I didn't really understand that question, but I will assume ur asking how to update "super user". Go to the market, open market, tap on menu, tap on my apps, scroll down until u see super user, see if it has been updated. If it hasn't, tap on it to start update process. Then when its done, close out the market, go into ur apps, go to super user, tap on it, scroll down untill u see binary, u will binary version numbuer, and right underneath that, u will see it say binary again, tap on it. At the button it way say update. Go ahead and update it. Then try ur titanium again.

So I thought I would try Swiftkey and didn't like it. When I uninstalled it for some reason it took out my swype. Checked in Titanium and its not even listed. Can someone tell me how to get it back?
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
really? I uninstalled swiftkey and my swype remained... just to be sure, i'd go into settings > language and keyboards, and see if swype is in there... if not, go into the development forum, there's a G2 rom dump zip on the last page i believe, unzip it, and pull out the swype.apk, email it to yourself and install
Thank you, that worked perfect.

do you guys mind letting me know the title of that thread, i looked all over the last page but i dont see which one it might be
sorry, its on page 2

Thanks a ton! This worked out perfectly for me. I finally got the quick office app I've been trying to hunt down. Seriously thanks alot for the info!!
Thanks a lot. Saved my ass too. I thought I may have to reset the whole thing.
You also need to load the correct library for Swype, or it will eventually fail. Follow the instructions in this thread in the General section.
The basic idea is 1) back up /system/app/swype,apk and /system/lib/libSwypeCore.so
2) flash rom
3) push /system/lib/libSwypeCore.so to new rom
4) install swype.apk in new rom.
I tried on my own and after running it on new rom I get a "Parse error" type of message.
First I nandroid backup/swipe.
Then install the new rom(SPrint lovers 3.7)
Then I went right to the marketplace and downloaded TB again.
It tells me to go to settings/applications and check the install "Unknown apps install" button. so I do that.
Then I open TB again and go to batch, then I selected the restore all apps options and it gives me a error.
I read somewhere it says you have to install them one by one?
I read somewhere something about you have to mount a few programs or something?
I know I was able to do then in batch but try one by one it might work.

If you get the paid pro version you can batch no problem.

Update: if you are going to help atlease post a DIRECT link to the solution of my problem, not a link to the titanium wiki page...i still have to search again when I click on the link.

I see, well can you list the steps you would take to RESTORE the saved apps because I don't know if I did it the correct way or just forgot to install a side app.
well i figured it out from the link posted above, thanks. so i'll give it one more try.
I would recommend on buying the full version. Make sure you tap on PROBLEMS and then download BusyBox. Afterwards you can hit MENU-BATCH and BACKUP USER APPS. I'd recommend not messing with any of the other options. If you flash different ROM's a lot it's better to just backup the apps ONLY.
If you were to do for example BACKUP USER APPS and SYSTEM DATA that could potentially bring a whole bunch of errors on your new ROM's and tons of Force Closes.
What I prefer to do is to manually download all my apps between ROM swaps and then using Titanium Backup to restore the data. An example of what I'm talking about is if you have a game that you regularly play, you'd want to restore your data so you don't have to go through the game again. Hope that's simple enough to understand.
You said when you try to download it from the market it says check install unknown applications? Its not suppose to do that... You must have downloaded it and tried installing through a app like astro. If so download another version and try.

Swyped from Eva running Myn's RLS4!
I hate to bother you guys, but apparently I am doing something wrong. I have searched and read and searched and read and cannot find my problem.
I rooted my Epic 4g using the following process:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074324.
I then installed the following ROM (the standard version):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=976194.
I followed this with an attempt to install several themes, one of them being the following:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1024378.
The theme applies, but the background does not appear on all of my screens, such as in the background of the program pages. Also the icons that are pictured on the theme do not appear there.
Am I doing something wrong here or have I failed to understand the process. Thanks for your consideration.
Wipe cache and dalvik. The theme you posted doesn't work for some.

I actually wiped both the cache and dalvik 3x each.

Are you on ec05?

I just came over from Windows Mobile, so I am very new to Android and all the terminology. I am trying to read and understand, however. How would I know whether I am on EC05 or not? I do know that I am using the standard ROM from this SRF and not the Touchwise version.
I was also wondering if it was possible that the rooting process did not completely take. Can that happen? If I have "superuser" in my programs, does that mean that the rooting was completely successful? Or is there another way to tell that my phone has been fully rooted.

