[TUTORIAL] Screen freezing after unlock problem solution - HTC Wildfire S

I have a screen freezing after unlock or call problem for months, tried differnt things like changing ROMs, lockscreen apps but none of them worked, my screen was still unresponsive for a while after unlocking screen, then i saw senaia's post about TP Calibration and tried, the problem is gone so i wrote this tutorial to help the others.
I take no responsibility for any DAMAGES or BRICKED phone, do it at your own risk
WARNING: This will ERASE all of your data, applications, sd card, messages, contacts etc. so make backups of them.
Here is step by step guide
DONT FORGET TO BACKUP
1. Make a goldcard using tutorial in this thread
2. Unrar attached file to the root of Goldcard
3. Power off phone, boot to bootloader with volume down and power button pressed
4. Wait for while it will search for files
5. Then a screen will show up like
Power => Reflash
Vol-Dn => DIAG
6. Press Volume Down for Diag
7. You will see a screen asking you to put phone on a flat surface, do what it says
8. Once that is done you will see a menu about Clear S58 Data, Ignore it, pull the battery and reboot
9. Repair is done, problem should be solved now
This is my first tutorial for XDA, so any suggestions are welcome
Thanks to senaia, he showed how to do

IT works, finally!
I can confirm that the tutorial made by mstfkaratas is working.
Thank you, I cannot describe how much i appreciate it, my beer money is on it's way!

thanks for beer

nevermind
It seems like i got a bit too emotional on this, and my previous post was a little rushed.
The screen freezing gradually comes back in 24 hours. The waiting times become longer and longer. After i did the above steps the lag was gone, but unfortunately it comes back. Especially after i set up to sync with my google account. I also tries to make a new accont, but without success.

I had this issue but admittedly it had just about disappeared when I upgraded to 2.3.5, but still had the odd freeze when receiving a call but not as bad, I did this tutorial and have not had 1 freeze since, may I suggest your problem is hardware (digitizer) Ivaxona?

hi ivaxona your problem can be hardware related or an app you installed, i can suggest you install apps one by one and check the problem
i cant help you more than this because i am not an expert this solution helped more than 5 phones AFAIK

Hi, thanks for the response, i also thought that it may be a touchscreen problem, but it got me thinking, that how could be this possible, when after a short time it start to work absolutely perfect.
I also tried to create a new google account just for testing so the possibility of a 3rd party application causing the problem is eliminated.
I have to mention though that after i place the first call the performance response time degrades significantly. That's why i think that it could be a radio problem as well.
I have to admit that i just recently purchased this digitizer on ebay, and it looked like a second hand unit so i might jut got screwed up.
As a last try before i try to change the digitizer once again, i'll try to upgrade to 2.3.5 as it was suggested.
I'm still on a stock ROM, i suppose there is no 2.3.5 official ROM so i'll have too ROOT the phone, right?
once again thanks for your help!

http://www.filefactory.com/file/c0a...5.3035H_7.53.39.03M_release_225747_signed.exe
this is 2.3.5 EU RUU from shipped roms thread, you can try this, if this doesnt work, there should be tutorials for how to install in this forum. i hope this helps
edit: here is a thread about upgrading 2.3.5 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1363693

Thank you very much, got my brothers device to work now

after i upgraded to 2.3.5 the fix is working! Thanks a lot!

Solved!!
Many many thanks!
Ciao.

Thanks brother

thanks brother..!!!

After many months of searching for solution, it is finally fixed.
It's a relief it's not a hardware issue. I am using custom 2.3.5 and it worked.
Thanks.

thanks brother, you saved my cel phone, I wonder which phones this works ???? I tried it with my wildfire s and is worked

the diag file used for this process is only compatible with wildfire s, i dont know if other phones have that kind of diag files

Thanks for your how-to...
Sadly it didn't help for me, although I've successfully performed the DIAG boot on my S-OFF WFS. I'm running the latest version of alquez's Cyanogenmod 7.2.0-RC1-marvel-KANG (03-24).
I'm also not sure if I have the problem that is described in this thread.
Whenever I power on the phone and try the unlock-slide the first time, the slider jumps back after some pixels. Everytime, it's really nasty.
Maybe this is something else and I should start a new thead for it?

