s off my phone, and the car stereo has radio anyway, which i may add never has anything good on anyway
Also, when this adapter is connected to the car, when someone rings i can hear them through the cars speakers but the adapter blocks the microphone signal so the person calling cannot hear me

This is actually quite easy to do, just buy a socket from Maplin for about £3 then solder between the mic and the crappy htc eadphones. Viola - I now have my senheissers back AND mic and radio function! OK I do have about 2 metres of cable to route around my clothing but that just adds to the fun.

Just did that last weekend, but when I popped open the housing with my fingernail, well there really is not enough room to fit a jack socket in there, with the headset that comes with the o2 orbit anyway, the mic is right in the way. I had a really slim socket all ready to go which I'd pulled out of a tiny broken sony radio. So I had to just chop the end off a 3.5mm extension lead with a nice ready moulded on socket. It was a 5 min job and looks like it was made that way, everything still works.
I was thinking about buying one of these.
Does anyone else have one? Are they an good?
I have just a basic usb to 3.5 headphone adapter, and I use iPod headphones.

But I think that the stereo bluetooth adapter seems pretty convenient, no?
If HTC shipped a bluetooth adapter like this, I wouldn't complain about the lack of a 3.5mm headphone jack

No stereo bluetooth headphones can compare to my Shure earbuds.
Plus I think that most stereo bluetooth headphones are clunky.

I got one from ebay as well. I paid less than that, but it's still the same. They all are manufactured in China. I use mine everyday. Good sound quality, works right out of the box. I haven't really had any problems.
I only have two complaints. 1. You cant use them while charging, as the charger shown in the third picture is plugged into the headphone port. Strange, yes but it works. That is not really that much a problem, because it has great battery life! 2. No matter what I do, I cannot connect it to my computer to stream music from my computer to the A2d2p adapter. (or whatever it's called, lol) If you come up with a solution after you get yours, please post, or email me.
For me, price was an issue. I didn't want to spend a whole lot of money to listen to music from my phone, but I wanted good sound quality. Regular Bluetooth Stereo Headphones are expensive. For me, this was the way to go. I bought this and a pair of Sony wrap around headphones, and I am rockin'. I think you will be pleased.

Cool dude. The Voyager ones look nice, but I think I'm gonna go the cheap route and just get the converter.

It's a Sony Ericsson DS-200 which I bought last year specifically so I could plug some decent headphones in!
I think it was fairly expensive - about £50 when I bought it, but it has worked great with anything that I've wanted to pair with it, including my Excalibur.
But it's far better than using a wired headset with a 3.5 jack in my opinion, because if you use "proper" earphones that come with a long-ish cord then combine that with the long-ish cord from the wired headset then it makes for some nightmareish tangles! Using A2DP seems like freedom in comparison!

Lol about the longish cord, gave up on wired headsets as the ammont of times i'd rip the cord when cycling, i'm using STAK semi enclosed cans made for 3 network they were cheap bout £30 and give loud playback with comfortability and like post above a2dp makes listening to music far more enjoyable skippin tracks in an instant answering calls in an instant...

I'm using Sennheiser CX300, not audiophile grade by any means but certainly better than bundled headphones or stuff like that, they're great.
I love impressing people on the bus by hiding the A2DP receiver in a pocket and then watching a movie or something on my phone, I've had a few people who were watching over my shoulder anyway ask me how I was listening to the sound! Hehe

I had the same adapter left over from an old phone and it didnt work with the desire, it would play quietly untill i pressed and held the button then it would come out at normal volume. It didnt answer the phone either. I just plug straight into my car headset with 3.5 to 3.5 jack. I can take calls as ive got a holder in the dash and it comes out throught the car speakers.

Yea it seems to come out alright. Ive asked my friends while speaking through the handset and they say it comes out ok. Youve gotta talk abit louder tho depending on outside noise. With the windows up its seems fine.

Oh yea usual handsfrees for the desire plug in via the headphone jack.
You get one standard all in one handsfree and no adapter.
It is possible to have all that up and running, mp3's, sat nav and calls.
I do it daily, just get yourself an official car charger cos i got a cheap one and it blew up on me. I had blue sparks flying out while i was driving.

My HTC earphones won't output audio to my left plug.
This is the third pair I've gone through as all the previous earphones had the same fault. And it's always the left plug that stops working.
Are the HTC branded earphones really that bad?! I'm going to buy myself some quality earphones than wait once again a week to get another pair of soon to be faulty earphones.
Has this happened to someone else?
I would be inclined to think that this is connector problem, not the ear plugs. I have used the original plugs for just over a year with no problems whatsoever.

Something is wrong with the plugs because they work sometimes if held in a special way. My father pointed out that it could be a fault that occurs while the phone is in the pocket. However I never put my phone in my pocket while listening to music.

I don't think it will be the phones, try some pure alcohol or similar cleaning fluid on earbud jack and phone socket
Interesting, I had the exact same thing. I just ordered a new pair off amazon about 3 weeks ago. They were working perfect one day then the next time I went to use them the left one didn't make the slightest sound at all

So I have my Zenfone 2 since some months now and since the start, my phone has a problem:
When I plug earphones or headphones, there's a static noise on the left earphone (or on the left side of the headphone).
I contacted Asus, they told me to update my firmware, which I did (I even updated to MM today), but it didn't fix the issue. So they told me to RMA it.
I'm just posting this to know if someone here got the same problem and if he fixed it. I saw a post on a forum which said to deactivate every single sound (notification, etc) and only activate multimedia sounds. For some reason, it worked, and I didn't ear the static noise again but some days later. I tried to do this operation again but it doesn't seem to work.

Usually i dont use liquids on my phone. Get a pin and a light source. First look inside of the jack if there is some dust or cotton thingys take out with pin

I tried to see if there was some dust in it but couldn't find anything. I, however, used the pin but the problem still persists
I noticed that when I was plugging in my earphone, if I plug in "at the middle" of the jack, there will be sound on the left earphone but not on the right. If I plug it in completely (when you hear the "click" sound), then there'll be sound on the right but not on the left earphone, like I first said on the first post. Maybe this can help you.. I'd like to not send it but if I really have to, I will ._.

Yeah, I've tried 3 different headphones but the problem still persists.
You can clean it with a compressed air can, the kind that is used to clean computers. I have one at home to clean my keyboard from tieme to time and have also used it to clean the headphone jack, since it doesn't use any liquid. You can get one at the local computer store or online from Amazon and similar sites

Since I think my jack is broken, I bought this on Amazon. So I did a little setup so I can properly hear music/sounds:
I have a Logitech G430. When I want to listen to music on my phone, I plug my earphones on the G430 adapter, then I plug the USB cable into the USB-microUSB adapter I just bought, and I plug the microUSB cable to my phone. And it works perfectly!
Some may say It's a pretty rough setup, but for me, as long as it works, that's perfect.

I'm sure a pair of cheap BT headphones is cheaper than that setup. Anyway, if you want to keep using your 3.5mm headphones (I would since mine are very nice and were expensive) you can also try a 3.5 to BT adapter, which is also a cheap and nice option. Music through BT is usually of less quality than through the audio jack, but it¡s better than nothing and you don't need so many cables.
