Is there any line item that can be deleted or frozen with Titanium Backup to get rid of the Google search bar at the top of each screen?
Or even if I have to go further into the system?
You can try a launcher like nova launcher which is a stock launcher with additional features

You can disable google search in settings>applications and it will go away.
You can't do anything with that real estate though.
Download Nova Launcher from this forum , its basically the stock launcher with a few extra twists to it . Overall very slick and fast , you wont look back trust me .

Accidentally thanked you, but you can just go to /system/app/ and delete quicksearchbox.apk as well

Perfect !! Thank You so much. Actually I just went in and put a .sav file extension at the end of quicksearchbox. That eliminated it but the apk still there should I need to restore it.
I know I don't gain any screen space doing that, I just don't like the look of it at top of my screens! And I can still google from the browser.
Thanx again.
There was a week but I can't find it now

disabling google search bar:
settings -> apps -> all -> google-search : DISABLE
reboot your tablet/phone to remove the empty gray thing on your homescreens...
but this space is not really free then!
enabling again (works too)
settings -> apps -> all -> google-search: ENABLE
btw, without the search-bar the new google-home-www-page also don't works!
you can not enter it from your tablet buttons or the home-screen...

Hi. I think the Google search on the home screens. I do not want to delete the apk just to have a blank field without having the opportunity to have widgets placed at the top of the screen. Do anyone have any suggestions to make the filed active?
You can disable Google Search and that search widget goes away. Do you mean that?
If that's the case, then you need to go to:
settings>apps>all apps>Google Search>Disable

No he didnt mean that.If you disable the search or uninstall the appl this area in homescreen is unusable.I think only launcher modding can solve it

ok...I got confused reading the question....
Yes, you are right, even removing the search bar does not allow that space to be used.
sorry for not being clear in the question, but it is right what the third poster said. I want the place where the widget was to be usable

Have you tried going into the app drawer>menu>edit and dragging an icon off and replacing it?

That's how you do it for sure, but you should try while on the homescreen long pressing the old msging app and see if you can drag it to remove. Then you can drag and drop the gv app in the open spot. The stock ics launcher allows you to do it that way so you don't have to go into the app drawer and then menu then edit. I'm not sure if the TW launcher can do that though. I haven't used that launcher since GB. I'd be curious to hear if you can.
The TW launcher won't let you, I just tried it.

And ya I double checked, it is Applications > Menu > Edit
It may tell you that you need to change the app drawer to customizable grid, just click ok.
I was happy after the installation of Go Launcher, since it allowed me to put more icons on the home screen. But now I cannot lock the phone. Went into Settings.......Lock screen......Screen lock..... to set it up (works fine with the Samsung default launcher), but it will not work with the Go Launcher. What am I missing? Thanks guys
Well your first problem is that your using Go Launcher. Its a RAM hog. Try Nova launcher. Its much much lighter and is designed to run specifically with android 4.0 and up. Your issues should disappear.

Solution:
I had a similar problem when first using Go Launcher. You CAN lock the screen though, but inconveniently; not via the 'logical' TW settings route:
1.First, ensure that you have Go locker installed.
2. From the Go Launcher homescreen, select the menu.
3. Swipe across until u see Go Locker icon and select.
4.Then, press menu soft key again ( u will see go locker menu).
5.Scroll down to the security tab and you will see options for the security lock
6. (Optional) Sit back, sigh and ask yourself why the [email protected]!! they didnt integrate this app into TW more.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:good:
Hello everyone,
I recently flashed this rom on my Sprint GS3 (after being out of the custom rom world for a bit) and I had a few (probably noob) questions. With regard to theme-ing, after I change the color of something, is there an easy way to change it back to default or do I just have to try and hand match it as close as possible?
Also, I installed (flashed) the 4.4 AOSP launcher from myhub, but there does not seem to be any kind of settings menu for it. It defaults to only 2 pages, which isn't nearly enough to hold my apps and widgets. Is there anyway to get more screens? If not, how do I uninstall it? (In application manager, it only gives the option to turn off, not uninstall).
Sorry if the answer to these are already in the forums somewhere, but I've looked and can't seem to find anything.
Thanks,
Haven't upgraded to the latest version, but I don't *think* there's a way to revert to a "default" color.
With the launcher, you should be able to get to the settings option by hitting the menu button while on ur home Page?

Thanks, I don't think there is a way to go back to default either...and if you go to the settings for the launcher it just takes you to the Google now settings. It's really strange.

You can only create a new screen by dragging an app icon or a widget from an existing screen to the right side of that screen, the G.E.L. will then make a new screen available to place that app or widget on. Personally, Nova Launcher is a much better alternative, or Apex for that matter.
Huawei Honor5x
LineageOS 14.1 and minimal google apps.
No matter what I try I cannot remove google search bar from top of the screen.
Went to settings->apps->google app Force Stop . But Disable button never is active.
Not a big deal but really annoying.
thx
Long-press home screen, then go to settings and unselected Google search bar. I am open Nova, therefore I am not 100% sure, but you should be able to remove it.
