Unlimited data does not depend on your OS; it depends on your data plan. This thread needs to be closed now.

You could have unlimited data on cupcake! Lol like Jon said it depends on your plan u have setup with T-Mobile ....os does not matter
On 4.0 or 4.10 I get blocked. On the new data plane using wifi tether
Will I get blocked 2.3.4 on unlimited data plane using wifi tether
Thanks

Gingerbread does not work on this phone. Did you not see the two posts above you? The version of your OS doesn't matter. It matters what plan you have.

Well seeing as how you aren't allowed to tether with this plan, obviously it will be blocked regardless.

smh ics roms doesn't have that. I don't think it is found in any custom roms lol
NONE. Tmobile is fully aware of the work arounds that people were doing in the past. They now monitor the data on their side and you will have to pay for it.
Tethering is FREE with a 5gig or larger plan now.

Not with the 5GB plan. Its now 5 bucks extra on top of the 30 for the 5GB. Not sure about the 10Gb plan though

This doesn't work for me. I'm only able to tether on https sites, everything else is blocked by Tmo.
When I first got phone, I was pissed cause I lost unlimited data but, I figured, at least I could tether now! I installed foxfi and was tethering in minutes....it was awesome
Now I'm on jb leak and rooted, and NONE of the apps work...
So I searched and found a solution!

Now I'm tethered and typing from a pool house in my development where I'm studying!
So psyched.....I'm really gonna put my 2gb limit to the test now! LOL

what are actual data speeds you're seeing? this is one thing that makes me nervous about upgrading. I have unlimited data, on my bionic I can get 24 Mbps down on my pc tethered when I use the built in tethering app, but have never seen comparable data speeds through a third party tethering app.

I have no plan to sign a new contract. I will gladly buy one off eBay for 300 and keep my unlimited data, thank you very much.
I'm also using the stock tethering app, I just did the sqleditor method and it works!
PS I'm on the grandfathered unlimited data plan.

Had Verizon for years, roaming in the US was free. Obviously forcing the phone to roam would result in bad things.
Does t mobile allow this in the US too? As in can I turn on the roaming feature and not get dinged?

I live in an area with pretty horrible tmobile service, and previously depended heavily on tmobile's domestic data roaming.
Back in 2012 they did away with unlimited roaming, and their unlimited plan now gives you 50mb, after which you have no data roaming for the rest of the month.
Here's a recent article: http://www.fiercewireless.com/story...-roaming-services-simple-choice-pl/2013-10-25

I'm currently out of the country and I'm able to get unlimited roaming, although it's at a slow speed.
They'll give you unlimited data roaming if you go outside the US, but not in the US.

Depending on your specific data plan , you have certain amount of roaming data.
