It probably wont work, to use aosp dialer, you need aosp telephanyservice.apk, and i think it dependent on framework, and we have SEMC framework not aosp.

Alright. let me know the result when you've done. I'm a bit afraid to try because I don't wanna get Force Close.
As AndroHero said - you cant just install the apk, you will have to use a custom ginger bread rom or a go phone/contacts program since its vital function. installing doesnt do a thing, then install the stock one and you get force close

I don't understand of what are you saying...
i tired it doesnt work, no difference, you will have to flash it with a non sony rom or use a program like go contacts to replace it,since is apart of the framework.

You obviously do not read others posts...
@OP
I tried to insert them as system apps, but on Sammy ROM, the phone functionality is gone when deletein the original SecPhone.apk. So I'm pretty sure that it does not work that easy.

What posts should I read? and why don't you help the OP then?
As for dialer replacement apps, they don't replace everything (most often only dialing pad and/or contacts list) and often are unstable.
I replaced secmms.apk with aosp. Works fine. Had to name it same and reboot. Did you try that with dialler?

I think modaco kitchen has the choice of including ICS Dialer...

1. He wanted a solution without a whole CM9 ROM, you told him he could install such a ROM. Questions? No...
2. I told him that the stock CM9/AOKP Dialer app does not work in Sammy ROMS.
Thats kinda help imho.
@OP
I tried ExDialer from market with ICS theme. Very nice. But the original Dialer app from ROM needs to be active in ROM. Without it=No phone connectivity.

Did not work when I tried. SMS/MMS yes, but Dialer unfortunately not
Hi, thanks for reading...
I have two problems that I think are related to the stock launcher:
One of the desks of the launcher shows a black shadow instead of a green shadow whenever I try to put a widget or icon in that place. I can't put anything there and it's a full row.
The Music Player Widget cannot be added because the launcher says "Widget already added" over and over.
I already have tried clering the data from the launcher; even tried factory reset but didn't work.
Note: I'm using a brand new Xperia Play with 2.3.3 and .145 stock ROM, not rooted. Everything is like new, but I have these issues.
Any help would be aprecciated. Thanks in advance...
Thats an odd problem never heard of it before... Why don't you try this... Get the Xperia s launcher from themes and apps section and install that...it will ask u to replace system app just say ok...it might work give it a try
Edit: here is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1515644

No worries mate
Anyone have an APK for it?
*Or if the Jellybean one will work on ICS I'll try that as well*
I am tired of the touchwiz one and want a stock apk.. But don't want to go full stock because of the other features.

Explains how to replace TouchWiz apps with stock ICS. I will say I have not done this on the H9 update though. I do not think these work on Jellybean based ROMs either. I tried to install the pure ICS messenger app in a stock based jellybean rom and it did not work.

On a side note ... me messing around after I found a ICS APK... putting it into the app folder with a root explorer and then rebooted seemed to work..
I didn't do anything but that heh
Only thing now is I don't see a option to turn it black for the background ..

That is what the thread I linked explains how to do. It gives APK for most ICS apps and explains the problems that users have ran into with them and how to back up the stock TouchWiz apps if you want to restore them. I have no idea how you would go about changing the background color but there is probably information in the Themes and Apps section of the forums.

hi,
as it's stated in the title, Is there any way to replace Samsung's contacts app with stock ICS/JB People app on our SGNII?
Thank you.
Similar question: Is it possible to get the stock ICS/JB messaging app on the SGNII?
I tried installing an mms.apk from an old CM10 rom I had for my sgs2 but it kept saying that it was replacing a system app and would fail, but when I looked in system/app I couldn't find another mms.apk
still waiting for an answer ...

For me ICS apps work well on JB. Must not be a problem.
So I just recently flashed my phone with the kernel vengeance 1.32 and when I go to the menu, some apps are missing like xperia gallery smart start, etc. also, when I want to add widgets, the photo album one is gone and a few others.
Is there a way to fix this?
Thanks

I just flashed my LT18i with the same kernel and i had no problems. Did you use the one exactly for your device? since there are a lot with the code names one might get confused. If that isn't the case you might simply have to flash a custom ROM. I did it with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1920207 and works great