Thanks!! This really works!!! I had replaced the screen, but it only worked the left side. After applying your method, this little wilfire s works!!! My girlfriend will be very happy!!!

Thanks for the tut.
Sorry, i still have this proble in my phone, one question.
To do this tutorial, we must be S-OFF?
Thx

no need to be s-off, i have positive feedbacks with s-on devices

Oh NO! What have I done. Created Goldcard, Rooted Desire, now am network locked?!

Ok,
I think I'm in trouble here. I got a HTC Desire a couple of days ago from Orange. I promised I wouldn't mess with my phone this time, new OS (I had custom ROMS on touch HD, Kaisers, etc) but thought I'd leave this alone. Just wanted some stablity.
But then Orange went and stuffed their Desire full of crap and after reading lots I thought, well I've done it WM phones, and others seem to do okay so here goes.
Made the Goldcard. following the instructions for rooting. Everything seemed to go well until....
I turn the phone on, hmm, yep it's different, no Orange splash screen, different sound (before I had no start up sound). HTC, green on white shows....a second....locked screen.
"Network Locked - Please contact customer care". I unlock the screen by sliding down and am faced with:
"SIM network unlock PIN".
What have I done? Can I get phone back? Is it my SIM?
Any ideas or help? Should I start at the beginning? or anyone know where it went wrong?
All help galdy received.
Cheers

AdamG kindly provided a list of URLs for stock radios, you just need to download the 4.05.00.11 radio and flash it through recovery menu.

Yep, it's your radio needs downgraded. Just remember that radio flashes go through 2 reboots, and under no circumastances interrupt the radio flash by removing the battery if you think it's taking too long or whatever.
Either that, or just network unlock your phone. I gave up re-flashing radio roms whilst testing, just to use my phone.
Don't bother speaking to Orange, they're about as usefull as a chocolate fireguard.
So did this fix ur issue?
I'm also planning to get a black Orange HTC Desire from uk.
Yes it fixes the issue, Orange only allow that radio I mentioned to be used on their network atm. I, myself and many others had this problem when debranding.

Wow, so maybe not so bad as I thought!. Now, I just have to copy over the radio zip file to the micro SD card, and follow the instructions. Thanks for your swift repies.

Can't justify paying 15 quid to save myself doing a process that doesn't even take 3 minutes to complete. I will unlock when my contract is up though.

Yes mate, just download the zip file to your SDCard, flash into ClockWork recovery and then choose 'install zip from SDCard'

Ah, you're stars! NEver knew about the radio problem with Orange.
So, all sorted. A shiny lovely Desire, with none of the Orange crap - and it was loads. the thing that really irritated me was that they didn't even give you the option to uninstall the game demos. A feel a bit freer, and a lot less stressed.
time to finish my cider, re install some apps.

I'd suggest investing in a license for Titanium Backup, saves trying to remember what you've installed and were you stuck their icons!

[Q] Cyanogen Desire HD Problem

Hi there,
I'm having a problem with my Desire HD, its been rebooting itself occasionally, maybe once every 2-3 hours. I've got the latest recovery and latest radio, I've tried other ROMs and I'm still having this problem, other than that, it's great, so smooth and fast!
Can anyone help please?!
I'm very new to all this so please be patient.
Radio version is -26.04.02.17_M2
Cyanogen Version is: CyanogenMod-7-03022011-NIGHTLY-DesireHD
If you need any more information please let me know.
Thank you in advance
Try the cm7 release candidate 1 as that is more stable and not as buggy.....same thing really as nightly very minor changes aesthetically.
Right okay i will do. I had the exact same problem on the RC1 aswell .. But I'll try that and let you know..
Thanks for your help

Before flashing whatever you settle on, be sure to wipe /cache /dalvik-cache and /system from within clockwork recovery as it may be left over chaff in the directories causing the instability, BEWARE though this will wipe all your user data.
Yeah I will do,
Thanks Pal
It might be a hardware problem. I know there has been issues with the sim card slot. Make sure your sim is in securely and even secure it with a small piece of card or paper jammed in with it. This solved the problem on my friend's dhd. Hope this works for you. Please post your results.