I haven't tried that theme so I wouldn't know of issues, but to check for ec05 go to settings - about - baseband version. That will tell you. You have superuser and the best way to test your root, imo, is to run android terminal emulator and type "su", no quotes of course, and it should ask to allow super user rights and hit yes the command prompt will show a # symbol. The app is free from the market. Android terminal emulator by Jack Palavich. You can also open titanium backup and it will tell you. Afterwards open the su app and you should a list of allowed programs. Hope that helps!

Thank you very much, you guys have been extremely helpful. It turns out I do have EC05 ROM and when I opened Titanium and then went to "su" it listed it and a three other programs there on the first screen. That's great. I will try some other themes. Maybe the one suggested by Overstew.

Problem #1: I'm running RandomRom EI22 and I've done every step to prevent the System Update message, however it's still popping up. Definitely made sure I erased the systemupdate apk and everything else. What other methods are there to make it stop being such a nuisance?
Problem #2: I uninstalled regular Swype and installed the beta, ever since the original kept asking for a system update. After installing the beta, it worked fine. Now everytime I try, it keeps saying "Try again".

Do a search here on "FOTAKill.apk" - that was the only thing that helped me on both my phone and my wife's - but we are on Froyo so this might not work for you.
With that being said, all of what you tried has been suggested for Froyo users also, but didn't work - so give it a try. Sometimes the search on XDA doesn't seem to work well for me - so what I do is use Google, and in the search terms I type "XDA FOTAKill.apk"
You have to edit your build.prop to say 2.3.6 and EL30 in all places where it says EI22 and 2.3.5. Then reboot.

EDIT: I did the trick of allowing it to do an update, then I let it reboot, it goes to the "Triangle !" mode, wiped Dalvik and rebooted, and so far, it hasn't popped up yet.
Now to fix Swype...

I mentioned what has to be done before. Build.prop has to be edited.
Sorry, thought I mentioned that I did. My fault.
Yes, I did edit the build.prop file through Root Explorer, per your advice. Even after I did the final editing (missed a couple), the message still popped up. But, that's when I did the cache clearing and it didn't pop up again upon reboot.

If you are on a MTD rom, someone in another thread suggested going back to regular swype. You can get the appropo files from the Starsky ROM, this is one of the few MTD roms that uses swype still, and the only files that I found work.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1242335
system/app/swype.apk
system/lib/swypecore.so
I pushed using Root Explorer and got mine working again
The 'Android Update to EL30' is not removed by uninstalling system updates.apk that apk is meant to provision your Epic to Sprint. The Update Notification is caused by the 'Google Framework' Service. There may be ways to fool it, such as the buildprop edit suggested.

HTC One X here had weird pixelating and freezing problems couple of weeks ago so we took it to the repair. They replaced almost everything, including the main board and we got it back just now. Works fine, but there's problems with Google Play. When trying to press update, it presses to the app. If trying to press update (just above the "remove" button) it presses remove instead and asks for the app removal. If trying to install new app and to press install, it doesn't do anything.
Is this because of the new android version they just rolled on to HTC One X or if they repaired it wrong, or replaced screen bits wrong or something? Really clueless here.
The phone is onrooted and on stock ROM, if that helps. Tried clearing data and the typical stuff, reboot, no luck. Before trying root and another ROM just asking if someone has similar problem, if not maybe we can take it back to the repair without unrooting work and such...
Did you try factory reset? If you don't want to do that then root, install titanium backup and uninstall the app, reboot then reinstall.

Hi, tried factory reset, didn't change a thing. Can't press update all, open or update buttons, it always chooses the space below it... for example in "My apps" view it selects the first app when trying to click "update all". In the app view, it selects "remove" when trying to click "update"... This issue seems to be only on Google Play, other apps work fine, even when tapping that same spot that is problematic in Google Play.
I don't know if I want to root yet, because if I'm going to send it to repair I have to do lots of work to unroot it (to remain warranty). But if it's the only option so be it. I wish the repair guys didn't mess something up last time. Other thing I'm guessing that the new stock ROM has some issues, but haven't seen reported them anywhere else...
What's the latest version of Google Play and where to get it? can I install new version of Google Play to unrooted system? Thanks in advance!

Make a backup first! Before you do anything made sure you can get back to this point. I think Google play is a part of the system partition so you can't uninstall without root. Bee careful, messing with that stuff can really make your life miserable if you can't troubleshoot!
