Tethering - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I just opened a contract with Sprint and I'm just wondering if Sprint also charges for the native tethering or if they only charge for the mobile hotspot feature.

It has been a while since Sprint has destroyed their unlimited mobile hotspot plan since late October, there are different rates/pricings.

No Data Plan Needed?

I recently bought this SGS2 off Craigslist. My current plan has no data. I was just wondering if T-Mobile will add a data plan to my existing account if I insert my T-Mobile simcard in. Hence I don't need a data plan because I'm always around wifi. Thanks.

Yep you prolly have pay per use data (1.99 per mbb) you can have it blocked if you call CC. And just use wifi

I'd also be very very very cautious buying on Craig's list. If the seller bought the phone on an installment plan and quit paying for the phone/bill tmo will block the imei... pm me if you want me to look up the imei to check if its blocked or you can call customer care to check as well. Sometimes takes a month or two before it actually gets blocked if they account is still open. This is becoming an epidemic for tmo phones on Craigslist
I work as a sales rep we can look it up if you were wondering how I could check

$45 Unlimited All Straight Talk for T-Mobile

So all this time I thought that Straight Talk was ATT strictly.. til my bro in law just told me I can purchase a T mobile Sim Card and use it.
http://www.shopstraighttalk.com/bpd...cards&zip=32707&market=GSM5&locale=en&lang=EN
45$, unlimited text mins and web, no contract. Does anyone have this Straight Talk plan with a t mobile sim card?
If so, what kind of Web Speeds do they offer? Is it T mobiles Hspa 42.2 mbps 4g or what?
Also is it truly unlimited web? or do they throttle after certain GB of use?

Yeah I had them for a few years, last year it got bad after the iPhone it got even worse so I wouldn't recommended them at all, tmobile got some dead spots sometimes but is much much better than sprints

Just to confirm straight Talk does have limits on their "unlimited web"
They just don't specifically tell you when.. But when they do feel like you've used too much data they just throttle you. That's an email from them.

How much does it cost you a month?..I'm on straight talk and do far i like it but haven't really used it on the road yet..
I had Sprint last week and decided to get rid of them cause their data speeds was soooo bad.. so far though I'm happy with straight talk. The girl i bought my phone off she mentioned simple mobile which runs of T-Mobile towers. And idea about them?..

well, I am using simple Mobile $60. unlimited everything, but they throttle you when they feel you are using too much data. max speed I got around 16 Mb, by the way I live in Houston.

You're probably on the unlimited data with 5gb of 4g then after 5gb they throttle you.
But now t mobile has a data plan that is supposed to be truly unlimited.. No throttle

I've been using Straight Talk with the T-Mobile compatible sim for about 4 months now and I've never been throttled. I regularly use around 6-8gb of data a month and have never had any trouble. Speeds are exactly on par with what you get on T-Mobile.
However, there are rumblings of Straight Talk throttling on the AT&T compatible sim card.

On 4.0 or 4.10 I get blocked. On the new data plane using wifi tether
Will I get blocked 2.3.4 on unlimited data plane using wifi tether

Gingerbread does not work on this phone. Did you not see the two posts above you? The version of your OS doesn't matter. It matters what plan you have.

How to tether on Verizon on jb leak

When I first got phone, I was pissed cause I lost unlimited data but, I figured, at least I could tether now! I installed foxfi and was tethering in minutes....it was awesome
Now I'm on jb leak and rooted, and NONE of the apps work...
So I searched and found a solution!
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...-i-need-developers-edition-wifi-tether-4.html
Now I'm tethered and typing from a pool house in my development where I'm studying!
So psyched.....I'm really gonna put my 2gb limit to the test now! LOL

what are actual data speeds you're seeing? this is one thing that makes me nervous about upgrading. I have unlimited data, on my bionic I can get 24 Mbps down on my pc tethered when I use the built in tethering app, but have never seen comparable data speeds through a third party tethering app.

Tethering?

Did Tmo change their tethering policy? I used to be a Tmo employee about 2 years ago and at the time if you had unlimited 4g you got 200mb of tethering data. When you reached that 200 MB you were redirected to a Tmo page offering plan changes for higher data use. If you had a finite data plan like 5 or 10 GB you could tether all you want until you reached that limit.
Well, I've used about 4 GB of tethering data in the last 3 days (haven't tether in over a year and a half) and I haven't been redirected to a Tmo plan change page like I used to.
Anyone?