Hi there everyone, just a quick update.
None of the other roms iv tried seem to be having an effect, and as for the memory card and sim issue.. Im doubtful as it never had any issues before i rooted it and put cyanogen on it.. my next step is to try a different radio.
Does anyone have any other suggestions??
Thanks.
Also i forgot to mention, it only appears to reboot when i recieve a message, but, only when there's a message and i havent opened it or unlocked it, when its been there for 5-10 minutes, then i'll press the unlock buttin and that's when it'll reboot. But it only ever does this when i press the unlock button..
Don't know if that's significant or not..
yeah, ive also noticed that it reboots ever as often..
i didnt take it on until i read this post..
also what ive noticed is that when it reboots, my keyboard setting goes back to default i.e. from swiftkey (which i have to set after it boots) to the android keyboard..
did anyone else come across this?. any suggestions?

[SOLVED] From NewbieNoobitis - Bricked My A100! to OTA Current ROM

i had ICS 4.0.3 viola the "Acer_AV041_A100_1.012.00_WW_GEN1" rom
i was rooted, unlocked the bootloader, flashed CWM 5.0.5.4 Gapps, and then updated to the above rom
after using it a bit (and liking it) i realized ACER Support was sending OTA ICS upgrades to all the A100 Tabs and i wanted them too, so
i used the "downgrade hc 3.2" method and all looked fine until it rebooted
after it rebooted, it now does no longer go past the ACER logo screen with the usual msg in the upper left-hand corner indicating that the bootloader is unlocked, which says "Bootloader Version 0.03.06-ICS (UnLock Mode)"
and this is where it stays and the device just would overheat if i leave it alone (i know this because it was begining to get a little warm, so i knew it was not good to just leave it hoping for something good to happen)
Is there something i can do to save my beloved A100? please?
i have been up until dawn for over 2 days reading posts trying to find a solution to no such avail, but i still hope someone will read this who is able to help me, so i will keep checking even while i am exhausted, then i will be happy to help someone else and maybe someone else will already be helped by this post anyways ...
What have you tried to fix it?
Did you make a backup after you installed cwm?
What 3.2 rom did you flash to (link)? Through cwm?
Sorry for all the questions.

Hi Romman0
1st thank you for responding
1. no, but i'm about to try.
2. yes, but i think it was over written when i try the "Downgrade hc 3.2" method
3. the 3.2 rom i flash is "Acer_A100_1.014.08_COM_GEN1" and i flashed it by renaming it to update.zip and putting it on my external_sd in my laptop and then putting it back in my A100 (which was shut down) and then hold down the volume-up key and also press and hold the power button until it vibrate and i see it going into recovery mode, then the android with the spining cyan ball install my update and my system begin to update and display messages in 9 different languages that say to do not turn off and do not press any buttons and just to wait and it will reboot, so it reboot, but it is stuck at the ACER Logo, so i scour for posts for help and i find how to do a hard reset, so i do the hard reset (i even watch the youtube video), but it is still stuck at the ACER Logo screen and in upper left corner it displays "Bootloader Version 0.03.06-ICS (UnLock Mode)" , so when i scour for more help i find APX so i been reading all about it and even if it is scarry im already bricked anyway so i might as well try it ... i think, but not sure
... i think i will 1st wait for your response Romman0 ... thanks again
The update shouldn't have overwritten your backup. If you used cwm to make a nandroid backup, you should be able to boot to cwm and apply the backup.
What happened when you did the factory reset?
To me it doesn't seem like you are bricked, I'm not completely versed in ADB, but there are some guys here that are amazing at working through these issues.

Since you have the cwm recovery installed download a rom from development forum ( I would recommend cm9 or flexrom ) as there is no chance they can damage your recovery. Get that rom into your sd card and boot into recovery by pressing power + vol down while booting. From there select flash zip from sd card and select the rom you just downloaded. flexrom is based on official ICS with some improvements so it may be better than official release.

It's Fixed ... and the fix might really help someone ...
First i want to thank everyone who replied to this thread trying to help me, including "inspiredbyHTC", cause i really really appreciated all the help
My problem was a typo, yep a TYPO! ... i just couldn't believe it! ... i been up all kindza hours tryin to figure this out! ... reading threads upon thread, and forums upon forums!
So my solutions was this...
Continuing with my initial post for help i posted the following:
1)i had ICS 4.0.3 viola the "Acer_AV041_A100_1.012.00_WW_GEN1" rom
2)i was rooted, unlocked the bootloader, flashed CWM 5.0.5.4 Gapps, and then updated to the above rom

... O.K. ... so then after seeking for the next 8 days until about 30 mins ago, i kept thinking about how the above rom has always gotten my beautiful 7" A100 out of trouble, so what was the matter ... then i took and decided to do what some would call insanity "keep trying the same thing over and over and just keep getting the same results hoping for a different outcome ", but this time when i started to copy the file over to my external_sd card, i noticed that the name of the file was "updated.zip" instead of "update.zip" and i thought to myself well "i'll be a bees knees!!!" it will never update with it being named "updated.zip" sooo of course, i renamed it to "update.zip" popped it in my georgeous little A100 and Viola! there was a ressurrection from a table-piece to my friend again! 5) i definitely selected all the prompts to do the long-awaited Update!
6) again i checked the version and it was ... Sweeeet!!!

Well, first off, what's even wrong with yours?
Second, his fix was a typo. He spelled the file updated.zip not update.zip
as in, extra D at the end up update, before the .zip, easy to overlook, but makes all the difference in the world. Also a likely type is update.zip.zip as some PCs will add something there, or while renaming it you may type update.zip and it appends .zip to the file. Windows with it's default Hide File Extensions is usually the cause of this one.

[Q] Possibly bricked... Or is it??

Hi guys... First post here as i seem to be stuck.. My phone is a DHD.
I'm not new to rooting or custom ROM's as i often change the ROM on my phone easily without any problems.. Done it 40-50 times now. Never had a problem. I'm used to the AAHK and know what i'm doing.. However, last night i got fed up of the ROM i had, been having some teething troubles lately so figured i'd put it back to stock and then root again and flash a new ROM, this always solves my problems. Now i always have a few others stored on my SD card incase one won't work (i sometimes get the bad installation, aborted) message and i'm not left without a working ROM, but wanted to unroot and put back to stock so opened the AAHK and proceeded as normal to do so ..
Everything was running fine, writing codes as it should, then when it came to the radio downgrade, it got to a part where it usually moves on to the next stage fairly quickly, but this time it just hung.. I left it a few mins to see if it would carry on, no such luck.. I had no choice but to remove the cable and try again.. Now i'm not a fan of removing cables midway through, but it would have just hung forever so i had no choice..
Anyway.. I can still access the CWM screen and have tried every option to get it to do something, but no matter what i do, i can't get past either the white HTC screen or the Black background with the red triangle.. The files are still there on my SD card obviously, i can access them via a card reader, it's just the phone won't move on as i'm guessing the downgrade being interrupted left it with corrupt data... I would have thought running the AAHK again would have started from scratch and just re-run, but this obviously isn't the case.. Any ideas what to do?

Why are you running the Hack Kit being S-OFF? there is no use in doing that. You could have flashed a different rom from recovery after doing a full wipe and everything might have been solved, if it was a software issue.

Yes i realise that.. That's how i always flashed new ROM's. i could have a new ROM installed in minutes that way, but the reason i was running the hack kit was to put it back to S-ON and stock RUU.. As far as i was aware you had to run the hack kit to put it back to stock, that's the only way of doing it is it not?..
But that's not the problem, my problem now is, getting the phone to show some signs of wanting to get past either screen.

Are you still S-OFF? then flash recovery again and then a custom rom. Problem solve. If you want to revert to stock, then do that first and the set S-ON the second time...just in case.

Yes it is still S-OFF, but it won't let me flash anything, run bootloader, access the SD card or i wouldn't have the problem i have..
If i hold volume down and power, i get the usual screen with fastboot, recovery, factory reset, simlock and image crc.. I've tried every one of these apart from the simlock with the same results.. Nothing.. If i select recovery, it flashes the white HTC screen as if it's going to boot, then i get the black phone with the red triangle and it won't go any further.. If i hold volume up and power at that stage, it gives me the apply sdcard:update.zip (which i can't seem to access or just don't have, i'm not sure) and the wipe data/factory reset and cache options..
The only thing it tells me on the screen is E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command
I fear i can't do anything with this phone, even trying to get the hack kit to run is a pain and keeps giving me several errors including the ECHO OFF message. I presume this is because having done the wipe cache and data, i've removed the usb debugging priviliges..

Ryan, from now on, know that if you lie on what you did your phone to someone trying to help you is the worst thing ever. Not only because it won't help to fix it but also because I could also have scr*wed your device by doing some flashing on a messed bootloader.
Lying is the worst strategy ever....I am done. You won't get any help from me anymore. Congrats.

You've misread the situation.. I didn't lie to you about anything, ok, i was unsure of what i'd done, but i certainly didn't ask for help to mislead you and help break my phone. Why would i do that??? I genuinely got stuck with a problem that i didn't know how to get out of.. To be honest i've never had a problem with it before and didn't realise you had to know every single piece of info about it, most of which you forget whilst trying to sort it anyway, and i can't remember if it was flashed previously with a stock ROM or not, but what you mentioned sounded familiar which is why i said i think it might have been, but i can't be 100% certain on that..
I feel bad that you saw it as misleading, as i didn't feel i had been, and that certainly wasn't my intention.. But even though you are unwilling to help me again, i thank you very much for the help you gave me, without you it would still be in a useless state. Thankfully, i have managed to get it working perfectly again and will be more careful in future..

Maybe you don´t have a clue on what happened. What's up with me? I will tell you what is going on...i spend many hours of my life helping people in here and in the Hack Kit IRC Support Channel for free, I do it because I enjoy it and don't expect anything in return.
But the worst thing ever is to come accross someone that lies about what he did to his phone. I have been around this site for about 2 years now and never made a brick, do you know why? because I always make sure to follow instructions and ask people what they did in order to provide the best fix, if possible.
When you spend and hour trying to figure out what is going on and trying to flash something and then find out that a froyo RUU might have been flashed (perhaps, I don´t know, not sure...WTF???) and what you did might have scr*wed his phone, it really makes me angry and feel cheated.
To sum up, my time...my decision...maybe you can help him yourself instead of questioning me.

Like SmOgER said before you Glevitan, i wasn't lying, you just got annoyed with me because i didn't give you 100% of the info you needed, and the only reason for that was because i didn't know it!! When you think you're phone is playing up, you try various ways to get it right again, i'm sorry i don't keep track of every little step i did and i'm sorry this displeased you. But a liar i am not.. The term more appropriate would be clueless!!
You have to accept that us newbies just don't know anywhere near as much about these phones and how they work as you do.. It doesn't mean i lied.. What you see as a misrepresentation of facts doesn't mean i am a liar, it just means i didn't give you the info you wanted, simply because i didn't know it, not that i was withholding it on purpose, THAT would have been bad!!
I am no expert like you, i just root and ROM like most people and hope that it goes right...
Like i said before, i really appreciate the time you took to help me and didn't go unnoticed, and it's great that you help people like me for free, but maybe you should take it a bit easier on the newbies if they're not so expert.. My 1st post asking for help and i already feel like i'm not welcome anymore.. That's pretty bad for such a big community!!
SmOgER.. At least YOU understood where i was coming from..
1. Flashing a Froyo RUU is an important stop on the quick path to bricking your phone, and that warning is splashed all over AAHK and other documentation. That's why glevitan is so upset about not being told of the possibility that you might have done it: it's very bad, and users should know that it's very bad, and it wastes a lot of time.
2. Not knowing what you're doing and messing with your phone, and then not keeping track of what you're doing, is extremely unwise. When helping out on XDA, I personally don't expect everyone to know everything, but taking basic precautions really does seem like common sense.
3. Next time, read similar threads that came before you and ask the community. For example: I have X problem. I have researched and found Y and Z thread links with similar symptoms. I am considering trying what A suggested in Y. Is that the wisest course of action? Then you show that you have done your part in solving your own problem, and the community will respect that, even if you're way off base.
Obviously, I personally wasn't there on teamviewer, so I have no idea about the clueless v. lying thing.

Yes i understand what you're saying, and i appreciate most of it. However, it's not often practical or even possible in some cases to write down or note everything you do in a documented fashion.. And like you might have previously missed, i have flashed various ROM's 40-50 times, and the AAHK has worked perfectly for me everytime except the last where it took it upon itself to just freeze on me, it was a computer issue, not a human error.. Also, why would reflashing a Froyo RUU to a phone that was originally shipped as a Froyo unit cause any problems??
I don't understand that part..
One final note, i did have a look through similar threads, but there are so may threads with similar symptoms that it's hard to sift through them all for a definitive answer, and even when you do read them, only one or two parts might be relevant, if any.. So it's quicker to come straight out and ask rather than waste hours trawling through them all to no avail i think.
Whatever happened doesn't matter anymore. Lesson learned.
You seem like a nice guy. Let's back on topic.
Is the issue solved or not?
Try to state what is the current issue. What was the state of the phone when it was working. What happened or what were you trying to do when it got messed up. What have you tried so far. Etc, etc, etc. The more the info the better.
Edit: Nevermind. You *******, you flashed a froyo hboot on your HTC Inspire/DHD after we’ve warned NOT to for over a year. Here’s the fix:

It is not about if you are an expert or not...I am not, belive me. But I am wise enough to read and try to learn. Doing things like a monkey will not excuse you.
If you don't understand, maybe it is time for you to buy an Iphone. Hacking is not for the lazy b*stards who don't even know what they do. And belive me, your story is hard to belive, running the Hack Kit with a custom rom is not possible...you should have got stuck, that is how it works.
YOUR PHONE....YOUR PROBLEM...I don't give a penny for it.

I wouldn't be seen dead with an iPhone.. I hate Apple and Apple products for that specific reason. They don't give the freedom of open source and don't allow real control. But i will be more careful in future and learn from my mistakes.. However, i'm not a lazy bastard hacker as you so put it, and i don't care for the accusation of being one either, please be careful what you say in future as statements like that are completely uncalled for ..
I understand you are somewhat unhappy with me, but please don't resort to slating me. I wouldn't do the same to you if you were wrong.
And yes Teichopsia.. I am a nice guy, thank you for noticing.. I realise now i made a mistake and i just got stuck, but the phone is now running absolutely flawlessly thank you..

Hey Matt, I wonder if you can help me out. I flashed the GPE rom, it was working fine until i decided to edit the build prop. I changed the density value from 480 to 320. It worked but it was too tiny. Then i would readjust the value to 400 but upon restart the value wouldnt change. So i tried changing it back to 480 and saved it and directly went to reboot, not my phone refuses to load up. When i hold power and volume up the HTC logo screen comes up and then it turns back off, I cannot get into bootloader by pressing volume down and power. I am stumped. If you can assist me, id be sure to tip you some BTC your way.
Thank you in advance

I have an issue similar to this.
Phone gets to the HTC powered by android screen and then dies. I cannot access bootloader using vol down and power. It won't respond.
S-Off, unlocked boot loader.
Phone also periodically turns on by itself, then procedes to shut down after it gets to the HTC Powered by android splash screen.
EDIT:
Managed to get into recovery using the advice in this post:
Tikerz said:
When you plug it into the computer does the computer make a ding sound that it's connected? If so, then press power and volume up until the disconnect ding sound which indicates it's rebooting and then immediately press volume down and see if you can get into fastboot. The timing is tricky so I've found using audio cues from computer can help if the phone is messed up.

That's no problem and could happen to all of us. But some pointers from my point of view :
When i look at your O.P you give the tendency to look like a non profit company/organization which indeed offers a free service, that's all fine but please give the users the hint when it will be "offline" when you are on holiday or at least "offline" without a reason to stop the reactions users like me posted before. It looks like a 24 hour service promise which is not there.
I have been a helpful member on the hox section of xda the last 2 years and never had the need of such a thread/service. I think it won't make that major difference because users will always make new threads with their problems anyway.
This is not ment in a bad way, just my personal opinion !
Cheers.

If firewater isn't working for your device, then this service nor any other can help you gain S-Off, like it's been started in many threads already. You'll have to wait until firewater suports your phone.
